It seems that Samsung stripped this functionality in their Lollipop update. Any mod/kernel to enable this feature?
Didn't even know it existed, how does it work?
Mini USB cable to audio device or headphones? Be a rare peripheral to be sure to be sure. best bet might be to grab the libraries from kit Kat source and experiment with logcat.

[email protected]: you must be a real audiophile or you have too much money!!
I doubt they removed USB audio as it is an official android 5 feature and Samsung really made a lot of noise about 0 latency audio apps on the Note 4 and they even showed it off on video.
I think in Android 5 USB audio is implemented differently and streamlined across all OEMs so your USB dac might need an update to work.

Here it is working on the note 4 with Lollipop (and other devices with Lollipop):

While I don't have a note 4 right now I do have a nexus 6 and 9 and one xepria z3 still on KitKat with USB audio enabled.
I use the app call djay 2 with their Reloop beatpad which is a mixing console with an audio DAC .
When I used it with the nexuses the audio came out of the mixer.
When I used it with the z3 and when I had the note 4 the audio did NOT come out of the mixer while both the latter devices are 4.4 with USB audio.
My take on this is that something changed in the way USB audio is being handled and that all DACs that worked in 4.4 will need to be updated to work with lollipop.
Also in the article I linked they do mention the note 4, not just the galaxy s5 and they also mentioned that some DACs worked while others didn't work on all devices.
They specifically mention the DAC they used worked with the note 4 I'm just not 100% their note 4 was on lollipop.
I asked several of my friends who updated their snapdragon UK Note 4 using the German rom. They all have USB Audio working.
I found this thread on a search
I have a Note 3 (Snapdragon) on 4.4 and Tab S (Exynos) on 4.4
both work/worked perfectly with my Fiio E17 DAC
updated the Tab S last night to Lollipop 5.02 - and my DAC no longer works - instead of locking to 48/16 - it locks at 96/24 and I either get absolutely nothing, or very bad static

Yes i also noticed that on the Tab S USB a audio is broken.
I could try USB app - but that would only work in that app right ?
most of my music (99%) is through Spotify etc
Tab S
4.4 - all apps ok with Fiio E17
5.02 - no go
5.02 - USB Audio player Pro Trial = ok - but obviously only good for local playback

can't verify it - but found a post on headfi with someone stating that they got Lollipop 5.0.2 + E17 DAC to work properly
so that doesn't explain - if using same USB implementation its not working on my Tab S

So this was a problem on my v10, too. Someone developed an app that enabled the DAC for all music apps, which was great. But ultimately, I think LG fixed the issue when they upgraded the v10 to Marshmallow.
So on my v20 I was not expecting this to be an issue...again. But I am not hearing ANY difference if listening to music through GPM with/without the DAC on. Is this just me, or can anyone else reproduce the problem?

IIRC, the quad DAC is programmed to only kick on for music above a certain quality level, otherwise it only uses one DAC. That said, Google Play Music streaming sounds infinitely better through wired headphones on this phone than it did on the Note 7. I used bluetooth headphones on the Note because it sounded better than the terrible headphone jack on that.
Yeah, I don't think it sounds BAD. I just don't think GPM sounds as good on the v20 as it did on the v10 when I had the DAC on.
I hear a difference between them so it must be working at least for me.

Do you hear a slight pause/skip/whatever when you flip the switch on and off?
I hope this isnt the case as I use GPM as my primary source of music. I also use the headphone jack and bluetooth the listen.
I hear a short pause and the sound changes. The volume gets louder and the bass has better feel to them.

Okay - I downloaded the "DAC fix for LGV10" from the V10 forums. It worked well for the V10, so why not? It works for the V20, too! The DAC is acting as I expected now for GPM. Hope this helps someone else. I'm going to add to the apps section, too.

I did some more testing. Some songs it wouldn't work on. So I am guessing not all songs are streaming at the same quality.

It's a mod which enables the earpiece speaker with any audio/ video giving the phone a "stereo" experience and your videos and songs will sound louder. Just think HTC dual speakers.

There is a uninstall.bat as well.

Hi,
I've came accross this thread : https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/soundmod-axon-7-dolby-atmos-t3412342,
And I would like to know if anyone succeded to flash, and launch the axon 7 stock atmos this on a los based rom ? I just find it way better than the atmos we get from A.R.I.S.E....
Use ARISE to set SE Linux to permissive and let it install viper4android, then flash dolby atmos or use the included dolby that comes with ARISE
I'm using the Dolby that comes with ARISE. Works with very little issues, plus you get V4a too.
It is slightly buggy, and doesn't always switch profiles (V4a), but not that hard to switch manually.
So far i've only managed to install the dolby atmos that come with ARISE. It's doing an okay job, but not as good as stock. It's ironic that you can't install the stock Axon7 atmos on the axon itself with a Los based rom, but that it seems to works on other phones...

There was a (flashable) audio fix a little over a week ago that fixed this (distortion and mono). There is just no "processing" with any kind of EQ now, so the sound is pretty flat and thin. If you flash something like V4a or this Dolby app, or both, it sounds really darn close to stock.

Audio channel swap in usb
Anyone with audio channel swapped over USB? I was using wireless headphone for 1 and a half months before and then switched to usb type c adapter. I noticed the left right channel swap first when playing COD mobile. Only over USB not on wireless. Anyone has this bug? I think it came on August security patch. Before that audio over USB worked fine. I have tried different adapters, problem still persists. l think it is similar to the bug that happened on OnePlus phones. I haven't gotten the sept update.
I have passed to Pixel Extended, much better than stock, all works very well.
You should think to change...

So far i don't find any bugs, except there's a glitch on the QS bar clock, that make it double whenever you swipe up/close the QS, it doesn't happen if you have a notification, but its never bother me bcs it hardly noticeable. And PEx also has a good battery backup, better than stock i think, the security update also updated regularly every month, and jasmine will get android 11 builds soon! I highly recommend you to flash this rom, it's so stable. (Sorry for my bad grammars).

Before that audio over USB worked fine. I have tried different adapters, problem still persists. l think it is similar to the bug that happened on OnePlus phones. I haven't gotten the sept update.

You mean only left audio channel in right headphone side?
Well guys.... GREAT NEWS!!!
There is ONE huge thing that got fixed with this update, 5ghz wifi!
Finally I get my 250+ Mbps over 5ghz, just like on Pie. Since android 10, I would get at most 150Mbps and the phone would lag a ton while doing the speedtest.net (app). Now it's fine.
Check yours to confirm
NEVERMIND: this behavior only lasted for a couple of minutes... Back to 130ish Mbps and lagging lol ?
Is it just me or we're getting better battery life with September update? I usually was plugin the phone between 20-40% in the evening, feels like since the last update it's more 50-70%... but as always with battery life, hard to tell, could just be some of my usage, or some apps that got updated and more efficient...

Just you, I think! I haven't noticed any improvement.
Not sure if it's a new issue which got introduced by the latest update. But sometimes i have the problem that I cannot turn on bluetooth, it i click on the button it shows "turn on bluetooth.." but it doesn't.
Now i experienced it the other way around, i can't turn off bluetooth, it's not even possible to unpair my headphones.

i have the same problem with my mi a2 too... i didnt realize about the usb problem at first because i rarely use it for files transfer and the last time i plug it into my pc was before the september update.
i'm skeptical about custom rom base on my previous experience. can PE run banking and e-wallet app?
