Would really appreciate if someone helped me with a small problem.
I flashed new rom 1 week ago and now I am not able to create any backups with recovery. prior to this everything was working fine. Can you suggest some solutions please.
ERROR MSG - Cant mount backup path.
if i try to install zip from sd card it says - E: Cant mount path.
I was using 4.3 from samsung then i have only used custom roms and never updated the baseband, kernal or bootloader, just installed new roms.
I am attaching the logs created and other basic information.
Would request you to help me out with this one.

As i saw it cant get the external sd card info, so try changing it or mount it manually from mount and storage, or flash a custom recovery again
And the unknown baseband happens too when flashing roms

Hello All,
hoping your tolerance for newbs to the K1 world hasn't been exhausted yet. I am so much more familiar with doing this on my HP Touchpad side.
I am currently running on my dad's K1:
Build date Thu Aug 9 15:13:28 EDT 2012
Build # cm_k1-userdebug 4.0.4 IMM76L eng.administrator.20120809.151251 test-keys
(from cm-9-20120809-UNOFFICIAL-k1.zip)
I haven't had any luck using ADB from the computer, but I can NVFLASH and I can get into recovery via Rom Manager.
I downloaded CWM_K1_ICS_AOSP_Rooted_R2.zip with the intent of flashing it, but it does not show up as a flashable rom from recovery. It is in the exact same directory as the cm-9-20120809-UNOFFICIAL-k1.zip file which does show up so it isn't a matter of being in the wrong directory anything like that.
I'm not sure why the file is not showing up.
When I go to Rom Manager to "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery" - I get prompted with "Confirm Phone Model" and Asus:Transformer is listed. I thought this build already had CMW installed so not quite sure why the prompt. Do I want to confirm the model # even though it is wrong? I'm not really sure what steps to take here.
Another option is "Check for Rom Updates" which shows 9-20120809-UNOFFICIAL-k1" as my current rom. Selecting this results in a dialogue box - Flash ClockworkMod Recovery You must have ClockworkMod Recovery installed before continuing install the recovery through ROM Manager first. Cancel/Install options are listed and I've been just hitting cancel. Do I want to Install? I've been hesitant because I thought CWM was already installed based on being able to boot into recovery.
When I boot to recovery via Rom Manager (ADB won't recognize the tablet still from PC), I see CWM - based Recovery v6.0.1.0 - which again confuses me as to why Rom Manager would tell me I need CWM installed before it can flash roms since this once again suggests to me that I was right initially and that CWM is installed already (though that begs the question - why doesn't Rom Manager recognize CWM as already being installed?).
So in a nutshell - any ideas what I need to do or am doing wrong to install the R2 release non-destructively? I'd prefer to get it working through CWM, but if I download the NVFLASH version and do it from AXP mode and the PC - will that be non-destructive or does it perform a tablet wipe?
thanks again for assistance.
UPDATED INFO - figured part of the problem...
So I downloaded the R2 image and it went to my dad's Download directory - didn't realize that he has 2 directories with same name - one being internal and other being external. When I moved the download from the internal default download directory to the external one with the same name to comply with "1. Download one of the CWM_K1_*.zip versions and move to external sdcard" - recovery CWM was able to see the zip file now and let me flash the CWM_K1_ICS_AOSP_Rooted_R2.zip.
Seems to have flashed fine - but question (lol don't answers always result in more questions) - is after flashing I'm not sure if this is a downgrade or upgrade. I see the Build # is now K1-userdebug.4.0.4.IMM76L.eng.administrator.20120731.061506 test-keys which is earlier than the 9-20120809-UNOFFICIAL-k1. I also noticed it went back to the old logo on bootup instead of the Android good/bad robot graphics.

I have rooted my Nexus 4 with Tool Kit and flashed it with stock 4.3 image. Few days later came new small security patch for 4.3. Now every few days I get the notification on my phone but when I try to let it install, it does not get installed.
Here is phone info:
Android version: 4.3
Build number: JWR66V
Kernel: 3.4.0-perf-gf43c3d9
I will appreciate your help. Is this update available as a zip file on the forum? if it is, then I can side load it on my rooted phone.
I will appreciate any help.
I have this too
If it helps, I have to problem too.
I have rooted my phone and installed ClockworkMod Recover v6.0.2.3 but have not installed any custom ROM or other changes (that I know of).
I periodically get a messge an update has been downloaded, but when I attempt to install it, ClockworkMod informs me:
Code:
E: failed to verify whole-file signature
E: signature verification failed
Since I don't know what it is, I abort the install, but I can't tell what is happening. I would also appreciate any help.
Regards,
Bret

Yes, I have also installed ClockworkMod Recover v6.0.2.3 and running stock ROM as well. . If this update is available as a zip file then we can install it. It should not be just two of us having this issue. Everyone who rooted phone should have same issue.

Thanks for pointing towards the right direction. I tried to side load the zip but it failed. I will post the question in the other thread.
Hey all,
Yes, i have read all the sticky Threads about this Theme, and also the Guide about this issue, but its doesnt work....
I have a Samstung GT-I9505
Android: 4.2.2
Basicversion: I9505XXUDMGG
Kernel: 3.4.0-1220396

Wed Jul 31 00:14:26 KST 2013
Buildnumber: JDQ39.I9595XXUDMGG
I flash yesterday my Note 8.0 with the same issue, but than i found a CWM Version for Odin and its works, but not here.
At first, i dont wipe my data before the install rom... thats the reason?
I install CWM_6_Touch from the board via Odin v3.09 and try to install this Customrom via recoveryboot (boot with keycommand) => cm-10.2-20130914-NIGHTLY-jfltexx but everytime i geht the "signature verification failed" error. I also try to install the ADAM Kernel, but i cant. I find only .zip files, and no file i can use with odin. I installed the ROM Manager from the Playstore but i also cant install anything with it.
1. At first, i want install the Infamous_S4_Kernel.v4.6_OC Kernal
2. Install the CM-10.2 ROM
Can anybody give me a detailed instruction (pleaes no gobbledygook) what i have to install or wich file i have to flush? You can also send me a PM in German or contact me at skype ([email protected]). I think its more easy at germen for me

Hi again,
So little update, for all other that find this thread via search function.
The Problem, its not possible to install a custom Rom, with the Samsung default Recovery-Mode. At fist i dont see a different and think i boot on CWM but there is a Problem on some phones. There is a bad script on /system/etc/insall-recovery.sh that overwrite your custom recoverymode.
Thats why, i cant install a ROM
Root your Phone, delete the .sh file and install the CWM again via Odin and install your CustomROM :good:
PS: sad, that nobody can write it easy that all can understand it. Everybody speak from e3, e2 and some other special shortwords.
I've been trying to flash TheAxman 's [ROMS][ViSiON-X STOCK SHOP][i9505/i337][ViS-STOCK][STABLE BASES][03-18] but i keep getting a status 7, installation aborted error which claims that the the expected number of arguments is 5, got 4.
the steps i did to get this error message were:
wipe data/ factory reset --> wipe cache --> format system --> wipe dalvik --> install VisionX's rom
My device is the i337m, its unlocked im with telus
i attached a screenshot of the about phone info for reference.
The device is rooted using cf-auto, and has cwm 6.0.4.7 installed, running on 4.2.2 stock ROM
Now from what i understood in the installation instructions, I should be flashing my carrier's kernel after installing the new ROM, but i cant even get past the rom installation.. I read around the forums that this might be due to a broken updater script, I 'm also iffy as to where/ how I could get a hold of my carriers kernel file to use after (hopefully) i get Vision-X installed on the device..
according to ktoonsez, I should use [KERNEL][TMO][AOSP/TW/GE - 4.4/4.3/4.2][03/12/2014] KT-SGS4 - MJ5 - KTweaker
lastly, i dont know if this is relevant, but in the CWM log i have a message that shows up saying the following
"can't partition non mmcblk device: /devices/platform/msm_sdcc . 2/mmc_host/mmc2"
thank you in advance for your time and assistance
Anyone?
happiness is a warm mug

Check if your download is good first. However, I don't believe you can use that kernel as it says I337 and not I337m.

thank you for your input, I will redownload the file to cross that out. as for the kernel, how/where might I be able to find it? Can I simply use the stock kernel on 4.2.2 from telus ?

Stock kernel will work as long as you're only using other 4.2.2 Touchwiz ROMs. Otherwise, you can check the development section for any kernel thread that lists I337m

Kernel is right. TMO for the I337M.
I've had status 7 errors before using philz and they were solved using 1 of 2 methods. First, I would check the rom for asserts (txt at the beginning of the updater-script that checks ur device version code against those intended for the roms use). If u find an assert in the script, just delete it and try the install again.
Second thing u could try that worked for me was (idk if standard cwm has this option but philz does) checking the 'allow old update binary' box in the settings. If it's not there, try philz or twrp.
Lastly, like deadly said, don't flash the kernel til u get the ROM to boot. That way troubleshooting is easier
thank you both for your valuable input. I will give it another shot

Try using the jfltetmo build, from what I've read t-mobile ROMs and kernels work on the I337m. If that doesn't work the international build is the next best bet.
hello,
just a quick update on our latest discussion, it seems that the tmo build is indeed the right one to flash, ive finally rid myself of TW, and running on slimkat. many thanks for your valuable input.
Hey guys,
I hope you're noob friendly here too and can help me with my phone:
I have a Xcover2 which I have already successfully rooted with an Android image.
My problem: I use link2sd to send almost all apps to my external SD card. That works fine. But after some time, my phone seems to block the FAT32 partition of the external SD card, which means I can't write or reed from the normal external storage partition anymore. After formating the partition on my PC, it works again for some time, but the problem comes back sooner or later.
Now:
A friend suggested to use CM as alternativ. Unfortunately my XCover2 is not officially supported. I found an image for CM developed of one of you here but I have no clue how to root my phone with CM. Obviously it works different than with Odin.
Can someone help me?
Sorry I just started with the topic of how to hack a phone, so I am very happy for any help!

Actually not, I root my device with the same root.zip on any ROM (custom/stock). Anyway, Cyanogenmod comes rooted. Just Install SuperSU from playstore https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.chainfire.supersu

Hey Carlyle,
thanks for the reply. Unfortunately I still don't know, how to use the CM image that one of your developers has uploaded. For my first root I could used a tar.md5-file. The zip-file for CM is a lot more complexe. So now I have no idea how to use it. You see I'm really just starting.

no as I said, it is already running on a rooted Android Version (4.1.2). The XCover 2 is not officially supported by Cynogenmod.com

OK, so you're not on cyanogenmod yet. You don't need to root it, you need to flash it... This was the confusion here. Rooting is gaining administrative privileges on your device flashing is modifying/changing software through recovery, Odin or FastBoot. So, I'm guessing you still have a custom recovery from when you rooted? TWRP or CWM Recovery?
Edit: follow this guide (choose either CWM or TWRP) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2352252
Search for gapps for your device on google or here in XDA
Reboot into recovery
Select install (TWRP) or install from SD card (CWM)
Navigate to the cm .zip file you downloaded and install it
Navigate to the gapps .zip and install it
Wipe cache and factory reset
Reboot
