[Q] Fast battery drain, and % jumping around. - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a LG G2 which I'm working on for a friend. For what ever reason, the phone just started to rapidly drain, and will shut off anywhere from 50% to 20%. When the phone shuts off, it will only show the LG logo when trying to turn on. I then have to connect it to a charger, and when I turn it on with it plugged in, it will be around 65%-75%.
I've attempted to reset battery stats while at 100%, but with no success. I'm in process of wiping and restoring against my will. Anyone have a solution? I'm thinking it may just be a toast battery.
Here is a picture of the battery stats.

You should try replacing the battery, sounds like it's defective anyway. However, you may want to see what happens when you disconnect the battery, then connect it again.

I just disconnected the battery after a 100% charge. When I turned it on, it was at 95%, and has dropped to 90% in about 2 minutes. I've ordered a battery, so unless there is something else to try, I feel that's the only option at this point.

In Car Charger.

Just a word of warning against buying an in car charger of eBay. I got one free with a phone holder, From here.
I used if for a few days no problem. I did notice that it did get a bit hot but thought that was because of the phone being so powerful.
Driving along the motorway at full speed and bang. The charger exploded. Loads of smoke.
I quickly unplugged what was left of the charger.
After I stopped I plugged in my other charger. But it would not charge. When I got home I plugged it in to the mains and fully charged it. When I got the battery full message I unplugged it but still got the battery full message. Even a hour after.
I use battery life from curvefish. Normally it says good. But then it said over volt. I turned off the phone. Then I got a loop of the following screens.

this is after a hour of the battery being out. put it in. before i can turn it on it does the above.
I have had the phone for 34 days at this point. So I phoned phones4u who said yes I had it for 34 days but I was still able to exchange and not a repair. So I am lucky to get a new phone. But now am worried about using in car chargers.
not anything of use. just some info.
think i will look for a official samsung in car charger.
oh, and the phone holder was crap too.

Interesting battery drain

Its weird that my battery drains very fast from 90 to 30 but after 30 it slows way down. My usage pattern is the same throughout the day as can be seen. Anyone know why that is?

Probably app related. Some apps, like Dropbox, will stop synching with the server once the battery gets to a certain level. Are you using any server intensive apps? Streaming?

You should calibrate your battery. I always do this after switching ROMs
I leave it charging overnight and, when I wake up, I delete the file 'batterystats.bin' with the phone still plugged (I don't remember in which folder, but there are some apps in the Market which delete it (Battery Calibration or something like that)), then I reboot and unplug it. Let the phone running until the battery hits 0%, then recharge it to 100% again. It should help you with your problem.

What am I doing wrong?

Hey guys, I posted here yesterday because my nexus 4 is stuck charging in USB mode which is really really slow, but I finally got it fully charged overnight. Since I have no way to quickly charge it I decided to see how much I could squeeze out of a charge. This is only the second time that the battery has been fully charged and I did everything I could think of to conserve battery: mobile data off, 2g network only, wifi off, sync off, lowest screen brightness, all GPS and location settings off, Google+ disabled, and using the phone very minimally. Other than sending less than 100 texts the phone was just hanging out in my pocket and this is how long the battery lasted.

Pretty atrocious. Anybody have any tips? I am thinking that since the phone is stuck in USB charging that could have something to do with it and maybe I just have a faulty device. I already contacted Google about an rma for the USB issue and I have a new phone on its way, but god knows when it will arrive. Thanks for any help!

Sounds like getting a new one was a good idea. In the meantime it will make a great paperweight.

[Q] Nexus froze during long call - would not boot again

Loving the Nexus 4 (stock JOP40D + root) although I'm having some issues with the phone sometimes rebooting randomly (1-2 times a day)
and today it turned itself off during a long call (after about 45 mins) and would not boot again.
I pressed all combinations of buttons, plugged into the charger and it would not turn on.
Left it aside for a few mins, pressed power+vol and it booted normally as if nothing happened.
I then went to check the battery settings, and noticed a strange gap (screenshot) like the ones I was getting on my S2 after this kind of reboot.
Any ideas of what could have caused this?

Thanks. Could that really be the case though? It didn't feel hot in my hand
I'd RMA it. I'm getting an RMA device for a "faulty battery". Many Nexi have shipped with dud batteries. Not sure if that's your particular issue, but call Google.

910F Weird issue

Goodday folks, So i have a 910F running stock android 5.0.2 i recently noticed that sometimes my battery charges really slow from 90% till 100% to measure charging current i download an app called battery monitor by 3c. The current seems to be normal however i noticed another weird issue that my phone continues to draw some power from charger even when the battery indicator is full with green led (the draw seems to be going down around 100ma when i took it off) . Im using stock fast charger and cable can anyone else confirm if this is normal or if i have a defective unit? Attaching a picture for reference. Thanks

it will draw power to keep the battery at 100%
and it's normal for the charging rate to go down a bit when almost full.
a battery produces more heat while charging when it's almost full, so they need to slow down the charging to reduce the heat production.
