to change CSC:
1. using keystring method such like *#272#XXXXXX
2. Using UART- to USB converter to send signal into the phone. (AT+PRODCODE)

hi folks,
yes, i know that i made somewhere a mistake ... what i did ...
i was on ATO (Austria) version of MI7 and thought i can flash a german JB1 via odin.... everything worked well till hidden.img comes up ... at this point the flash process failed completely.
afterwards the phone shows "firmware upgrade encountered an issue. please select recovery mode in KIES" ... which i tried, but after giving the model number & S/N it always prompt that the S/N doesnt work (but its 100% correct).
what should i do now? maybe i could flash an original ATO MI7 firmware over, but i couldn't find an Austrian Version for Download
br,
herm
try this
Had the same problem with kies.Restart pc then re-enter sn in kies recovery.
I had this problem and I fixed it by flashing the original firmware that came with the phone. I was on stock UK btu and tried to flash stock h3g UK. Failed on hidden.IMG, stuck on kies screen so I downloaded the stock UK btu firmware and flashed with Odin and all is OK again.

To flash cross regional fimrware you need to change you CSC code.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2491877
Also if you flash MJ3 build then your bootloader will be upgraded and you have to stay will MJ3 firmware, you cant then downgrade back to MJ1 firmware

I want to know this as well. I have Malaysian fw on my phone but I want to switch to BTU. According to what I have read this should work because my current region is XX, however I have seen way too many people getting this ext4 error for me to try it.
Can someone give a definitive answer? I am on MJ3 with a region of XX. Thanks!

CSC code for UK (no carrier) = BTU.
Revision of Android - MJ7, latest version released as of yet...
Not sure about the rest but it appears regional...
Flashed it after running through RDLV but had issues with WIFI and sd card... Flashed extracted modem from MJ6 rom, this sent me into a bootloop. Flashed stock MJ6 rom onto phone and fixed the bootloop but put new bootloaders on. At this point warranty void was 0x0. Tried Kingoapp to root hoping it wouldn't trip counter, it did...
New bootloaders are a mongrel....

Stay away from Kingo/vroot, xda has removed all links and closed the thread. It's full of malware / spyware and will send all personal details to a Chinese Web server.

Make sure you take a backup via Kies if you need personal files
Download the respective stock ROMS from sammobile.com or samsung-updates.com or see thread on Stock Roms on XDA
Extract zip to get tar.md5
Put device into download mode (Vol down+ Home + Power) and Flash using Odin (PDA option)
Wait till device reboots back into Android after completing the flash and recovery
Once device reboots, do a Factory Reset via back up and reset option
Once device reboots after Factory Reset/recovery, enter the google account info and restore settings and then turn off the device
and restart (go into recovery and see the csc btu being applied if yes then stop here,do factory reset and restart)
after this the next steps are optional
Boot device back into download mode (Vol down+ Home + Power)
Re-flash the same downloaded firmware for a second time via Odin
Once the device reboots after the 2nd flash, your CSC should have changed to the CSC of the ROM you downloaded, and Kies also should show that CSC has changed and it should allow future updates via Kies or OTA
check csc by going to stock recoverry it will show manual mode at the bottom and then show btu csc applied
i am now on xxumdj6
Hi, I have a T-Mobile polish S5 and I want to change my csc (tpl) in italian (itv)...
The Note 3 procedure (flash the firmware, wipe the device then insert SIM and it changes to my region) works? If not, are there new (and if possible easier) ways without rooting device?
Thanks

Flash the Italian ITV rom with Odin 3.09, do a data factory reset, setup the phone and then go to recovery and reboot. Sometimes after that you have to reflash the Italian rom again with Odin to make the CSC file stick. Thats how i flashed the DBT rom on my Dutch T-Mobile rom and my device is now recognised as a DBT device by Kies.

Ok.. so, after the first reboot, I will test csc with *#1234# code.. if not changed, I have to flash ITV rom again
And, after csc change, I won't able to update through OTA bu only via Odin.. right?
What about Knox counter?

You should be getting the ITV OTA`s or from Kies if the device is recognised as a ITV device by Kies. If not reboot into recovery and wipe the cache and reboot or reflash the ITV rom with Odin without a wipe.

I have bought unlocked Galaxy Note 4 from 3 UK. It has own stock firmware with terrible 3 start screen. I have found your threat and then followed the instructions here to reflash stock BTU rom. And now my new Galaxy Note 4 is stock BTU with nice Samsung boot animations. And Samsung Kies recognise it as well. Thanks for info and instructions.

And Knox is not trigged of course. Cool!
Has anyone tried doing a repair from Kies using a VPN connection with a VPN server in the desired CSC country?
Would that automatically change the CSC? This sounds reasonable because when repairing a bricked phone, the CSC info on the file-system should normally not be trusted (it might not even be there), so how else would Kies know which CSC to use if not from the user's IP address?
I've been able to change the firmware location customization on my Sony Ericsson Arc S and the Sony PC Companion software using the above method, so I was wondering whether the same would be true with Samsung Kies.
this also work's

Hello. Thanks for your kind help. I have a question about flashing part of your procedure through odin .
Which options should I tick in order to be change the csc?
Do in need to use PIT file and repartition?
Or is it necessary to update the bootloader?
By the way my phone is SM-N910C and i am planning to flash 5.0.1 boc3 rom of poland. And i want to change my CSC meanwhile.

Hello,
Solution in Post #4
I was running 4.3 on my Note 3 N9005 with XNOTE 7.0 rom
I backed up efs with samsung tool which only backed up EFS and not modemset1 and modemset2. So now I can't restore my IMEI and baseband after updating to KK.
I flashed ND3 PHN firmware (accidentally Netherlands firmware, I thought it was UK based)
I got ext4 error on first flash, then I used PIT file and all went fine. But after booting, No baseband and imei..
So after restoring efs partition 11, can't restore baseband. I went to 2 shops , and they couldn't get the Baseband repaired with SPT box.
I've followed Mirek's method, fire script and tried flashing 5, 6 modems includeing NG2 and NG1 latest..
I've tried flashing XSI ND3 , PHN ND3 , BLG NG2 and BTU NB7 firmwares.
Phone was fine on 4.3 but I'm not able to find a SINGLE compatible firmware on KK which repairs the baseband!!
Without baseband, I can't even repair it with SPT box..
Help please!
I don't have a full efs backup, just partition number 11, which is of no use in repairing baseband!
Phone info Screenshots.
Solved
I did update on n9005 from 4.3 to 4.4, I didn't have efs backup or anything.
Flashed all the roms and modems on 4.4 but no avail. Then I found 4.3 modems from xda and flashed 4.3 modem on CP in ODIN and baseband came to.
4.3 modems N9005: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2475714
First priority to repair your phone is to RECOVER BASEBAND. Everything else will be done after that. No baseband, no repair.
Mine is fixed now btw, did it yesterday!
Try this script I flashed it on a custom rom and it gave me back my baseband and efs. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=47014662
Sent from my SM-N9005 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app

Did you flash stock rom using PIT file or not ?
Few months ago I flashed Android 5.0 Poland and today I wanted to flash original version which is Android 5.0 Romania. I did flash it and CSC changed from XEO which is for Poland as far as I know to SEE (unkown) instead of csc ROM which is for Romania.
My question is how I can get rid of SEE csc and get the ROM csc which is normal for my current firmware. I did tried factory reset quite few times.
Google ?

this maybe help you flash CSC in odn csc tab:
extract cache.img and hidden.img from your Romania firmware make tar from them using this program(https://www.dropbox.com/s/egp2c88amceg8mn/IZArc.4.1.9.rar?dl=0)
change the tar name to CSC.tar and flash in odin CSC tab.
do it with your on risk
