when you update via ota no files are deleted and updating to latest version is always good thing to do.

The firmware updates are usually for stability, new kernels etc. These firmwares updates are not applicable to custom roms.
Nope data isn't lost in OTA updates. Not sure about the KIES ones but I reckon they wont do anything bad.

I think you're going to apply the OTA Updates for the ROM you're using. Am I right? Well, you can apply it SAFELY by following instructions carefully.

No that firmware is older look at the I9300 changelog. Its very different. And build date is also old =]
The latest rom we can install is
GT-I9305N
COV
I9305NXXBMC2
build date:21.03.2013
746327
??
I know build date is older, but changelist is higher. The i9305N rom still has the same changelist as all other roms for the past month right?
I9305TUBBMC1
build date: 01.03.2013
changelist: 1016585
Or are you saying that sammy has screwed up changelists and we should go by build date now?
Those are just the Kernels.
Don't we need of the full ROM?

Click the big green "Download I9305XXBMC1" for the rom. It seems to flash the old kernel, that's why they're linked separately. Also, I just checked and Unified Toolkit works well for rooting this rom. Just select BLL5 and it's fine.

Sorry but you posted this in the wrong thread, this is for Android Development. Try Questions & Answers or in the actual motochopper thread.

im going to help you out. The Baseband Version: I337UCUAMF3 is not rootable. So you wont be able to root unless you can go exchange it for another new one. if not, you're screwed till they find a root for MF3.
Also you shouldnt post in the Development section. Leave all your questions in the Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting section. which can be found here.
sorry about that guys. Thanks for the help though i appreciate it!
Hi,
I have bought my GS4 from a small store in my country and not from the importer back in July.
I saw that the latest update for the device was out and tried to update it in the device it self and it didn't work.
Next i have installed Samsung Kies to update the device and then the Kies as informed me that my "firmware version is not supported to update".
the current firmware is(as noted by Kies):
PDA:MDE / PHONE:MD9 / CSC:MD9 (KSA)
Model :
GT-I9500
Android version:
4.2.2
Baseband version:
I9500JKUAMD9
Kernel version:
3.4.5-447845
[email protected] #1
Fri Apr 12 17:22:34 KST 2013
Build number:
JDQ39.I9500XXUAMDE
My question is can I reverse the device back to factory firmware and ROM?
If not, can you direct me to a ROM which looks like a Samsung original ROM?
I am sure that someone have already asked this question but i didn't find it when i was looking the search tool...
Many Thanks
Omri Arielly
P.S: I am so sorry for my English in is not my first language

if the flashing of the firmware from sammobile doesn't fix your problem.. it's probabily an hardware problem.
