So I picked an A7 last night at compusa. I tried to install the rom so I can run the google market place after rebooting it would just flash elocity on the screen and then reboot. So I got booted in to recovery mode and went to re-flash it with the latest firmware. Now when I power it on on the screen powers on for a split second and then powers down and I can't get it in to recovery mode. Well It's going back to the store to get exchanged. Any ideas on when I did wrong so I won't do it to the next one?
Only press and hold bottom power for 10-15 seg
Press and hold the power button for 15-25 seconds till you see the robot, then touch the home to enter recovery.
search: move up
return: move down
home: enter recovery
menu: select
MAKE SURE you clear the cache before and after ROM installation. You may have to do system wipe (factory reset) as well.

I did the same thing to mine. I did not clear the old data out before i flashed the new. After I cleared data out and reflashed it was fine.
Press power like you were turning on the device until the green lights come on
Release, then press (and hold?) power until you see "Hold Power for Recovery Mode" on the screen
Release, then press and hold power again until you see the recovery menu start to boot
It will reboot to an android with an exclamation point, this is the recovery menu
Then to navigate this screen, use HOME to display the menu text, Search = Up, Back = Down, Menu = enter.
go down and wipe data/reset
it will confirm thats what you want to do
then get back to menu and apply sdcard: update zip
it will do a little bit then go up to reboot system now
and apply and it
hope that helps
So I tried for several hours last night to get in to recovery mode. All I could do was get the screen to flash for a split second then stay blank. Took it back to the compUSA store today and they exchanged it no questions asked. So I tried flashing the mod again today something on the getting to the elocity screen and rebooting. But I got it back in to recovery reset it to factory defaults and flashed it to the newest firmware update and I was good. So the newest update comes with apps that can only be bought in the marketplace.. What is up with that?

Hi guys,
My Mrs. Orange SanFran has all of a sudden decided it doesnt want it's screen touched anymore. All the hard buttons are working and can not see any other issues. Seems there are several people who have experienced it but it seems to resolved itselfon a restart but her's isn't, no matter how long I take the battery out or pressing the reset under the battery cover I can't use the screen making it useless.
Any ideas? I stuck a custom Rom of 2.2 on it when first got it but can't remeber which one, maybe modaco Kitchen R12 Rom.
Cheers
Reboot to recovery, Wipe both Dalvik and normal cache, and restart. If that doesn't help, do a factory reset / wipe data, and restart. If that doesn't help re-install the rom.
Thanks for the tip, but I tried to enter recovery by holding down volume key when powering up but a screen breifly loaded that had the small text "android" written upsidedown but then just goes on loop of the screen and the standard screen, can't do anything.
Holding up volume whilst powering on doesn;t do anything and because I can't use the touch screen I can't access any recovery apps through the phone OS.
It's weird cause I've used to recovery mode on phone boot before as first ROM didn't work, so I know the recovery module worked before, no idea why not now. :-s
Could be either bad flash/root or faulty hw. Google "de-bricking a ZTE Blade".
Thanks again. Came across a very thorough article on modaco but unfortunately the phone won't do anything than a normal startup when holding the up volume or up and menu, so can't try any of the suggestions.
The volume buttons do work though as moved the volume in the OS
Just to be sure: you did first press & hold the volume down button, and then press & hold the power button? You have to hold them both down until the recovery menu pops up. I can take even 10 seconds or more.
If everything fails, try TPT flash. It should solve if there is no hardware issue.
My Atrix has been going in to reboot ever since the last OTA update. Usually it would start doing this once a week and I could remove the battery for 10 mins and it would come back and work fine for about a week.
Yesterday it started again but can not get it to stop. It won't even stay on long enough to do a factory reset.
I stopped by an art store and they were no help, they just gave me a number to call so they could have online tech try to help me. They stepped me through the standard take the battery out, try to do the factory reset (even after I told then I tried all of this stuff) they told me to hold the power key and both up & down volume keys at the same time (that did not do anything or may be I was not doing it right)
Finally they are sending me a replacement (refurb) phone that I have to wait 6 days to get and from what I have been reading on the forums it will most likely have problems too.
I had to go back to my old samsung windows phone and its been less than 24 hours and I am getting the shakes not having my android.
Any other ideas on how to get my phone to stop rebooting constantly?
Can you get into recovery even if it's stock recovery just turn off and hold the vol- key and tape the power key it will boot to a screen with fastboot press vol- untill you see android recovery press vol+ and wait for it to boot in to recovery if you have clockwork recovery the hit reset to factory and if you have stock recovery then press both vol-+ at the same time and then press reset to factory

Thanks,
Your advice was very helpful. I was able to reset my matrix.
Hi all,
Got this phone last week. It's been really laggy and basically unusable, it even lags when receiving calls and I miss half of them from being unable to answer. I was advised to wipe the cache partition, but the recovery menu is in Chinese. I got in touch with Motorola support who first tried to get me to delete all my data in the Chinese recovery menu, then gave me instructions to wipe the partition in English which I can't follow because the menu is in Chinese, and then said they couldn't help further. I can't find any other examples of Motorola phones with a Chinese recovery menu online.
Really not sure what to do!
Thanks for reading.
When I pressed power+volume down, phone booted into some Chinese screen, but it was not recovery, it was I think a testing menu. You might have pressed the same buttons. To boot to recovery, press power+volume up, this will launch a menu, keep pressing volume up to select recovery, then press volume down to launch recovery, after launching recovery you'll see no command screen, there you should hold power button and press volume up, this will launch recovery. Hope it helps.
That worked, thank you! Motorola were less than useless. Much appreciated.
In case it helps anyone, I fixed the lagging today by installing a new version of google play services, which I found by googling. Made everything better.
Please confirm which version of Google Play services you installed as I have the same problem.

You have to hold Power button and tap volume up. Don't press both buttons simultaneously, hold Power, while holding Power tap volume up. If it does not work, then a system update might have changed the process (though highly unlikely I think).

Stock images for e3 Power are available somewhere in the forum. Try flashing stock images. By the way there is no need to format userdata while flashing recovery.
Okay i managed to figure it out spent 5 houres or so had to use SP_Flash_TooL and some USB VCOM drivers for phone this can only be used on MTK chips.
trust me i just saw this post every google search is saying stuff about pressing volume down like it works XDA developers are life and life savers been using this since like 8 years ago and it still going strong had to leave my first comment
My huawei y511-u30 mobile is showing chineese in recovery mode and its not working also. As i want to flash my rom unable to get device detected by pc also
Recently I have updated the firmware to 8.1. by using Odin successfully. However, the Internal Storage was reduced to the half only. In trying to fix this, I reflashed it with 'Nand-Erase' option checked (stupidly!). Then everything gone wrong.
- Bootloop (Struck on SAMSUNG logo)
- No recovery
I reflashed without checking 'Nand-Erase' but still not working, bootloop.
Then I installed/flashed TWRP from Odin again. It was successful, but very sadly I can't do anything:
- Unable to restore backup
- No Factory Reset/Wiping Date, Cache etc.
- No Power off
- Unable to Mount
- Internal Storage show 0MB.
Have you ever faced this problem? Can any one help me please. I am really in need of your suggestion and advice.
SOLVED!
After browsing through lots of pages, I found a solution which works for me. Even though my problem has been solved, I will just put the solution here, in case anyone may face the same problem with me. Follow the Steps below...
Reboot into Recovery (Press volume up, home and power button at same time)
Phone will reboot, leave power button but keep holding other 2 buttons.
After you see android/system update installing screen, leave these 2 buttons
Wait for few seconds and phone will show 'no command' then press volume button 3/4times and system recovery will open
with volume keys go to "wipe cache" and press power key.
after that select "wipe data/reset" and press power key.
after that select reboot phone and press power key
now phone will go to Samsung logo screen and you may think that it is again stuck in bootloop
But no, wait for some time->for me it was less than 4-5 min
and you will see the installing apps and other messages on screen
DONE!
Be Happy
Very considerate for you to post that info up for others. Thank you.
My note 4 wont stay on not even long enought to login to the play store, it just freezes for a second and reboots.
would it be possible to fix it with a custom rom and theres a way to install without installing any app on the phone
Hey there, you can try to do a factory data reset if the phone boots into recovery mode.
NOTE: A factory data reset will wipe the whole device including the internal storage.
To enter into recovery mode, power off the phone. Then, hold the vol up + home + power buttons together till you see the Samsung splash screen. When the splash screen comes, release the power button and continue holding the volume up and home buttons till it boots into recovery.
Once it's in recovery mode, you can use the volume down button to scroll to the 'Wipe Data/ Factory Data Reset' and then hit the power button to select the option.

Okay. Does it boot into Download Mode?
To enter into download mode, power down the phone. Similar to the recovery boot process. Just that instead of the volume up button, you need to hold the volume down button.
If it does boot into download mode. Does it stay on or give you the same problem?

Maybe you can try installing the firmware through Odin. It may fix things. Else it could be an eMMC failure.
It could be a battery problem. I had kinda the same issues (random reboots that became more and more frequent and at some point the phone barely booted). So i ordered a new battery and problem is solved, phone is up and running again. If you can, try another battery just to be sure that this is your case. Also, the worst scenario is that some people reported random reboots when emmc memory failed. I hope this is not your case
