It depends on wich version you want to update. There are several ways in this forum or you can update via Samsung Kies to the "official" updates
The phone is not supported by samsung kies and i want to update to 4.2 what to do
Hi,
I've played with the sgs. There's many tutorials. Try searching these keywords : cvm, Odin, root, alongside with your sgs model number.

when you update via ota no files are deleted and updating to latest version is always good thing to do.

The firmware updates are usually for stability, new kernels etc. These firmwares updates are not applicable to custom roms.
Nope data isn't lost in OTA updates. Not sure about the KIES ones but I reckon they wont do anything bad.

I think you're going to apply the OTA Updates for the ROM you're using. Am I right? Well, you can apply it SAFELY by following instructions carefully.
Press THANKS

Sorry but you posted this in the wrong thread, this is for Android Development. Try Questions & Answers or in the actual motochopper thread.

im going to help you out. The Baseband Version: I337UCUAMF3 is not rootable. So you wont be able to root unless you can go exchange it for another new one. if not, you're screwed till they find a root for MF3.
Also you shouldnt post in the Development section. Leave all your questions in the Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting section. which can be found here.
sorry about that guys. Thanks for the help though i appreciate it!

Try asking here which is the i9500 forum, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=42440139
Personally, I'd just use Odin and flash the firmware you want.
