This should put its release right around the release of the Galaxy S6 and maybe HTC one M9. What do y'all think of this?
I think what could they POSSIBLY be doing that requires them to release it this long after other carriers? Does it take that long to test if bloatware works on it? Are they just trolling? Or are they fighting back and forth with Google trying to get permission to lock down the bootloader like a chastity belt?
i am pissed at vzw .. i waited patiently for this day. and no release.
i may wait till march 12th. but if they don't release it then i am off to tmobile
I'm trying to decide if I want to wait. I unfortunately am stuck on the edge up program. I really want the nexus 6 though but not if VZW has ruined (like they usually do). And I fear that they are ruining it right now.

my other line is my brothers lg g3 that he got in september of last year. so he is still paying it off.
question 1.. will t mobile pay my early termination fees if i decide to switch.
question 2.. will my brother be forced to pay off the remaining balance of his phone? or does t mobile pay that too if he transfers his phone to t-mobile?

Wouldn't it be easier to ask T-Mobile directly?
Try their free test run first before you switch. I tried them and while their corporate customer service was flat out amazing, the signal was terrible anywhere but large cities and the WiFi calling was a joke, literally had the 56k dial tone pop up during conversations...

thanks that is a great idea. i live in central NJ so far i am seeing good things about the coverage in my area. and towards NY.
i will try the free test drive thing and see if it is a good fit for me.
it looks like they will pay the termination fees. and according to their site they will give my bro 130 dollars for his phone as a trade in.
maybe he would have better luck on swappa or ebay.
but it will cut my bill from 700 minutes of phone (old plan i never updated) and 2 gb of data each for 180 a month from verzon to unlimited phone text and data from t-mobile for 129 a month which includes the financing for the nexus 6.

I hear this may be due to VoLTE implementation for the N6. Does that mean that if I bought the Motorola/Google Play version that I'm out of luck with VoLTE?

Google no longer allows carriers to preinstall their own apps on Nexus phones. Lollipop has a new feature that checks to see which carrier's sim card is in the phone. Then it downloads the so-called bloatware to the phone during initial setup just like Nokia's carrier branded Windows Phones do. I am curious though. Google previously said that Nexus 6 phones bought from the Google Play store would work on any of the big four USA carriers. Is this still true? Can I take an unlocked Sprint Nexus 6 phone (if unlocking is even required) and pop in a Verizon sim card?
One note of interest no one has mentioned. I read that it will be 5.1 out of the box. Could this possibly mean that we will see 5.1 before the March Verizon release date?

Thats incorrect google is allowing carriers to install apps but need to be able to be removed. Check the att thread out.
If u buy a carrier branded device like the nexus 6 from att unless that is paid off the phone is sim locked. Also depends on if the devices are sim locked. As of right now i know that the att is sim locked till the device is paid out of contract or bought paid in full. then u can request a key. All nexus 6 OS firmware are the same. Its a universal software. Just added bloat per company will be added for updates.
Edit: Also google even stated that now updates wont come as fast for carrier devices pending partners.

I honestly dont think it will be released out of the box. I think the phones will come with 5.0 and then you can update to 5.1. Also there is rumors verizon may not allow these devices on edge.

Source of this rumor? I'm not aware of any device they carry that isn't available on Edge. Not sure why this would be any exception.

its all he said she said on xda. Check in this thread or a few other verizon threads for the nexus. Some think verizon wont and some say verizon will. We actually wont know till the 12th.
Edit: I had a few verizon reps straight out tell me they look down at the rooting/flashing community because they claim it hurts their network. Thats why tmobile is so popular. If they do not allow nexus 6 on edge that would force customers to either pay full or sign a contract. I am not saying its true or not. Just from observation on here.

LOL randoms on XDA are hardly a reliable source of info. There's been everything from "Verizon will never get the device" to "Verizon will lock it down, put 50 logos on it, and rename it something else". It's people guessing, making things up, and hating on Verizon because that's the cool thing to do.

There is still a big chance and possibility since verizon looks down to the community here that they could do that. Verizon doesnt like google. They like samsung and apple. They careless about everything else and what the customers want. Makes you think that how come verizon allows the use of developer devices on their network for limited phones. Mostly samsung. Verizon is always out to make more money. I again am not saying they will not allow it on edge, but it still can be a possibility coming from the fact that its unlockable and cant be altered too much by them.
Edit: Also never stated they were reliable. Just stating from how verizon is and what people think. Anything can be possible with how verizon will take this phone.

Google has never made such a comment publicly regarding carrier bloatware and software updates. There's nothing to prevent someone from flashing a factory image designed for Google Play store devices to a Verizon Nexus 6 either, for example. They have, however, stated that Nexus 6 phones always come with no bloatware installed. The bloatware is downloaded during initial setup depending on which carrier's sim card is installed. The main question I have though is if I buy a Nexus 6 from the Google Play store can I pop in a Verizon sim card and have it work on Verizon's network?
Hurts their network? doubt that, because they allow dev editions to function on said network.
If it truly hurt, then none of them would be allowed, it's a $$$ thing.

I just spoke with an awesome and knowledgeable rep from Google over the phone. He told me without a doubt that the N6 OUT OF THE BOX will work on Verizon. There will NOT be a special model made for Verizon and that there is TWO Models, A US & International Model THAT'S IT. He said anyone who buys from the Play Store can simply pop in their SIM and the phone will do the rest. He also stated if you need more confirmation, Just visit http://www.google.com/nexus/6/ and scroll the the bottom right and there you will see Verizon Wireless.
Some of us already knew this including myself, But i realize some of you are nervous about spending all your money just for the phone not to work. You are good to go!

Im one of the many americans who live nearly paycheck to paycheck and cant afford to pay 649 for a phone off contract, sure id love to just not feasible in my current situation. 199 on contract is perfect for me because i can sell my galaxy s4 for around that and not have to pay any "out of pocket" i know in the end im paying more but this is just easier for me, than dropping 649 all at once. With that being said im gonna start saving for it and if verzion decides to delay that long i will purchase from google.
seems like tmobile is the only carrier i can see offering this on the home screen of their site.

This does not answer the question that MOST people need answered....... We don't care if the play store version will work on Verizon......most people aren't buying the play store version outright.... We need to know if the Verizon version will be locked down..... Just because it's the same hardware doesn't mean that Verizon doesn't get Motorola to flash their own version of firmware that locks out the ability to unlock the bootloader!

You're actually saving money by buying a phone on contract if you are going to use it on Verizon. The only way you save money is paying full retail and then going with a cheaper pre-paid carrier.
Ive pestered verizon online and over the phone and can't get a straight answer if they will ever carry it. Im hoping we hear something offical. From a business standpoint I can see why they would delay it. But thats TERRIBLE for customers but verizon always gets the last word as seen in all previous situations. Im fine to wait until end of Novemeber but any longer I may switch carriers. Might even be some black Friday deals

I doubt it. Verizon's other high end phones have been GSM unlocked for the most part.
Verizon actually would take the least issue with selling a GSM unlocked device.
All of their LTE devices are sold GSM unlocked.
Because of the compatibility, this appears to be the first device they'll ever truly allow in a "bring your own device" fashion without pre-approving the IMEI in their database. It's good to see, and it makes sense with the push to sign customers up on Edge and the lack of contracts now.
Take it for what it's worth and with a hefty dose of salt, but someone claims to have spoken with their friend who's a network engineer and it sounds dodgy:

Sounds like while it may work right out of the box with an existing nano sim, you may be screwed without an existing activated nano sim. Furthermore, it sounds like the delayed release on Verizon (check out the individual page now which only mentions T-Mobile, AT&T, Sprint and US Cellular) may be because Verizon is trying to change the terms of the agreement and try to get software specific to them and they may pull a Nexus One and drop it entirely.
I'm a bit concerned that even if I can get it to work from the day my GPS version arrives, they can at any time decide to block it and I'll have a phone I can't use on Verizon. If they pull that ****, I'll probably just leave for AT&T anyway, but the risk is still there.
Until Verizon officially announces something or is selling the device, those of us with a play store or motorola.com phone we've purchased are taking a risk it may not work or may work for a while and then stop working. And if Verizon decides not to "play ball" then what happens with radio updates? If there are radio bugs, we're screwed because they'd have to go through Verizon for that wouldn't they?

Regarding the earlier point about whether Verizon will even carry the Nexus 6, I spent some time today at a local Verizon store looking at what my choices might be (like the Droid Turbo) if the Nexus 6 doesn't appear and asked specifically to the availability/timing of the Nexus 6 at Verizon. The manager wasn't aware of any date but did indicate they might not even carry it if the phone couldn't pass the Verizon testing and approval process. Not a answer that gives a great deal of hope but at least I didn't get the entire denial of any knowledge of status.

If vzw pulls a nexus one to htc incredible or black list imes why don't people organize and protest the fcc. Vzw is a carrier. We should have any device on their network as long as it's not harmful and they must prove harm case by case.

You would think someone would be in some deep **** if a bunch of us buy it for Verizon and then can't use it, especially when it says Verizon right on the Google play page and numerous of Google and Motorola employees confirming it works. I know were all tense about this but I really believe were all worrying to much. I know Verizons history as much as anyone so can't blame u but I say were gonna be alright.

There's nothing on Google Play store saying it works on Verizon BTW... Not sure where you saw that... Unfortunately VZW can carry or not carry any phone they want.

It is on the specs page as well as the device page (their logo) and was also mentioned on their blog or whatever. If it's all just to say it's /could/ work, then Google should honor returns well past the 14-day period because it sure as hell is misleading as hell.

I think we all knew this was possible, but I am confirming that my Nexus 6 that was purchased directly from Motorola is not white listed for activation on Sprint.
I am trying to work with Sprint for a solution, and I will update if I find anything new.
FYI, the device is a Cloud White 32gb.

Yeah, we already know that sprint white listed the phones and only activates one from GPS and their, but seeing that motorola its a manufacturer and not a carrier they should let you activate it. Keep us informed, hopefully they let you.
I received my 64GB blue version this morning from Moto. Ran into the same thing, even took it to a Sprint Corporate store. They told me I have to call motorola, I'm on the phone with Moto now.

I really try to stick up for Sprint most of the time.... but this is just brain dead stupid.

If Motorola doesn't get Sprint to about face on this fast, I'm demanding that they cancel my order whether they claim to be able to or not.
Claiming their phone can be purchased through them and activated anywhere only for it not to be is false advertising.
Yeah it is very frustrating. But I did finally speak to someone at Moto that understood so I'm hopeful it'll get straightened out. Though it sucks that it really in Sprint's hands to get resolved and I hope they don't take very long.

Yes. This is hopefully the same issue. If this was a big restriction then I'm not sure why they were willing to send all of us SIM cards for the device.

Are you trying to activate the phone with new service on Sprint or are you just not getting your current SIM to work?
With the Nexus 7 LTE, this happened last year at Verizon if you tried to add a new line. They didn't have the IMEIs in their system. But if you just slapped in a Verizon SIM, it worked just fine.

It is an existing line, but a new SIM (Old phone took a Micro SIM). It is my understanding that Sprint's system does not work that way, but I could be wrong.

there is a VZW customer that recieved his order from Moto today and it worked... so VZW customers are okay it seems.

um, what? this is a crappy carrier issue, not a manufacturer issue. it's not false advertising, it's Sprint being a sh*tty company. if anything, you should look at cancelling your sprint service.

So it sounds like the same problem we saw last year at Verizon. Sprint doesn't have the IMEIs yet so they can't activate the phone with a new SIM. I bet if you chopped down your micro to a nano SIM size, stuck it in, it would work. Might be worth a try since you are going to lose that SIM anyway.
obviously take this with a huge grain of salt, but just had a live chat with VZW rep to ask about the N6. I do this randomly just to see what kind of (non) answers I get.
However, this dude fired back with an exact date of February 26th. That date is on a Thursday, which is traditionally the day that Verizon launches new phones. Just struck me odd that he had such a specific answer, and went on to say that he had just recently been given the information.
Of course I've tried to live chat again three times since then, and each one of the reps said that they have no information about the N6 lol.

I was also informed today and "assured" by a verizon rep (via chat) that they would be getting the Nexus 6 on February 26. They also said that the Samsung Note Edge would be coming out January 8th. I guess that will be the first test of this reps information.
My money is on April 1st.

I can tell you with 100% certainty that the note edge will be released on january 8th for verizon...no word on the nexus 6 for sure but i have also heard february 26th
Eh, i am not going to believe any rep. As far as this goes, i worked for Tmobile and ATT customer support and we where never really told anything ahead of time from everyone else. We where told to keep customers either happy or holding on with the company. It has been a few years ago from that though, so i dont know if that policy has changed. :good:

obviously take this with a huge grain of salt, but just had a live chat with VZW rep to ask about the N6. I do this randomly just to see what kind of (non) answers I get.
However, this dude fired back with an exact date of February 26th. That date is on a Thursday, which is traditionally the day that Verizon launches new phones. Just struck me odd that he had such a specific answer, and went on to say that he had just recently been given the information.
Of course I've tried to live chat again three times since then, and each one of the reps said that they have no information about the N6 lol.

A poster on Reddit said he was told at a corporate store the same thing. The rep, after looking it up, said the computer was showing February 26th availability.
and i just asked and was told there is no scheduled release. thats pretty far ahead for a release date anyway.
i just asked two reps and i got nothing out of either one of them
I just want VoLTE already on my Nexus. No voice and data simultaneously is a bit annoying and per usual is probably because of Waiting for Verizon release their version.

I recently bought the Nexus 6 and is currently running on the Verizon Network. Originally, the local Verizon dealer refused to add the Nexus 6 phone to the network since it was not a "Verizon Phone". My philosophy is, "Never let a multi multi multi billion dollar tech company tell what they cant do". By saying this, I called the Verizon Tier 2 support and they were able to activate the phone from their location bought using the same simcard number that was used from my Note 2 phone. Now, after two days, I was booted off the Verizon network and was told via message that I need to sign back on the Verizon network. After a few days corresponding with tier 2 tech support, the reason for the booting off the system was i was using a new "nano simcard" which resulted in a new simcard number. Originally, they recommended that i find someone with a new Motorola phone and activate my simcard through their phone ( long story) and then re-transfer back to the new simcard for the Nexus 6 to work but that greatly avoided. As a result, my Nexus 6 is currently working without any problems . Lastly, they will have to submit a "DMD Form" to "register" your non-Verizon phone. Hope this helps.

That sounds like too much work and a big hassle just to stay with a carrier. Its reminiscent of when I had Verizon a few year ago.
I wonder if VZW will try to lock down the Nexus and if Google will let them.

Yes, that simple. I am with VZW. I had a Galaxy S3 with a Micro SIM. I picked up a punch on Amazon (I didn't trust trying to use scissors but many people have success with them) ( http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FW70ZF6/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ).
I got my N6, unlocked it, decrypted it, rooted it, transferred apps via Titanium Backup, and then punched the SIM and moved it from the GS3 to the N6. Booted up and it worked. Have not had any problems at all. *knock* *knock*
A Verizon nexus is NOT a nexus. Is just another fully OEM Verizon locked device.

If bought directly from Verizon.. Yes locked boot loader with modified software/firmware tampered trip counter and of course Verizon proprietary bloatware.
The online chat reps are the worst... If it is really true that VZW will carry it on 2/26 add another one to two months cause of supply issues + VZW tramp stamp time.

I found a temporary solution. I ported my number to AT&T. Thus far, coverage is fine, data speeds are disappointing only in the sense that where I am right now, I am getting less than the 8 Mbps Cricket would cap me at.* Cricket is apparently now owned by AT&T and now offers unlimited talk, text, and 20 GBs of LTE for $60.
My data worked upon activation.* It seemed my AT&T rep had to alter the IMEI associated with my prepaid account to get phone calls working.* Don't know if there will be any implications, but in the hour I have been with AT&T, some root apps (including Ultimate Dynamic Navbar, without which I have no Navbar) have force closed for the first time. Seems like coincidence but I guess not? This is happening regularly now, X many minutes after boot, and bluetooth is being disabled as well.
I hope that T-Mo gets this straightened out, unless AT&T really impresses me, I look forward to hopefully switching back to the $30 Wal-Mart 5 GB plan.

I work for T-Mobile and have also have the same issues with my Z3tc I, being a store manager, have limited resources available to me but i plan to submit a ticket in hopes of resolving this issue, it would help if i had multiple issues to report however. If you folks are willing to help me out with this (power in numbers as they say) i think we may have a chance of getting a fix, what i need from each of you is your T-mobile telephone number that you've been using your Z3TC on and i can submit this ticket. Any luck with the ticket you opened? You might consider posting the ticket number both here and in the t-mobile support forum so that anyone with the same issue can easily contact t-mobile and reference that ticket. As you said there is power in numbers!

Any update on this? My billing cycle started today and I think I got my internet pulled too. Called tech support and they said they don't know what the problem is. They said they elevated my ticket to a engineer and should hear back from them in 3 days. :crying:
just port the number to Metro its' the same network and just $10 more for unlimited you can always port the number back if t-mobile fix this issue.
Tweeted at Legere and Tmobile help and now I'm sitting on the phone with a tech rep. Let's see what happens. Seems like such an easy thing to switch and the irony is the paying customers and getting screwed and are jumping ship to pacify the freeloaders. I'm in love with huge phones and this is the First tablet with phone capabilities that plays nice with us carriers. I'm prepared to jump ship over this.
SO far she keeps insisting that it will work fine its it has the phone capabilities and i have the proper rate plan. She keeps putting me on hold....
There's someone who clocks into work 9-5 at t-mobile who can fix this issue with very little trouble, just have to locate that person.

So, The tech rep I just spoke to says that she can't open a ticket for me to send to the engineers until there's physically a problem. SO, I'm going to pick it up tomorrow and start the process. Anything happen with your ticket? Am I wasting my time?
I'm still waiting on a call back. Day 2 with no Internet. I told them to call me 24/7. I didn't bother calling today, but you can bet I will again tomorrow. Please, also get it elevated so that they realize this is not an isolated incident. I stopped by at&t today to ask about porting over my number. They said it would take 15 mins. About to jump ship and take my 5 lines on the account with me if I can't get the Internet to work again.

The question is, you can't buy this device from a good reputable store with a 14 day no questions asked return policy. Expansys, or Amazon (not fulfilled by amazon) and the place where I'm going to go to in Manhattan are all "you buy it you keep it".
So, should I even go buy this tomorrow... The only way they will submit a ticket is if I actually have the device with the issue but if it turns out no one will fix the problem... I dont want to be stuck with it..
I guess I could always switch carriers but I'm in a family plan where we split the bill each month and the payments on my note 4 are going to come due... Big mess... But maybe that's what I'll do.
Why not just switch to metro though? Why at&t? Metro the exact same coverage. Or so I've heard.
Maybe I'll take the time to check out metros coverage while I wait for the issue to be fixed. Although.. I wonder, people were already working on this 2 months ago,why should I have any impact at all.

I just read through a pretty depressing thread. I'm posting the OP's final depressing post after finally getting through to a tmo vp. You can read through the whole thread too if you like. Seems like the battle is lost at this point, it's over, i just have to decide in a few hours when the store opens if I want to leave tmo over this and go to metro... I've been really happy with tmo up until now...

After doing some research I got a hold of a couple of T-Mobile's executive e-mail addresses and typed in detail about what is happening here hoping someone would respond. Today I received a phone call from the office of the Vice president of T-Mobile. I had a detailed conversation about the problem. They said that our device, the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact Tablet LTE SGP621 should have never worked as phone with a data plan and T-Mobiles network should have recognized the device as a tablet and not allowed it to work as a phone with a data plan for the few months that it did right away. He also stated that T-Mobile up until I told him was unaware our device existed. He actually had to look up the device. He then went on to explain how the network didn't register the IMEI of the device right away that's why it worked on their network for those few months until the IMEI of the device was registered and classified on their network as a tablet. He didn't actually admit it was the free data for life program but if you understand how network protocols work I don't have to state the obvious. So the bottom line is that T-Mobile doesn't offer the service we are asking for on our devices. The way the network is structured it uses the IMEI number to determine the devices classification and then only allows approved services to be used on that particular device. So the rules on T-Mobiles network work says "Smart phones" are allowed to make phone calls, surf the web, send multimedia text messaging ect. and "Tablets" are only allowed to have a mobile data plan and are incapable of making phone calls. Our device is a phablet but there isn't a phablet classification on T-Mobiles network. Even though our devices will work, have worked, and can work the way we want, it is irrelevant due to the way the network protocols have been written. The industry is somewhat at fault here by not having a specific classification for a device like ours. It really should just be classified as a phone. The world I live in, if a device is capable of making phone calls its a phone end of story. Phones make phone calls, this is kid stuff. So there is no solution to our problem and there never will be one as of right now. So the device is useless in the US for what we bought it for. I would have never bought the LTE version if I knew this was the situation. The service I'm willing to pay for is not offered by any US carrier according to T-Mobile. I find the whole situation funny at this point. Look at it in this perspective, the hardware of our device is identical to the Sony Xperia Z3 that T-Mobile currently offers, the only difference is the size of the screen. and the IMEI number that says its a tablet. You can actually flash the Sony Xperia Z3 operating system onto our devices thats how Identical the hardware is. It's just the IMEI number that defines the devices classification. Overseas this isn't an issue. I'm hoping soon there will be a US carrier offering this service, the first company that does I'm switching to. I think I'm just going to cancel the line and use WiFi for now. I can't believe I spent close to $700 for this device and it's now basically the $400 WiFi version. I'm keeping my T-Mobile account because I'm grandfathered into a very good rate and I'm hoping they will eventually offer the service. but I know for a fact our devices will never work the way they did because of our devices classification. They would only be able to work if T-Mobile changed the networks protocols that classifies the device as either a phone or a tablet, as long as they have that protocol in place we are out of luck. I really don't see them ever getting rid of this classification/rule system on their network. So if they ever do offer a "Phablet" device with the service it will be on T-Mobile branded devices only because those devices will have an IMEI that classifies it as a "Smart phone" or by that time they will have added the new classification of "Phablet".. I just had a very long conversation with a tech support guy (i gave him all a bunch of different forum thread links to read through) he read everything I showed him and he understood fully. He transferred me w8th details to someone else who again took plenty of time to read through everything including internal T-mobile discussion. He's gonna call me back on Sunday. I left off with him that everyone is jumping ship because of this, including me, all to pacify some freeloaders.
Of course, I'm not delusional. after reading the above thread I realize he's probably gonna get back to me with a sorry, nothing we can do. That's why I'm going to a metro pcs store today to sign up. I'm not porting my number just yet, first I want to test metro and give tmo a little more time. Plus, I have a new note 4 (warranty issue replacing my current note 4) coming which I will then have to pay off when I port my number out so I'm gonna sell. And actually, I'm going to finally port my number to Google voice so I can always jump around and back to our tmo family plan if they ever fix this.
So, to recap, joining metro today with the tablet and if/when he comes back Sunday with nothing, I'm porting out to Google voice.
I'm so disappointed with tmo. I joined them in 2012 right before everything started getting exciting in 2013 and on and I have been increasingly more happy with them ever since...

I just came back from the cricket store. After writing my last post, I put my jacket on, and walked out, walked 6 blocks down, and had them port my number. So far so good. LTE speed is decent, and now I'm actually paying less! $35 a month. 2.5GB (which is enough for me, they had $45 for 5GB, maybe I'll upgrade next month) and unlimited talk and text. Not too shabby.
Dear T-Mobile. See how easy it was to "Un-carrier" you? I did it in less time, than it takes to do one load of laundry.
Nice hope it works for you. I need the unlimited data because I use North of 30gb a month... With I could go to cricket, but metros probably where I'll end up

Well, I'm now a happy metro pcs customer. Just started porting my tmo number to google voice and it'll work through the new metro number. Turns out, my eip on my note 4 doesnt come due at all. As long as there are still more lines on the account, i can just keep paying it off month by month. Of course I'm gonna sell it soon but still.
BTW, to anyone who had this issue with tmo, you can get through to the engineering department for technical support, forward them to the following link so they can read up on the problem and then you can get them to credit your bill for the data portion since february. The credited my account 60 bucks.. Not bad. I wish I could have stayed with t-mobile but what can ya do.
Again, to all you people holding out for this to change. Not gonna happen. Not a chance in hell. really. It's a tablet now and it's final. you're gonna all have to move on
Metro is working fine for me is $10 more for the unlimited data but I am happy at least to have this working don't hesitate guys

My concern is whether or not updates will come at the same pace on the T-Mobile version? I'm not familiar with the one plus brand as I've only had LG phones for years.
Do we know if the T-Mobile version will be custom os vs the stock phone? I really wanna buy on Thursday but I'm skeptical. I'm worried about buying it and being stuck with a locked down phone.
I know about the bootloader issue and understand that aspect.
In general OnePlus updates are a LOT better than LG, Samsung, etc. The OnePlus 6 even received the initial Android Pie Developer previews.
As for the bootloader unlock, I'd not fret too much on that. It's been confirmed that as soon as you pay off the device and it's been active for 40 days you can request it unlocked. (That means only the 280 portion if you do the trade in.)
Honestly, it's a win win in my opinion.
Agree on the bootloader. Do you think the updates will be same on the T-Mobile variant? In other words T-Mobile won't slow down one plus by creating an artificial delay?

Yes they will because it has to become "tmo certified". Small security updates won't be as bad
I think updates will be semi-timely. I believe OnePlus has only committed to Bi-monthly updates. However, they have committed to 2 years of major updates as well as 3 years of security updates. And as mentioned previously, the OnePlus 6 even got the Android P developer previews.
And with the tradein offer, 280 bucks is a steal. I'll pay mine off within a month of financing it, and then just request the unlock. From that point you can flash the global firmware if you so choose. A lot of people are making a stink over things, in my opinion, over nothing.

From the chats I had with T-Mobile reps, paying $280 doesn't mean you paid off the device as $300 credits will be completed only after 24 months . So you can't unlock the bootloader until 24 months if you pay $280... You can pay $580 to get the bootloader unlocked and keep getting the $300 credits...

I think that's a fair compromise.
1) Customer gets the phone unlocked (SIM & Bootloader,if desired) & gets a cheaper phone bill for 24 months.
2) T-Mobile doesn't lose any $$$ on the deal,but,this allows for you to use the phone elsewhere,or,leave T-Mobile altogether.
That kinda sucks...I almost want to purchase the phone from OnePlus. Not just because I can unlock the bootloader, but because system updates and opportunities at Beta versions of Android in the future.
Also, with T-Mobile you are going to have to pay taxes on the phone. While purchasing direct from OnePlus online, most buyers won't have to pay taxes.
There's always issues with these carriers! OnePlus direct for the win!

what people need to realize is that this is all done so the phone will work perfect with the T-Mobile network the current phone that is out right now does not work hundred percent it works only 75% of the time so everybody needs to just calm down and get the one that works the best for you when if you buy it from the company that makes it then you're going to know that it's only going to work 75% of the time versus 100% of the time on the network. That's why the T-Mobile variant is just a better choice. People need to be smart and listen to what OnePlus and T-Mobile are saying it's a great device and it's the same exactphone is what they would sell on their website the only difference is the antenna is built for T-Mobile

What he's trying to say is that the T-Mobile version has the 600 MHz spectrum/Band 71. The normal one does not have it.
But it's a stretch to say that without it, the phone would "work 75% of the time". You'd probably get 4G if you can't connect to the newest spectrum.

Actually, the unlocked version does have Band 71,as does the OP6, check OnePlus' website for yourself.

This is correct from what I know the 300 dollar credit is towards ur bill so long as you trade in an eligible device. It's independent of your EIP Balance.. When you do this the monthly payment for the device gets cut in half until u pay off the entire 580.. now if you do the trade in keep the 6t on the account for the first month...the 2nd month pay the remaining balance from the 580 you keep the bill credits till 300 is issued.. But u have paid the cost of the device.. Do not pay off the device during the first month or the credits will not be applied. Once u get to the 2nd month u can pay off the device keep your bill credits and request an unlock. Well 40 days on the network and u can request the unlock.

recent the T-Mobile variant is the great choice is because the antenna and software is built for their Network versus the antenna on the one sold on OnePlus. Com has a antenna that is meant to work with multiple Networks that antenna may think at times it is supposed to be on one network versus the next I tested this out because I have the OnePlus 6 and most of the time and tried to connect to multiple Networks and that makes it hard for the phone to stay connected to the network that you are actually on so in return the phone kept disconnecting from the advanced LTE network and not staying on that one and vice versa and low signal areas it was trying to connect to other networks that weren't even supposed to be connected to which makes it hard for you to even use the phone like a T-Mobile phone which does work without connecting to multiple Networks makes sense. So in return if you buy it from OnePlus it will not fully work with T-Mobile because of all these issues of it trying to connect to multiple Networks. I went to a place that had full service on LTE and my girlfriend's S9 plus connected perfectly to Tmobile cuz it was a T-Mobile variant but my oneplus6. No connection at all at the location because it's not a T-Mobile phone that's what the Reps would tell me and it was true because the same thing happened all over. I haven't bought a phone from T-Mobile in years. All I buy are unlocked sim non T-Mobile phones, and I never experienced any problems ever

I'm sorry but this is the biggest crock of s#!t I have ever read.
If anything of what you said was true please explain how my Google Pixel 3 XL works as good if not better than my T-Mobile LG v30, T-Mobile Note 9, or my iPhone XS Max I bought from T-Mobile.
A phone does not randomly tried to connect to multiple networks, in fact without a sim it won't connect to any network.
Do you work for T-Mobile or something and just trying to push the OnePlus they are selling?
I'm ordering one directly from OnePlus and picking one up from T-Mobile, once I have both I will gladly prove you wrong.
