[Bounty] Disable write protection/Unlock bootloader - Verizon Motorola Droid Turbo General

UPDATE: Sunshine bootloader unlock in now available for the Droid Turbo for $25 here. Special thanks to @jcase and @beaups for their great work.
Now that we have a method of rooting thanks to @maiko1 and @Tomsgt's hard work, the only other hurdles to get over are disabling write protection of the system files, and bootloader unlock. There is already a bounty thread for bootloader unlock (link), however it is no longer being maintained, so I feel a new thread is in order. I will do my absolute best to maintain this thread, and keep track of those willing to donate.

Write protection is irrelevant. I can already write to and flash /system. So can everyone else with moforoot.

Yeah by making an image. A lot of things dont work without write protect disabled.

Why should the fact that you paid for mofo have anything at all to do with some other dev's work? If maiko1 came up with the write protection disable or bootloader unlock, then perhaps you would have an argument for a discount. But certainly not if some other dev did.
People "just say" the stupidest things. LOL!

The only devs likely to come up with this are jcase and beaups and if past behavior is predictor of future behavior, they aren't likely to be going the bounty route. If they do, my guess is that it will be a paid option.

Unlock my bootloader and i'll pay 100.00 for it

That's a really ignorant thing to say. It absolutely is relevant. I'll gladly pay money for a root that doesn't require a reimage flash and has write access.

Yeah but is it real or or are they making it seem real so that no one else will work on it. Allowing them more time to get it working? I don't know I'm into conspiracy's haha.

If they had intentions of working on it further, I would guess those have gone out the window after the warm reception the root method got. Maybe I'm wrong and the sales from root will give them the push they need to continue looking for a bootloader unlock, but if it were me I wouldn't work that hard just to be met with endless negativity.

" In summary, mofo will let you flash any system image to your device. To get root, flash a pre-rooted system image. It does not disable write protection - anything that writes to system at runtime WILL NOT WORK "
Flash anything for root but without sysem.img read&write support, it is not a real root solution yet. I believe maiko1 can achieve it.

[4.4 ROOT] [BOUNTY] New Root Method Exploit or Full Bootloader Unlock Droid Maxx

So I took the KitKat 4.4 update on my Maxx. Needless to say, I now have dissolved my primary means of internet connectivity. I have scoured the forums and I found a lot of people asking about how to root when you are already running 4.4.
I tried downgrading the firmware, using RSD Lite, but I got errors (as you cannot downgrade). Since I am now stuck with 4.4 I figured I'd make the best of it.
Not sure about the procedures on the forum, as this is my first post, but I want to have a bounty here.
I got $20.00 on the bounty for whoever roots 4.4. I know there are others asking about it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/newreply.php?do=newreply&noquote=1&p=49493942
MODS: As I am new to this forum, forgive me if I'm overstepping my boundaries here.
Be the first person to create or find a method to achieve the following:
Exploiting a fully stock Droid Maxx 4.4 build to get root. Make a post in this thread with the following:
Proving it works with appropriate photos and/or screenshots
Providing full step-by-step instructions for which anyone else can follow
Wait for at least one member to follow the same method and confirm it works the same on their fully stock device with 4.4 KitKat build
Claim your bounty via PM from donator(s)
Payment will be processed between each member and the bounty collector via PM on an individual basis
I'll update this page daily as I currently only have temporary internet access

False! There was a bootloader unlock for previous droid. But they closed that security hole in one of their updates.
So it is possible.
I participate in that thread for Moto X bootloader update.
BTW: update me here to $25 for bootloader update (to match my two cents in Moto X bootloader thread)

[Q] What do you guys think about this phone?

i received an invite for this phone, total cost for me is going to be like 450 canadian dollars. how are your impressions? i want to know so i make sure i don't waste my money also how hard is it to root? thanks in advance guys
Not hard to root at all. If you're familiar with Nexus phones, then its pretty much.
1. install drivers
2. fastboot oem unlock
3. fastboot flash recovery <recovery>.img
4. put supersu.zip on ur phone
5. flash
6. u have root.
in terms of impressions, just read reviews.. theres a bunch of them online that you can read and see pretty pictures.

Despite having a slightly yellow band, I love this device. See sig for the devices I have, the 1+1 is my favorite.
As for root it's just as easy as a Nexus, flash custom recovery then flash SuperSU.zip in recovery.

You get a very nice phone for a decent price. Other than this TLDR; read the reviews by tech sites as I fully agree with them on nearly everything.
In other words; I am not sure you can get a half as decent (specs and software) phone for double the price from another brand.

No offense but that should have been easier to google than even type the question. It is very easy to root, you just need to unlock the bootloader and flash another recovery. Please note that unlocking the bootloader will factory-reset your device for security reasons.

First thing I recommend for anyone to do on their phone regardless whether or not they plan on rooting or not is to unlock their bootloader.
This is because you will have the opportunity to backup your phone's data / text messages etc; whereas, if the bootloader is not unlocked you will lose all your data.
Having the bootloader unlocked does not compromise any security/protection/etc
Please go here and do some of your own reading http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2685348
As XDA is not a support site, members are expected to read a little and form their own opinion.

You want the same thing as they do too so how is your thread any better than that one?
This thread is essentially the same thing as that one but on that 1 they are keeping track of all the money offered.
Also, if it does get root, you won't be flashing cwm or twrp any time soon and if you were to do that with the bootloader locked, you'll brick the phone. There's a way to obtain root with the bootloader locked it just needs to be found.
Or..... You know... Just download package disable pro??? It uses Knox to remove it. You can just as easily bring it back... And use adguard to get rid of ads

XT1609 - No Root, Now What?

I'm satisfied with this phone for the most part. From what I've read so far, getting this phone rooted seems out of the question. Just what can you do, if anything, as far as customizing your phone like what's possible with Xposed (or even Gravitybox)? I'd prefer not flashing if the rom isn't rooted.
Any suggestions or answers?
Thanks!

Unfortunately for the xt1609 you can only use the stock rom as there is no root method for it. You cannot flash any custom roms or recoveries or use xposed.

@classic757 statement was true when posted and remains so today. Finding a root solution (identifying a vulnerability and then developing a viable exploit to leverage it) has nothing to do with hardware unique to the G4P XT1609 varient. It is hard (increasingly unsucessful) work that fails to attract the critical mass needed to mount a coordinated effort. The puny market for this model almost guarantees no such effort will be undertaken.
If you truely want/need root consider a XT1607 which is bootloader unlockable and works fine with CDMA networks (specifically Verizon).

Ah ok, I already have mine unlocked but I would love to have the option to lock and relock at will. Did Ismael charge for the service to unlock? Was it done remotely?
What is involved with unlocking the boot loader?
Smail simply uses teamviewer to remote connect to your computer and uses Flexihub to connect his computer to your phone. I did a factory reset and took out my sim card and skipped connecting wifi. I went straight to develop options and turned on USB debugging and he did the rest. He said turn on wifi and reboot and 5 minutes later i was able to toggle oem unlock. He didn't charge me he said he takes donations but not necessary. I was just as skeptical anyone but he genuinely has figured it out.
I can also confirm that @Kream24 is correct. This method is legit. He didn't charge me either, but I did donate $10 to him.
I've run custom roms on every phone I've owned but this one. Really not missing much without root. Definitely fun to tinker with but, I've been able to pretty much do anything I need to without it. Sure it involves more steps using adb and buying pda net to get around the 15 gig Verizon Hotspot. I do miss viper but, I'm having no problems with my phone.
If I were going to unlock I wouldn't be afraid to use smail's method and I'm kind of paranoid about who touches my stuff.
