I really did wonder about those SSavers, & now I know... - Fire TV General

I Really wondered where Amazon got there screensaver images from..... and now I know.....
I managed to locate the stock images that are poured down into the FTV, all 350mb plus of them.... It seems they come from a few different places... one in particular is a UK based company called, Travel Pix Ltd..... and many more come from here: http://www.cokoart.com/Shop-Art/?&search=sara winter&st=1
One of the screensaver images is by a photographer called Sara Winter,... and if you go to that page and scroll down you can see her image called "Rainforest Waterfalls",.. View attachment 00000000-7421-171e-0000-00006273cbd9.0.jpg.7z
It's priced at $22, .... as I'm from the UK that comes to about £50 +.... (no, honestly, it really does)... I'm just curious if Sara knows her images are being flushed down the pipes of many ATV users.....
Many thanks to nyder for posting them.
here's nyders link if anyone is interested...

Barcode scanner & price checker

The android app, CompareAnywhere, will use your phone's camera to read a barcode on any item you may find in a store, then does a price comparison on other retail stores or online stores.
Is there any WM6.1 apps out there that does this too?
hmmm...
i was wondering the same thing after i saw the commercial, and did some research on the dream. that would be a cool app for my vogue. im going to do some more research to see if we can make it happen.
i have someting like that for the vouge
what exactly is it that u have? wat does it allow u to do?
do a search for iNigma reader
Never mind I attached it for you...
that app doesn't do anything but download other programs if they have a barcode.... unless I'm doing something wrong

This only scans 2D bar codes (sema codes). The bar code on products are all 1D.
Thanks anyway...
this would be a great app and i've been looking for something like it too. found one close, but you have to enter upc manually. google can already do that. good luck!
I might be interested in writing an application like this for Java micro edition. I thought about doing something like this for Android but was discouraged when I found that there was already someone doing it.
If I wrote this, I would develop it in such a way that it could be run on any J2ME compliant device.
Who'd be interested if it were offered free of cost?
Who'd be interested if it were not free?

Right, but this is just another Android App similar to CompareAnywhere, which at this time we can't use as the camera functionality is not working yet

i would be interested in this for touch. i dont know much about programming so i would not be able to help but you could develop this and beta test then prob make some money as donations for freeware or as shareware. good luck.

Not quite... scanlife appears to only support 2D codes (semacode, EZcode, etc), and it just simply takes you to the web site that this code contains (provided that it is indeed a web site).
What I'm looking for is a scanner for 1D barcodes, encoded in UPC-A (vertical lines with numbers at the bottom).
I want something that takes these UPC barcodes and have the program automatically search Amazon or other online retailers for price comparisons. So if I go to a local Best Buy and see a router on sale, I can simply scan the barcode at the back, and see if there's another online retailer that have it for cheaper.
So far, I only see Android with this capability (they have 2 apps that does this actually).
Thanks for keeping an eye out though.
1D Barcode Lookup
I have this running on my Touch Pro and it's been pretty accurate with the barcodes of the things on my desk (kleenex box, empty coffee can). I haven't tried it "in the field" yet.

TouchPro has 3.2 megapixel AF
Vogue has a 2.0MP (no info on AF, but I think it is fixed focus...)
I could not get barcodes recognized with barcorama, however I only tried with one UPC sticker and not under the best light conditions.
If anyone else gets it work, let us know
Hey xDarKnighTx,
Microsoft worked on that concept a while ago and stopped further development.
Just google "AURA" with the words barcode.
I don't know much more about it, although some discussions relating to AURA seem promising.
Cheers
I'm extremely interested free or not!

anyone know where to find the original Atrix site?

When I was originally looking to buy the atrix (before it was released) I looked at a website that was all flash that had a grid in the background which you could click on pictures of different user types and see usage scenarios. I haven't been able to find it since. Did motorola take it down when it was launched? Does anyone know a link to it?
I know exactly which site you mean. It came up on google first. But if I do google now it looks like the site on the German page.. I always thought it would go the other way round
http://www.motorola.com/Consumers/U...d-Services/Mobile-Phones/Motorola-ATRIX-US-EN
This is what used to be the site you are referring to (I think ). It's a little bit different than before.

Looks totally different. The old site had some video of a girl using the lapdock then getting up and taking a picture with the phone all the while talking on it via bluetooth. It had lots of other example videos as well embedded in the background. This new site has lots of info but lacks the quick looks at video usage scenarios that I wanted to show people
I think you are talking about the Atrix page at the AT&T site.

[Q] New to XOOM and a few questions

Hi all
I am getting to like my XOOM now but am experiencing a few issues and hope someone can help me out with some info.
First and foremost ... do we have any communications from moto or google regarding time line for an update? In particular for the sd card and also far more generally for the whole honeycomb experience.
Next, the ebay app, the market tells me it isn't available in my region (uk) in the same way the bbc iplayer app does. I know the bbc one isn't available yet but am struggling tto confirm if that if the case for the ebay app.
I have seen a few screenshots that seem to suggest that the market can be filtered for tablet app? I cant see how ... perhaps I imagined this feature?
Some of the time I am finding the overall responsiveness pretty poor and I can't ally work out why. Anyone else getting similar issues?
Lastly ... in writing this post I have made afew typos and correcting them has been a nightmare with the text selector arrow and the cursor getting misaligned ... normal or just me?
Thanks for any info
Last I did read some news about SD card update, it said that the update is imminent, no idea what this actually means.
About your last question, yes this happens to me also.
Sorry, I can't help you with the other questions.
As far as the Sd card update I have asked that question on the moto forum and all i ever get back is that they are drafting an official response about the card, but that was about two weeks ago that they said that. Guess it takes two weeks to put out a response about a SD card that devs here already got working. Of course no one knows whether it is Googles fault for not releasing the source or Moto's for not telling us what is going on. I would count on getting it working maybe when the 4gLTE upgrade is rolling out.
As far as the market I have no idea sorry.

Next thing ... while awaiting any more concrete answers to the other stuff ...
The "darkness " of honeycomb and android generally is all well and good as a differentiating design feature compared to iOS but really I think a "light " theme would go a long way to improving the overall feel. I guess though that is something only root and a few tweaks will offer? I don't get it, before phones got "smart " a big thing was the ability to theme them but now there is next to no flexibility :-(
Also noticing a lot of widget lag when waking the device ... and I have 2 mail widgets as I have to gmail accounts ... at least one of them spends a lot of time "empty " awaiting an update, is this also standard for other users?
Thanks again

Edit ... any tango users? Getting upside down video between iPad2 and my XOOM? Can't find a setting ... affects both front and rear camera?

Have no idea how to add integrated video to the app

Hi Guys,
I've been planning to create an app and so far everything is going to plan. Everything has been designed very nicely by one of my friend who is the charge of the design of the app. The four of us are just stuck on the idea on how to have integrated/built-in videos to the app. so when people play them they wont open up on a on a browser and can be viewed offline if need be. Just so everyone is aware we have only been thinking about this for the past few weeks, and have been from that point till today been just designing, how its gonna look, where all the bottoms are gonna be, the layout and how we organize everything.
The problems is that i have researched so much online that its unbelievable and i still can't find anything anywhere like its impossible to do this. If someone can point me in the right direction I would be really thankful.
Have a look at this: http://www.edumobile.org/android/android-beginner-tutorials/how-to-play-a-video-file/

Have a look at VideoView and MediaPlayer, they'll give you the functionality you need.
Their performance on versions of Android < 4 varies quite considerably (particularly once you start adding them to complex layouts), so if you can steer clear of those versions I'd advise you to do so.

Goodbye Mashup!

Just got the final update and goodbye message from Mashup on my unit.... It is now officially gone for personal liability reasons as best as I can understand the message. That was my favorite App! I hope someone resurrects something very similar to it... RIP Mashup.... Sure loved that app!
On the other hand Popcorn-Time.... ( the one that's always worked and still does) just released and android apk for the program. Just installed it and although I haven't created a shortcut for it yet...( I have to run in form the applications section...where Llama is located) it is working great and has a beautiful layout for all the movies. You need a keyboard to make selections, but the films load quickly and play very well...)
I don't know if I can post links.....Mods please remove this if I can't, but it can be found here... https://popcorn-time.se/
Therr are still plenty of good alternatives. Be careful with popcorn time as it uses public trackers i believe. Always use it with a VPN or proxy.
bad news indeed
Not happy as only just bought my box and mashup seemed a really good source. Not least for the Thunder Cats episodes that where I there haha....awesome classic cartoon. I hope this doesn't start a trend in goodbyes as at a glance before istream not showing any kinda links either ?

Genesis seems to be a decent alternative....and as far as Popcorn goes.... I agree. The best feature they have though is that when you play a movie it is stored in a temp folder and as soon as you close the program the temp folder is deleted so no traces are left for tracking. I would think that with as many end users as there are, more emphasis would be placed on stopping the source rather than end users. DTV went after end users years ago and were successful in scaring many people into paying up to several thousand dollars, having to subscribe to their top tier of service for 2 years and signing a waiver allowing them to come into your home unannounced at any time to check for unsubscribed devices. Those who actually got a lawyer to answer them went untouched since DTV had bigger fish to fry and were getting multitudes of uninformed people to go along with their scam. End users will be the last to go after as it requires more time and effort as well as money to try to make money from it. They'll try to shut down the source and if it's kept anyplace that the new millennium act has no jurisdiction over they'll be safe. I understand it's in Bulgaria, but could be wrong about that. Zona is another program hosted in Russia that is much like popcorn except that you have the choice of downloading or watching, or both. Sometimes the connections are not the best, but it's an excellent source.
A little sad to see MashUp go, but I honestly stopped using it and something else will fill its spot. I understand that HackerMils is already working on something. I'm a little leery of posting the better alternatives I use as I imagine the internet police probably find their targets from keyword searches.
You can still use it. Someone made a fix for Mashup. Worked perfectly for me. I should also add, there is a link to the download on the youtube page. The errors looks to have been fixed as well. At least I'm not getting the error anymore.
MashUp fix
I got this from h**p://www dot husham dot com however the site is running real slow so I just copied his info to post here. You need to download the patched MashUp zip file and manually add it to XBMC.
once done your MashUp will work, however it will show a error saying it can't url something but that is because the Patch is blocking it from updating and deleting itself.
It still will work as it was before the error just pops up in the bottom corner and then goes away.
the link is to Mega share, enjoy.
Mashup Fix – Not replacement – (November 2014) XBMC and KODI
This is a small Steps to install Fix Mashup on your XBMC / Kodi after the empire of Mashup had fallen.
Thanks to my good friend Jessica who has sent me the link to download it, I have uploaded it to a different location in Mega with less adverts

good find.. but i think its not going to matter.. someone needs to keep mashup updated or its not going to work well for very long.
Guys it is sad to see mashup go. But they are currently working on a replacement. Follow hackermil on twitter as he and his people are teaming up to bring out an epic addon
Most of the links don't work when i tried.. cant play any of the movies/tv shows etc. So what really is working does anyone know ?
Fingers crossed for an alternative soon.
