Hi there,
Is there any way to increase the size of the contact photo for the dialer? I get a small picture, surrounded by a larger blurred version of the photo. Can I just get a single page picture instead?
Thanks
It's weird but I get the same when I make the first call to a person but subsequent calls I get the full picture.
It's like it downloads a small thumbnail for all contacts until you call the person.
Try it.
I always use an app called Ubersync, which syncs and pulls down all contact Images at Max res from Facebook.

I was wondering if their is anyway that i could Put a pic on all the Contacts i call the most or the ones saved in the Today Screen. What i mean is like Having a pic of their face instead of just saying the name.
Any ideas?

Use PocketCM, it gives you the pictures that you want, a new intercface adn it's extremly skinnable.
Pocketcm.com
if you are using outlook for you contacts just go down to edit then change photo
if you go in to the contact list...find your contact...and then edit their information, there is a section that says "Picture"...just click on it and choose a picture you want to have show up for that specific contact.
Hello there!
May be somebody knows or can help me with the following issue:
On my G1:
When taking a picture and sending it as MMS, the software resizes the original picture to very small arroung 20Kb size.
Though the receiver gets it very small.
On my Windows Mobile I can choose resize options before compressing the picture and so sending it as MMS with between 200-250kB and it becomes a nice picture at the receiver's side.
I tried everything but I am not able to find out to get the size adjusted bigger when sending out of the camera application within the G1 to MMS.
So I am not using the G1 for MMS sending, but I am want to send pictures from our baby to Grandma.
May be somebody has an idea?
Thank you,
Dieter
Send picture from your Gmail to (PhoneNumber)@tmomail.com.
You can always send pictures from your Gmail account at full size (instead of selecting MMS, of course, select Gmail) and you can also do what senorkabob suggeseted, which is to send it from Gmail to a phone number.
However, you're best off letting it compress because large MMS messages to some providers have problems downloading, and some may not download larger than a certain size in the first place.
In reality, the picture will go through two compression "sequences", one when you send it, and another when the person receives it. It's all up to the receiver to determine how large the picture gets. Different phones will get different sizes. I know the G1 can receive MMS pictures as large as 680x440, depending on what the picture size was originally. Older phones get smaller pictures, newer phones get larger pictures.
I've watched some hd2 videos on youtube, about feautures and that...and there are contact photos on email tab. There is sender's email and next to that his face.
Well, I don't have any photo here, only after tapping email and opening it with outlook, I see photo of the sender.
Is there any option to toggle that photo on or off, is this only in some roms, or why I don't have this?
Thanks for answers
Did you try to add any contacts in the people tab?
Once you tap "Add fav.", you can select any contact from the popup.
If you added pictures to your contacts, you will see them, too.
The most of my contact's have photo attacked.
It works when they call me, it works with sms and mms, it works if email is opened with outlook, it works on people tab...everything works...only on email tab I don't have photo...
But I can't find any info if this is an added feature in new roms or is in every rom and it just doesn't work for me...?
Not seen it on any rom i've tried. But then the email tab is only a preview, it hasn't 'opened' the email.
For example here at 3:20

But what we see is windows mobile running...I am sure this exist...maybe just not in official released roms if nobody knows about it...

Thats exactly what i as thinking. IF ONLY someone was able to make those sounds work. Is it possible?
My wife easily sends/receives pics and videos through email (hotmail) on her iphone. But when i try it says things like "file size too large"...or, i send it, but the receiver never gets it. For the iphone, if the file is too big, it will ask to resize or compress the video/pic....any help please? thanks
Try Image Shrink from the Market.
Or change the size of the pics the phone takes, in camera settings, i have minr set at 640x480. Not sure the resolution the iphone shoots at.
I just switched to Handcent SMS... you can change the settings for how large the MMS pictures can be, and then when you try to send one it will automatically resize it for you. This is a problem with Samsung's Messaging app. The weird thing is I was able to send to iPhone users for a while, then it just stopped...this has fixed the issue...and I actually prefer it over the built in app anyway now.
yeah I love handcent sms
Mine will do this automatically on the stock rom, with the stock text messenger app.
so i just looked all over the net trying to find this but is there really no way to view pictures like a normal human being from the stock message app when their are multiple pictures being received??:silly: instead of it putting it in the stupid slide show making the pictures smaller and not zoomable unless you save them.
I know even if you just receive one message with text then it also goes to the slideshow view. Just try to tell your friend to only send one picture at a time
