Not sure if I have this correct, but is the LTE/WCDMA/GSM option in network mode, the same as 4G/3G/2G?
I'm asking because my wife's phone seems to have trouble connecting to 4G sometimes, yet mine is fine (when at the same location).
I started to check our settings, and I noticed mine was LTE/WCDMA/GSM and hers 4G/3G/2G.
Also I have the 4G icon visible at the top of the screen, but she doesn't.
I got 4 of these phones for my family last year at the same time, when I renewed my contract.
All 4 came at the same time, on release day, with new 4G sim cards.
I rooted them a few months ago, using the method on these forums, by downgrading to ANE2, towelroot, upgrade back to ANG2.
Device info for all is:
Android: 4.4.2
Baseband: G900FXXU1ANG2
Kernel: 3.4.0-2089850
Build: KOT49H.G900FXXU1ANG2
SE for Android: Enforcing SEPF_SM-G900F_4.4.2_0040
I paid for sim unlock for 2 of these phones after rooting, and both of these show as LTE/WCDMA/GSM, and the other 2 as 4G/3G/2G.
Using a root explorer, I checked the persist.radio.lteon file on both, and its set to true. However, her phone didn't have the following 2 files: persist.radio.netmode.auto & persist.radio.user.change
Not sure what else to check, or whether to flash her phone again and root it again or not.

Yes LTE/WCDMA/GSM is the same thing as 4G/3G/2G.
#1 - Did you put your SIM card into her phone to see if anything changes? And put her SIM card into your phone to see what happens?
#2 - Also check to make sure the APN settings on both phones are the same?
Right, did a speedtest on both phones. 4G speed came back at 14-16mb/s on each phone (i'm in a ****ty reception area, so my upload was crap)
Then I swapped the sims around. With her sim in my phone, still got the LTE/WCDMA/GSM option in network mode
My sim in her phone still gave 4G/3G/2G in her network mode.
Speedtest again, gave around 14mb/s again.
So the sim cards look to be fine. All I can surmise is that because my phone is sim unlocked, that's why I have the LTE option and she has the 4G option.
Thanks for the help.

my phone hasnt gotten any signal for the last 2 days. i dont know what happened, the phone just says NO SERVICE. I know its not my T-Mobile account since my sim card works perfectly on another phone. this phone has never been dropped, and its only about 3-4 wees old. It started when I was eating lunch in my school's cafeteria (which is underground) when i noticed i had no service and a "g" every once in a while (theres usually atleast 2 bars and always 3g since my school is downtown). i thought nothing of it since it was underground, but my signal never came back.
what should i do? i flashed the newest radio earlier and now i dont even get the "g" anymore.
it's running virtous 0.8.1 with S-OFF. i also tried my cyanogenmod backup but there was no difference.
im going to try to return everything back to stock and see if it works. did this happen to anyone else? if so how did you fix it?
does anyone have any information that could help?
Probably a long shot, but have you tried enabling and then disabling airplane mode?
Idk if this'll work, but hey its worth a try call *#*#4636#*#* and change your settings, it should restart your network. Hopefully.

Did you test the SIM in another phone? Did you try enabling 2G networks only to determine if this is related to 3G/4G? Did you call tmo to see if there are network issues in your area?
What is your city location?

i have tried those things, when i do *#*#4636#*#*, it shows that i have a signal but it doesnt show on the status bar or that im connected to tmobile. when i go to select network in settings, it says my sim card wont allow me to connect to this network, which makes no sense since its a tmobile sim card and was working fine 2 days ago.
i live in Buffalo, NY. there is no network outage here since i tried my sim in another phone and it worked fine

All bets are off until you restore the stock rom with OTA update. Post back once you've returned it to factory because tbh, nobody from T-Mobile can or will help you either if your phone is all jacked up.

This is a network issue, its not your rom, no worries. When registration fails or network not allowed happens, tmo needs to send an engineer to the local towers to fix it up or file a trouble ticket. Is it happening within your home area, such as a 7 - 10 mile radius - or wider.
Take my word for it, you need to call

I have the same problem, and I'm in the LA area. Called, T-Mo and they said there werent any outages at the time.
Tried enable/disable airplane mode. no go.
Tried enabling only 2g mode. no go.
I don't have another phone with me to try my sim card in right now, so will try that later (T-mo rep said to use the new sim card).
I'm running stock on my g2. Will update when I get it fixed.
I'm having the same issues. went back to the stock ROM. went through several different ROMs still, the same.
Someone PLEASE help.
Sim card try another, seriously, happend to me once and a friend... went back to stock and everything.
G2 doesn't like sim cards....
Same thing happened to me. Card worked in my old G1 but not my G2...it was less than 30 days so they replaced it. This is worrying me though...I hope it's not a common issue that can just happen any time.

Is the phone set to LTE only? If it is, does the carrier support VoLTE?

LTE/4G is a Data-Only network. To make calls over it your carrier needs to support Voice Over LTE, or VoLTE for short. Which is the mobile equivalent of VoIP.\
If your carrier does not support VoLTE, and your device is only allowed to access LTE, you can't make calls. Change to 'LTE/WCDMA (Auto)' (4G/3G) or 'LTE/WCDMA/GSM (Auto)' (4G/3G/2G) mode so the phone can automatically change to a network that supports voice codecs.

Something appears to be preventing the automatic switch from LTE to 3G/2G. Did you do something in the Servce menu?

Not receiving incoming calls on AIRTEL 4G LTE
Iam facing peculiar problem with the phone. Need help with the problem.
I am using samsung note 3 LTE. When ever some one tries to call me, my mobile is Not reachable or out of coverage area even when my mobile is in my hand , perfectly working with the second sim. outgoing calls are working fine. Again, when I am in call, then if any one tries calling me, then I get call waiting. So incoming call waiting is working for me. But incoming calls are not able to connect. LTE data is working fine though incoming calls are not working.
Tried the following but no luck. Problem still persists:
1. Reset phone and erase all data
2. Hard reset phone (volume down + poweroff and clear all data in drive)
3. Tried changing SIM to second slot
When I switch the sim back to 3G mode or 2g mode , incoming calls are working perfectly fine . I googled it and found that most people had same issue and was resolved on switching back to 3G or 2g .
But I need to use 4g . Please tell me a solution.
I had that same issue until I took my note 3 to Rogers and they said that the note 3 doesn't support Lte
Your rom must support VoLTE.
I would unroot and go back to stock firmware, and see if problem still happens,? if it does ,its most likely the sim card.sd card reader slot, (flex cable),my Galaxy s4 had the similar symptoms , but LTE would work with a custom rom, but not if I used stock firmware, replacing sim card reader flex , just google your mak and model and search ebay. mine cost a few pounds for a decent quality part, so dont go rushing to buy the cheapest. No problems since replacing that part, even after resetting phone 3 times to see if it was a fluke. I know its a bit late for a reply, but this actually worked , I am 99% sure it would work for anyone else who has this problem with lte not connecting when 3G, and 2g do connect. If you have tried swapping sim cards, putting sim in another phone,, etc, etc. this part mentioned(sim card/sd card reader) is your culprit. Took me just over 5 hours of testing to find the solution. thanks and fair well android users

For many people having issues with LTE not connecting and diverting to voicemail on android, I am here to offer a solution to your woes. I have a Samsung Galaxy S4, GT-I9505, and recently in in 2018 in July, I had the same problem, phone calls connected on Gsm, Wdcma, BUT when I tried LTe mode, NOTHING, WENT STRAIGHT TO VOICEMAIL.Anyway I tried almost everything mentioned on certain websites and forums, with some luck, Changing LTE mode to GSM worked, and I could receive and hear phone calls. So I investigated further, I tried re flashing stock firmware, factory resetting phone.(nothing worked). I then rooted my phone and flashed a custom rom (do not try this) as it could damage your device if flashed wrongly. Yeah, so I flashed a custom rom, and low and behold problem disappeared, so I used my phone on LTE for 2 days, with no problems, I then decided to go bacjk to stock firmware, ...problem came back, not connecting to LTE mode..........being as patient as I can be, never gave up, and had a spare phone which was dead, just laying in the drawer, ..so ,I took phone apart and thought, it must be where simcard contact make contact with sim card reader contacts ( broken sim card /sd card reader part, and was I wrong, no, it actually was the sim card reader part which coonects with th motherboard, Voila, I am 99% sure if anyone else has this problem with any android that has LTE capabilities, and you know its not the sim card, then try this fix first, MAKING SURE YOU GET SOMEONE YOU KNOW TO HELP YOU , IF YOU ARE UNSURE OF WHERE TO BUY AD HOW TO FIT. hope this has helped, and I know it is a long thread, but hopefully it will be a solution that works for whoever reads and trie this, over and out. yours in sincerity, Tech82, from Surrey, England.

In fairness post might be useful to some .
Where it is actually the sim holder .
But 99% of the problems are not the sim holder .
Though very odd that S4 user makes only one post and that's on a Note 3 forum not his phones forum .
i am facing the problem with my LGF180
This is Note 3 forum not your phone .
I'm having a bit of a weird issue with my Moto X Play folks.
I bought this carrier-locked (it's the only way we can do it in Canada), and then bought and unlock code and unlocked it. Ezpz.
It's been working fine for over a week now, but suddenly last night I notice that despite having signal bars and LTE data working, I don't have any actual cell phone service (I can't call or text anyone, it says mobile network not available).
My phone is still completely stock, haven't changed anything or fiddled around with apn settings or whatnot, so I have no idea as to why it's suddenly doing this.
I have tried restarting the phone, pulling out and re-inserting the sim card, etc. but nothing is helping so far. I notice that upon starting up the phone it detects that it is Rogers for a split second and then just reverts to No Service.
Anyone know what the issue is?
Waybe try with another sim card?
Envoyé de mon XT1563 en utilisant Tapatalk
I don't have any other sim cards, unfortunately.
Try this:
See screenshots (in case you missed the drill)
1. From drop down setting menu pick "more"
2. From "more" pick "cellular networks"
3. From "cellular networks" pick "network operators"
4. From there let it finish scanning
5. It should give you everything it can see (network wise inc other networks Bell, Telus, etc)
6. Pick "choose automatically"
See if that does the trick. If not come back to #4 and pick appropriate network (the ones with -Ext suffix are roaming partner network and usually don't connect if you are getting a signal from your home network.
If that doesn't work then come back to #4 again and repeat choose automatically again and that might just do the trick.
It's not a exact science just something I have used over the years to tame the beast (not with this phone)
If no difference then it might just be the SIM card.
Do the steps in the order listed.
Check apns
So far trying that hasn't changed anything for me... still displaying no service.
APN has nothing to do with actual call/sms services. My data/LTE works fine too.

Help!! I just got the phone and i have 2 AT&T SIM cards installed only the sim that i select as preferred data sim gets data service. Second sim card only receives 2g cellular service. which is ok other than the following 2 things. MMS messages need data service to work correctly and 2g cellular service is horrible in my building at work. I have tried manually selecting network but only available option for secondary sim is 2g. also tried manually setting up a new APN but didn't seem to change anything. my data connectivity and cellular reception flip when changing preferred data sim . so i know its not a sim card issue
I am not rooted

Do you have the option to set the preferred network type for both SIM cards separately?
It's under Settings > More (Under Wireless & networks) > Cellular network settings > Preferred Network Type
I only use 1 SIM so I can't see what additional options are available when you use two.

No preferred type is for both i have it selected to 4g/3g/2g i can select the network operators independently. once i search for network one sim gets 4/3/2g options and the second only get 2g as an option. AT&T and Tmobile are showing up
Hmm wish I knew more about this to help you out but I don't have any experience with running two SIM cards in a phone.
Have you used both of these SIM cards in another phone before and had them both work as intended simultaneously?
It could just be a limitation of the phone, maybe it can't have two separate 4G connections at once on the same network?
I'm just throwing ideas out there.

Well I am having a similar issue, I have a bell sim I would like to run as 2g and a koodo sim I would like to be the full 4g. The phone refuses dual active, only card selected for data connection functions; I can choose either, but only one functions at a time except for a couple minutes after switching via dual sim settings
---edit---
I forgot to mention, it activates during a call as well

The phone specs say it can only connect to a LTE/3G network on one SIM at only one time. The secondary SIM can only connect to 2G-GSM.

Given the phone specs. Your connection problem is caused by neither Telus(Koodo) or Bell have a 2G network. Yeah so the phone is pretty much useless to Canadians if you want Bell/Telus/Wind/Videotron on the secondary SIM.
I have used my phone (same model) with two SIM's (ATT and T-Mobile). You can enable data only on a device at a time, but it can be on any of the two SIM's. This is mentioned in the phone specs.
http://www.asus.com/us/Phone/ZenFone-2-Laser-ZE551KL/specifications/
Scroll down to the end note.
Other phones cannot even activate the 4G on the secondary SIM.
It's a little confusing maybe to switch the data, but it can be done - from Android settings.
Ahh, well its still a sweet phone; manually switching isn't a big deal

I've been a T-Mobile customer with my OnePlus 1, got the OnePlus 5 today and went by the local T-Mobile store and got a new SIM card. A couple hours later I got around to actually setting up my phone. I realized I wasn't getting app verification codes, so I called T-Mobile to make sure the SIM card activated properly. She had me confirm the SIM card was inserted properly, then she had me turn the phone off and she "sent it a signal." That got text and data working, but still no go on the phone. She transferred me to the next tier up tech support. On the phone with them, we turned off WiFi, WiFi calling preferred, VoLTE, and automatic selection for Network operators. The phone did it's search and we selected T-Mobile 4G for the Network operator. The phone says it registered on the network, but T-Mobile says it didn't. We tried the second SIM slot but no change. We did a couple reboots and still a no go. I was then told that since it's not a T-Mobile branded phone, they can't guarantee that it will work. They recommend I put the SIM in a T-Mobile phone to confirm that the SIM works - I'll do that when I get home and try it in my wife's phone.
When I turn on VoLTE, I get text and can make calls, otherwise if I make a call, it just calls T-Mobile.
Under Settings > About phone > Status > SIM status, Cellular network state shows disconnected.
I also see under Settings > SIM & network > SIM 1 > SIM name it shows the name as T-Mobile but Carrier says Unknown
Fresh out of the box, running 4.5.3. Has anyone else had any problems getting their OnePlus 5 to register on T-Mobile? I searched the T-Mobile support site but didn't find anything helpful.
I'll try the SIM card in the wife's T-Mobile S7 when I get home, but if anyone has any pointers, I'd appreciate the help.

Same here. I also have 0 issues
Are you using the latest 4.5.4 update for OP5? They had fixes for VoLTE not connecting. Even though I think that was Europe only thing, the download made its way to my phone automatically. If you're not on 4.5.4, go upgrade (it's a simple thing to do)
What are your APNs set to?
Goto...
Settings
Sim and network
Sim x (1 or 2, wherever the sim is installed)
Access point names
Without doing anything besides entering my sim card into the phone and starting it, I have 4 options
If you have anything outside of your current provider, add them. The easiest way to do this is to open up another TMobile phone you have, goto to the same location on that phone and copy settings manually to your OP5.
I did this for my wife's S7 coming from Verizon. Although she doesn't get WiFi calling without flashing firmware (which I'll be doing when she's ready) you shouldn't have that issue.
Bad SIM card
Turns out the SIM card was bad. Went to the T-Mobile store, let the guy double check everything, then he grabbed a new SIM card, popped it in and two minutes later everything was working. I asked him how often he sees bad SIM cards, he said one or two a year.
