[Q] major help required - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Against better advice I tried to do a firmware upgrade but it failed. I know have a message saying firmware upgrade encounted an issue. Please select recovery in Kies. If I conect to Kies it says my device is not supported. Is there any software I can use to force it to install the firmware OR is there anyone here in the UK who would be willing to do it for me if I pay you. It's a samsung galaxy S4 gb-9505. OR IS MY PHONE NOW COMPLETELY F**KED :crying::crying::crying:

Here is a full tutorial for how to flash a rom with Odin http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L6VmIfXPWgs. Here is the link to the Dutch PHN NE2 (unbranded) rom https://drive.google.com/uc?id=0B6Ufgy16r712ODRMRFhheGZMZEk&export=download. Good luck mate
BTW: make sure to remove the battery first, wait 10-20 seconds, reinsert it and go into downloadmode and flash the rom with Odin 3.09.

Flashing a UK or German DBT rom shouldn`t be a problem. I flashed the German DBT cause they are updated quicker and more frequent then the Dutch firmware. I cannot post you the link because its not allowed but look for Firmwares on Sammobile.com and look for the SM-G900F German DBT rom.
IMPORTANT: disable Kies in windows task manager before you flash with Odin !!!!!
still fail
it failed again i dont know what im doing wrong.
Are you able to help me by using teamviewer so you can check if i did any wrong?
After downloading i extract the file into a map that i created on desktop.
Then i choose the file by pressing AP at odin then wait and start.
İs there any other option?

- Do you use a usb 2 or 3 cable? Usb 3 can be a problem sometimes as i read.
- Have you terminated Kies in windows task manager?
- Do you have the correct usb drivers installed? Does IDCOM light up and show you an COMx number if you connect the phone to the pc in the left upper corner of Odin?
it shows COM3 and its blue is that ok?

[Q] Help a moron out and get paid

Note 3 in the middle of firmware UG cat pulls power cord out of the wall. Error message says repairable in Kies. I have not the time to figure it out myself. Is there someone out there who could fix the issue, install a Rom and send it back to me for a reasonable amount of money?
Are you able to boot to odin/download mode on the phone? If you can then you can try to flash firmware that is compatible with your phone to fix it.

Hey thanks for the quick response. I've got it connected in Odin. Any suggestions for fw?
Go to www.sammobile.com and find ur note 3. Then download the fw, extract the zip or rar and put the files into odin. Then flash =)

I keep getting a re-partition failed message in ODIN...re-partition is NOT checked. Any ideas?
Fixed it!!You are a gentleman and a lady. Thank you so much.

Help! Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in kies ....

I flashed a rom and it wasn't working , I could boot but screen was black . I flashed another rom and pulled a cable by accident.I think my phone is soft bricked. Kies can't recognize it, I can only boot into Download mode. My phone doesn't charge at wall outlet. Rom i used was stock firmware for galaxy s4 (5.0.1) , my model is GT-I9505 (4g version). When i go into odin mode to flash a new rom it fails "Complete(write) operation failed. Please help me!
try flashing with .pit file and tick re-partition.
.pit file is somewhere here on forum - hard to search on mobile.
it is either that or try different cable / USB port / computer

I tried that pit file can be extracted using heimdall, but odin says complete (write) operation failed like it has no access.

Just let Kies repair it,you have to enter the model and serial nr witch is under the battery.
In Kies go to help or something(in Dutch it's Hulpmiddelen ) then select in drop down Firmware ugrade and inisialate ,then enter model and serial nr
Put phone in download mode and go. The firmware will be downloaded and installed automaticly
Sorry for my bad English
I think Kies doesn't work on rooted phones that is why it can't connect?
@Vokrava: You'd be correct. While I posted the link to the video already, you should be able to resolve this by flashing your firmware via Odin. Just be certain to put the firmware in the Bootloader/BL section of Odin, rather than the PDA/AP section.
Odin : Complete (Write) operation failed
Download mode : SW REV. CHECK FAIL : fused : 4 , Binary : 2
Who is your service provider, and what country is yours?
I got the phone from my friend , I don't know where did he buy it. My provider is mt:s , country is Serbia
Having gotten the phone from a friend changes things. Find out where he got it from and what carrier it was originally using.
Someone told me you can install firmware from any country. I will find that out in 2-3 days or sooner I only remember I had some vodafone bloatware on it. Thanks for helping me I hope we will solve this.
If the phone is unlocked you can install any firmware you wish. However, this particular error seems to be one where you need the original firmware. For example, my I9505 was originally an O2 UK phone, but it's been unlocked. If I encountered this issue I may not be able to use the BTU firmware I have on my hard drive. I'd have to go to sammobile and download O2 firmware.
Ah ok I had cyanogen mod on it before.
Any other way to find out while I wait ?
Not unless you can decipher the IMEI. The carrier the phone was intended for is embedded in it.
It came from Europe (Vodafone) , he doesn't remember the country. I think it is Italy. What do you think ?
Try this firmware.
Patched it with spanish rom , everything is working! Thanks for everything have a nice week!
Store that ROM on your hard drive in case you need it in the future.

Note 4 Verizon failing to update to Marshmallow

Hello everyone
Please bear me with me for I am a dinosaur that grew up with Symbian phones, then was forced to use Windows phones and now recently converted to Android, therefore not an expert in this field.
Bought the Note 4 off ebay in UK. Mobile banking app and Android Pay say my phone is rooted however Root Checker says it isn't . I have tried to update to Marshmallow through ODIN but I get the FAIL Auth error every time I try...
In settings the phone shows up as N910F however it is a N910V ... I do need help to figure out the precise model though just to make sure I am installing the correct software.
Also, I am using a Lebara SIM card (partners with Vodafone) here in UK, not sure if that matters.
Would really appreciate if someone would have the patience to guide me how to install Marshmallow on my phone, I just want a clean one and no rooting. Tried different tutorials on the internet but none worked for me or I am surely doing something wrong.
Many thanks in advance!
Andy

Hi Andy I'm also in the UK with note 4. To find out the correct model you need to boot to download mode. Power off the phone, Hold volume down + home + power together. It will boot to download mode and from there it will show you the model.
Post your correct model here and I will post the firmware with the correct steps to flash.
Hi Callum
In download mode it says N910V

Ahh you have the verizon varient.
https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/download/117781/N910VVRS2CPL1_N910VVZW2CPL1_VZW/
Here is the stock marshmallow firmware for your device.
Download and unzip the firmware. Place it in odin in AP. In odin options enable auto reboot and uncheck repartition. Put phone in download mode, connect to pc and start.
Thanks for the firmware , that worked like a charm. Is it possible to install a non-Verizon version on this phone? One that does not have the Verizon preloaded apps?
Also, do you know anything about the Note 4 getting the Nougat update?

You can only flash firmware for your device which is N910V. Which means unfortunately you can only flash verizon firmware. However you can root your phone and use titanium backup to remove the bloat.
As for the N update I have read and heard rumours that we will get it but I don't have my hopes up. Even though the Note 4 is 2 years old it's still a high end device. It hasn't been officially announced yet. Only been announced for s6/s7 and future releases

1st download the firmware.
Download odin, latest version is fine but I use v3.10.6
On phone settings go to about device, tap build number 7 times until developer options is there, go on developer options and enable USB debugging.
Plug phone to pc to make sure drivers are up to date.
Once firmware is downloaded unzip it.
Power off phone and put into download mode, vol down + home + power.
Open odin and click AP, insert the firmware. Odin options should be, re partition UNCHECKED, auto reboot checked, f reset time checked.
Plug phone into pc, in odin log it will say added with blue box saying com:3 or similar.
Press start and it will flash and reboot. The first boot can loop a few times or hang on the Samsung logo for a little while it's normal.
If it hangs for more than 15 minutes remove the battery for a few minutes then power on again and it will boot.
If you get any errors or are unsure let me know.
