Ok, I have the sgh-i337m, found a nifty lollipop rom and downloaded and flashed it, everything's good. On that rom in the settings>about section, it said the model number was the i9505g, and I just assumed they were basically the same phone. I decided I wanted to try MIUI again, and looked on their site. I couldn't find one for the i337m, so i downloaded the i9505 version. Flashed it and whatnot, and it gets stuck on the booting animation. I thought okay no big deal, and tried restoring my lollipop rom. The restore looked like everything went well (the lollipop boot animation was playing), but it never booted up. I left it for hours. I thought ok time to cut my losses and downloaded a stock sasktel i337m firmware and fired up odin and download mode, and it isnt showing up on odin now and i'm realizing im an idiot. Also, it says 'Write Protection: Enabled' while in download mode, if that means anything. Anyone had this issue? Please tell me my phone isn't dead just yet. If you have any other questions about it, just ask, I'll be sitting at home all day bashing my head on my phone until it boots up.
It's not dead. You just need Odin to recognize it. Try different usb cables and ports. Use the ports in the back of your pc. Also 2.0 not 3.0

Hello friend, I followed your advice and I just kept trying random ports (unfortunately, I don't have any USB 2.0 ports on my computer, only 3.0), and it eventually showed up in Odin, I don't know how I forgot to try different ports, but thank you. I flashed the firmware, but it still looks like it isnt booting. It's showing the stock samsung boot animation, and sitting there with the blue LED on, I know it should take a while on the first boot, but i've given her a good 5ish minutes. I'll post again if she doesnt boot after 10-15 minutes.

Still doesn't seem to be working following the Odin flash. If it matters, I flashed the I337MVLUFNI2_I337MOYAFNI2_I337MVLUFNI2_HOME.tar.md5 file.

Boot into recovery and do a factory reset. That should get you past the bootloop

Hey everyone,
so first let me tell you that I am not a newb so I tried every possible solution I could come up with, so this is just a last attempt.
So I wanted to tests some ROMs around since I had a free friday night and Odin screwed me over. I tried to flash JM9 with 512, some other Froyo ROMs and even gave a shot to Darky's resurrection. But no matter what I try, Odin always does one of these things:
It gets stuck at Initializing...
It gets stuck at SET PARTITION...
It gets stuck at Kernel flashing...
It turns my screen into a random colour and gets stuck (green, gray, blue, red so far..)
Tried flashing with/without PIT/Partition, 1 package ROMs, 3 package ROMs, etc.. To no avail. Tried to have the battery out for half an hour, etc..
All I can do with my phone atm is acces Download mode, so that kinda keeps me hoping, however it won't boot or go to recovery..
So any ideas anyone? Thanks for any help..
Download a known working copy of Odin and try that. also download new firmware from samfirmwares too just in case your current firmwares have become corrupted.
used odin 1.0 with pit 512
this was a guide i made for a not so savvy mate. so folder links and other bits you wont have but im sure it will help.
STAGE ONE
You will see in the stage one folder two items one is ODIN the other is a PIT file.
Lets plug your phone cable into a usb port ( on the main board is best not extensions)
Open up ODIN
On the left hand side make sure “Re-Partition” is ticked.
Now click on the words “PIT”
This should bring you up a selection window locate it to the “PIT” file in the same folder as ODIN.
Now put your phone in that downloader mode VOL DOWN+HOME+POWER
Plug the phone into the USB port.
You will now see the first box has a yellow com port under it (top left hand corner)
Now click start.
You will see some text in the bottom left message box.
This may take about 5mins.
But once it is done you will see a big green PASS!! In the top left box.
If its been to long say 10mins take battery out and start again.
If it doesn’t work second time Gtalk.
Once you see PASS!!!! Unplug the phone and take battery out.
STAGE TWO
On the right hand side click RESET ( its next to start)
Now un-tick RE-Partition.
Now in the stage two folder there is three files.
In ODIN click “PDA” this will bring up the selection window
Match it to this file
I9000XXJPY-REV03-PDA-low-CL757011.tar.md5
Phone matches with this file.
MODEM_I9000XXJPY.tar.md5
CSC matches with this file.
GT-I9000-CSC-MULTI-OXAJPY.tar.md5
Now that you have selected the files put the battery back in your phone.
Go back to downloader mode.
Plug phone it when you see the Yellow com port like in stage one click start.
This may take a while but you will see some text in messages box bottom left.
Once this is done we will again get the green PASS!!!!
The phone will proceed to the home screen.
You have successfully updated your phone to the latest version.
Pat on back.
Also make sure kies isnt running and try as many different usb ports as you can.
windows sucks at com port control.
Thanks everyone for the input but as I've mentioned I've tried all possible methods that came to mind. Even the one described above..
Any other ideas? :x
Could it be that your USB driver is screwing things up? Try flashing from a different port or better yet a different computer.
If all else fails maybe you could try to flash with Heimdall instead of Odin.

Just throwing ideas around really.
can you get into upload mode? Try clearing SD card. Clearing cashe. All thy kind of thing.
Try flashing a different kernal disable all lax fix stuff.
What was your set up before you tried flashing?

Install (or re-install, whatever) USB drivers. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=728929
Uninstall Kies (iff installed), it's horrible anyway
Like others said, use a different USB port. Reboot PC (lol, I know).
I like Odin 1.7 best so far...
And I agree, please describe your initial setup. Any fancy kernels? Lagfix/ext4?
Well finally. I did everything on my PC and nothing worked, but managed to try on friend's PC and it worked.
Anyone has an idea on what could have caused this? Hope future flashing will work on my PC
Also thanks to everyone trying to help, limited to 5 thanks only tho
I'm guessing it a driver issue. Assuming you have Windows, whenever you plug a USB device a driver is installed. You can see what these are if you enable the hidden devices: http://www.techrepublic.com/blog/window-on-windows/get-rid-of-old-device-drivers-hidden-in-vista/867 for Vista for example, but it works just like that for others.
Wipe every trace of the Samsung/Android drivers, uninstall Kies, run a registry cleaner, rebbot (obviously), and just reinstall the Samsung/Android drivers. Get the newest Odin. If that doesn't help, I have no idea what the cause might be.
Hello guys i was trying out the new Kangabean 4.3. ROM for my AT&T and after flashing it in TWRP it appears I has softbricked my device. I can only boot into download (odin) mode and it stays on "downloading now".. Anyhow i cannot boot into recovery it just vibrates to confirm my input and just revibrates and revibrates... Looked all over for guides and tried to return it to factory settings on Kies but it does not detect my phone... Any help would be great i need this phone for work everyday!!!

Please search for similar threads. This same issue is being posted over and over and over again. When you were making this post, what "similar threads" or "similar topics" showed up? Did you check them for a solution?
yes sorry i looked at all of them and they all involved well just flashing the stock rom but i cant get my computer to see my gs4 on download mode...i got the drivers and odin installed.
Well, this thread has a couple of ideas...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2405991
or maybe here...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2405127
You might also want to look at the TWRP thread in the development section.
Try again to get into recovery, the key sequence can be tricky, make sure you are doing it just right. "Doing it just right" has been discussed many times.
Also, look at this thread, maybe it will help...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2398336
Yea, I realize that thread is about MF3, but it still has ideas that might help you.
There are also a ton of threads about how to get your PC to recognize ODIN.....search.......good luck.
yeah ive been at it for hours man those links can all access the recovery i cant... i tried everything got the drivers up tried all the odins and its just stuck on "downloading do not turn off target" and my pc doesnt see it...
Odin finally recognized it on the pc in download mode and i was able to flash the stock rom but it seems it wasnts successful...it still just vibrates and vibrates when i press the power...
Try flashing the open recovery.

Take battery out, back in, power+volumedown, download mode, Install Samsung Kies, do Kies update, connect to PC, Tools-> firmware initialization, take battery out and type model/serial Number, wait patiently until it finishes.
Try different USB port or different PC. Use stock USB cable comes with original box.
If Kies screen get stuck at model number section, you did flash MF3 triangle thingy -> unsolveable brick. Have to go thorugh warranty replacement.

the Kies Emergency firmware utility worked it put my phone like the day i bought it...also rooted it successfully and installed TWRP on it thanks guys
I tried searching, but it appears to be broken most of the day today. I did try searching page by page, but didn't get any results.
My brand-new S4 is softbricked apparently. From stock, two night ago, I rooted the phone based on this guide.
I then installed GooManager and installed the TWRP 2.3.6.1 recovery manager. All seemed fine. I was going to install a custom ROM, but decided to back up the phone first. So I booted to recovery and made a backup. I rebooted and all was fine. Then I rebooted to recovery to wipe the phone. I went into the wipe menu and selected Delvik Cache, and a couple more options but I can't remember which. I know I did have USB-OTS (or whatever it is) and that didn't work, so I undid that. I did not have SD Card selected.
The backup appeared to work fine. I rebooted and the phone gets to the "Samsung" screen with the small lock that says, "Custom" under it. That's as far as it gets.
I found this thread to restore the stock. However, when I tried to connect the phone in Odin mode, it will not recognize the phone. The PC recognizes the phone (it makes the noise) and Kies sees the phone, but won't do anything with it. It detects that a phone is connected and tries to identify the device, but can't.
The PC detects my wife's S4 just fine. I'm using the same cable.
BTW, if I try to boot to recovery mode, I get the Samsung lock screen (the same one it hangs up on), then a black screen for a few seconds. Then it goes back to the Samsung lock screen and just sits there. Oh. BTW, the phone does appear to go into download mode just fine. Hitting the Vol Dn button to cancel, does reboot the phone.
So I'm looking for help trying to get Odin to detect the phone. Any suggestions?
BTW, the phone will enter download mode just fine and the Vol Dn button does work to reboot the phone (though it still locks up during the boot sequence).

Try opening taskmanager in windows ( run >taskmgr ) and before you plug the phone into
usb on your computer end the KIES process in task manager, Kies should not be running
when you plug the usb from phone to computer.
What I have done a long time ago is to uninstall KIES as well as all the samsung usb drivers,
then I downloaded and installed the official Samsung usb drivers from here: http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/c...ng_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones_v1.5.14.0.exe
after doing that I have never had any more issues with Odin flashing.
Good luck!

Kies is not running in the background. I couldn't get either phone to be recognized by Win7 originally. However, once I uninstalled the driver and Kies, rebooted and re-installed both, I could get Kies and Windows to see the phones. BTW, Linux always sees both phones.
So I'll try your suggestion, and let you know.
I followed your suggestions. I uninstalled the drivers and Kies. Reboot and install drivers. I connected my phone and Odin didn't see it. I connected my wife's phone and windows did the "new hardware found" thing and installed the drivers. As soon as that was done, Odin recognized her phone. I unplugged her phone and plugged mine in and it doesn't see it.
It's almost like the phone doesn't get far enough into the boot process for the computer to recognize anything. It hasn't booted far enough, or something like that.

And you are sure it didn't self update on it's own to mf3? Your Odin and drivers seem right, however kies/Odin don't support mf3.

If you're still on MDL and can get into recovery, Mount to usb and throw a ROM onto your internal; or use a sdcard and put it in your phone and flash a new system. Possibility your nandroid is broken, it can happen.

I don't think so. Every time the update message came up, I just hit the home screen button to go away from it. I don't see how it could have.
I was under the impression that it wouldn't update if the phone was rooted, but maybe I'm wrong about that.
I guess, if it did update, I'm completely screwed, right?
And is there anyway I can find out if it did update?

Only way it won't update to MF3 If you already had a custom rom on it , but if you rooted it while on MDL and didn't flash a custom rom then update will go in automatically!
Damnit. That sucks.
I guess I'll try the BB restore method. Hopefully, it will work. Thanks for the help all.
Well, good news and bad news.
The good news is that I've got the phone back to stock MDL!!!! <whew!> The bad news is that I'm an idiot.
Where I screwed up was that when I connected the phone, I had only done the VolDn, Home and Power button into download mode. What I didn't do was hit the VolUp from that screen to actually get into download mode. As soon as I did that, Odin recognized it. I was then able to use this method to reflash it with stock MDL. Now I'm back to stock and with MDL.
Hopefully, this if somebody else forgets this important step, this thread will help them.
Thanks to everybody for the help though! It got my mind thinking the right way to find the solution.

You can only stop the update temporarily, in fact just pressing the home screen doesn't stop the process and it'll eventually force update even with the screen off at idle. Just a root won't stop the updating, unless you froze the necessary processes or flashed a different ROM and framework it'll find a way to update.

I'm very worried about that now. I rooted my wife's phone. She doesn't want a custom ROM. I told her not to update it, but once it does, I have problems. I have to figure out which processes to freeze to prevent the update apparently before it tries to do it itself. At least she knows not to manually update it.
I found the stuff I needed to do to block the update on my wife's phone. All is good.

When I connect it to Pc it keeps bootlooping and pc gives sound of connecting then disconnecting of hardware.

You are right I did it the same way and it worked for me too. I actually was thinking the phone was quite dead bur or wasn't, I just flashed the recovery firmware 4.4.4 Russian and if you ask me food the step by step procedure it was just like this:
1. I started the Odin 3.07 and connected my device to see is it was detected or not, my surprise the Odin catch it, and shown added and the port number was 18.
2. I just pulled out the USB cable from my laptop and loaded the BL file only to just flash the bootloader file and see what would happen, I was trying it bcz I was totally disappointed with the device i.e. Grand Prime 530H Duos. I also noticed that my device was not stable even with that black screen it used to restart after almost five minutes in that case. And I knew that in 5 minute I will just be able to flash BL file. The BL file was loaded on the Odin now and I inserted the USB cable again while keeping the vol down button pressed to my laptop when the Odin again found and connected with my device, I didnot take any more time to flash BL file.
3. As soon as i had not flashed all the SW therefore, my device didn't boot properly, and I thought it didn't work but when my device was connected to the computer I just listened the startup tone of the Android 4.4.4. From that moment I knew my device was not dead now so i had to select all four files from the recovery firmware of 4.4.4 and connect the device to odin even there was no sign of download mode, as soon i clicked the Start button i saw many things in the Odin which were good enough to see. after the firmware flashed the device got started.

Hello guys! Could you please help me with the same issue? The difference is that Odin doesn't recognize when I plug in my phone! I don't know what else to do. It's a G530H.
Thank you very much!

Is your USB cable original is it working on other devices? And are you using a USB 2.0 port, that is very much necessary, for Odin and some other hardware/software environment applications. And you also must have Samsung USB drivers installed in your PC, you can also try all this process on some other PCs

Hello!
Yes, that USB works with other phones. And even not being the original one, it was working to transfer files before this issue...
It is a USB 2.0 port, and even when I go to "Device Manage" on Windows, it doesn't show any port with an unknown device or something like that...
Thanks!
Recovery is not Seandroid Enforcing Odin isn’t detecting my phone, any suggestions?
I successfully rooted my phone and was trying to install the exposed framework and i guess downloaded the wrong one. When i flashed it i ended up getting into boot loop. I am on N910F with the 2 Network.
I have tried factory resetting with the caches but to no avail. The only other option i found was Odin, the problem is Odin is not detecting my phone when in recovery mode but seems to have no problem coming blue when starting up giving the 3 logo startup which just goes when it start looping again. I have tried 2 computers, a different cable although old and all my USB ports and the same thing keeps happening. I have already reinstalled Samsung USB Drivers times. I am wondering if they are any others.
Please Help

Are you connecting phone to Odin in Recovery mode or you mean to say download mode. You should put phone in download mode For connecting to Odin.

Thank you,
I just figured that out from some genius from Reddit Not 4 Thread. I guess the guy in the YouTube tutorial accidentally said "hold volume up" and so did everyone else I happened to come across which ended up wasting me a lot of time.
That was so lucky, because I really would have done some crazy stuff I didn't know about.
Thank you so much for taking the time to reply. Maybe I should contact the guy from YouTube to add an annotation or something.

Yes it was, the problem was I was given a bad tutorial and told to hold "volume up" to go into TWRP recovery instead of "Volume Down" into downloader.
Everything is working great now and my phone is working again.
