Has anyone successfully downgrade official lollipop 5.0 to official kitkat 4.4? How? Is it safe to do it? Please help [emoji38]
I am quite sure a lot of people have gone back to KitKat from Lollipop, including me. In the course of last one week I have flashed Lollipop at least six times and came back to KK each time. So yes, downgrading is absolutely problem free.
Thank you devil

I would save all your personal data to the PC desktop. Wipe everything ( twice ), and then do a factory reset. Now odin flash back to whatever version of KK OS you want to run. Make sure you use a complete stock .tar firmware ( system/modem/bootloader ) from xda or sammoblie has them. Once you flash back to stock, odin flash it again to make sure everything installs. Then root and reinstall your data. If you do a lot of flashing from lollipop to KK, your going to have to take out the trash every once in while for lack of better words. I do a lot of flashing and end going back to bone stock about once a week, this helps from corrupting vital programs like efs. So in other words there is no magic pill. For more info click my signature the versions of KK might be different but the procedure is the same.

Downgrading official lollipop (XEO) to Kitkat (BTU)
Hello Note 3 users. I would like to ask (maybe someone already tried) to downgrade official (not leaked one with bugs as was mentioned) lollipop to kitkat? My phone originally had BTU kitkat, but I wanted to test lollipop and downloaded one from sammobile (XEO). Flashed as it was described in Sammobile website, everything went well. Rom is working well, but gps takes ages to fix, and only a few satellites. They are always lost while driving. Because of this reason I would like to come back to BTU kitkat again (get gps working normally again and receive future OTA updates). Can I flash Kitkat like it's described in sammobile? Wouldn't I mess the bootloader or something? (XEO Lollipop to BTU Kitkat)
I successfully downgraded from Samsung's official 5.0 to 4.4.2. I wiped the phone first in recovery. Then flashed using Odin version 3.09.
My Note 3 is an SM-N9005.
After receiving the 5.0 update yesterday for my Note 3 (product code XSI) and not liking it very much I will be downgrading again. At least the newer build in the XSI ROM seems more stable than the BTU ROM I tried before but I will still downgrade. One of my favourite apps, Delayed Lock, isn't working on 5.0.

Hi folks, I have recently updated my Note 3 SM-N9005 from Kitkat 4.4.2 to Lollipop using the BL, CSC, CP AND PIT Files. But I didnt like Lollipop, lots of bug like no NFC, alarm doesnt work with flip cover, gps issue, etc.. So flasked original firmware (O2 Germany) with odin 9 but no luck. After successful installation my Note 3 just stuck at Galaxy Note 3 screen. Even tried factory reset, wipe data not still stuck at the welcome screen. Is there a way to install kitkat original firmware?
You updated the bootloader so no. Just reflash the beta and wait for official update. Or you can try CM11
revert from android 5.0 to 4.4.2
Download this rom with 5 files with pit file and flash with odin, and do a wipe/factory reset before and after, then u can flash latest rom for your phone from sammobile.

Yes, I did that. Your UK firmware (UFNF4) and O2 Germany could install successfully but Note 3 wont boot. However,DBT firware couldnt install, odin gave error is initially installation process. Eventually I had to install leaked lollipop

I think the .pit file for Lollipop makes the system partition smaller, so it's only normal that no KitKat can boot, as to why after flashing a KitKat .pit you can't boot up, I don't know. You could have booted up Lollipop without the .pit for it, you know, I didn't, and I can revert to a KitKat backup anytime without any issues.
But yeah, you might have to stay on Lollipop for a couple more weeks until we get an official update.

Hi, is your issue resolved?
I'd like to tell that I have successfully rolled back to 4.4.2 GNG1 BTU ROM from the Leaked 5.0 ROM.
I had luckily backed up my original PIT file from 4.4.2 ROM before upgrade to Lollipop leak. As there were many bugs with the leak, i decided to restore a Nandroid backup of kitkat. But it failed miserably as all the apps started crashing. So I did a fresh flashing of 4.4.2 GNG1 BTU rom with my Backup PIT file. And now everything is working fine for me.
I have 32GB N9005 model. Let me know if you need the PIT file for the same.
It would be great if you can share the pit file with me. I desperately need to go back to 4.4.2. I too have 32 GB SM-N9005 model from O2 Germany
worked successfully for me
I had same issue when I was downgrading to 4.4.2 , but it worked for me :
1- install leaked Lollipop via pc odin ( no need pit file)
2- boot your phone up and if you see welcome screen it means you still are cool
3- download nad install 4.4.2 GNG1 via pc odin, and dont let it to boot up
4- go to stock recovery mode and wipe your phone
5- reboot your phone and hopefully you will be fine

On my first link i give you, u have the pit file for 4.4.2 and all the files u need to revert to 4.4.2, all u have to do is to download that rar and ur problem is solved.
So guys, I now able to downgrade to 4.4.2. As you have guys suggested, I used pit file sokar_goauld (32GB N9005) and used GNG1 BTU ROM, the way RedApple has suggested. Now everything is back to 4.4.2 though not the German O2 firmware.
Thank you guys!
I have one more question, can I now flash O2 Germany firmware on this GNG1 BTU ROM without any pit file? Seems like O2 Germany bootloader/firmware is an older version, so not sure if further downgrading to original O2 Germany firmware is possible without any issues?
Have a nice weekend.

i think there is something wrong with flashing lollipop on your device. i already tried flashing lollipop and i downgrade it to kitkat successfully without error... many people say that its ok to downgrade from lollipop to kit kat... like me im on kitkat now because i dint like lollipop so many bugs. i will wait the official update..
That's good!
Now I'm eagerly waiting for the Official Lollipop
Thanks you Guys

Thank you guys, God bless you
I started losing hope going back to kitkat or even reviving my Note 3 back...

I want to go back to KitKat as i preferred it (i wont go into reasons why)
Is there a downgrade path for me, either officially or unofficially?> I dont think there is at the moment.
Thanks guys!
Yep, this forum is literally packed with instructions on how to do it, a simple search will bring up what you need
hi thanks, i thought with the new protected bootloader i didnt think it possible.
this is what i read:
Note: The G900FXXU1BNL9 Android 5.0 Lollipop update comes with a protected bootloader it is clearly emphasize that the “SE for Android Status – Enforcing” that might cause issues when you try to downgrade to the old software updates. This also applies if you are planning into rooting and installs any custom recovery and any unsigned firmware once you are on Android 5.0 Lollipop , so please be aware with that.

Yesterday I tried out AllianceROM 6.0 and a few hours ago I went back to 4.4.2 'cause I liked it better than Lollipop. Here's what I did :
1. Enter Download Mode and flash STOCK 4.4.2 KitKat firmware in Odin (I used 3.10.6) and let it start booting.
2. It won't boot, this is normal (I panicked when this happened though ).
3. Go to recovery and factory reset/wipe data your phone.
4. Now hit reboot in recovery and your phone will boot up again (YAY :sun.
5. OPTIONAL : If you've made a nandroid backup before going to 5.0 you can now flash TWRP and restore it over your STOCK 4.4.2 KitKat firmware.
Hope I helped Let me know if it works out for you!
SUCCESS!!!
All sorted.
The hardest part was finding a link to the rom. sammobile kept giving me a gateway 502 error.
im now back to kitkat, AND no THREE UK rubbish.

Hi,
Im from the netherlands and noticed that the update for 5.0.1 is available.
I have the Exynos (N910C) version android 4.4.4 rooted installed now.
I have changed dpi settings true xposed.
What is the best way to update to the new version 5.0.1 ?
Thanks,
Roy
I have used the auto root to root the stock rom.
N910C is Exynos, not Snapdragon, so choose your ROM carefully.
Best way to upgrade is to backup everything first, then install new ROM with Odin (download correct version from sammobile), then root using your method of choice (I personally recommend flashing TWRP recovery and choose root on exit).
After that, you can restore everything you need from the backups.

Your device was rooted and no way to upgrade 5.0.1 via OTA. The only way now is download latest Firmware (for your Area) on Sammobile.com or similar website then using Odin to upgrade. Remember: full wipe on recovery first then flashing FW via Odin on Downloadmod.
Thanks for the awnsers. i meant the Exynos, sorry for that.
I havent tryed to update it true normal update way becouse i thought this wasnt possible as my device is rooted.
So i might try if i can do this?
Roy
OTA will fail because you tripped Knox when you rooted.
Besides, lollipop brings a new bootloader, modem and csc, so even if you choose to flash a custom lollipop ROM, you still need to upgrade those using Odin.

I have installed the 5.0.1 version true odin without doing a full wipe. I still have all my apps and files and it seems to work oke.
Did i have to do a full because of the battery draining stuff? or is it oke like this?
Roy
Should be fine as it is, but a full wipe once in a while never hurts...
If you notice something wrong, battery drain, lag or even applications force-close, then why not... perform a full wipe and restore your apps and settings gradually.
Make sure you backup everything, i failed my stock update to android 5..0.1 (OTA), and now i still didnt found anyway to get my data back, it remains dead there

Hi,
My Device is:
SM-N9005 LTE (32GB)
It was running 4.4. Kitkat and I tried to flash Android 5.0 via Odin. Everything went fine except wifi which did not turn on at all. While searching I found out that many users faced this and there isn't a best fix available yet. Probably I flashed a wrong firmware which may have caused some csc mismatch or kernel issue. I definitely needed the wifi back so i went on to try and experiment more on the device which brought me to CM 12.1 and I flashed it via TWRP. It brought back my wifi but now i miss some of my staple apps on this device especially S Pen Stylus & S health. I tried the simple method - downloading a firmware from sammobile and flashing it through Odin but it failed in Odin. Is there any way I can go back to to Stock firmware? My knox is at 0x1 but it doesn't matter much.
Thanks a lot in advance.

Hi,
I already tried that but it gives this error.
Maybe you have updated your bootloader that's why you can't downgrade. Try lollipop roms. Or try a tw based custom rom with twrp.
What is the baseband and bootloader on your phone?
Match the last 4 characters to firmware here: http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-N9005/
I'm sorry for hijacking this post, but something fairly similar happened to me.
I've got an SM-N900, decided to update to Lollipop but despite all my efforts I've been getting awful battery life so I'd like to go back to KK.
Right now I'm using
Bootloader & PDA: N900UBUEBOF1
CSC: N900PGUEBOF2
Baseband: N900UBUEBOC3
and would like to go back to
PDA: N900UBUDND1
CSC: N900UWADND3
I've been reading and found that you need to flash this if your bootloader is on Lollipop, this is where my doubts begin. How do I know if my bootloader has been updated to Lollipop? If my BL is on Lollipop and I flash that file, can I install any KK rom?
Thank you for reading this, and I apologize for hijacking this thread.
You can't Odin to NK3 from MM PE3, so in order to do this you've gotta Odin downgrade to LP COK2 and THEN flash recovery flash the selected KK rom of choice and then whatever KK kernel ya can find that ya like, I've found that LLFK is still active and alive. You might also wanna Odin flash the KK modem too for better GPS location.
Samsung made it or tried to make it irreversible ever since COK2, it's impossible to Odin back down to NK3 KK, so you have to flash a rom, kernel and modem for matching baseband.
1st: Odin COK2 Firmware LP 5.1.1: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24545065934258546

5th: Odin KitKat NK3 N915T Modem: http://www.mediafire.com/download/s3l46lx7dfs26on/modem.tar.md5
Trust me I played around for a day and a half until I discovered it was possible to boot a KK rom off of COK2 and messing with Odin too, just a warning if ya don't flash a kernel you won't have working WiFi at all. Can't even Odin to LP 5.0.1.
I tried 3 times, regular flashing once, no kernel or modem, WiFi toggles would stick and just freeze as if they hadn't been touched and switched on, another time with the kitkat modem Odin flashed after installing the KK rom, again no response to the WiFi toggles no sign of WiFi connectivity, GPS location was better than no old KK modem and faster at picking up a location and then I flashed a kernel and suddenly everything was working as it should.

So does it allow you to go back to 5.1.1 from 6.0.1 by just flashing 5.1.1 In Odin with everything working?
Yes you can, no I couldn't go any further back than COK2 5.1.1 Odin firmware everything working fresh like new out the box, any earlier Odin firmware attempts ended in the fail error everyone is posting about, tried with BOD7 5.0.1 Odin firmware and got the same error as KK firmware.
TL;DR Simplicity - COK2 LP 5.1.1 is the earliest you can back to in Odin, I think COK2 locked the previous version firmwares bootloader, trying to make downgrading to Original KK firmware irreversible.

Cool, I just want to go to 5.1.1 maybe to check out some of those roms. I'm using tekhd 6.0.1 deodex and saw some interesting 5.1.1 roms I might want to try as I just received a note edge after trading in my note 4 for a broken camera that didn't focus so I'm ready to start roming this bad boy. But a simple Odin back to 5.1.1 and I'm good to go sounds great. I was hesitant to update to 6.0.1 as I thought I wouldnt be able to go back but did the update anyway. Thanks for the response. I'll try in a few days after playing around with 6.0 for a few days.
In theory you could probably go down to LP 5.1.1 just by flashing a LP rom and a LP kernel, I don't see why the same method wouldn't work for that. So before ya Odin get a good LP kernel and LP rom and try that out, I seen someone say to do that to LP for KK and that's what made me try and find out.

True, but I'll want to have a clean install for any rom I use on 5.1.1 just in case. Thanks again, team work makes the dream work.....of being a flashaholic. Lol
Do you have to be rooted for this to work? Honestly I just want to root my phone, but it seems like you can't root MM if you're on T-mo. I figured downgrading was my only option.
This thread should be a sticky
I can't seem to find any Kitkat kernels and LLFK dropbox links won't load for me. Anyone know where to get kitkat kernels?
EDIT: Seems it was a problem with my computer. Got it to load on my phone. But the Mediafire link also seems broken with a captcha that won't load properly. I'll see how it goes without it.
@MikeChannon Should this be stickied? @Zuffle I'll see if I can find a mirror or if db works me then make one myself.

Well a couple of things. Tutorials normally go in the device General forum so they don't get lost in a sea of question threads, but the decision about whether it should be a sticky or not I normally leave to the Forum Moderators who are a bit more in touch with what's happening in the forum and know better what should be stickied.
So let's summon the Mods for this device: @Whiskey103 @Jonny @Razvan @Bajanman @sawdoctor @TEKHD @The Merovingian @mark manning

lazy see,lazy do... .....:silly:
Theoretically this could be done for any version of the note edge, just remember to rollback and odin flash the matching version of 5.1.1 for your edge and then get the modem for it if possible and the kitkat rom of your choice, as well as root and twrp. But I believe and don't see why this side-step method wouldn't work for other versions of the edge and I imagine they (Sammy) locked the bootloader on all versions of 5.1.1, which is what people are getting hung up on in odin trying to flash 5.0.1 and 4.4.4
It's just the US models that Samsung locked the bootloader. I don't know about the Korean models but the other international models you can downgrade to any firmware of your choice.
