Hi!
So I followed Djembeys guide to root my s4 back when ME2/MF2(or smthn in that matter)was the newest firmware avable. But now I wanted to go back to stock and update my phone and as stated in the guide that would be no problem, well OTA didn't work so i did it via Kies. It worked as expected for a while before my phone started freezing and rebooting itself forever, like as soon as i get into the launcher.
Things I've tryed to do:
*Checking in download mode that everything is official, it is, and the phone doesn't seem to reboot while in download mode, should I flash a stock rom, I mean, what if the phone shuts off in the middle of the process?
*Doing a factory data reset via stock recovery, the "android" in recovery falls down and a triangle at his stomach. However the data reset worked, but it didn't solve the problem, still reboots but now when the phone is trying to set itself up.
What can i do guys? You think i can send it back to the store seeing everything is official in download mode? I'd rather not do that as I don't want to be without a phone for several weeks...
I'm downloading the MGA stock firmware which is the newest for the nordic countries(I am from Sweden), my phone is not branded.

Anyone got some advice for me?
Hi everyone I just recently purchased a used S4 the GT-i9500. Everything seemed fine until I got home. It detected my T-Mobile Sim fine but I could only access 2G data and could not connect to any WiFi network I came across. The rom was stock 4.2.2 and the phone was rooted pre purchase. So after fiddling around for a few minutes I discovered the previous owner had flashed TWRP v2.4.1.0 as his choice for a Custom Recovery. Now at this point I had decided to flash on a Custom Rom and of course I first made a backup before flashing on WanamLite. Now after attempting to flash it I immediately received a failure. I tried turning off the signature verification and it did not flash. Now in my frustration i attempted to wipe everything and tried flashing Omega Rom v14. Now i was able to go through with the installation and choose what I wished to install and when I pressed Install things went along smoothly until I hit the app SecSafetyAssurance.apk where it freezes. This is a bump that I've run into at least 5 times already. I changed certain options I wanted to install and eventually made it past this and I am prompted to reboot. Now when I do this to my dismay I just receive a black screen. Upon pulling out the battery and attempting to reboot I still receive a black screen. when I boot back into the Recovery and attempt to reboot the system from within TWRP it warns me saying No OS Installed Are you sure you want to reboot. Im at a loss of what to do. I have read about other members suggesting to use ODIN but I am very confused about how to access Download Mode in order to flash a stock rom from SamMobile.com. I could use a few tips or maybe a few options that I'm left with in order to obtain the operation of my phone again. I would like to get my phone back and Im sure some users can relate to how Im feeling so any help at all would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much in advanced!

Flashing through odin is one option.... some users have reported that there were some hiccups when installing omega 14 because of the aroma script.....try a different rom...there are many others to choose from....or you could flash stock via odin as said on the earlier comment good luck

Today I attempted to use ODIN to flash now I am still currently attempting this. When I press the volume down key, power, and home button it takes me to the custom recovery TWRP instead of download mode. The phone did this when I first purchased it. When I still had what appeared to be the stock rom it would always take me to the recovery. When I would use the volume up instead of down it would take me to the factory test mode now mind you this happened when the OS was still installed. When i try that combination now i just receive a blank black screen. Are there any other ways to boot into download mode?
Hi guys, I am new here, I am now finding help anywhere about my Note III recent problem...
My note III is SM-N9005 Malaysia version, I did root it with CF Auto Root and I had been using it without problems until yesterday morning,
This is my case :
I realized my alarm was written "Clock has been not responding" and I lost my network service, then I tried to restart my phone,
Since I restart, it became worst, my phone went into boot loop and sometimes freeze on the "Samsung Galaxy Note 3" screen,
But in a few times of reboot, it will be able to boot into homescreen, but still no service for the network, and everything processes work extremely slow, even freezing and crashing!
What I tried to do to fix it :
-I went to the Samsung service center, and the technician said that my warranty is voided (Ofcourse I knew it), and he told me that this problem is due to software problem instead of hardware.
-I did flash my kernel with stock kernel again which was downloaded from Sammobile, but it did not fix my problem,
-And I tried to hard reset and factory reset of my phone, it did not help too,
-I am also tried to clear cache and dalvik cache and reboot the device, it didn't seems working...
I have already done what I could but I still yet to fix my phone, what should I do now, any experts can guild me?? T^T
Thank you

I didn't really know about EFS while I root my phone, I just knew it recently due to my current issue, so I didn't backup it....

check your internal card or sd card for a folder called Backups or something similar, if your running a custom rom normally EFS is automatically stored there if your custom rom does do EFS backup automatically at install....if not do a search on the forum for EFS RECOVERY or re-flash your rom it may help or may not, but im sure it wont though...
also read though the link i sent you there maybe some think there that may help you
you can try to do install new firmware with odin 3:09 kitkate see how it behaves ....

-I went for a search for the backup folder in either of the storage mentioned by I didn't see a file called "backup"... I think I deleted it since the factory reset I've done yesterday, I went to many forums hat talk about EFS, and it wont help my problem cos all of them are talk about "Backup/recover", where I didn't backup my EFS earlier...
-I tried for the IMEI code, that's the reason I know about EFS, it shows "null/null", and most the information are showing unknown, such as baseband version, IMEISV, IP Address, Bluetooth Address.
-My current situation is whatever I flash into my phone, it just wont help, the problem didn't improvise at all...
Thanks..

download Stock firmware from sammobile or samsung updates
turn phone off, boot into recovery mode wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache partition
turn phone off, boot into download mode
use odin v 3.09 load your downloaded firmware into AP, check update boot loader box, don't check anything else and click start.
once it finishes flashing, it will reboot by itself.
if it fails then you might want to repeat the process above one more time.
if still fails u might want to do emergency recovery via kies.
Good luck and hope this helps.

Hi guys, I think have some new clues to determine my problem now
I flashed a custom recovery into my phone this morning,
and I realise that my /system, /efs and /firmware-modem is unmounted,
I tried to mount them, it was successful, but when I reboot the device, the problem still there,
Boot loop, no IMEI, no Baseband Version, Lag Processes,
and I went back to recovery again, I realised they have been unmounted again...
Any idea what is the problem guys??
Thx

Hi there,
I have tried the kies emergency recovery method, but it was unsuccessful,
My note 3 was connected to the kies, but when I run Emergency Firmware Recovery,
My device was instantly disconnected with kies
And I have also tried the Firmware Upgrade and Initialisation,
The Kies showed me that my device is not supported with initialisation...
Anything I should do??
Thx

i actually found a different kernal in the omega thread and that seemed to sort it, thanks tho
I found the guide to install Lollipop onto the S4 and decided to try. I had backed up everything with Titanium app, then backed up everything with Safestrap before continuing. I did a factory reset in SafeStrap but then also formatted /system..my phone rebooted and is now stuck in a boot loop with no SafeStrap screen.
Went into recovery mode and did another Factory Reset, this stopped the boot loop but now it is frozen at Galaxy S4 screen, I'm guessing because there's absolutely nothing there for the phone to boot into.
I am now trying to flash stock Kitkat using Odin but now I've come across another problem.
Booting the phone into download mode does not work either. I have tried two laptops, one of them worked with Odin before this mixup so the drivers are fine. Neither laptops detect the phone, so Odin never finds it for me to flash the stock rom.
Recovery mode is the same thing, the laptop never detects the phone for adb to work.
One odd thing is that when the phone is plugged in the phone is stuck at the empty battery with the loading circle but the circle is frozen. It never moves past this screen to the battery that shows the charge percentage.
Is there anything I can download to fix this problem using revovery's "apply update from external storage"?
My phone is SGH-i337 and before I messed everything up it was on 4.3 MK2. The only option I have is to use the Android Recovery. Where is the MK2 rom that I can flash using the recovery?
It should work. Wiping /system is unrelated to download mode.
- Different usb cable
- Different usb port
- Reinstall drivers
- Different pc
- Run Odin as admin
Run ODIN As an Admin it'll work
Thanks guys. As it turned out, two of my cables only charged and didn't have a data connection. The third was actually found by my PC. Flashed 4.4.2 onto it and have so many problems I want to go back to 4.3
I have a safestrap backup of my 4.3. Can I restore that backup without any complications since I am now on 4.4.2?

My main problem is that when I enable/disable wifi my phone freezes for 2 to 3 minutes and it never saves my network for auto connect. I have to input my WPA password every time. I've deleted wpa_supplicant.conf in both /system/etc/wifi and /data/misc/wifi like guides have stated but I still have the issues.
Also a few of my apps stop working randomly (opens, begins to load, then closes) and I need to uninstall/reinstall in order for them to work again.
A lot of apps like Transparent Weather Clock don't save my settings and go back to default after a few minutes.
I thought this was a permission problem but I did the "fix permissions" in safestrap and the problems are still here..

Downloaded the zip, went into stock recovery and tried updating. It gave an error "error code 7" in /tmp/ I forgot the exact zip that gave an error but it showed the error twice. Phone rebooted and now it's wiped all my data and on stock 4.4.2..so it didn't update.

I factory reset then tried the NB1 to NJ1 OTA update in the 4.4.4 root thread. It updated just fine in recovery and now there is no more wifi issues. Thank you very much for all the help.
Apologies if I'm in the wrong section.
I updated my s4 to lollipop via Odin and it was successful.
Problem is, when I go on apps like YouTube or Google Now. It says can't establish a reliable connection and it keeps happening. On my brother's phone it's fine. Today I booted into recovery mode to check if I installed CWM (just in case I forgot) then when I rebooted the phone, the screen was black and it was showing apps were force closing. I rebooted into recovery again, wiped cache yet still same problem so I reset the entire phone and when I tried signing into Google, it said can't establish a reliable connection and this happened once earlier. Can someone please help me!!
I have installed the correct firmware
I would start with a factory reset.
And CWM is highly outdated and shouldn't be used anymore. Use TWRP to avoid possible conflicts.
Yeah I do factory data resets but after doing it, when I try to sign into Google, it says 'can't find a reliable connection' then I'd have to flash the stock firmware via odin again. When I try installing TWRP on odin, it freezes. I tried different versions of odin but still freezes. It might be the TWRP I chose but I can't find any that end with md5
