The phone isn't going to win any aesthetic prizes but it looks like very post iPhone mobile out there, nothing hideously ugly but nothing amazing. It's just a massive 4.8 inch OLED screen which is amazing to look at that you aren't going to be looking at the rest of the phone.
All this pentile complaints are unfounded, most of the people complaining weren't at the event so don't know what it looks like in person. Wait till the phone is in stores and then make your decision, however I really doubt at 306PPI and 720 resolution that you'll see a difference side by side with the GS2, unless you try and find a fault.
Comes with the CPU that we expected and has benchmarked well already, has a GPU that I was disappointed with at first but also has benchmarked better than anything else out there atm. 8MP camera is the norm, it isn't all about MPs anyways, I'm much more interested to see if the pink spot in the camera has gone and if the lag gone from the GS2 as well. So I'm not disappointed with the hardware at all, it looks like it'll be the fastest and have a good enough camera.
Sorry for admitting this but I think Touchwiz is better than stock Android. I tried to go from Touchwiz back to stock GB on the GS2 as everyone said it was crap and I couldn't, it had much better features. Looking at Samsungs new updates to it for ICS, it just looks amazing and much better than stock ICS, which I thought was a major disappointment. S Voice shuts up the Apple fanbois and the feature I'm excited for is the Picture in Picture stuff, that looks worth it alone for me. I dunno who Samsung have hired to make Touchwiz good since the GS2 but they should be paying them more lol.
I just don't see how people complain about the phone, what do they expect? Yeah the phone is made out of plastic, have you ever owned an iPhone 4? If you drop it the back shatters and the metal always gets dented or scuffed, I used to own one before the GS2. I personally think Plastic is a much better material for a device you will probably drop and most people get an iPhone and put a cheap plastic cover on it and never see the phone under it either. So that makes the phone look worse and makes it much bigger, it probably gets dirt under it and scratches the phone anyways. I dropped my GS2 many times and it never shattered or broke, if the back cover broke then just buy another one, plastic is cheap to replace!
The other great thing is it has a micro sd slot and removable battery, which are features you'd all be moaning are gone if they tried to make the phone out of another material. All these other phones are made Unibody to make them feel more sturdy and yet they lack what people on these forums want.
I don't get the complaining, I'm going to see it in a store and if I like it in person then buy one. I think it looks great and what I expected from the GS3. All the leaks too didn't big the phone up to being this mad crazy super phone that changes the world or whatever. So I don't see what people were expecting...

Pretty much agree. I think the phone looks pretty decent, then again the whole zen theming is kinda my thing anyway, so I might be kinda biased. Also I really don't understand whats the problem with the homekey, I actually MUCH prefer having a real homekey than onscreen buttons... They take up screen space cause burn in and I hit them by accident ALL THE TIME.
The screen is a bit of a letdown but I think AMOLED HD+ is just not ready yet and with that resolution pentile isn't that much of a problem. Also once you go AMOLED you can never go back, those washed out blacks on an LCD are just unaccaptable for me..
People were expecting WAY too much. If they really did use a ceramic body people would complain about the pricing because it would be a hell lot more expensive. The hardware in this phone is very good ,zero shutter lag and the improved camera software are really great and some of the gimmicks look really practical (I can see me use popup play all the time). Oh and btw. with the tiny camera sensors in smartphones image quality will actually get worse by bumping up the Megapixel count, but I guess people will never understand that..
TouchWiz is not the most beautiful launcher out there, but it is one of the smoothest (the new version looks even smoother) and I find alot more appealing than Sense. Sense is actually one of the reasons I'd never get a HOX along with the poor unreplacable battery and the lack of an mircrosd card slot.
Once it hits the shelves I'm sure people will stop complaining and see what a nice device samsung has made here. It is not a revolutionary update but it is a pretty good update and I will use it until the next S phone comes out or if the other companies will come to their senses and give us back microsd card slots and removable batteries.
Same here, personally I love the look, what were HTC thinking with the no SD or replaceable battery.
What happens in a year or so when all the batteries start falling over!
I think this version of Touchwiz looks the best personally and I love the new icon style, it feels much more like Ubuntu or something.
The features in Touchwiz though just make it much better than stock ICS, that is if they work...

Can't agree more. The pebble blue looks great. The only thing I still worry is the battery life. I hope it is better than gs2 with the 2000 mah battery. I have been spoiled.

I think it looks great and possibly even better when you get it in your hands. And it's a distinct samsung design. They have a good brand and it's time to trust in it, I think.
I for one did not like the design one bit when I first saw it, but then it kind of grew on me, and I've now pre-ordered two. The whole "designed for humans" slogan didn't make much sense to me, but after actually taking the time to investigate the shape of the sgs3 up close, it dawned on me just how comfortable the thing will be in your hands. The iPhone 4/4S is in my opinion absolutely horrible when it comes to ergonomics, and the SGS2 does not win any prizes in that category either, and now Samsung has designed an ergonomically sensible phone that will fit into your hand perfectly, and thus has been designed with human use in mind. Instead of just having something pretty to look at, like the post 3GS iPhones have been, we now have something that'll be comfortable to handle and hold for long periods of time.
I for one can't wait to get my hands on my new phones!
Will buying depending on when its released for us. I do hope a Bigger battery comes out around release with it being a slim 2700 or even 3000 would be amazing. Add a little bit to the phone and its fine.
I think it looks ok.. Nothing really to dislike. I would say the Samsung widgets could do with some attention. The widgets on my sgs2 are inconsistent. Look at the agenda widget next to the clock. It looks like they have been downloaded from different developers. If they had made the widgets look consistent that would be an improvement. Look at sense for example. The widgets are slick.
The weather widget on the sgs3 is ugly and won't really fit with many wallpapers.

Which is not to say I agree with him on the S3's "beauty" and "falling in love", but that a lot of the reactionary crap spouted here was just because people hate change. The same thing happens everytime facebook makes a major UI change, then people get used to it. Given this, there is a minor irony in that "sheep" thing.
I honestly don't know why there is so much backlash on the design. It looks great!
The ugliest phone this generation has got to be the Nokia Lumia series.
1. rear flash and speakers. way too exposed
2. not a big deal but it does bother me. just make it smaller.
3. home button. if they kept curve on both sides the same it would look like the shape of the phone, it would look nicer.
4. curves too much and looks like the top part is also smaller...should be the other way around if you want to save the phone from dropping.
5. size. for people who wants a bigger screen. that's where the Note comes in. but for a phone to use with one handedly and with the thumb. it say it's too big for the majority.
might change my mind later down the road, who knows.
prob still get it, just to toy around and its newer but not for full price.
The front is very identical to Nexus devices which I like, but the back is quite metrosexual, they should have given its some pattern, which would help with grip too. I guess they'll be some custom back cover for it. It would have looked nicer with the curved body.

Will wait till Christmas and get myself a global SIII when it lowered price after the American versions are released. Hopefully the price lowered as fast of a rate as the Nexus, by $350 after six months, but unlikely this time as quadcore is still new and S series is popular.
Don't forget, there were quite a few complaints about the S2 when it came out.

I do like most of the external design except for the rear battery cover. Maybe someone would make a nice replacement cover that's less slippery

I think this phone will indeed win in the looks department. Like i said before I was too overhyped initially. Expecting it to be made with T1000 metal with Phasers shooting out the side. Now, I can see that it's one of the most beautiful minimalist phones ever made. I think it will win in the aesthetic category.
Can anyone with the HTC One in black confirm that it does not scuff like the paint on the iPhone 5? I currently have an iPhone 5 and it will suck to go to another phone that is painted black.

Black is not released yet but we have been assured it is anodised. The iPhone5 was a joke arriving with chips in the paintwork out of the box! While it is VERY hard to produce things perfectly and there may be a slight flaw somewhere on the phone, some of the iPhone 5s were shocking.

FWIW - I have been using an iPhone 5 since launch day without a single scratch on it (no case or protector). I do however treat my phone considerably better than most. It has never been dropped and is always set down on something soft, never on hard surfaces.
Again, it all depends on how you treat the phone. Under the right conditions, I'm sure the HTC One will scratch as well. Hopefully not as easily as the iPhone though.

Thanks for the video. And that's okay, I don't mind a scratch here and there as my iPhone has scratches as well. But what really concerns me is CNET.co.uk's review of the HTC One Black where they mention the HTC One is actually painted, not black anodized metal, so it chips even faster than an iPhone 5. That in itself is concerning.
I really want a beautiful Android phone like this one, but unfortunately there are some things that are starting to turn me off, like the buttons that are too pushed in with the phone and the IR blaster being on the left, as well as the 2,300maH battery which would've been great for yesteryear but no so much to today's standards.
It's so hard to find a beautiful phone that performs like you want it and has top of the line specifications. I had the HTC One X and had to return it due to manufacturing defects and other problems with Sense (goddamn I hate Sense).
Sorry about that rant, just wanted to know about the black scuffs as that would be a dealbreaker for me.

While I'm not trying to start a war here, because I don't know this stuff as well as some others, I do know that the iPhone is anodized.
A large part of an anodizing process (and it's overall resistance against scuffs/scratches) comes down to the type of metal and its hardness (tempered vs. non-tempered) along with depth, dye, and the finishing process itself. Anodizing is quite a bit different than just spraying some paint on something and moving along - however, it does have the ability to chip/scuff almost just as easily (depending on the process and materials used).

I don't. Never did, and the time I went to a show and put my SII in a zippered pocket I got nasty scuffs, when the taking out.
But the pocket with the phone, is always the phone alone...
A lot of people are complaining about the gaps and build quality of the one.
Any idea if HTC has acknowledged this and doing something about it as in a recall or releasing another batch ?
I am waiting to order mine but not with all these issues. I'd rather wait abit if they gonna sort it out.
I think if you go into the threads regarding build issues, you're going to read a lot of posts about them. Those threads make it seem like a problem, but that group of people is a minority. Also, some of these "build issues" people have are things that others wouldn't consider a problem. For example, some people would not even know their phone wasn't "perfect" had they not read those threads and begun actively searching for the tiniest of gap or misalignment. There won't be a recall because the majority of customers either don't have these problems, or don't look at their phone under a microscope to look for gaps. If people analyzed other phones as closely, they'd find imperfections as well.
True, some of the phones build quality is off, but you have very goods odds of not getting one.

You could always have the store open it for you before you buy it. But overall it isn't as bad as it seems. People next XDA are just overly picky, they rather stare at a phone for flaws then actually just use their phones.

I got mine yesterday, while I am very picky about my phone's, I really don't want to return it.
First, I took it out of the box at home. I saw the legendary "gap" at the top especially, which could get worse in the future, let in dust or wven worse. Then I saw that both corners at the bottom of the phone aren't made well, since the aluminium plate that covers the botom speaker kind of goes over the polycarbonate sides. Put it in my pocket, those 2 sharp edges get stuck somewhere, I pull out my One and tada: I might pull of the aluminium plate of the bottom speaker.
Then again, I started using the phone for an hour and I fell in love (no joke). The thing that blew me away the moest were those speakers... OMG they are fantastic. I haven't been so impressed about a mobile phone in years. The screen was fantastic also (no dead pixels afaik). All in all I love it so much, I wish I could just keep it. But since everything is still pack nicely in the box (charger, earbuds, everything) I will just put the One back init's protective plastic (which is very easy btw, nice) and go back to the store.
Why not try to get a solid build? In the end, they promised zero gap.. Right? But really, I think it's a pretty "real" problem. Even my girlfriend (which also loves the device) said I should go back and doesn't understand why they released these device.. Since you're paying a lot for these products, you'd expect a better made product.
Note: most people wouldn't notice these problems. I'm sure 90%+ of the people I would have showed my One too, would not have seen it. So if you don't mind these kind of small things, don't be afraid!

Agree! If I did know the gap problem before, I cannot notice my One has a small gap.

My HTC One was perfect.
Got mine at the weekend and have to say it looks like I have very minor gaps around the edge although not sure they're gaps could just be misaligned edges, but the phone is amazing and if it was a Samsung no one would care it was made like a kinder egg or mcdonalds happy meal toy.
HTC One is a beautiful device which is absolutely the best device on the market, and i've tried them all.
Helps that it's insured so I can always replace it if any faults occur, but I doubt they will.
Mine was perfect, can't find a single flaw... aesthetically at least.

I've looked at the One at three different retailers now, and they all had issues with the cases. The first was coming apart all over, the second had the top front aluminum speaker plate coming off on the top and bottom left side of the plate. The third was starting to separate at the top as well.
Three out of three -- cases coming apart.
This thread is not pointless. This thread is exposing an issue that the die-hard fans who just spent a lot of money don't want to be true.
HTC better be reading these forums and fixing their problems FAST!
Well lets see some photos of this build quality issue. That way others will know what to look for.
Every make or model will have a certain percentage of faults from the iPhone , to Samsung Galaxy and Nokia etc...

So I bought an Htc One M7 back in May 2014 and build quality was superb. I would like to think that HTC has fixed the issues of old M7 models. Two months ago after dropping my phone accidentally for the 5th time there is a gap on the top where the display meets the plastic. This is 100% due to the drop of the phone. Long story short HTC has listened and fixed the gap issue yay!
Never. HTC is the worst company ever created. The only phone htey created that was "ok" was the M9. The rest are a piece of ****. Go buy an iPhone 6s, way better.

You throw a banquet in a hotel and get a nice award afterwards. User experience is where it counts. The iPhone didnt get as many rewards, and oh wow, the usage time with 4g is now 9 hours, and standby with that is 35 h. Maybe it's not 235 hours like most HTC can do, but why the **** would I need to have the phone in standby for 235 hours. On the other hand, my M7 lasts for about, 4 hours usage time with WiFi. So yes, in my expirience, the iPhone is so much more faster, snappier and has more usage than my piece of **** M7. :good:

Actually, Apple dit get awarded many times in the GMA for example Best Mobile in 2011 with the Iphone4 and best Tablet in 2012 and 2014.... but I guess that doesn't count since this is only a random banquet in a hotel
So yes, in my expirience, the iPhone is so much more faster, snappier and has more usage than my piece of **** M7. :good:

I'm not here to judge your experience or to debate if the Iphone is better than any other phone (Hence why I didn't quoted the Iphone part of your first post), its your choice to prefer one over the other and thats fine, I don't care. Iv replied to your post because of the "HTC never did anything good" part and wanted to share with you some good things they have made over the years, unfortunately, looks like this was only wasted time.

While the M8 looks amazing, I have concerns about the build quality.
I own the last few HTC flagships, so a bit of background.
Desire HD - amazing phone. Absolutely sold me on Android. The wife still uses it.
One X - I rushed out to buy this as the DHD was that good. I had to exchange this phone 4 times due to QC issues - all documented (flex, bleed, dead pixels, etc). The good phone I eventually got now has a bad strip on the digitizer. The bottom row of the keyboard / just above the unlock ring is dead. Out of warranty and unlocked so no chance with HTC. DOA - no new phone for the wife (see above).
One (M7) - amazing phone again, ran out and bought it at launch. It wasn't until I got it home that I noticed a dead pixel and a hair just under the screen. Maddening! Had to return that one as well. Took a month for my carrier to get more back in stock to replace it. In the end, this phone is close to perfect.
One (M8) - ?
Not trying to start any kind of flamewar, but my faith in HTC is waning. Are they the new Microsoft, only release anything good every other?
Just looking for feedback on the build quality on the M8.

I thought HTC has had a pretty good reputation for build quality with the One X being the exception, not the norm for HTC. And that bad pixel on the M7, that's just bad luck that could happen on any phone.
So far, sounds like the build quality on the M8 is really good. I have less concerns about HTC's build quality than I do about some other phone manufactures (I'll avoid the flame war by not mentioning names, haha).
I have two M8's here, one has a screen that is darker and yellower than the other. Not happy, it will be going back tomorrow.

Had that issue on the m7 as well. A speaker blew (4 out of 5 HTC phones I've owned had blown speakers) so I filed a claim. I think it took 4 or 5 tries before I got an acceptable replacement. It was still darker and yellower than my original tho

My HTC One (Red) was pretty solid, however I feel any issues that the One may of had were probably Ironed out by the time the red was released into the wild. - Hopefully HTC will come back with a big bang, like Nokia they've been around a long time.. Just wondering now when the Samsung buzz will wear off and people start to choose stylish, good looking, feature orientated devices over a plastic device. (Not flaming Samsung, as I've had an S3 and an N3)

And everyone knows these types of threads draw out every single device basher which gives a false representation of the actual prevalence of build quality issues.
That said, name just one device that didn't have any.
As for my HTC experience, the One has been a dream... The rest of them all had a lot of issues. If the M8 follows the M7, there won't be any issues. The ONLY complaint I had about my M7 is the camera tint when not in good lighting that came up and got worse the longer I had the phone.
Speakers? Perfect
Gap? None
Display? Perfect
Durability? Incredible.
If you look in my signature, I've had a ton of HTC devices. Among them, there were some really bad ones. The Sensation? Damn thing got so hot that it would reboot if I used the GPS which made it useless for navigating anywhere. MyTouch 4G? Every time I would restart the device, it would lose its internal storage and act like I factory reset it - it was doing that out of the box. PPC-6800? I lost track of the issues between the screen, overheating, freezing, cracked camera - I replaced it through Sprint 5 times before they gave me a Touch Pro in exchange for it. The original Touch? The screen stopped responding. The Hero? The display cracked even though there was no damage to the glass - the whole thing randomly shattered internally one day.
After the Sensation, I vowed never to go HTC again. Then I got the S4 and my roommate got the One. He couldn't get used to the One coming from the S3 so he wanted to trade me, I did it and I never looked back.
If you found issue in all the HTC phones you bought till now, I'm pretty sure you will have some issue with this as well.
I'm seeing a trend, are you not seeing it?

That's my point though - the camera issue with the M7 was likely something HTC couldn't predict until it happened since it was heat specific. Before that, my M7 the first flawless build quality device I have had since the BlackBerry Curve.
You have a Nexus and you're worried about HTC build quality?
Case in point: all mass-produced computers, tablets, and phones have isolated build quality issues. It happens. There's no sense in worrying about what may or may not happen with a device - if I was going on my track record with previous HTC devices, I would have expected to replace my One at least 2 times by now. But that didn't happen.

I buy almost all phones and sell my old ones.. So I never cared about build quality since I don't keep phones for long. The point I'm trying to make is every phone will have something, even if they make a perfect phone some user will nitpick some thing.

I kinda feel your pain...
1. One X, Launch day, before the embargo... Still have it. No issues at all.
2. One (m7), Launch day... Glass was crooked. MEaning it dipped in at the bottom and stuck out at the top. Took it back got another, dead pixel... Finally got a third that was decent.
3. One Max (m6) - Used... Perfect, no complaints.
3. One M8 - Perfect. No complaints...
We all know the One (m7) had some issues... It was luck of the draw.
I have no hesitations except screen size. Coming from N3 and One Max... Its hard to go back to 5"
And fwiw sometimes these threads cause people to look at their device so closely and see they have the same thing and then it bothers them. Had they never come across a thread like this they probably wouldn't have noticed (the small imperfections not big defects)

I know this type of thread will always bring out trolls / fanboys of other manufacturers, but that's not my intention.
I don't think I'm being too picky when I shell out 600 bucks for a phone and expect it to be nearly perfect. I understand there are always flaws in any mass produced electronic device, but to me a dead pixel is unacceptable - once you see it, it can't be unseen. My phone has the purple tint issue with the camera, but I don't care about that. Some may say I'm being nitpicky about a pixel, but I could say the same about others who complain about the camera. To each their own I guess.

I'm not exactly sure what your point is. Yes, I'm seeing a trend, hence me creating this thread to see if others are experiencing issues with the M8. So I'm expected to just suck it up and deal with it if I'm not happy? I continue to buy HTC as I like the design, non-OLED screen, Sense and the community here on XDA.
I really am just looking for others experience with the build quality of the M8.

I'm actually struggling a little with the phone being to big haha. Its pretty cool though. No actual real complaints yet.
I've had a new htc every year for the past 10 or so.
I have not had to return one of them.
The last time I had to bring a HTC phone back was in the touch pro 2 days lol. I guess I'm lucky

I have a HTC One X and I haven't had any issues with it except for band compatibility. Also, the M8 looks nice but I wonder will the metal on it scratch easily?

I bought the M8 from Verizon yesterday and I have zero issues. Screen is gorgeous, no yellowing. There are no gap issues like the M7. Screen is flush with the boom sound speakers. The build quality is outstanding. I had three M7s and each one had issues. One with gaps but a flush screen. One with no gaps but the screen was not flush. And one had gaps and the screen was off.
This phone is easily the highest build quality phone I've ever had. And I have been through many phones.

I really really can speak out of experience, having owned many HTC devices!
HTC Desire - Fantastic phone, no issues, camera lens was very easy to scratch though and after two years the backplate of the phone became loose.
HTC Desire HD - Fantastic phone, no issues there either. I think my only gripe was the AWFUL side cover for the battery and the bottom plastic part of the phone. If I ran my finger over the bottom of the phone there was a difference in levels between the sim-card cover and the body of the phone. No big issue though, and not really a build quality issue either, more of a design flaw.
HTC Mozart - Terrible phone. Lovely design but the phone got dust underneath the screen after having it for just two months. Luckily it was only a temporary phone though. I smashed my Desire HD and picked up a Mozart new in a sale. I got the Sensation three months later.
HTC Sensation & Sensation XE - This phone had a somewhat strange design. The entire back of the phone would come off and it wrapped around the front slightly. After removing the cover two or three times it didn't fit as snugly as it once did and every time you pressed a capacitive button it would result in the phone creaking against the back of the body of the phone. Hard to explain, once again more of a design flaw.
HTC One X - By far the worst HTC phone, but down to design flaws once again. Wi-Fi antenna was stuck to the body of the phone, not the internal of the phone, Tegra 3 chipset would heat up a LOT resulting in the polycarbonate expanding and you being left with no Wi-Fi signal or a very weak one indeed. In terms of other things, such as dead pixels I never experienced this. All in all I had about 6 HTC One Xs in a short space of time due to the Wi-Fi issue, and the Wi-Fi issue was the only problem I had with them. I switched to a GS3 due to this.
HTC One (M7) - I have had about 10 HTC One's in the past year, I got one on release day though and it had the infamous gap issue. This is somewhat a design issue, once again, but could also be a build quality issue as they shouldn't have been let out of QC like that. Due to the complex design of the phone, the edges are prone to sticking out and being "un-even" with the metal housing on the speakers. At the top and bottom of the phones there is often a hairline gap between the polycarbonate and the speaker frame too. On the sides of the phone, the black plastic strips are prone to being uneven, the volume rocker can become loose sometimes. The white polycarbonate was prone to staining and getting dirty, but this isn't really an issue it's to be expected. It's important to note that though annoying, none of these issues rendered the phone unusable. Maybe just unacceptable in some people preferences (mine, I'm a perfectionist and dropping £479 on a phone is a lot)
I will be getting the M8, and I will be an early adopter. I love HTC phones, they are the best regardless.
Those of you who have the S7E are you going to check out and think about switching to the HTC 10?
I only ask because I am honestly thinking about it after seeing it today. I like the looks and the specs look good.
What do you like and dislike about the HTC 10 and how do you think it compares to the S7E?
I was HTC boy since QTEK times till 1 week ago when I went for s7e htc still the same design as M7 from 2013 I think HTC 10 is ugly and only 5.2" display

Design wise it definitely is not winning any awards. But its not as ugly as the g5. Im not switching from the S7EDGE. This a much better phone, the htc 10 is a generic phone, it really has no character, it it really doesnt stand for anything, its a bunch of hardware put together in desperation for sales. The S7EDGE though is a almost a fashion statement, i almost feel special when i take it out of my pocket
Main reason I get Samsung phones over others are screen and camera. Camera may be on par on paper. But the Amoled is still best in the business. Until someone can make a better screen, I'll probably staying where I am.

Yea, I do wish it had a slightly larger display but I actually like the looks of it. Don't get me wrong. I love the looks of the S7E but it's just something about the HTC 10 and it's simple design.
I am looking forward to see how it's screen reacts to touch. Supposedly it will have the lowest response time of any mobile touchscreen on the market including the iPhone. That's about the only thing I miss from the iPhone is it's touch response time.
I'm also looking forward to hearing it's speakers. I like how they kept the front facing speaker for the highs and then separated the lows with the bottom facing speaker. I've also heard if you like listening to music through headphones then it will most likely be the best sounding phone yet.
If i didn't have one more T-Mobile Jump until June I wouldn't even be thinking about it but I'll check it out. Worst comes to worst, if I get it and don't like it, I can always Jump to the Note 6 and then the next Nexus.

They all lay claims but usually HTC are good with audio so with that it will be great I'm sure...
Having an over sensitive screen isn't all good, The M8 was very sensitive and can be an annoyance (or it was for me).
It's not all Gloom and like most here I appreciate all tech and companies that really cater to as many requirements as possible....let's not forget it's the M7 and yes iPhone that pushed for other OEM's to up their game on build & design.....
What we have now is a point where it difficult to choose or getting more difficult to choose......unless the OEM is consistent....
HTC lost that with the M9 not saying that was bad (I really liked it bar the Camera wasn't particularly great).
HTC 10 yes it has all the bells and whistles in regards to specs and design is hmmmmmmm it just doesn't inspire me.....huge Shamfers is the angle that they hope people will be drawn to (design wise) we all look at the overall package though (don't we? ) the M10 will suit a few but I'm afraid the Edge is Samsungs lol
While the 10 sounds good in what's on offer......and I'm sure it will be a very decent device.....I'm not sure this will be the device that will boost HTC.....think they should have opted for the happy Medium of a 5.5" display .....we shall see how some real world reviews come out once released and hope it's good for HTC....

The HTC 10 definitely looks like a top contender, solid design, interesting speakers, Apple airplay! apparently a camera maybe on par with s7e, good battery; even though it's 3000 I think HTC is good at optimizing, so I think it will be as good as s7e, let's not forget to mention unlockable bootloader, BUT when I found out it was still LCD I went ahead and bought the s7e , my last amoled was s5 and I've missed it since, I know the colors aren't as natural but no one can deny how pleasant it is to look at. I love my s7e and I don't like Samsung haha
The only phone that will make me want to switch is the note6 well hopefully the specs are up to the standards. / Loved my note3
Nah, I'll stick with the Edge. The 10 looks fine, apart from the fact that they failed to center that home-button! Why couldn't they have moved it up a millimeter?
I've loved HTC phones for years (even the M9!), and thought the 10 would be my Snapdragon 820 phone that I would go with. But while the 10 looks like it can compete with any flagship phone, for me, it's "too little, too late". It simply wouldn't be an upgrade moving from the S7 Edge (but I do wish Samsung had retained the IR blaster!).

The things about the HTC that are making me consider it over the S7:
Unlocked bootloader (still don't know if we'll ever see the USA S7 unlocked)
Hardware buttons that are almost identical to Samsung's (a big reason I've stuck with Samsung for years)
Possibly 64GB built-in
Camera might give Samsung a run for their money
Sound quality via speakers & headphones
Apparently USB 3.1 via USB-C
Otherwise, the S7/Edge have AMOLED screen, a known great camera, wireless charging, IP68 protection. Now, if the S7 gets full root, I think the S7 is the winner, but that remains to be seen. Glad to see there's a rootable 2016 flagship that will get root if the S7 doesn't. C'mon, Samsung!

HTC 10 looks more like an alternative to the S7 than the Edge. Compared to the Edge, no wireless charging, LCD vs. AMOLED, and a smaller battery and screen are the biggest negatives. No fragile glass back and a front mounted speaker the biggest positives in terms of hardware. I also really like some of Samsung's software mods.
The htc 10 seems to be the best htc phone in many years, and is a legitimate competitor this time around. If the promise is upheld, I'd choose it over the G5. I'd consider it if I were looking at the S7, but probably not over the Edge with its larger screen, battery and Edge functions.
i'm a htc user since 2010. recently switched to s7 edge because of the design of the body, screen, camera, battery and other powerful specs. What I can is that HTC has still the best UI for android phones. Especially now that they minimized the duplicate apps and decided to use the google apps instead. The way HTC handles the settings, app drawer, etc is still far better than the samsung.
I think this is where samsung should made a decision to reduce the bloatware they have for many years now. Sound wise, i'm tempted to hear their new boomsound without the 2 front facing speaker. that feature looks awesome where they place a tweeter at the top speaker and a separated bass speaker at the bottom. Body design wise, i don't think htc change a lot from M7/M8/M9 atleast at the back. the front seems different. it's like a hybrid of A9 and M9. but looks very wide at the pictures. unlike the s7 edge, it looks very slim.
To answer the question, i'm not switching to HTC 10. I like the s7 edge. I just don't like the duplicate apps and some settings I miss with HTC like hiding apps on the app drawer, always alphabetize the app drawer, some default widgets, notification quick setting presets, etc. But since there are some apps and tweaks to make it better, i can live with third party apps to do this annoying things.
Oh man I miss my note 3, it was the greatest, I plan on getting the note 6 but the s7 edge for now is top drawer, had a htc one m9 and apart from warming me up in the winter it wasn't overly great. I'll be staying away from htc until they catch up in screen tech and on design.
As others have said already the only thing that I will consider switching to is the Note 6. The HTC 10 looks like a great phone but besides the speakers it has nothing better to offer. To me it looks like a Samsung knock off.
Nope, the HTC 10 has nothing compelling over my GS7E. Heck, I would choose my old GS6E over the HTC 10. I would choose it, though, over the LG G5.
