So i am a proud owner of a galaxy tab, and i dont see too much movement on our forum and since i know galaxy s is almost identical, i was wondering if i can use kernels/mods/apps for galaxy s to my tab.
I want to actively get involved in this proccess of beind a dev, but i was always too lazy to get it started.
Any help would be appreciated.
Hi guys,
I have been looking around for options to dual-boot on my Galaxy Note 4 SM-N910F. I have not been able to find anything... All of the options stop at the Galaxy Note 3.
I have looked around on the Google Play Store and the apps that allow you to dual-boot are the apps that don't support the Galaxy Note 4 or Samsung devices at all.
Has anyone found anything, or can anyone find anything on this subject? I'm not bricking my device as a guinea pig to see if any existing method works. A lot of effort replacing my phone through insurance and putting everything back on.
Ask here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2447534 this is for SG4 but also works on N3. Maybe it will work also on N4.

Thank you for your response quick response... Whilst this does answer most of the questions I do not think that there any any custom kernels for the Galaxy Note 4 that support the dual-boot function as of yet. I will have a quick look, followed by a more thorough look followed by a head-butting of my keyboard.
Thanks!
You're welcome ☺

Hi Everyone,
I am new to writing on the forums however I have read them over the last several years!
I am in the process of purchasing the Nexus 6P for 2 reasons
1)- Project Fi
2) Rooting- With regards to rooting your first phone if you all can go back to that time as I know most if not all of you are pros at it by now, I would very much appreciate to hear the mistakes you made if any and any advice in general. I have read all of the threads on rooting and I had a rooted Verizon s5 that a friend of mine did and I LOVED IT!! Unfortunately since I am on Verizon (don't kill me to much with the comments, unlimited data is the only reason) I am stuck with phone that I can't do anything with. I currently have the Note 5 and Note 4 and I know these cannot be rooted so its time to get the Nexus 6P and learn how to do it without bricking the phone!
So please if anyone would like to chime in, I would appreciate it any and all feedback greatly!!
Thanks everyone!

Way back when when I first rooted my (maguro) Galaxy Nexus, I didn't bother to read enough, learn how to do things for myself and used a toolkit. Of course there was a problem that I didn't know how to recover from, but luckily managed to figure things out enough to get through it. So read, read some more, then read more again. Oh, and skip the toolkit. Just follow Heisenberg's Guide. btw, Fi & the 6p are a great combo.
Agreed, follow the linked guide. If you follow the directions exactly, you should have no issues rooting it. Just do it right away as unlocking the bootloader wipes the phone. So any apps you installed or tweaks you make before doing that will be lost. I'm also on Verizon, and that is a very big part of the reason I went with the 6P, to have a rooted modern flagship phone on their network. But I have no regrets. It's a great smartphone. Just takes a little getting used to after owning Samsung's for a while.
Lol I've made my fair share of mistakes on the nexus 5 and even prior to that on the LG G2X. The thing about a nexus is that it's pretty darn difficult so hard brick. Most of the time if you just can't get the thing to boot, you can always fastboot flash stock images and or recovery if needed. Learning to use fastboot is a huge safety net for you with this device. I read Heisenberg's guide 10 times before rooting the device and I STILL had questions. Luckily, the nexus community here at XDA is the most hardcore, friendly and helpful android flash addicts that you'll find on the net. We're always here to help. Especially Heisenberg himself. He's always answering questions and explains proper procedures in a very clear, understandable manner. Read his guide, its now your android bible. Enjoy the 6p!
Awesome, Thanks for all suggestions, I will for sure read it again at least 10 more times! Feel free to keep the suggestions coming, Thank you everyone!
Learn the Fastboot method for everything!! It is reliable and takes out any third party toolkits.
Hey Guys, if you had the opportunity to purchase the Note 4 Developer Edition or the Nexus 6P which one would you chose? I found a guy selling the Note 4 locally, and since I had a note 4 I have a bunch of accessories for it already. But the more important question is which is better software wise and for rooting? Thanks!

The 6P beats the Note 4 hands down, especially when it comes to software and rooting. There is literally no phone available that's easier to modify than a Nexus.
Awesome, thanks so much Heisenberg!!! I am going with the 6p, and I can't wait to try your root method, thanks for all of your hard work!!!
Nexus 6p 64 gb ordered!! Thanks everyone, reading and re-reading everything as I type!
Hi Everyone, I don't know if this is the correct place to ask this question, but I have been studying the Heisenberg's guide root for beginners.
My main concern/question is that it states that Java is required for root. I currently do not have Java installed on my PC as I have read that it is "unsafe" I have a mac and a PC in which I can perform the root, however the guide is for PC. With that being said, does anyone know of a safe way to download Java on a Windows 7 machine? Or a link? If so please let me know, I would really appreciate it!
Thanks!

Safe way to download java would be to get it from Java themselves without the junk ask toolbar. - https://www.java.com/en/download/
Alternatively you can use something like ninite to stop the bloat install - https://ninite.com/java8/ (i'd go with this option as it simply downloads and installs without effort and no junk attached)
Thanks, I will check it out now!
Don't use the toolkit to root.
Hello,
I'm new here, I'm in a very bad up situation where I have to see if someone picked up my phone without my permission.
I'm depressed for 3 days now and I really need help with this.
I saw people using this code: *#*#4636#*#*
But I've learned that Samsung for some reason turned off this function and it's not working.
I want something similar, some method to see some sort of report of my apps usage in the past 4 days.
I can follow any instructions, even if I have to root my phone.
Please guys help me out.
I really really need this! I'll be so grateful!! Thank you.
I actually need some advice... I want to root my S8+ SM-G955U but I am... well scared. So I have read thread after thread about rooting as a noob like me should do. The problem I am running into is should I or am I going to regret it? I honestly don't grasp all of it. I am not completely stupid but I know I am treading into all new waters. I have been reading and reading in the forums for almost 2 years now and I've got to do something once and for all.
I guess I am asking if anyone can point me in the right direction for properly rooting my phone? Or at least the easiest for me to do. Any advice or anything that could help me would be beyond appreciated!
I don't want to be a 2 year noob when the 3rd year rolls around.
Thanks in advance.
Ask friend, who root phone. They no need same phone. Mabey not same phone but same brand. Probably they can walk you with basic steps first time. Also, watching some YouTube should help too.
