Stock Lollipop OA8 - Verizon Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a stock G900V running OA8. I see many guides for keeping you root when upgrading to this but can't seem to find out how to gain root access for it. I tried towelroot v3 and even with the custom strings it says my phone isn't compatible. :crying: I've seen a few thing regarding twrp for sprint/tmobile but nothing for verizon. If I need to use odin and downgrade that is fine but I need some guidance.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for the help!

Clarification on rooting and knox

OK so I have looked everywhere to find out which method is ok to run on the vz version of the note 3 running MJE. I think I find my answer and then people start talking about a different model of the note 3. So I figured the best way to find out is just ask.
How do I root without tripping the knox security? I'd like the option to flash my own roms, but have been able to figure out on my own that flashing a custom recovery will trip xnox. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Right now Kingo can be used to root mje build without tripping Knox. I have heard some guys having success with older versions of Kingo.
The only recovery available is safestrap. Since our bootloader is locked down. Safestrap and flashing roms for safestrap will not trip knox either.
Also heard guys using Vroot to root mje.
Tapped via my Blacked out Eclipsed Note 3
This is what I had assumed from what I read I just wanted to hear it for sure, directly for our device. Thanks a ton!!

Actually thanks for this thread, I was wondering the same thing. If I could add to it, is it possible to unroot and go back to complete stock if need be?
There are instructions on how to unroot back to stock but like everything else can't conform it is for this model. Thank you vz and Samsung for making crap difficult!

Yeppers! Flashing the stock image with odin will wipe all traces of root and safestrap, and return your phone to normal.

Root KitKat Stock

Hey did anyone find a script to root the LG G2 with the new firmware update to KitKat? I've tried to use the scripts that are out, but none worked and tried to root it before update and still nothing. If you guys have any helpful links please and thank you.

well you should look harder and you can find IOroot25 the only that can't be rooted on kitkat is the d801 t-mo variant which needs to be downgraded to 4.2 to root and install custom kk rom which supports root and custom recovery

I just used the method in this link, except I was on 4.4.2 so I used the old version of it (same method just different kernel files): http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...to-root-i337ucufnj4-4-4-4-11-13-2014-t2939553
It worked perfectly to root my AT&T S4. It is just rooted - no custom rom.
I think to add a custom rom i'd have to use a method that installs safestrap like the one at this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...ng-rooting-t2926642/post56453100#post56453100

You might try here, http://www.xda-developers.com/root/ Just make sure you know where to find and how to use the stock firmware before trying root methods.
Sent from my Nexus 9 using XDA Free mobile app
1) KingRoot
2) Super-Sume Pro if you want to replace KingRoot with SuperUser.

[Q] 4.4.2 rooted to Lollipop

Hi guys,
I'm trying to figure out how I can install Lollipop for my SM-N900V which is rooted with TWRP and Safestrap on Baseband N900VVRUCNC4 and Build number KOT49H.N900VVRUCNC4. I've looked into ArayaMod and Jasmine but I'm super confused about how to go about the install. Do I need to flash stock 5.0 via Odin and then flash a custom ROM? Do I need to install from an SD card?
I'm pretty discouraged and I'm almost ready to just flash the stock 5.0 and lose root privileges if it's possible.
I hope this doesn't seem too vague but if someone could just point me toward a decent thread or video to give me some direction I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks,
Jeff
