Google maps can't find my location it keeps saying temp. Unavailable therefore my weather app ( beautiful widgets) isn't working correctly either I have the official tmobile update running completely stock, I can't figure it out... my gps works fine but I'm inside a apt building surrounded by allot of trees so leaving the gps on is not a option( besides the fact that it's a battery eater) but I do have full 3G bars... any ideas cause I'm fresh out?
Did you try unchecking "Use GPS Satellites" under "settings"/"location and security"?
Yeah its already unchecked..I tried almost everything before I decided to post

Is "use wireless networks" checked?
Basically, there are only two methods for the phone to know where it is: The "Use wireless networks" method, which enables a coarse tower-based estimate, or the more precise fix by enabling the GPS. If both are disabled, there is no way for Google Maps or any other app to know where you are. Dunno which of these two values Beautiful Widgets is looking for.
Set yr beautiful Widget to a fixed place,
Or use wireless location
Wireless network is checked. This is not a beautiful widget problem but rather a google maps or location problem its showing that I'm at a place I was two days ago and when I try to go into maps and hit the find my location button it says location temporarily unavailable

Yes sometime the Google map remember yr old location, just uncheck both wireless and GPS and go into Google map again can erase that record
For the temp unavailable issue, it is yr GPS problem, did u update to the ji6? It fixed the GPS issue already
And one thing, the wireless location is a estimated location, so if u r using the 3g, it estimated the big area of yr 3g signal ( don't exactly know how to say)
but if u r using Wi-Fi, the estimated is based on yr Mac address so it is more accurate coz it knows where yr router is
Well my gps is fine I don't use it indoors because I live in a apt (no signal outdoors its fine) so its off and I have wireless checked so it uses tmobile 3g network to find my location.... and I have the update I guess I'm a anomaly

Hi,
I apologize if it's the wrong forum or if I missed something in my search over the forums (and internet).
Current setup :
HTC Legend rooted, flashed with Azure 1.0.1 (cyanogen 6.0)
Kernel 2.6.29
Baseband 47.26.35.04u_7.05.35.26L
Issue :
For some reason I can't get my 3G connection stable. eg. When I enable Wifi - 3G drops (which is set up that way), but when I disable Wifi 3G doesn't come back up. Even though the settings are correct.
I'm having a hard time getting any mobile data correctly going, it generally requires me to enable/disable wifi and reboot the phone several times.
Basically I've tried factory resets, checking the settings (config of mobile networks too), it doesn't stay in 2G mode, ... I've test with other Cyanogen based roms and it's the exact same issue. Is it possible this is due to a radio being wrong or is it possible it's actually the phone?
So:
- 2G only is DISabled
- Mobile data is enabled
- wifi off
- settings (mobile connection parameters) are correct
- tried different roms
- checked in places I know I should get a good connection (My provider is Telenet, they use the Mobistar network, my previous provider was mobistar. So the coverage should remain the same.)
I am at my wits end and do apologize if this is a stupid question, but I can't think of anything else that could interfere with this.
Have you tried to leave the 2G/3G settings by default? That is, not to disable 2G. It is anyway switching to the best it can aquire, so if you have strong signal you should get allways 3G. I never had these problems with any ROM I've tried...nightly, Azure, RC1/RC2

Quick solution : put one of HTCs widgets for mobile network on your homescreen and as soon as you turn WiFi off toggle the mobile network widget and 3G should start working again . It's a hit or miss though.

Must have used the wrong keywords >.< Sorry. Though thank you for the link, it is EXACTLY the prob I am encountering. At least now I know it's not the rooting that caused it.
About the HTC widget : I've used it, but it's indeed a hit or miss. Best solution seems to switch to 2G and switch back to 3G that way.
Leaving all the settings at standard (and the most recent flash to the CM RC1) helped with the overall connectivity though.
Okay to jump right into the subject, my HTC HD2 doesn't find a particular network anymore after flashing a new ROM.
It shows all networks -- Except the one I need. Great.
I had the same issue with the HD2O WP7 ROM.
The network runs on 2.4 GHz by an ASUS RT-N66U router, set to 40 MHz on channel 6. If you need more info, just ask.
Edit: all of a sudden it reappeared. Lol. Guess I was too close(?) Thanks for looking anyway
Thanks!
It ran on channel 13 which apparently wasn't enabled by the phone's settings. Fixed

Hi All,
I have been having problems with my S3 for some time now.
HSDPA. Sometimes it works and sometimes it does not. It works as if it was set up to work on demand.
Where could it be set up like that? I have checked every menu and cannot find anything.
Help much appreciated.
I don't understand, do you mean it keeps switching between 3g and H when you ate using it and not using it?

HSDPA works and in a few seconds stops. No data at all. Then HSDPA works again for a few seconds and so on. No pattern or anything. I tried to keep it running by keeping Skype work, but it would disconnect from data completely again. It is connected to HSDPA network and I can make calls over that, but no data.
Sounds like your being ping-pong'ed between antennas.
Usually flashing a eastern modem (I can recommend the ZN... ones) should fix it since they are optimized for large cities which have this issue.
Also, having a proxy server configured in the APN settings may cause this issue if it's overloaded and causes connection resets.
If you have one configured, write down the settings(in case you need it ) and try removing it.

Some good ideas.
Heading to the modem collection thread.
No proxy in APN.
An interesting thing is, that I went to another city a few hundred km away and everything was ok, so I thought it was the phone and it started working again. I am back in my area and it is happening again. The only thing is, no one else is having these porblems, even people using S3.
EDIT:Just fashed ZNLH3 using CWM and will start testing. Right after starting the phone, there is no data active.
EDIT2: I forgot to mention, that when I switch to GSM only mode, EDGE works just fin, no disconnects at all.
Try fast dormancy apps from play store and disable it.
The switching between hsdp and 3g is not a problem. It is a technology to preserve your data usage when you are not using.

There is no problem switching between 3g and H, there is a problem with switching between HSDPA and NOTHING.
ZN modems did not work.
Will try fast dormancy, the setting was not available in the ZN modem under *#9900#. Will try LH1 and Pay Store.
EDIT: FD switch installed and FD disabled. Will do some testing and report back. Working on LH1 modem now.
If you still have suggestions, they are more than welcome.

I am having exactly the same problem on 3UK... the data connection just stops working for no apparent reason
For another test, download a terminal emulator app from play store and then ping google.com or any other site in a loop ... See if you get breaks ...
Keep phone still ... Then try same with moving it around your house ...

Position has not effect, it happens wherever I am.
I will try with ping and see.
EDIT: PIng seems to make the connection persist. Will keep it running and see.
Been running ping for over an hour now and no data cutoffs. Means there is something that keeps disconnecting me.
How do I find out what and fix that?
To answer my own question:
I instaled DLI1 last night and so far in almost an hour not a single data blackout!
I was wrong blackouts still happen
Using DLI1 and FD switch, it now works much better, but there are still blackouts.
I will look for the GSM Monitor software and see if that can help me identify the problem..
problem is your location ur phone is jumping between 2 bad signals/towers and one of those towers does not have 3g on it only 2g
I say this because I have same problem at home. certain areas of house amazing 3g reception others .ir does not work and ye so .ir flicks between them and I often eexperience "blackout" . .signal says on H but no data throughput.
try downloading gsm monitor from play store will show u how string signal is and which tower it .
hope this helps
really hope u find a fix ( I've just accepted it )

I'm pretty sure that disabling fast dormancy will fix this. I've seen people with that problem before and was fixed instantly. Search the forum for the fix. There is a file you download to insert that will fix it.

I have no choice but accept it. Will use monitoring tools to see if you are right, it sounds quite a good explanation.

FD is disabled and it is still happening.
Did you try enabling wcdma only mode? Settings-more settings-mobile networks-network mode.
That might work by forcing it to stay on 3g/h+

Of course, I have had it set up like that since the beginning.
Remember that my problem is not with constant switching between HSDPA and EDGe, but with switching from HSDPA to nothing.
So Guys ,
I have managed to fix the Echo Bug during calls some people have for all or some ROMs ....
well I can say its not specific ROM issue , either its baseband( software ) or sim carrier issue ! SO after intense testing with various different ROMs and sims all around world , I came to conclusion that 900 MHz frequency band i.e.. LTE network is causing Echo problem.
setting network mode to LTE in settings , for some carriers it gives this bug. Well for Some users its not the problem because carriers have dual band frequency set For Example : 900/1800 or 2100 MHz for me ! 900 MHz frequency can be for 2G/3G/4G , but as per my research maximum carriers have it for 3G/4G only . In India Airtel users are affected the most .
So coming up to Fixing up the bug , you guys can try forcing your sim to use any frequency other than 900 MHz , which is bad and not advisable because forcing to use one frequency will give you network drops and unstable network ( carriers go dual frequency to avoid this ) —---
I am not giving you this method but there is a easy method for all this to avoid !!!!!!
JUST CHANGE THE NETWORK MODE FROM LTE /3G /4G TO 2G AND TRY CALLING.
ALSO IF IT STILL GIVES ECHO , SWAP SIM SLOTS...
ALSO SOME PEOPLE IF STILL HAVE ECHO PROBLEM, THEN DID YOU HAVE SAME PROBLEM ON OOS ? IF NO THEN FLASH OOS AND THEN CUSTOM ROM OF YOUR LIKING - IT WILL FLASH THE LATEST FRAMEWORK.
Will try this method, will keep the thread posted. :good:
Thanks in advance.
EDIT: It worked for me, thanks bro!
Solved it, much appreciated.
fixed echo bug for me..thanks
The bug that I can hear myself only when using headphones is not related to this right? Just asking for completeness, as maybe this is another bug (mixer paths or something, dont really know lol)

Yeah this bug is only about other people hearing their voice when talking to you AFAIK.
What's the underlying problem though? Is it only Nougat ROMs use the 900MHz frequency because CM13 is fine?

Please read the post again ! I already mentioned that its not ROM or carrier or band specific. Many people have problems on only N ROMs while others on all MM,N,OOS ROMs .... So still its in search mode ...
I only have it with Nougat Roms, no other Roms.
Don't really want to stop using 4g/LTE kind of defeats the object of a smart phone

more information
It may be related to noise cancellation thing. People only complain to me when I am doing calls on car speakers through an aux cable. And this only happens in custom roms but not on OOS. Tested and reproducible 100 percent times. Latest OOS 3.6.0 with multiboot.
