[Q] Forward phone notifications

Is there an app that will forward my text notifications from my Droid X to my Xoom?
Use Google Voice? I intend on doing it that way by just installing the app.
You can't install Google Voice on Xoom yet as far as I can tell. It doesn't show up in the market app and the webstore says the Xoom isn't compatible.
Like the guy above me said, I'm out of luck with Google Voice. I was thinking of something else though.
I know there are a few applications that backup text messages to an email address. Would creating a separate email address (so my phone wouldn't get the notifications) and automatically backing up incoming messages to the new email address be a ghetto workaround? You could add the 2nd email address to the tablet and turn off the forwarding on the phone at any given time.
The reason for the ambiguous "is this a question or an explanation" tone here is that my Droid X apparently has bugs with every application that I wanted to try this out with. I'm going to check out the Droid X forums, but I thought I would bring it up here.
Yep, it's a free app and it works great - Remote Web Desktop

[Q] Text messaging with non android number

Hi, my phone isnt android but my tablet obviously is. I'm in the military with orders to korea and want to keep in touch with everyone, but my phone is a cheap cricket flip phone. All the apps that allow things like this that i could find require me to install the app on my tablet and phone, which obviously wont work. Is there an app (free or paid, i dont care which) that will let me plug in my phone number and send texts from it on my tablet? Skype's text rates are ridiculous, gtalk is great but i can only communicate with other gtalk users, facebook messenger will only be instant for people with smart phones or data plans, etc. A text app will allow me to text everyone that doesnt have a smart phone as well as those that do, and not have to hope they are at their computer to reply. Thanks for any help you guys can give me.
Have you tried using Google Voice app on your tablet? I have used it with mine and I was able to send/receive text messages using the Google Voice number I chose. I was connected to wifi when I did this.
i have google voice from before i canceled my smart phone plan, i love how it transcribes my voice mails. I dont see a send text option though, even with my new cricket number in it. All i have is an inbox, settings, labels, balance, search and refresh, and the inbox just seems to be call logs and voicemail transcribes. If you can tell me how to set up texting with it i will be quite grateful.
Edit- okay text is under labels, but i cant figure out how to send one.

Download the google voice app on your tablet, and from there you press "compose" and than just type in the number (or select a contact) and txt away .
I to have cricket .. Google voice works .. as described above.. Also two more..
PALTALK VIDEO chat has a new sms feature.. I have not used it as its brand new..
YAHOO MESSENGER NOW HAS A SIMILAR Feature. and does video chat..
Yahoo messanger for the tablet is now compatable with Crickets sms service.. IT USED to not work..
i would check them out in the order i mentioned above I do use google voice and PALTALK .. the paltalk you get from www.paltalk.com
Good Luck and STAY SAVE OVER THERE... i hear its not much better then the middle east. one of my best Girl Friends just returned from EAU .. she says they treat women over there as if they are a Possession.. i would be hung because im very independent
I have the Zio cell phone It works well well for what it is .. I love the NO contract and i get awesome signal here.. I also have a at&t cell for work and my cricket is better service ..
Something must not be compatible with my rom because there is no compose option in voice and in settings the google voice number is greyed out and i cant select it. I'll look at yahoo messenger since i have it installed and hopefully that works. Thank you both for your help.
Edit- the website for google voice has more options than the app. I thought my voicemail number i made was enough, but i made a new number thst works with texting after signing out of the app then signing back in. Just one more question, since the texts show up as from the voice number amd not the cricket number, this means i dont have to pay for the cricket service when i leave, right? I can just use this free voice number to text? It seems too good to be true.
As far as i can remember your google Voice ..must have a telephone number to be linked to.. Rather or not its just for the initial setup verification im not sure .
i Use google voice number for things i register to keep text spam off my cell phone number.. Go to CRICKETUSER FORUMS Register and ask this same Question over there. EVERYTHING you ever need to know about CRICKET Wireless is on that forum..
Cricket now offers world wide text as well.. but im not sure if it from over there to us or just from us to over seas..
Thanks again for your help, i should have everything i need to adequately keep in touch with everyone now. Seems like its a free number that can route to my existing numbers, but wont require them(aside from activation) if i just want to use the tablet or a pc. so i can cancel my cricket service for the year im gone, thanks for helping me save money.

[Q] Googel Search(sending text)

when i ask google to send text to a contact it comes back and says no number saved...Im curious is this suppose to act this way

[Q] Hide SMS Callback Number

Has anyone figured out how to hide callback numbers on text messages? They only show up for some people that text me but unfortunately some of them text me quite a bit (family.) It's annoying because it shows up on every message and takes up a ton of space. I find displaying it irrelevant because I know what their number is, their name and picture are displayed at the top...
On my S3 I was able to make them not show by modifying csc/feature.xml but obviously I can't do that without root. I used to change <CscFeature_Message_EnableCBMessage> and <CscFeature_Message_CBMessage>. I've gone through every menu I can find in the text app and can't find anything.
I'm not talking about disabling my callback number, I know how to do that and it is. Also I've checked multiple of these friends/family member's phones and they either don't have an option to enable/disable or it's disabled. It's seems that they're normally Verizon users (that I know of) and it happens from smartphones and dumb phones. But it doesn't happen for everyone on Verizon.

You can only disable this with root access, which we don't have yet.

What exactly are you referring to here? Picture of said call back number?
You can have those people turn it off on their phones. I had to find that feature on my wife's phone and turn it off because I was getting the same thing. Every one of her texts had her number at the bottom till I turned it off on her phone. Other than that, you'll need root.

I'm quite possibly wrong about this but I believe that if you update to the most recent version of the "Phone" app there is now a setting which allows you to select a phone number which has called your phone and then choose to block the number in the future.

From what I saw on my Nexus 5X now running 7.0 (which I bought this summer after frustrations with my MotoX and lack of regular security and feature pack updates), it does appear the native phone dialer app in Nougat has the ability to flag calls to be blocked and/or "reported as spam" back to Google... With the MotoX on 6.0 today, however, unless you use Google Voice/Hangouts (and Google delivering the incoming call instead), I don't see how Google can block calls before they ring on your device today. That being said, Google is hopefully working on a solution (speculation on my part) to have the native phone app do a "spam check" when it receives and incoming call (even from a carrier) on the device before it treats the calls as legit and notifies you (rings)... In theory, if millions of Android users start reporting spam phone numbers, Google should have a decent database to check against. This is the concept behind apps like Truecaller in the PlaySTore, but BE CAREFUL with those: they require your consent to copy ALL your contacts into their cloud and add them as "safe" (real) callers for everyone!
The real problem with spam calls in the US today is the open nature of the SIP transport protocol implementations all carriers are now using in their networks... Caller Line ID info is spoofed on the fly (by the call originator) to appear to be coming from a legit area and exchange you make calls in/from. THIS is extremely difficult to defend against on a device by only being able to look at CLID to make a decision on allow/deny of call. If carriers spent more effort screening the calls being put on their network (i.e. ensuring the CLID is legit for the originating source IP), they could get a better handle on the current spam crisis IMHO...
Never needed to use an app before, so you can't do it with the phone itself?

Sorry, just noticed you aren't in the US... Not sure if the UK has the same spoofed CLID problem that we currently do over here... As the other poster also said, newer versions of the natuve phone app offer some protection against the same number ringing through a 2nd time (once you block it)... However, as long as the "bad guys" can keep changing the # they appear to be calling from EVERY time they call you, there really isn't any point in screening incoming calls based solely on the originating number...
My wife has hundreds of "blocked" callers listed in her iPhone yet she still gets (new) spam callers every day... Is anyone really shocked that scummy telemarketers have resorted to "SIP-hacking" to stay ahead of efforts to block their "real" number?

At the moment it's the same 2 numbers that I have to ignore , with my other phone you could turn the phone over to shut it up so wasn't a problem or add the number as a contact and block it but I can't do either with this phone

As long as the feature isn't removed by Lenovorola in the Nougat version the MotoX is announced to receive, you should very easily be able to do it right in the newer phone app I saw in 7.0...
