Lg g2 camera problem - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

The lg g2 camera is wxtremely slow any ideas on how to get the best of this camera????
This day with my iphone friend compared the camera, they're both excellent in outdoors conditions but in low light or indoors ahahahah.
My g2 camera lags a lot and produce some little little "dots" but the iphone's have high FPS and the the're were no dots...
Why i mean in a good phone put a good camera because today a good smartphone has a good coamera,it can't replace the reflex but is good to have a good one...
Sorry for my bad english.
Don't say put a modded camera because i know the photos are progressivly darker so.....PLS help me.

[Q] Bad camera

Is anyone getting weird Rgb effect when they in the camera making it look really grainy
That's just because it's not very bright in the room you're taking the picture in. Try turning on some lights.
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 running Cyanogenmod.
And get used to the fact that the g2 camera just sucks.

There's a few examples of the terrible, terrible camera quality of the G2.
g2 camera is very good as long as there is plenty of light

I have never taken a good outdoor photograph, and I've used 3 different G2, and two different camera apps.
They're all blurry as crap.
They look OK if you scale them down to 1024x768 or 800x600, but at native resolution they're crap, just check out the link I posted above.

[Q] Is the G2 camera not good?

I'm looking for switching from Lumia 920 to an Android phone with a good camera like the one in 920. I was close to getting a HTC One but I read horrible stories about purple fringing and so dropped that idea. Then I looked at HTC One X, but it seems to be an outdated phone and so dropped that plan too. All my friends have iPhone or Samsung and so I don't want to get them either.
Finally when I read the reviews for G2 it seemed to be the most perfect phone for me as it's said to have a nice camera, 5 inch display, Android and fast. On top of it AT&T has also promised an early free upgrade for G2. But when I read some of the threads here they talk about the camera being too slow and not good for indoor. I also read the thread about the Xdabbeb Mod and it seems promising but some folks in that same thread say that even after updating with that Mod the camera is still not that good.
So here I'm, so confused now knowing if I should get G2 or not. What's your opinion on G2's Camera? Again I'm looking for a decent camera that could take good pictures like my Lumia 920 whether indoor or outdoor. Any help is greatly appreciated.
(I'm sorry about the long post and for the wrong techy terms that I might have used here)

G2 camera is excellent in my opinion. I never had a problem with it or had to install a modded camera on it. I didn't really use it but when I did the pictures were crisp & clear. I'm running AOSP now and the camera is still performing well. It all depends on what you want to use it for. The mods that you mentioned are great and if you ever have problems with the G2 camera flashing one of them will solve it. :victory:
It's exactly like what you've read. Shots with plenty of lighting are fantastic and stunning. Shots with lower lighting (as in indoors) are terrible with the stock camera--it takes way too long to take a shot after you hit the shutter button, as in 5 seconds sometimes. So if you have a moving target, you will miss the moment, or get a blurry mess.
Plus, the denoising algorithm is terrible. Detail on low light shots get lost and people's faces often look like a watercolor painting and unrealistic. Camera mods like xdabebb's help quite a bit, but still the camera has a lot to be desired.
Coming from the Lumia, you will be VERY disappointed.

yes he will, but compared to other android phones it is one of the best cameras available, for the next 2-3 months or so. there are some pretty saucy rumors about the s5 camera though.
I used to have an HTC One before picking up the LG G2 earlier this month and it had a great camera. Until it started malfunctioning with the purple/blue/pink tint issue. The low light performance was awesome and the audio recording was the best I've had on a phone due to the dual microphones that it had. I haven't really had a chance to test out the G2's camera much but it's been alright so far. Just disappointed in the low light and microphone performance. The G2 does capture a lot more details with more accurate colors in normal conditions because of the higher megapixel count though.
These are really the only pictures I took to compare the two cameras before I sent in my HTC One to my insurance company:

Here are some photos I took with my HTC One before the sensor went bad:

The camera in decent light and with still objects is great. Like others have said, it doesn't do too well in low light conditions or with moving objects. I would expect that with the speed in which the phone takes pictures, that it would do much better with moving objects but you do get a blurry mess. It's a fantastic phone in every other regard, however, the camera could use some improvement.
I love the G2's camera. If you don't think it takes good photos, just look at these. None of these are edited, and straight from the camera. Photobucket reduces the quality a bit as well.
Thanks everyone. So it looks like I can't get pictures as good as the ones I get in my 920 but it seems I can still get decent pictures. I think that should be enough for me. I'm not looking for digital camera quality pictures but just the ability to capture good moments and share it with others. As long as those pictures are not bad I should be ok with that (yes, I'm convincing myself! ).

Those are nice pictures. Were they taken using a camera MOD?

A mix really, some with the stock LG camera, some using the AOSP camera, and some using the 1.5.0 camera mod.

[Q] Camera performance after Jishnu/xdabebb mod?

Hi all, I 've been thinking of buying a new phone & I really like the g2 very much but the only thing that is stopping me is the camera performance.
Can someone please tell me after the Jishu/xdadebb mod how is the camera performance under low light, how is the autofocus in low light also is the continuous autofocus in the video problem resolved. How much is the shutter lag after the mod.
I really want to buy this device for the camera & its under my budget if the camera ain't good enough even after the mods I may go with oppo find 7a/oneplus one which are in the same budget but have better camera.
I dont capture my photos in low light. But the camera is pretty amazing with xdadebb mod, and Mi2Raw enables the G2 to capture raw footage as well.
The G2 and G3 has the same camera sensor, just that the G3 has a Z-Axis image stabiliser and laser autofocus. So if I were you, I'll go look at those camera comparisons on review sites comparing the G3, OnePlus One and the Oppo.
Edit: Video performance is pretty good too. xdadebb camera mod allows for tap to focus in video to focus your subject and it works well. It has object tracking too!
Edit 2: With dorimanx's kernel, I was able to turn down the mic gain when I was at a concert. That + the stereo recording = pretty awesome recording
Thanks @lowjinyik.
Anyone else using these mods please comment about the low light performace after the mod.
I haven't tried taking pictures in low-light conditions yet, I should, will do and compare later but under bright, sunshine outdoor, with Normal mode, I see virtually no difference in term of performance and image quality. There are several features that I haven't tried out yet.

The low light camera quality is good. The mod makes very little difference to low light pictures.
Thanks guys for your responses. I think I might go with oppo find7. It's better than the g2 in every aspect except battery life & OS updates. Which can be taken care by the VOOC charger & custom roms respectively.

Annoying Camera!

Hey, i have a lg g2 since last christmas and the camera is very good in some situations but in others is just hideous. Outside when it's sunny or "clear" weather the camera does a great job with details etc, in low light the focus is so so slow and and the camera itself is laggy as hell and the photo comes out ****. But my main problem is video recording, altought it records with high quality the constant focus and unfocus of the camera is anoying and when i save it and go to watch it the video is stuttering , it just isnt smooth or soft if u know what i mean, i have a ipod 5 who records better that this phone because the video comes out pretty smooth, can somebody help me fix it or it's the same for you?
I have installed XCam Lg v5.1.2 but i didnt notice any difference
I just want to be able to record with smoothness because i need to record my soccer games, thank you
I don't record video much so not much of experiences but totally agree with you on taking pictures. In good, bright condition, the iq is great but in other conditions, images look not so good, especially selfie in low-light, just horrible. I've tried all modes, HDR, Intelligent, Night, .... not much better.
My friend has an old iPhone 5, and we took a few shots at the same spot under the same "not ideal" condition, the iPhone 5 beats this 13MP, OIS-ready hand down.
I felt bad though.

yes the camera is horrible for this phone, for a 13 MP is really really bad, we cant take selfies unless its outside with good weather but the video recording makes me crazy
Front facing camera is only 2.1 mp anyway.

About the camera

I watched so many reviews on this device, I bought a 64GB variant. Camera is so average even on daylight, Front camera is straight rubbish in medium - low light conditions. G cam don't fix this either. Is it me or every device has this problem?

Yes, camera is bad in low light conditions, take a closer look at details on picture taken at night.
I don't really know about you guys, but mine is just straight up awesome. I was on a 7 day trip in Vienna with a friend of mine, made a bunch of photos, in maximum sun light conditions, medium light conditions, low light conditions, and the photos weren't bad at all. My friend actually picked a photo from my phone to upload on his instagram. (gotta add that he currently owns an iPhone XS Max)
The main camera is top notch, the wide and tele have terrible color depth, lens flares, purple fringing, noise.
GCam fixes those pretty well though.

The main camera has a competent sensor on paper, but in real life, even with gcam improvements, the results are far from stellar as the image lacks a little bit on fine detail, maybe due not good quality optics.
Of course, the front camera has difficulties in medium - low light but I think not more or less than many other devices.
This gcam version is specifically suited for low light conditions.

And for a more general purpose I would try this one:
