If you made a Nandroid backup of stock rooted, it should be safe to restore that TWRP backup. However, not if you've upgraded to Lollipop and wish to restore back to Stock Rooted Kitkat. To return to 100% stock unrooted firmware and to avoid issues, follow this guide or click the image in my signature.

But if you have a nandroid backup, you were rooted so not totally stock. If you have warranty needs, flash kdz.

Just selecting restore and choosing your Nandroid backup should be fine.
Just make sure you're restoring KK to KK, NOT LP to KK.

I think you are on stock recovery, for backup you have to install CF-AUTO ROOT
If you have SM-900 then visit http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2466423
follow the instruction.

How do I restore backup without custom recovery

So I flashed the lg g2 kit kat stock and super user so I have root but of course lost custom recovery. I did make a backup on my phone before I did so. I can go to stock recovry and see their is an option for restoring backup but the file is empty. I located the file using root explorer and try to move it to the cache folder where stock recovery is looking for back up but the space allotted is not big enough for my backup file so it will not let me move. So the question is simple can someone point me or shall I say show me how to restore m backup please. Thanks in advance

currently kitkat on the g2(all models) does not support custom recovery so no
You'll have to save your backup on your computer, flash back to jellybean, then root it and install recovery, then you'll be able to restore the backup. Even if you could stuff the thing into cache I don't know if the stock recovery would be capable of flashing it.

Can i restore backup from another phone?

I've got 2 sets of note 3, and both rooted and flashed with custom rom. I did a backup on one of them for the stock firmware before i flashed the custom rom. Question is, can i use the backup for the stock rom and restore it on the other note 3? Will there be any issues?
Thanks!

Restore just the System partition and the Boot partition. It should work.
Out of curiosity, why not use odin?

Will that unroot the phone and get it back to stock firmware (the backup is stock firmware)
what i was trying to do is to get the phone back to stock as much as possible.
When you said odin, you mean download a stock firmware and use odin to flash it?

Yes, it will restore everything to stock, exactly like the backup.
But, you should use odin. It will restore everything to stock.

Thanks! but can you tell me more? If i have that backup, what advantage does odin has over downloading a stock firmware?

Well, for one, odin will restore EVERYTHING to stock. Including the recovery.
Second, the recovery will probably reject the backup if it checks for MD5, you might have to disable it before restoring.
Third, it is more convenient.

if you want to restore the data it should be no problem. i already test it on all of my phone.

I sadly had to go through that on my old note 2 (super slow connection in my country), well what i found out that to skip md5 check in TWRP, i had to backup my EFS (just to let twrp create its folders and settle up) then i moved the backup from another phone to the folder twrp just created, Restored system and /data with no problems
When the recovery check for MD5, open MD5 file on notepad, clear everything and save it. The recovery will not reject it. Trust me

no, it will not, cuz all that is suppose to be in the backup you made before, just clean the system before restoring, wipe data, system, cache and dalvik, then try restoring your backup and wait at least 10 minutes, and report back, good luck cheers:fingers-crossed:

You upgrade your device to 5.0, so kitkat4.4 cwm backup didn't work 4 u bcuz ur baseband version changed with lollipop upgrade & cwm recovery is unable to backup baseband/modem.
U have to downgrade ur firmware to kitkat4.4 & then cwm backup will work.
how do i do that is it enough to just re-flash via odin will it reset to the correct modem and stuff?

Yes,after flashing correct stock firmware ( full Odin package like xxx.tar.md5) with Odin ur device become brand new: official.
U have to root it again & again install cwm recovery.
For flashing stock firmware Tutorial, search on Google.

do you know if there is a backup app that backs up all like baseband and such so i can downgrade with simple backups?
Hi, in order to restore your Android kitkat backup you need to downgrade from lollipop. In order to do that you have to flash a stock ROM (from sammobile). If your device is not locked for your service provider then it shouldn't really matter which region's ROM you flash. Then flash cwm recovery to restore your backup. If after flashing the stock ROM you enter a boot loop (and maybe not allowing you to enter download mode to flash cwm) try entering recovery mode (Power + Home + Volume Up) and factory reset your phone through the stock recovery. This should restart your phone without causing a loop. After that just flash cwm back and restore your stock backup.
Hope this helps and let me know if you need anything else.

Need advice on restoring backups

Hello
I recently rooted my LG G2 and installed Blisspop rom but i wish to go back to stock. Would this be possible to revert back to my stock backup or do i have to reinstall the firmware completely ?
Thanks any help is welcome
Any one can help me ?
Before installing a custom ROM, did you use TWRP to create a backup of the stock ROM? If you did, you could try restoring the stock backup from recovery.

i did indeed i backup up via TWRP but im getting confused cause i keep getting told different things like i need to have a different boot loader etc
The only thing i did was flash the ROM i didn't flash any modem or boot loader to my knowledge
Restoring the TWRP backup should leave the bootloader and modem alone.

You may have to wipe the cache and data, especially if you are going from lollipop to kit Kat or vice versa.
