[Q] Galaxy S5 Battery Charging Animation QMG - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've recently installed the S5 Sensation ROM onto my S3, and it works great. However, I'd also love to have the S5's charging animation on my phone too (the powered off one, not the one in the status bar). This would make my device feel complete, rather than the default S3 charging animation.
I've done some research, and found that the "system/media/" folder contains some .qmg files which are what makes the charging animation what it is. However, after searching for about an hour looking for the S5 .qmg files, I can't find them. What I'm asking here for is for someone who has access to these files on their phone to give me a download to them, or help me by finding a download online.
Thank you!

Bump!
Does no-one know how to do this? Maybe I just posted at a time when no-one was on..
Bump!

I'm pretty sure its something in the kernel, someone asked about modifying this before and i avguely remeber it being an answer like that, i dont see any qmg on my phone that looks like itd be the animation(going off file names), if you know for a fact it exsists though and know the name though i can send it your way if its on here.

Maybe it's no longer named ".qmg". Maybe it's already on .spi file format.

I was wrong i found them, check /system/media and look for:
Particle_intro.spi
Particle_loop.spi
Wave_loop.spi
Percentage.spi
You can change .spi to .png or.jpg and you can view them, but i cant figure out how to edit them yet.

Lollipop OS uses .spi file type whereas 4.4.2 Kitkat uses .qmg. I think you can make .qmg files base from the .spi file you just viewed rather than editing .spi files or converting .spi to .qmg.
Check the screenshots below, these are the original stock files from Galaxy S6 and I'm absolutely sure that they are the files that make you see the new battery charging logo when you turn off the S6 while it is being charged.

please do update us if you have progress! thanks!

Seeing as there's no way to actually open qmg files, only create them, and while you can view spi files, there's no way to edit or create them from what I've found, it's kind of cloudy though because a backup software uses the same extension for its disk image files, not sure how much progress will be made, would love to be able to edit the charging ani though, so hopes up!

And someone was already working with this stuff, trying to make .qmg files. Just hope we can get it soon.

:good:

@Cronus so... How did you do that? I'd like to have that charging animation on my S3 too [emoji14]

.qmg files are only found on samsung smartphones. I got a bunch of qmg files in those folders, each are for a specific percentage of battery level. I know how to change those but I dont have any images to convert it into .qmg files.

i have a galaxy a13 with root and the qmg file in /system/media are only the boot animation, for the charging animation i have the .spi

what is it doing or not doing?
Looks like you are using compression to create the zip. You need to zip in a non compressed format...

Is this compatible for galaxy y it is in
Samsung Galaxy S Advance I9070 > Galaxy S Advance I9070 General > (Shutdown Animation) QMG file creation.
Will this work for galaxy y?
If it uses Samsung's .qmg file type it should work. Make a nandroid and try.

You can't extract .qmg files.
because it contains these formats below:
.jpg/.png/.gif
(will work if you use 2.1% of your brain)

[Q] Changing my Verizon N3 Theme

I was just curious to know if I could take the Wi-Fi and LTE indicator from one theme and add it to another? I like the indicators from Bobcats theme, but am using Blak X for my theme and its just white bars.
I did look around for answers, and couldn't find anything that seemed to match what I was asking. Any help or direction would be appreciated, and clearly I am new to this, otherwise I wouldn't have wasted anyone's time if this was asked differently and answered.
Just some guidance is all I'm looking for.
Thanks-
Wow... nobody has answered yet? Yes, you can. They are simply png's in systemui, but it can only be used for personal uses

I've seen build prop edits that semi worked. So I should be able to pull the pngs from another system ui zip it up and flash?
Have you ever used 7zip? You will have to do it on a computer, but you don't even have to unzip your rom or decompile the systemui.apk. Right click on the zip, choose open archive with 7zip, then navigate within the folders to systemui and simply replace the pngs. You will need to make sure they are named exactly the same though

Btw, you could also use root explorer too, but I've never used it before so not sure how people go about doing it that way

Yeah, nobody answered lol.. till now. Thanks @Train88 and @neopolotin75 for your replies and guidance.
@Train88 I tried using root explorer early on and kinda fumbled stuff up in there. I did see using 7zip before and finally had the time to dl it to the pc.
@neopolotin75 I appreciate the offer, I just wanted the guidance. If you have the time, I'd appreciate it, if not no worries.
All of these themer's do so much already and produce such amazing work, I wanted to just know/learn how to do simple mods to my ROM without the burden of someone having to do it for me.
Thanks again :good:
Team BlackOut rocks BTW :good:

Are you sure the firmware you are trying is correct for your device? Are you sure about the model of your device too? The unique firmware for i9500 xxufnb3 is this ONE.
To be exact it's ubufnb3
I'm not sure how to get apps out of tars
Do you have a link to a flashable zip?
My guess is that since my secmediaprovider isn't odexed it's not reading any media files on my phone

You will have to reflash the firmware via ODIN: HERE. But you will have to write UBUFNB3 in the box like in the pic attached. Download the one you prefer.

[Q] Changing bootanimation on Samsung galaxy note N910F

Can anyone please help me.. I rooted my note 4 with twrp recovery. I have since tried to change the bootanimation as well as the shutdown animations.. but i was unsuccessfull. I tried everything from replacing the bootsamsung.qmg and bootsamsungloop.qmg files..
May i also include that i would really like to remove the carrier bootanimation and or replace it it.
This is new to me and if anyone could assist i would greatly appreciate it.
When i go to system/media i only find bootsamsung.qmg
I run a custom rom with kitkat 4.4.4
Phone model N910F
Thank you in advance

The easiest way is to use RomToolbox. It has several build in boot animations and you can upload your own.
