I'm looking for the best LCD density for Z1 cause I think 480 it's too high and I would like to hear your thoughts about it.
Which is the best for you and why?
360
Try it by yourself
If you feel it's too little, you can increase it a bit xD
For me its 440 or 441 - 460. Nav bar is not too big or too small. Apps are just the right size.
The main issue I've found is the dialer not fit properly on any kind of density beside 480. I found 441 really balanced.
408 best
440 is ideal.

It's easy
Install Xposed Framework, install App Settings module, set the DPI for Phone.apk (com.android.phone) 480
Reboot and your problem is gone

I was wandering because I saw a windows 8 screenshot and when I looked at via the photos app it filled the screen. It had 6 rows and everything appeared smaller because thta screenshot was taken probably with a higher res display. My laptop is only 1366x768. And I googled but couldn't find anything but found out that lowering something called DPI makes things smaller. Any way to do so.

Higher res screens are capable of more rows

Its not just the rows. Mainly everything on the screen is smaller which I like.
If your laptop was for some reason pre-configured for a low DPI, then you can adjust that in Control Panel (just type "DPI" in Start search and look under Settings). However, your laptop has a very low resolution (it is *just* higher than my phone...) so it's probably at 100% DPI and you just need a higher-res screen if you want to display more stuff on the screen at once.
Setting a <100% scaling factor, even if it were supported in Windows, would be a bad idea because some thin lines (such as, for example, text) would blur or vanish entirely.
Icons on windows are a fixed size. Don't know it from the top of my head but lets say its 64 pixels for a standard desktop icon (I like that number).
Take 2 laptops with 15" screens. One has a higher resolution (lets say a 1080p screen) than the other (720p). The one with a 1080p screen has more pixels in the same area, this is measured in either dpi or ppi. Dots/Pixels per inch.
Of course in the above scenario the 1080p screen is going to have a higher dpi.
Now lets assume we have a 64 dpi screen. This means in a row of pixels 1 inch long there are 64 pixels. Our lovely 64 pixel desktop icon is going to end up being 1 inch wide.
Then we get a 32 dpi screen. 64 pixels for our icon will end up being 2 inches.
Its a hardware issue. You can't just turn up the dpi of your screen. You can attempt to use software to output your desktop to a higher res and downscale it to fit your screen but this will distort text and give other issues. you can turn the dpi down on some devices, if you got your device new then the dpi will already be set to max.
If you expressly want smaller icons then your going to need a new laptop ideally, and I doubt you are quite that bothered about it

you could get a new laptop/moniter or highlight all the icons on the desktop and zoom out and they will become smaller
I can't find it, I heard it is possible since Android 7.0. So, is the option present in Axon 7?
I'm on A2017G (B01 Nougat 7.0) and it's possible, the setting is under Display

That's only changing the font size, not the actual resolution

There is no way to change the resolution only the display scale, and that's what this setting does
You can make it even smaller (or bigger) by setting a custom display scaling. Enable developer options -> then find a setting called smallest width. Then your custom value in it. For example I use 500. bigger values will make the screen show more content(make everything smaller)

no need for root. go in About phone, then tap build number 7 times. It'll enable developer options. This will appear in the advanced settings. then do as I said in previous post.
In terminal emulator:
Code:
wm size widthxheight
So it you wanted to change the resolution to 1080p:
Code:
wm size 1080x1920

Yeah, but for what I know, Android 7.0 supports changing resolution, am I correct? What about 1080p, or 720p, what should I type into ,,width: section?

May I ask what the benefit is for lowering the resolution?
On some Samsung phones you can change the resolution.
The benefit for the battery is nearly 0%

But there is no way to type ,,x" into the smallest wide. By default, it is 360 dp

go to Settings > Advanced > Developer Options and change the smallest width from 360 to the value you need.
410 to 430 good for me... i think 550dp will change it to tablet mode.

if you change the resolution (using build.prop) the stock apps won't scale good.. eg. Stock Dailer incall UI. ..
if you don't care abt stock appps.. root and change the build.prop thats the best option.
Try messing with the DPI. You can find some apps on the market that edit this value for you
can reducing resolution improve 3D gaming performance? like more fps. for example always get more than 30 fps which was not possible with high resolution.

if you're not getting more than 30fps on games I'd recommend you to check the settings. turn VSync off, and if that still doesn't help just lower some setting.
You can get more FPS by reducing the resolution but it's a headache, a bunch of stuff breaks until you restore to stock resolution and restart the phone.
Newer games have a resolution slider

Yes of course. If you lower the resolution (NOT DPI) the games will render at that lowered resolution, giving a performance boost. After change of resolution you should change the DPI as well so the icon, menu and app sizes arent too big or too small

Still I don't recommend it at all. Capacitive keys break. Keyboards may get all messed up. and the performance boost is rather negligible
If you're gonna try, get ready to use mipop a bunch...
Hi Guys,
I'm searching for the best settings for a crispy clear image on Mate 9. I want you guys to share your thoughts.
Wich Dpi is best? 480, 425, 400???
Wich Resolution is best? 1080x1920, smaller or bigger?
Let's begin ?
Edit:
My settings are: Resolution = 1440x2560
View Mode = Medium
Font size = Normal
But not very happy with these...
i use FHD with 560DPI, it causes some issues in certain apps, but the phone looks MUCH better with much more content filling the awesome 5.9 screen
I use Dpi 400 .
I assume you have to be rooted to change the dpi? Also would improving the density make it better for VR? Less obvious pixels and sde?

No need to be rooted to change dpi. You can use adb commands
400 with FHD is good for me, clear and more detail

Easy Dpi Changer on Play Store can do the trick.
i must have root on my phone to change resolution with Easy Dpi Changer?
I believe you can change it in developer options. No need to be rooted. Change smallest width.

What is the native dpi of the S5 screen (which may not be the default dpi)? I see 432 and 480 mentioned on the internet, but am unsure which is the actual native dpi that matches the screen size and resolution.
480 according to these topics: https://www.reddit.com/r/galaxys5/comments/4ubopf/what_is_the_default_dpi_of_the_s5/
https://forum.xda-developers.com/att-galaxy-s5/general/guide-change-dpi-s5-t2854750
that's why i hate stock roms of s5 when u change the dpi the camera and dialer size becomes unfit to the screen
I'm using samyux it has a fine dpi small but not smaller...
Its 480. I'm running mine at 380.

Hi,
Has anyone else noticed the fonts on the 2019 Tab A are a little fuzzy like the scaling isn't quite right? I managed to get a better look by [with root] changing dpi to 336 or 344 but still isn't perfectly sharp. Resolution for the tablet is stated as 1920x1200 but the scaling makes me suspect this might not be the true native resolution.
I've been trying to use multiples of 8 in my dpi testing, but does anyone have resolution/dpi settings to get this thing to look nice and crisp? It might be at 336 or 344 it's as good as it is going to get, but as I use the tablet for reading mostly, I would like to have the optimum resolution and dpi combo. Other 16:10 resolutions look more fuzzy to me than my 1920x1200 though.
Thanks!
