Cache Clear Through Recovery - Verizon Motorola Droid Turbo General

Does anyone else's Turbo take a relatively long time to clear the cache in recovery? I've done it a few times now and each time it has taken close to 10 minutes. Other phones I've tried usually finish the clear in a minute or so? Is anyone else seeing the same thing?

Mine always takes several minutes. I've never actually timed it, but I would guess 5 or 6 minutes?

Mine takes about 20min every time.

IMO I think that a DT thing across the board, at least with the XT1254. I have 7 other friends with the DT and they all experience the same thing( and so do I )

It is a painfully slow process on the DT.

My maxx even in cm recovery takes 10 minutes to clear

Me too I think it's related to the recovery both are unfinished versions of recovery

How is anyone clearing the cache? Going by the steps online, I can't even get to a point to clear the cache. When it says click up to select, it just goes up to the option above. Hitting power just boots the phone. Can i have TWRP yet? - XT1254

When you boot into recovery press and hold the volume up button and tap the power button once to activate the recovery command list

same here on maxx 7/ 10 min

Same here. Not really an issue tho

What it takes to clear the cache and the cell is in operation ... the difference is that everything is done from the recovery while the other cell .. makes the second stage when turn on the phone ... still need to wait a while.
sorry for English

has anyone tried to clear cache after using the mofo root tool? I tried to get into the recovery so I could clear cache, but am unable to do so...When I select recovery I just get the green android icon with the red icon on top. Any advice?

see post #9 in this thread,
Hold the volume up button and tap the power button once when you are in recovery

Yes it takes long to erase cache. I do it one a week.

I'm having the same issue. I follow the instructions to get to recovery to a "T" and still get the little "dead" Andy with the red exclamation warning triangle.
This is, of course, after rooting with mofo root.
EDIT: This is what worked for me - power off phone > hold volume down and power until fastboot loads > use volume up/down to scroll to Recovery > press power to select > once dead andy screen appears, hold volume up and tap (do not hold) power > recovery should load.

[Q] motorola bravo stuck on motorola boot screen

im trying to get my Motorola bravo out of the motorola boot screen. i rooted my phone with superonclick. that wasn't the problem, what was the problem was that. i wanted to install a new font on the system. i changed the file name because i read this stupid artical about doing that. and now i am stuck on the Motorola screen. i have already wipe/factory reset and called at&t and they say i can return the phone and get another. but if there is anyone out there that could help with this. then i would be a verryyy happy person! cause i wanna do this and get back to my live
Out of curiosity...What method did you use to wipe data/factory reset?
I found myself in this situation a couple of times and factory reset + wipe data worked.
Just so we are on the same page, what I did is have phone completely off, press volume down and hold, then press power button till Motorola comes out, then release both buttons.
Android robot with yellow triangle comes out. Press the lower right hand part of the screen and you should see a few options on the top. Use up and down to select factory reset and wipe data, press the bottom portion of the screen to confirm, touch the OK a few times if you feel the bar isn't moving.
Then you should be prompted that your phone has been reset and you are OK to reboot.

I'm having the same problem, but nothing happens when i press the lower right hand part of the screen.
I rooted it with superoneclick. the problem arose when I tried to flash a bravoX rom. Any suggestions would be extremely helpful.

Try using the volume rocker. If you press them both at the same time the menu should come up.

i did this but no robot came up. still stuck at motorola symbol. all i did was root and install bootstrap recovery. i need help since this is my only phone.

bricked it

So I picked an A7 last night at compusa. I tried to install the rom so I can run the google market place after rebooting it would just flash elocity on the screen and then reboot. So I got booted in to recovery mode and went to re-flash it with the latest firmware. Now when I power it on on the screen powers on for a split second and then powers down and I can't get it in to recovery mode. Well It's going back to the store to get exchanged. Any ideas on when I did wrong so I won't do it to the next one?
Only press and hold bottom power for 10-15 seg
Press and hold the power button for 15-25 seconds till you see the robot, then touch the home to enter recovery.
search: move up
return: move down
home: enter recovery
menu: select
MAKE SURE you clear the cache before and after ROM installation. You may have to do system wipe (factory reset) as well.

I did the same thing to mine. I did not clear the old data out before i flashed the new. After I cleared data out and reflashed it was fine.
Press power like you were turning on the device until the green lights come on
Release, then press (and hold?) power until you see "Hold Power for Recovery Mode" on the screen
Release, then press and hold power again until you see the recovery menu start to boot
It will reboot to an android with an exclamation point, this is the recovery menu
Then to navigate this screen, use HOME to display the menu text, Search = Up, Back = Down, Menu = enter.
go down and wipe data/reset
it will confirm thats what you want to do
then get back to menu and apply sdcard: update zip
it will do a little bit then go up to reboot system now
and apply and it
hope that helps
So I tried for several hours last night to get in to recovery mode. All I could do was get the screen to flash for a split second then stay blank. Took it back to the compUSA store today and they exchanged it no questions asked. So I tried flashing the mod again today something on the getting to the elocity screen and rebooting. But I got it back in to recovery reset it to factory defaults and flashed it to the newest firmware update and I was good. So the newest update comes with apps that can only be bought in the marketplace.. What is up with that?

Just start again, sometimes it messes up, but you generally just start again with flashing the clockworkmod. Make sure the download wasnt corrupted by doanloading everything again though, although ignore the bit about adb rboot bootloader, you need to start the phone manually by use power + volume-down key combination to get into bootloader when its powered off and continue from point 5.
Thanks, I will give that a try

Relac, its actually pretty hard to completely bust these things. Dont quote me on that though lol
Don't freak out. I'm sure you're fine.
Unlocking the bootloader on my N10 caused me to hang at the X. Wiping data fixed it for me. Try the following:
1. Reboot into Fast Boot
2. Select Recovery using volume rocker. Hit power to select. You'll get the android mascot with the red exclamation point.
4. Press Power and Volume Up at the same time.
5. Choose to wipe all data. Confirm the selection.
6. Reboot.

So I didn't originally flash the recovery image, just booted into it. So I tried that again, but there is nowhere to find the SU_BusyBox_Pack.zip. I tried the sideload method, but ADB can't find my device any more. It shows nothing when I do adb devices.
what else can I try ?
Were you able to try wiping data through the stock recovery?

I got stuck after just booting into recovery as well and immediately exit. Just use the volume key and change it until you see recovery, without going into it, I just fastboot flash recovery recovery.img from pc, then factory reset.

i had a cyanogenmod for few months and this morning suddenly after i turn off my alarm clock the phone rebooted, and he now stuck in a boot loop of the cyanogenmod logo(blue circle), i tried to enter to recovery mode(power+vol down) and it shows me android with an ! logo and nothing else
i tried to flash with rsd 5.7 to stock and it still stuck on the boot logo(motorola logo) and still can't enter recovery mode
i tried to flash also to root sbf(BL7 if it matters) and the same thing
don't know what to do else, any help?
i have defy+

any help?
edit:i did the mcgyver solution to the battery, worked and i get to the bootloader with battery ok status, but still try every sbf and it stuck on "reboot your phone manually" on the rsd and when i get the battery out and put back in it just continue to loop =\

I've had that happen several times. Sometimes clearing Cache works. Most of the times you have to wipe /data partition with Custom Recovery. Now, after flashing with RSD you must go into Stock Recovery, and wipe /data with Stock Recovery. That will get your phone to boot up.
That "android with an ! logo" is the Stock Recovery. If you were on CM you would have had 2init installed, so to go to the Bootmenu/Custom Recovery, you have to press the VOL - button when the blue light turns on, not before, or else you might go to Stock Recovery.
When I flash with RSD, I always wait for the phone to reboot, and right when it reboots, I press the VOL + button so that it goes back into Bootloader, that way in RSD it shows the "Pass" message right away.

so i cannot clear cache or wipe any thing =\
edit: when i need to see the blue light? because i get only red(to a second when i turn on) and white when it connected mcgyver style

Well, it seems like you've never used the Stock Recovery before. When you get to that screen you need to press both Volume + and - so that it shows the options.
With some stock SBFs I think you have to press the bottom left or right corners of the touchscreen for it to show the options, don't remember which side it is, and sometimes it's hard to hit the right spot, but it's there alright. Try with both volume keys first.
If you do manage to get it to show the options, do a Factory Reset, which wipes Data for you. Although, if you just flashed a stock ROM with RSD, there should be no blue light, just so you know.

defy stuck on boot loop
Mines doing this boot loop after running great for about 5 months. Seems I'll be able to get it back using methods detailed here. But is there a way I can keep my sms's bearing in mind I've not performed a back up for the last 5 months?
Anyone?
Does the advanced backup utility backup my sms data, so that i can do a wipe data factory reset?

Issues with System Update

I have a strange issue with System Uupdate and am not sure if it's causeing my phone to be buggy.
If I check my System Updates Tab I get Last System Update: "Software not updated to G935VVRU2APB5" Failed - Mar 29 2016....error code 454
If I then go and check for new system update, I get "Your Samsung ....is up to date. No update is necessary at this time."
If I then check System update history I see "Software updated to G935VVRS2APB4 Mar 19, 2016..."
However when i check about phone my Baseband version is G935VVRU2APB5.
Anyone know what do I do to get this cleared up?
Thanks!
Since there's not really a way that I've seen to wipe cache without root, (you do have ADB but even with we don't have access to those partitions) (to the best of my knowledge) so unfortunately a factory reset is more than likely your only option.
This happened to me also. Glad I'm not the only one.

You can wipe the cache by powering off the phone and then holding down the Volume Up, Home, and Power button until the phone vibrates. Let go of the power button but continue to hold the others. Use the volume buttons to scroll down to "Wipe Cache Partition" and press the Power button.
Hope this helps.
