[Q] Reactivation Lock Question - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I cannot flash anything with Reactivation Lock ON, and I heard that if I turn this feature OFF, I can flash anything.
My device, SM-G900H is not rooted and my question is:
Will this feature be available after root?
It is a very cool feature that my device cannot be stolen with this feature ON.

If you go back to a Touchwiz ROM you can re activate it. but if you have an issue that you need to re-flash or the phone is unbootable, you could run into issues. The feature is not an option from CM12

So, it will work on rooted-official rom? You tried it?
Anyone else tried it?

That doesn't mean your bootloader is unlocked. This can happen when you root too.

Just like Whizzpopper said, if you are rooted that will cause the Custom screen to show when you boot. You have to unroot. I know Rom Toolbox has a feature that would allow you to change that screen to a custom picture/animation, but not sure if it is compatible with the S4.
Not neccessarily unlock for boot mine stayed the same till I ran wanam xposed last night, which I some what regret I think one of the changes I made (1 too many perhaps lol) messed me up I get fc for xda now when trying to give thanks reply or w.e..
Any1 kno how I can make a comma stay permanant on the stock keyboard?

Try Triangle Away to get rid of the custom screen and rest the flash counter.

[Q] Factory Reset with Reactivation Lock on

Guys, I don't really know what can or can't do with reactivation lock on...
1.So, I kinda know that I can't flash any CUSTOM or STOCK ROMs, or even CUSTOM Recoveries, am I correct ?
2. Can I do an wipe via recovery or factory reset on my phone with RL on ?
3. Is there anything more I must know about RL ?
Up... No one ?
And why don't you turn it off when doing so, and then enable it ?

Bro sorry I didn't' make me clear, the point is if anyone steal my phone (expensive, hard working phone) they can flash ROMs or recoveries when RL on? They can wipe the phone?
I wanna know if they can still use my phone or they gonna get a Brick... or even better if I could track the phone, coz they can't wipe so I put an Anti-thief app, block the uninstall of it and got it back.
The perfect answer for me is:
1. Yes, you are...
2. No, you can't
The third one you surprise me with the answer... ehehe
OK, I see. Afaik, you should be secure. That's the point of RL.

Easiest Root for N915G

So, I was going to use Cf-Auroroot like I have for every other Samsung device I've got but apparently there's an issue with it for the N915G.
What I did was put the latest super su file (i used v2.40) on my external SD card and then in Odin flash the latest TWRP recovery from here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-edge/general/easy-steps-stock-odin-n915tuvu1anjl-sm-t2943993 (you can also use the sd card fix from here too, flash in TWRP, just install supersu, then add another flash file and install the sd card fix).
Go to recovery mode and flash super su.
I found it had an error flashing cache but a factory reset fixed this so best done BEFORE setting everything up.
Let phone reset, set it up and you now have root access with a clean install of stock rom.
Happy days.
This worked fine for me and left out the step of flashing CF-Autoroot which wasn't needed.
You will still trip Knox.
I don't know if this will work flawlessly for you or for all models, especially if the bootloader is locked, but theoretically it should.
Good luck guys, happy flashing.
And HAPPY NEW YEAR...

Exactly the same method... I believe Twrp 2.8.5.0 and Supersu 2.4.6 were what I used to root Lollipop...

It seems to work on most variants, except those with locked bootloaders..
If it didn't I don't know why.
A lot of people have rooted their device this way....

You should not have many issues with 5.0.1. What you need to do after flashing the 5.0.1...you need to reset to factory setting. Im sure by now you know when upgrading..you still keep data from the kitkat. This may cause conflict and issues. At the moment the only issue i had is sometime i get that contact closed notifications. I have google this issue...seem like it happen to other phones to with early 5.0.1. For me im ok...cause it only happen very rarely...i hope a much later lollipop will fix this issues.

Mentioned locked bootloaders as this will work on other models too...
Got my SM-915G, and got it rooted and TWRP installed following you method. It is working with AT&T and I am getting LTE data speeds, but it is struggling on voice network. hardly any bars are visible on the signal strength icon.
Is there any solution?

Possibly flashing the modem and non-HLOS.bin for AT&T.
I can't really say as I live in Oz and have no problems with voice calls...
I do find that my bars don't tend to go over 3 or more than halfway but that could be due to where I live and the crappy coverage we get here... No problem with voice calls though...
I am not sure if I can install SM-N915A modem on 915G.
Can someone confirm if that is possible, if so, what version?
tell me one thing is xposed framework and freedom app now working on note edge 915G lollipop
Nope. Better stick with Kitkat if you intend to use Freedom and Xposed.

New lollypop feature

Hi iv added a picture of what I think is a new feature to lollypop if I downgrade will it get rid of this feature coz I'm stuck on the Samsung account screen. 3 days iv been trying lol really need help
Flash recovery image with Odin, download a rom, flash it with recovery.
First off, is it really your phone? No offence meant. Coz if it is, then you shouldn't be having trouble logging in with your samsung account.
Secondly, is it really necessary to creat 3 different thread for the same query/question?
This is not a new feature of lollipop but it is Samsung reactivation lock. So, it will lock the phone until u can key in the correct password

Fixed now and yes it is my phone I got it sorted after a call from Samsung
So will you now stop starting multiple treads about the same thing?

Bypass Reactivation Lock on S5

Hello everyone, im no developer nor do I post here often, or at all. The sole reason im doing this is because last night i flashed the latest lollipop build on my Galaxy s5 and that meant it updated the boot-loader and everything. I had reactivation lock on and that didn't bother me because the phone was mine and i knew the credentials required to get in so it was meant to be a walk in the park......until it turned on. I went about just fine setting up the phone from factory setting till i reached a point where it asked me for my Samsung details. I put in all the right details but when i hit login, it said "processing failed". I searched everywhere about this issue but nothing seemed to help. The only thing i learnt was that this happened because i flashed 2 different countries' firmware's (i.e i was on the Indonesian fw when my reactivation lock was on and i flashed a different country to which i turned on and got locked out)
I tried flashing back the Indonesian and login through there, but no luck, my only option was to go to samsung...... thats until i gave it one more shot this morning
Instructions:
1. Download the earliest stock lollipop build for your device model from sammobile, since i have a G900H it was G900HXXU1BOA7_G900HOXY1BOA7 (kazkhastan) for me.
2. Enter your recovery and wipe data and cache.
3. Enter download mode and flash the old lollipop build on your device through odin.
4. After it flashes, before it goes to the Samsung logo, turn off the device again and enter recover to wipe data and cache AGAIN.
5. Reboot and wait.
6. Once you're on the welcome screen, follow the instructions on ht tps:// www . youtube . com / watch?v=OCZpUcnp6Cc and it should work because you're on the older firmware where the flaw wasn't fixed yet. (Just remove the spaces)
And that's it, that's how you can get through the reactivation lock on the s5, though I'm guessing it should work on any device that has a lollipop build before February 2015.
I hope this helps the people out there who are locked out of their own devices, no need to thank me if it does since im not sticing around here long but please do give a thumbs up to the video on YouTube since its all the main work involved
Thanks for this, will give it a try and let you know how I get on as I'm locked out of my device due to the same problem
I've managed to get a little further with your help as I can now get into the phone. I'm trying to deactivate the reactivation lock option but it doesn't seem to have any effect, even after I put in my Samsung account details.
Any ideas how to disable that option as I can't flash any custom roms?

Okay if you're in the phone it means you were able to add a new or existing Samsung account to get through right? If so, have you tried disabling re activation in settings and put in the same details you used to get in when asked?
The account should be the same one as the one used to get in, if it's different it won't disable re activation
Thank you! It worked flawlessly on SM-G900M

I managed to get into the phone but was unable to disable reactivation lock until I flashed the same stock rom version as I had on when I (foolishly) turned it on so if anyone else is struggling with that, make sure you're back on the same stock rom when trying to disable the reactivation lock
thanks again
Thanks for the tip!

Don't freak out here is the solution mate : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3309658
It's 100% working try it
Sent from my SM-G900F using XDA Free mobile app
My SM-G900W8 was updated to 5.1.1 OTA when I decided to wipe the device from recovery - and then couldn't get past the Samsung account login to reactivate my device.
I can confirm I successfully downgraded to KitKat (G900W8VLU1AND1) and followed these steps to bypass the Samsung account login part.
Oddly enough, I could still login to my Samsung account on the phone with this workaround, even though I ran into errors when I tried to to login to my Samsung account through the initial setup of the device.
UUUUHHHHH, after many sleepless nights and struggles with downloading different firmwares and stuck at the initialisation process finally I managed to get through the Samu Relock Trap.
Anyone in the same shoes use the earliest release of Lolipop (Polish in my case / google it and download, flash through Odin and follow the video at the first post) do not try KitKat or Mashmallow because it wont do the job on G900F.
