My wife loves our N10 but it obviously doesn't charge fast enough. She started playing with the mUSB plugged in and it still dies. I buy the "andbanyan" brand Pogo charger stand and it charges great for a while. My wife gets inpatient and starts to use it on her lap so she can keep playing CoC. Eventually, she comes to me that it is no longer charging. I checked the charger with DMM and it's getting voltage out. On pin 1 & 6, gnd; pin 2 & 5 to gnd, 150mV; pin 3 & 4, 5.15 V. I tried checking my pings on the connector socket on the N10 but got only infinite resistance. Did the socket it blow? Has anyone else had issues with this?

Did it completely stop to work? Maybe it just stopped because of overheating. My Nexus S did that when navigating. It got so hot that the charging circuit was interrupted. When back to normal temps everything was fine again.
Does it still charge on mUSB?
I cant believe you blew the pogo port.

It still charged USB. My wife happened notice that the casing was slightly split and that prevented the Pogo connector from charging. I thought that constant connect and disconnect would have created an arc, blowing the socket.
Thanks for the help!

If it's after a period of time maybe a battery contact issue?

If you've already read the sticky posts relating to car chargers and your (mystery brand) charger isn't one of those, then maybe your phones battery terminals and connectors need careful cleaning with a cotton bud moistened with contact cleaner or IPA. I had a problem with my mains charger ceasing to charge my TyTN II after a minute or two a long time ago and after cleaning as described, the problem went away. Be sure not to spray the contact cleaner or IPA onto the phone or battery, only the cotton bud/Q-tip and then gently rub that on the spring contacts and battery terminals. How does charging via mains adapter or PC USB port go?

It still could be a battery contact issue as voltages may differ slightly when using the car charger compared to the other forms of charging. As an example if the Kaiser is set to stop charging when the supply voltage drops below a certain value and the car chargers voltage is lower to start with (and fluctuates with normal driving/electrical usage) then that may explain things. It's well worth doing this cleaning every so often anyway as a matter of course so give it a try and see what happens.
Additionally, could heat be a factor eg if it's sitting on a hot dash or near heater vents (the device is designed to not recharge above certain temperatures)?

Thanks for the advice, i will give it a try
if you have any adapters that allow for another usb input, nice a headphone adapter, or the HTC Multifunction Audio Cable YC A300, a ycable or anything with a USB in, try that first.
if that doesn't work, take the unit into your retailer and they will give you a new (or refurbed) unit, as your USB port may have a pin or two out of whack.
This may be weird, but my tilt used to charge just fine from most USB chargers(car, AC, usb cords). One fine day it quit charging off most chargers except the official AC charger from AT&T. I tried to fiddle with the USB pins inside as one looked like it might be a bit bent/damaged. No luck.
However, yesterday I noticed that My Settings->System->Power->Advanced settings page had following option checked:
'When device is turned on, do not charge the battery when connected to the PC'.
Once I unchecked it, it started charging of PC USB cables (obviously), but strangely enough also charging from my car charger(s). Hope this works out for you or someone else...

It is probably because your normal USB pin 4 and 5 in the cable of your other chargers are not shorted to signal that there is no data connection. So your phone thinks it is connected to a PC (or a device which might send it data), hence not charging the battery according to that setting
I have a similar infuriating problem, i have had a MDA VArio III for over a year now, had an issue with my last one and had a replacement issued in October. Now i have used the Brodit active holder (ciggy lighter version) since day one over a year ago and wit the new MDA as well. now all of a sudden phone will not charge in the holder, borrowed a friends active cradle still no charge, used a no brand usb ciggy ligther charger and charges fine!!!!
When phoe n is placed in the holder orange charging light comes on but phone does not charge and the light goes out 5 mins later!!!
any ideas anyone???
thanks

Problem solved - Pin 5 on my phone was ever so slightly out of alignment, bent back into place and all is now well! strange it only affected the brodit holders, nothing else!
Car charger failure explained
I also experienced this same problem and actually broke my phones mini usb plug in frustration at lack of charging. Got it fixed again though
The reason for this problem has become apparent since my phone was repaired. In your car, like my car when the heater is switched on it will gradually heat up the cigarette lighter socket. My charger cable like yours has a thermal safety circuit built into it. So when the ciggy socket heats up the heat is transferred to the charger plug and breaks the elec charging circuit. You might see me driving around London with my charger plug hanging out of my window (to cool it down) on a Winter's day!!! Honk if you do.
The solution would be a cheaper charger without the thermal circuit built in. Go into Maplins or PC World and ask them for that..... They dont know what your talking about, because I have already tried.......! Good luck
You just need to make sure to enable your phone to charge when connected to PC.
Start->Setting->System->Power->
UN-CHECK the box that said "When device is turned on, DO NOT CHARGE the battery when connected to PC"
have anyone got issues with S2 when plugged into power?
ie when I start recharging direct from 240V adapter, my S2 started getting VERY laggy and slow.
It immediately goes back to normal response when I unplug power.
I have never problem like you

Try using an alternative charger...probably your mains charger or the usb connector on the charger is damaged.
I'm pretty sure its a issue with the s/w as I have used the charger on another phone without any issue.
unless its one of the apps I'm using, not sure how to narrow it down.
mtrax...
I have the same issue.
You´re not alone...LOL
FYI the common issue I have when plugged in is that its not easy to unlock screen, takes me a 2-3 swipes to unlock screen and after that it seems that it ignores every other key press..
Any one reported this to Samsung? I will try to log a ticket to see what happens.
Try do a multi touch test while its plugged in see if the screens acting funny.
how do I do a multi-touch test?
what will that prove? as the screen works fine when unplugged.
I have the same issue but only when charging with the usb lead (with usb power adapter) instead of the standard mains charger. Think it might have stopped now that debugging is enabled and the Samsung kies screen doesn't come up when i connect the usb.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
Took my phone 2 hours to charge from 36 % to 100 %
note this issue doesn't occur when charging via PC ONLY via 240V mains, but let me try with USB debugging on.
edit tried USB debbuging still has issue.
Note is the 240V USB cable different from a normal USB cable? ie perhaps the device thinks its a PC connection
the phone is laggy because of the electrical interference from a faulty charger or some other electrical equipment in the near vicinity...
Please note that actually the capacitive touchscreen becomes laggy not the applications/services...
keep it away from the electrical interference...use the samsung original charger..gud quality USB cable....and the issue will be gone... for sure
looks like its the charger, the A/C adapter I got with the phone was UK which is why I didn't use it to begin with, but tried the samsung one with a UK/AU adapter and its fine..
hmm who would have thought that was the issue...
interesting it didn't affect my other HTC phone.
Same issue here, but something special:
I ebayed another charger for my sgs2, original samsung one. Same serial number, same description, same style.. but i got the charging problem only with the new one.
With my original charger (the one, which was delivered with the phone) works fine. No slow and no lag.
The new one was about 5 euro, seems to be an original...
to demonstrate my point that its the electrical interference from the dodgy chargers onto the capacitive touchscreen... do this and report back...
plug the faulty charger onto the socket BUT DO NOT charge the phone with it...
keep the phone near to the charger wires etc....(not in charge)... you will see the screen lagging sometimes unresponsive...
now move the phone away ...it will work fine..
you can keep on using the dodgy chargers for charging...but use the phone only after it has been charged and is away from the charger...

I am not able to reproduce that with my original charger. There is no lag or any other problem. Switching to my second "original" (ebay 5 €uro) samsung charger leads me direct to the lag and your description. First i thought my second one is not an original one, but because of your description there seems to be a diffrent quality on the original charger depending on it production date.. unit.. charge.. or whatever.
I bought a sgs2 from the UK, and have a UK to AUS converter on the stock charger and I have no lag when it's charging or near chargers.
Sorry. Not a problem here. Writing now and plugged. Very responsive.

The electrical interference with the capacitive display is bullcrap since it needs electrical properties to respond. So it depends on whether your body has enough electrical properties.
So back to the point:
It is due to CPU reducing the clock speeds to prevent the phone from overheating as the battery itself produces enough heat anyway.
Many other people may not notice it since they may not perform intensive tasks while the phone is plugged in and the variation itself is also almost unnoticeable.
I have the same issue but as I said, it's almost unnoticeable to even bring it up in this forum. I haven't done any testing myself to prove this, but the same safety feature is implemented in most modern phones.
I have the same issue - I also had this issue with my Atrix.
Hello everyone. I just want to start off saying that this is NOT a question about USB charging. I know about the trickle charge/lack of voltage stipulations. This is about the factory A/C adapter and USB cord I got with my transformer.
About 80% of the time I plug in my tablet to the A/C adapter, literally nothing happens. The screen doesn't turn on while in sleep mode like normal, the battery in the bottom corner doesn't change to a little lightning bolt, and most disturbingly, my tablet will not charge. The weirdest part is that it connects to the computer through USB no problem. I can move files and such, but no charging. Any ideas?
the charger construction is marginal at best and may need to be wiggled to get a good connection. also the usb connector an be plugged into the charger incorrectly. remember the usb connectot on the supplied cord does not comply s
with the usb spec. Also chev
ch the country ac side adapter ther are also unreliable
My cable went screwy and now it only trickle charges, regardless of what it's plugged into. I've got an RMA for it, but since I have to send them the cable to get a replacement, I'll have a paperweight for a few days at least.
Are you sure yours isn't trickle charging? There wouldn't be a lightning bolt, but I does charge.....very slowly.
Unplug the AC adapter from the wall for about 20 minutes. Plug it back in. Plug in TF.
Charging now?
unplugging it for a while seems to work better than anything. I'm pretty sure there isn't any trickling going on.
You can also try using the charger for your phone if the plug is a USB type. There have been a lot of problems with these charges documented in other threads.
Unplugging it definitely isn't a solution for me. When it first started happening I could do that and after a little while it would start working properly again, but now, it has charged at normal rates in about 3 weeks. I'm going to send it in with the RMA, but I have no idea what the turn-around time is. I'm going to be without any way to charge for that time, which pisses me off just a little bit.
Had my first issue with charging. It hasn't been on the charger for 24hrs now, finally got down to 28% and decided to charge it up while I take a nap. Went to pull it off the charger and it was down to 17%.
I tried unplugging and plugging in, tried a different wall socket, same issue. Tried my PC, it would connect so I could see the tf101 storage but would not charge, not sure if its supposed to. I tried different 5v wall chargers hoping I would see some kind of a reaction, nothing. I went back to the stock wall charger, plugged everything in and it started to work. I know people have suggested freezing the wall charger, not sure if that's the issue or not since it started to charge. It almost sounds like maybe a sync cable issue bad pin connection. Your thoughts?

the common 5v usb wall charger will not charge the asus transformer, needs 11v irc
some earlier transformers had problems with their chargers, I don't know if this still happens. I had to return my first transformer because the charger packed up, That was in August and I have had no problems since.
if it happens again you could try taking off and reseating the bit with the country specific pins, as they have been known to come lose.
two posibilities
the wallwart uses a snap in male country adapter. sometimes the connection is intermittent and it will not charge. plugging in and out moves the contacts and makes it work.
other possibility the charger senses a gnd on pin7 of the USB connector to tell it to output 15v on the positive pin. if it does not see the gnd, it delivers 5v which will charge the TF in about a day if turned off.

I'll check to see if its snapped in properly.
Mine stopped charging and seemed to trip the temp safety sensor inside the charger. I popped it into a freezer bag and stuck it in the freezer for about a half an hour. Once removed from the freezer and bag, it started working again. I haven't had issues since.

How come sometimes I am using my transformer tf101 while it's being charged, instead of charging the battery gets used up???
On the TF try blowing hard on the connection port. Dust has been known to stop charging.

What you are actually doing is using your TF while it is plugged in. It is not charging. The battery discharges because it is not charging.
Could be one of several reasons Most likely three are ( in no particular order)
1. Over temp protection in wall wart has tripped ( unplug and stick in freezer for 20 mins
2. The male country adapter ( power prongs) is not making a good connection where it connects to the charger. Wiggle or unsnap and reinstall
3. Pin 7 on USB is not seeing a GND signal from TF causing powersupply to supply %v only instead of 15V. Clean /inspect connector on TF and corresponding plug. This will also occur if you use a USB extension cable that does not have all the connections for USB 3.0
So yesterday, my old car's voltage regulator went haywire, and blew the car's main fuses after a couple of seconds.
I was charging my N4 during this incident with a cigarette lighter thingy and was holding aprox. 10% batttery charge.
The N4 is now 100% unresponsive. No amount of pressing any key combination for any amount of time does anything at all.
I have also tried charging it with a generic USB charger for a couple of hours, to no effect.
After that, I tried charging it with my computer's USB3 port for a couple of hours. This warmed up the phone a bit on the back, so it seems the ingoing current is doing something in there.
I am not getting a red LED indicator as most other people seem to be getting.
i fear something important was simply fried inside the phone, but I don't want to give up yet!
- Does anyone have any ideas what else I could try out?
- Are there maybe some small fuses inside the N4 that might be burned due to the voltage spike? Could I maybe replace or bridge them?
- could replacing the battery maybe revive the phone? If so, how could I test if getting a replacement battery will be worth it? Maybe temporarily wiring a compatible voltage to board?

Cool! I must have missed that the USB charging stuff is on a seperate board when i stepped through the N4 teardown!
Do you know if wireless charging goes through this board, too, or would it be using a separate circuit - i.e. should I head over to a friend's and test if I get SOME reaction from the phone when wirelessly charging?
Also: what worries me is that, as i mentioned, the phone's back is getting quite warm when charging it via USB3, so I am afraid that the charge is actually getting to the battery (vs. being stopped at a burnt fuse)
