How to extract a PIT from a device?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=51219635
Ok i did all of the above i extracted the pit file from a working note 2 but it still fails when i try to flash the stock rom via odin. Now this is what the note 2 board reads on download mode.
Current binary samsung official
System status Custom
Can it be that the system status is custom and the pit im using comes from a stock firmware?
Please help me on this im trying to salvage this board i know it can be fixed.
Do you think i have to maybe flash whatever custom rom that's installed on the bad board to the note 2 thats working?
Please guide me i appreciate all of your help thanks.

Hi,
I use a Samsung Galaxy Trend Plus 7580 phone with 4GB of storage. Since any KitKat based ROM has started to crash after one of the latest play services updates, I find Resurrection Remix Marshmallow version, the fastest and stable rom for the phone.
Storage space is an issue.
There is only 1 GB storage left after a few necessary apps are installed, plus a 500mb on system partition.
I see that the system partition is not decreased a single megabyte after the first installation.
Can anybody tell how is the system partition used in general?
I'm trying to figure out if it is a good idea to reduce the size of the system partition like 300 Mbytes and add that space to user partition?
Anyone have pit file for Samsung on7 Goofy?
Hi guys, Ive just bought a new Samsung Galaxy S4
I had the s3 and loved it but thought id get the S4, (I'm on the Three network UK If this helps)
Anyway with the s3 i rooted it, Installed CF Root, and siyah kernel and worked a treat
So when i had my S4 today i thought id root it, So i followed this video: youtube.com/watch?v=vlsO5o_-CI8 did everything and everything worked fine, then i thought oh ill put the siyah kernel on from here d-h.st/users/siyah/s3 and was completely in a daze didn't even read where it said s3 or anything (Yes i know im thick as two short blanks but i do apologize in advance) and when i flashed the siyah kernal it got stuck on the booting screen where it says Samsung Galaxy S4 GT-I9500 and nothing is budging it, nothing at all.
Anyway so i looked at troubleshooting things and here's what i have tried
*Taking Battery out
* Recovery mode (Power, Home and Volume Up button) clicked factory reset wipe data etc
So im out of options and in desperate need of help as i dont know what else to do so im desperate, i know im a dope for installing something but as i said i was in a daze and just doing it automatically which i know is no excuse but i am sorry.
So can anyone help as i do hope so,
Thanks in advance
Sorry Guys Its the Samsung Galaxy S4 GT-i9505 not the i9500, Its the i9505,
Apologies

it should, because you flashed wrong kernel,
if not, you have to flash the whole stock firmware
Nope the kernal didnt work, So gonna have to try the stock firmware,
that would should 100% work is it?

yes.
maybe you have a corrupted partition due to the wrong flash so you need a pit file with the firmware, see my signature for tutorial
Im reading it now you know where it says: Step 4) unzip the downlowded file (from second or third post), u will get a Home.tar file.
Where do i get that file from what second or third post?

first flash the firmware as pda in odin, if odin gives you "no pit file" when flashing, so you must put I9505 pit file in odin as pit with the firmware as pda and flash. (all explanations are mentioned in my thread :good
Ok downloading the stock fw now ok, ill keep ya updated
thank you thank you thank you, ur a legend it works!!!

No, Sir. As I'm using G900I. But G900I and G900F are identical. I can even flash G900F firmware on my G900I so I guess there would be no prob for you, Sir!
Updated: I just looked into the file. I can tell there's no difference between G900F & G900I, You're worry-free to use it, Sir!

Yes, you can. It's just a cross configuration file for S5 variants
can you help me.
i edited it and now i cant do anything on my phone.
i cant see files in internal SD or external even on my phone or computer.
all apps keep crashing aswell.
I also screwed up platform.xml
I also screwed up this file - the backup is in an unreadable location
The original copy in Dropbox above is no longer there - if anyone has an original unmodified version of this file I'd sure appreciate it!
Thanks
Unmodified, stock from a T-Mobile s5: https://www.dropbox.com/s/soghluetv6h70ps/platform.xml?dl=0
Many thanks for that.
Unfortunately though it didn't work I still get everything crashing on boot, no internet access etc.
Going to have to reflash I think.
What I did was just to factory reset after putting the copy of the stock file to the permissions folder, and everything's went back to normal.
i have the same problem
I messed up my platform.xml
Can someone tell me how to fix it i dont have a pc or root(i deleted it by stupidity thought that will fix the problem) and my recovery its neither cwm or twrp is android 3ae i think
Help me please A.S.A.P
I've searched and tried too many methods none of them worked.
I even broke my device (soft break) while I was trying to do a root using a method for SM-A800F model, and I had a really bad day.
I couldn't restore my device using stock rom it failed on writing boot.img step (using odin).
I had to extract boot.img from the stock firmware (using winrar) then creating a new boot.tar using this tool tar-Tool_Odin3-v3.07_by_mkh.mourad to fix the problem.
I've tried too many "one click root apps" for both PC and Android (king root, Frama, mobogenie, root genius, rootx, few more) also none of them worked.
any help would be great
Thanks
SOLVED
I managed to get my phone rooted by following the instructions on this reply

I've got this response from RVR, But I'm not convinced that this solution will work, because the recovery is not for this device.
it's for Samsung Galaxy Alpha which has 5.0.2 android version, mine is 5.1.1.
I think he just opened androidfilehost forum and searched for A8 and got a file for wrong device:
androidfilehost.com/?w=search&s=A8
Here's the link ..
Select in the AP tab of odin
Uncheck the auto reboot button
flash
reboot straight into recovery
Try flashing the SuperSU zip .. : download.chainfire.eu/SuperSU
Keep Stock firmware handy to flash in case the zip flash fails

That's annoying. You need to find the exact firmware which matches to your specific phone's model no. in this case, region wise I mean. And needless to say use the latest Odin.
