A power pack that has Bluetooth? I was thinking WTH? But this thing is awesome. When I ordered my DT it was called the "employees bundle" I got several goodies with it and one was this Motorola power pack micro that goes on your key chain. I didn't really think a lot of it I've had several backup power packs in the past. I hadn't really even looked at it till today because the battery on this thing is so powerful I haven't needed it. So I got to looking at it today and I noticed there was a little button and a blue light. Turns out this thing connects to your turbo by bluetooth through the "Moto Connect" app and you can use it to find your phone and you can also use your phone to find the power pack. also your phone will tell you how much power is left in your backup power pack. pretty damn cool if you ask me
It certainly sounds like a neat accessory. However, do you think it is worth the $39.99 as advertised on their site. I have been looking to get a battery pack but $39.99 seems like alot for 1,500mAh. The "Power Bank" OnePlus is going to release will be $14.99 for 10,000 mAh
Edit:
I must say though. Having a power pack in a key chain form factor is awesome. Always have it on you and 1500mAH is enough to give you a little boost. I guess its really a toss up for what I need it for.

Well for its size it does pretty good. I have some bigger ones that dont do as good as this one. But I really think your paying for the one other technology in the device. But honestly if I had not gotten it free I probably wouldn't have given it a second look and realized it had the Bluetooth function. I probably would have just thought it was just an over priced battery pack because it has the Motorola name on it. LOL I never "loose" a phone but I do misplace it around the house all the time and for that I love it. plus I love the fact that the phone tells you how much charge it has as where other battery packs its just a guessing game.
Also like that you can use your phone to find it also especially if it is on your key ring

Thanks brother. I am going to get one of these for me and one for my wife. I really wanted one of those damn moto keylinks but could never find them in stock. Here's a couple of other options I found if anyone else is interested.
Amazon (White) - 31.99 - http://www.amazon.com/Motorola-Quar...words=Motorola+Quartz+Canvas+Portable+Battery
MobileFun (Black)- 24.99 + 2.99 Shipping - http://www.mobilefun.com/48774-moto...GnhXwA8eHIJqsuD_QCnxG4aEIC5qUrwyaCxoC8zvw_wcB
I just bought 2 from MobileFun. Total price: $52.97. Pretty good deal!

No prob. from what I understand this does about the same thing as the moto keylink plus its a battery pack
I figured you could get it cheaper somewhere else. I just shared the link to the official Moto site cause I figured it would have the most info about it .
I don't know if any of you follow woot.com, but they have daily/weekly deals and oftentimes powerbanks roll through.
As a matter of fact, they have a page for it right now. I'll keep an eye out for a keychain version. That sounds very handy.

Exactly. Kind of glad I didn't get the keylink now. This appears to have the same functionality PLUS a battery pack for close to the same price as the keylink. :good:
To be honest get a bigger battery for the money and use moto voice to find your phone, if that doesn't work then ring your phone from: Motorola connect chrome extension, Android device manager, or qpair if you have a tablet

True. But this device will also let you use your phone to find your keys also. It works both ways I think it's really meant to be a "finding device" first and it happens to be a battery pack for tight situations in case you need it.

I agree its nice to have both. If I had like an iPhone sized battery
I have never ever had this phone die on me(except when I wake up next morning and didn't plug it in. And then I have a turbo charger
I haven't looked but I'd be surprised if there weren't cheaper/better key finders.
Its nice I just think for the money and with the battery in this phone there are better alternatives. Just my .02¢

I just paid for my new HTC Touch HD I got on eBay last night and it should be shipped out from down under pretty soon. So, I guess that means HTC can now announce all of their cool next generation phones. At least that's how it usually works when I buy something high tech. Anyway, I'm looking forward to getting it and going through the process of installing all the software onto it.
congrats mate!!!
im sure ul enjoy it , i do mine
the only thing i feel im missing out on is the app store for the iphone
but that said i still wouldnt swap mine if the chance arose
also give spb mobile shell 3 a look for something a bit different
congratulations! don't worry since you can have fun with the HD for months before anything new comes out, is tested well, and stable!
there has already been a few new phones announced from htc like 1-2months ago, think there's alredy 1 maybe 2 of them already out or due out shortly.

Where can i buy HD for about 450-500 usd, and where the visa virtuon card is accepted, and is guaranteed that they will ship the pda to me in europe?
I would say eBay as well and then someone who accepts PayPal. Maybe this could also help (sry for bad google translation) you.

You can also do a direct bank transfer with these guys, and they gave me good service in the past. I know it's a bit more than you mentioned, but that's the going rate, unless you want to try marktplaats?

Yes. I've flashed Dutty's rom on it and I've downloaded some other programs I plan to add. I'm learning things as I go but so far I like everything except:
1 The screen goes black during a call. How do I get the screen back up? What if I have to "press one for English"? There's no keypad.
2 Whle trying to delete calls from teh call history I've accidently called people a few times.
3 While trying to install the ROM, which took about an hour, my wife was trying to call me to pick her up fom the metrorail station. She had to wait an hour since I don't have any other phone. Boy was she pissed.

Well its half of what google is charging for their dock (obviously). I have read a ton of reviews on both devices and you can't go wrong with either one. One pro is that it has a much bigger lip to hold your phone in. One con is that you can't hook it up to a speaker system like the google one can, at least thats what i've been told. I'm ordering the google dock later this week but if I was in your situation, i'd probably go with the one on ebay. I hope this helps.

Yeah the google dock only charges the battery in your phone. Judging by your second statement, the non-google charger is the way to go. Let us know how it works out for you, i've heard nothing but good things about it.

Speaking in general, I can't wait to get mine!
I am absolutely loving mine. Hope you get yours soon!
This is a phenomenal upgrade from the Hero. I'm really pleased with the phone, again another polished device from HTC.
Eagerly awaiting root and gingerbread!
Picked it up yesterday. Absolutely love it. Quadrant standard is 1500+ and it beat the hell out of a stock Evo. Battery life is good but want to know more about its is processor chip..
how do you like the keyboard? specifically how does that square dpad feel? (is it capacitative or an actual button)

I love the keyboard which reminds me of the G1's. The dpad is a physical button and to be honest I have not used it that much.

when using advanced task killer, how much memory do you guys usually have? i'm sitting at around 140MB but right after i reboot the phone and kill apps i got to 190MB. my evo was around 230MB after reboot and around 170MB after running for a while.
you think custom roms will help memory management and get all this crap off here? i thought the evo and the shift had the same amount of RAM (512mb)...
but man did i miss my keyboard. went to the evo, yelled at my phone for the keyboard probably 50 times a day, raised blood pressure im sure... now i got the physical keyboard, no guessing now.
the only thing I miss is the Evo screen size, but I am very very very happy with this phone. I can't stop playing with it. Gameboid with real buttons as controls makes it so much easier to play FFVI :-D I can't wait to overclock the snot out of this thing.
In stock?
If I haven't pre-ordered at this point, is it realistic for me to be able to find somewhere with this in stock tomorrow morning?
Another thing the Shift has also is the New Flip Clock. Although, I do know you can flash it on the Evo. However, you have to be rooted in order to it.
Yeah I picked mine up from radio shack two days ago for $150. Hell I was the first one the store sold and I went in at like 7pm. The reps didn't even know they had the phone on display yet.
yep, just walked into bby and came out with one 15min later...

Edit: I had a question here, but I found an answer to it elsewhere. Be back later probably.
you can use PDAnet for now. It's a pay app, but you can use it free. Free version doesn't do secure sites. I'm gonna use it till I get rooted.

As soon as I got my TP2 I flashed the rom over to MightyRom, and I used the Internet Sharing it had to tether to my laptop and that worked fine with my current Sprint plan.
Now I got the Shift with the stock rom and it is saying that I need to buy an additional $30 a month add on to my plan in order to tether to my laptop...
Anyone know a way to get around this with an app or a rom?

Its was launched just today but has been available at radioshack and bb for a couple of days. The only way for tethering would be to root it and then use a custom rom. That is what I know imho.
Does anyone know if there every going to create the droid x multi touch keyboard for this phone...Yes this does have a physical keyboard but sometimes i like to type on screen, and that was my favorite keyboard on the OG Evo

Waiting by itself doesn't qualify having patience. Sometimes it means you don't understand the choice. The only real "disadvantage" in buying the Xoom now is the price. What about the Samsung tablet appeals to you more? Or was this purely about the Xoom?

Ha, was laughing at that too.
Am I missing something. What on earth makes the tablet by Samsung any better than one by motorola unless you are a homunculus incapable of holding a 1.6lb device but can hold a 1.3?
In all seriousness though, besides aestethics and brand preference I don't see the draw. I am seriously looking googling to try and find the big deal. Moto is a proven OEM in the Android world, and the XOOM is wide open and soon to be 4G capable. I see that the 10.1 is supposed to be HSPA 21+mbps so I am assuming T-Mo's fake 4G?
It seems it has a better rear camera, higher resolution video, optional capacities, and a proximity sensor(did they forget this isn't a phone) in the THINGS THE XOOM DON'T category.
It has a single instead of dual led flash, no new data tech, no HDMI, no barometer(hmmm someone tell me wtf a barometer is for) no external memory(which I will be using to put music on my tablet when I get a deal on a 32gb microsd, or so I tell myself), no ambient light sensor(I don't like autobrightness but I see the utility) in the THINGS THE XOOM DOES category.
Options are good but I don't get the point of this pointless thread .

I did not mention in my first post that I also bought the Xoom at Motorola for 25% off and I already have the UPS tracking number and it will be delivered this coming Monday. My bank statement has shown that the charge is complete.
So the price is not really the issue here.
I will not open my Xoom on Monday when I received it but will wait for March 22 to decide.
Biggest advantages of the Samsung tablet are the following:
1. Lighter weight
2. Most likely a better screen (brighter/better contrast). You look at the screen 100% of the time when you use a tablet (unless you just listen to music) so this is very important.
Big disadvantage
1. May not be rootable
Like I mentioned, you don't seem to understand the choice if those are your only disadvantages. I get that you're waiting, I just find your attitude funny.

Your a better man than me. Me, personally I will never buy another samsung product. What shortcomings does the Xoom have that the 10.1 won't have? From what I have read the 10.1 is inferior spec wise to the Xoom althoigh they are very close.

Well got #2 yesterday the volume rocker on it sticks and you cannot turn it down with it, and by it sticking you try to turn it off and just resets. When it is sticking even the slider refuses to work just keep returning to the top. I still may try one more but getting pretty fed up with them to be honest. May prettier and fancier but my Nexus 4 or Note 2 have never let me down yet. I understand the frustration, no flagship phone should have QC problem but unfortunately they exist. They say 3rd time is the charm. Sorry to see you leave if you decide to go. Good luck.
Just ask for the latest batch of phones when you go in.. If you're lucky enough to return to a retail outlet, you can check the device before they move it to your account. I went through literally 5 phones on my last go around. I was determined to find a decently built device.
