[Q] Missing downloads app - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, this is my second ever post and before any says anything, I did search for a fix before and couldn't find anything. If anyone could be so kind as to lead me to one if there is, then I will gladly use that instead. Anyways, a few months ago, I rooted my Verizon Galaxy S5. That night, I foolishly updated my phone and it updated my kernel version. As far as I could tell, nothing major/awful happened to my phone other than that every time I booted up my phone, it annoyingly said "custom" under the android splash screen and that the download app, the one that is stock to an android phone and the one you use to access all of your downloads such as an apk or a pdf file that you downloaded from the internet, was missing from my app drawer. I still had the icon on my home screen because I was using nova launcher and that saved the icon but otherwise, it was like it never existed at all on my phone. I could access the app using the home screen icon but that was it. Today, I updated my phone using Odin and now, I have lollipop 5.0 and the annoying custom from the splash screen is gone but the downloads app is still missing. Can anyone help me? Should I just try downgrading back to 4.4.2? Edit, I imported the same back up that had the download app, is it called download manager now? If so, I still don't have it except on the system itself, no way to access it.

[Q] HELP!!!! QUICK!!! Cant Reinstall Factory ROM!!!

Hi Guys
Just joined the forums yesterday. I was enjoying tinkering with my S4, I rooted it and had some fun with it, installing cool apps and such like.
I downloaded titanium back up, and proceeded to remove (what I thought was) bloatware..... (yes...schoolboy error, I know) I didn't remove any crucial system files though, I aint that gung-ho. But what I did do, was remove Flip-Fonts (I didn't know that the little "f-f logo in the circle" was flipfonts.
Anyway, this was still ok. I downloaded a font app from the play store, and installed a new font. I deliberately chose a font that was annoying to look at, and barely legible, simply so I could instantly see that the install had worked. So I rebooted my S4, and when it booted up, I noticed immediately that it had worked. Thus I knew the install proocess was working, and then I chose the font I wanted to install. BRILLIANT!!!
Then I noticed the issue. My system fonts were ok, however, when I was surfing the web, it was still using the annoying, barley legible font I initially installed as a tester. Gmail was using it, yahoo, chrome. I tried to uninstall and change the font. I could change it, but again, the fonts in gmsail etc were the annoying one that I didn't want. I could see no way to change this. So I did a factory restore this morning, through the normal channels (setting/accounts/back-up and reset) thinking this would reset.
When I booted the phone back up, when I was guided through the initial phone set up tutorial (time, accounts, device name etc ect) I noticed that the system font was set as the annoying one I don't want. So I downloaded iFont, and changed it. Again, it changed the font to the one I wanted, but again, when I went online it was still that (by this time) INCREDIBLY ANNOYING FONT!!!
So I went in to SuperSU and chose to unroot the device. I then went through the root process I initially used I re-rooted using this method. Again, when I booted up, the initial set-up wizard that guides you through had that IRRITATING, PESKY, SUICIDAL FONT!!!
So my good android friends, I require your assistance. How do I get round this pesky issue? I was thinking I would have to roll back to the factory ROM? Or is there some simple setting I am missing This is really really getting to me now. I have been tikering with the fone, not too in depth may I add, just installnig root apps and such. I was willing to venture in to the custom ROM's avenue sometime soon.....although after this little episode, I may think twice.
I do not have a nandroid back up. I have been advised on another forum to reinstall the factory ROM. However, I know there are different methods for different versions. So below is the info from my device. Whats the best plan of action for me. I still want to root my phone again, I just want shot of this annoying font.
In About Device:
Model Number: GT I9505
Android Version: 4.2.2
Baseband Version: I9505XXUDMH8
kernel Version: 3.4.0-1220396 Then below it says se.infra @0210-03 1
(or something like that. I can hardly read it because of that annoying font)
Build Number: JDQ39.19505XXUDMH8
And i'm in the UK. my carrier/service provider is O2
Please Help!!!!!!! :crying:

As the other guy suggested, but instead of using that link, try http://www.samfirmware.com type in GT-I9505 into the device search bar and find United Kingdom (o2).
Flash it using Odin and you should be all good! I'd also recommend you take care when messing about with your phone, especially with system files. I would also recommend you flash a custom recovery such as TWRP and make backups of your device. It's saved me a load of times already!
Just wipe, flash new rom (stock rom or any rom you want). As long as you don't do anything crazy you can always use download mode to flash roms.

[Q] Samsung Galaxy S4 SGH-1337m black home screen

Terribly sorry if this has been addressed before. Searched for the topic and didn't find anything.
My issue is as follows:
I rooted my phone today. That worked without a hitch.
I then installed an app called NoBloat.
After uninstalling some bloaty Bell apps, my home screen disappeared after some app crashes. the top notification bar flashes on and off, and even after factory reset, the result is the same. Would flashing the stock ROM fix this issue?
Yes. But I dont recommend u install this app NOBLOAT anymore. Is better take a look what u want delete: HERE

Annoying install Moto x pure

Model xt1575
I am having some trouble with my moto x pure xt1575. there is an install for an update that pops up on my phone blocking everything i do on it every 10 minutes of the day or even whenever i lock my phone wanting me to install an update that will never be successful. Ive ignored it many times and i just cannot find any way to get rid of it. My phone is rooted and i have no use for this update. please someone help me with this issue. it has became a real problem for me for a week now and i dont want to look at this thing any longer Ive attempted to attach an image to this post. hopefully you can see what pops up on my phone.
attempt #2 to attach an image to the post. hopefully it shows up.
Theres some kind of package update app, like "Motorola OTA" or something in system/apps. I think that you can freeze with titanium backup. That will get rid of the notification, especially if you dont ever want to take an OTA, this is the way to go. I'm on BrokenOS right now and the update crap is already totally removed on their ROM so I can't find the exact name.
Maybe see this thread for the Moto x and look for some of these things. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=46927618&postcount=14
Damn
I installed titanium an went to freeze the updater app. It will not do it without a full version of titanium.

Have you tried these three methods?
I do not get update notifications, and truthfully I cannot remember how I stopped mine unless its in the rom I am using that it is blocked by default. I had my rom installed to long to remember.
But try these steps and see if it helps.

Also take a read, found it in my bookmarks.

I think I did it
I downloaded app quarantine from the play store, set it to advanced settings from the tab on the top right of the apps home page above quarantine, I went back to apps on the home page of the quarantine app and checked Motorola updater then clicked either quarantine or block (mind you there is a tab next to the apps tab on the front page, you cantiss it) it gave me a warning that it will block this app then boom. I can find it on the quarantine tab and I haven't gotten a pop up in 2 hours when the update normally would've blocked all my apps every 10 minutes. I'm happy so far

Possibly have two different firmwares running?

I have a SM-G550FY, at least that is what my phone says. Now when I got the phone it was a metropcs phone and I tired rooting it which worked. Then I tried to flash the Reborn ON5 rom and then I had no sound. After this I tried flashing a stock rom but I believe it was for the T-Mobile variant. NOW it wont open ANYTHING. It boots and the initial android setup shows up but after I cant even open the settings in my phone. I used recovery to reinstall the reborn rom since no sound is better then no apps. I believe I flashed imgs for different model number but now I am not sure what to do. I just want to go back to the stock rom so I can have my sound back. Any help would be appreciated.
To fix the no apps/black screen what I did was pull down the notification menu from the top of the screen, then by long pressing the buttons I was eventually able to get into a settings menu where I could get to the play store. I started by downloading a bunch of the basic apps that were missing...contacts, messages, etc. then I installed "Google Now Launcher" and that fixed all the things. The bad metro wallpaper showed up and there were the apps that I thought were missing. I hope this helps...or at least gives you some hope that everything isnt lost.
Edit...if you can get to the play store...try the google now launcher first. Honestly any launcher might work.

How can I remove one UI update on settings?

Hello, I've recently attempted to update to one UI on the settings of my phone. However, it just take way too long to download it and I just don't know why so i pressed pause download and instead, I just download and install it using Smart Switch app on PC. When I finished the installation and booted up my phone I still have the notifications regarding Samsung update. it was the update that I paused the download with earlier. anyways do you guys have any idea how to get rid of this?
tl;dr: Already updated to One UI using smart switch desktop app but still got one ui update downloading on phone's settings app.
I was similar problem in my Note 9. I just flash older modem via Odin and update info just gone from everywhere. Maybe in FE it work too. Of course any auto update in settings and dev options disable.
