Has anyone been able to run Viper4android the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 lollipop? In mine phone when I read the Driver status always shows abnormal.
I'm on 5.0.1 (N910H) and v4a doesnt work on my phone too.
Sorry chaps, Viper4Android isn't going to work unless the kernel's SELinux status is set to permissive. AFAIK that's not available yet.
Are there any new news?
Hi,
After flashing this kernel (link below) it worked for one song until I opend soundalive. Now it shows in driver status 'Status: normal' but unfortunatly 'processing: no'.
Does anyone know how to fix this? It worked one time so I think I have to disable soundalive or edit something in build.prob?
edit: I disabled soundalive, reinstalled the driver and now it works!

With this kernel no, this one is only for n910f. You need an other custom kernel which is compatible to the n910c and where you can set selinux to permissive. After that the chance it will work is much higher.

Thanks! I may opt to try DN Note or other deodexed ROM maybe. Still waiting for solution for this. Been using Viper since Note 2!

Maybe this kernel works for you but the following comments under that post are not really good and convincing..
Almost there... but not yet
I'm also just can't make V4A work in Note 4 (N910C).
I know the easiest way is to flash a compatible ROM (with SElinux set to permissive as default) but there are still some issues here.
Its almos consense that without setting SElinux to permissive the driver would never work. Tried a couple of tricks and putted my system to permissive and could make de driver enabled, status normal but NOT processing...
Digged the xda forum and learned an important thing: there is a workaround for this pemissive stuff, you allow driver to work in SE enforcing. That made me a lot more confortable, after all SElinux is made to make the system more secure, and we are all removing the security policy in the sake of a single app.
Ok, the workaround works, but I´m still stucked in she same problem: everything is normal but that "processing: no" hell.
Questions:
1) There are some relation with the player?
2) changing v4a to force enable will help?
3) changing to FX compatible mode will help?
4) WHY IT JUST DOESNT PROCESS!?
System:
N910C lollipop (sweet ROM v11)
SElinux enforcing
SuperSU and Busybox installed by default w/ ROM
V4A version 2.3.4.0
Player: Spotify
Thanks any help
SE Linux workaround
For those who want to keep SElinux enforcing and thus keep the system safer, here is the command you want to run (run as root):
/system/xbin/supolicy --live "allow mediaserver mediaserver_tmpfs:file { read write execute };"
It has to be executed every boot, that can be done via init script or via tasker profile
It worked perfectly to me (Note 4 N910C w/ Sweet ROM v11), the v4a driver shows exactly the same status as if I had changed SElinux to permissive
For those who are having problem only with 'Processing : No' :
Use ES File Explorer (or any kind)
1. Look for system/etc/audio_policy.conf
2. Make a backup of it.
3. Edit and remove deep buffer as shown in the attachment.
4. Save and make sure the file permission is rw-r--r--.
5. Reboot and enjoy. [emoji5]
Thanks Zhao, thing is there is no deep buffer block in my audio_policy.conf... It should? Something wrong with the file?
Sorry for the bump.
I'm on Stock LL BOE3 for N910C. Which steps should I follow to install and let Viper4Android work? I don't mind rooting or installing a permissive kernel, but no new cooked ROM please. I want the system to be as stock as possible.
I'm no developer and I don't know how complicated this could be, but isn't it possible to do something like this for us Note 4 users? http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6/themes-apps/viper4android-neon-enable-including-t3139893
Thanks in advance, I come from rooted Galaxy S3 and it was so simple... now I'm lost through so many threads about permissions and complex ROMS.
Made it work with rooted note 4 (sweet rom). Edited the deep buffer stuff plus run the script in my last post via tasker. Viper works like a charm, globally and with Linux enforced

[This is for those wanting to use Kopfgeldjaeger's SGS3 Easy UMS USB mass storage app with CF-Root. Please note that this is ONE of the options to install Busybox. Other (simpler) options DO exist but, this one worked for me where others failed]
I am new to the S3 and this may not be all that insightful to the pros out there but hopefully this will help the noobs.
I have had my s3 for a week now and I decided to root it using CF-Root. However, as you may know CF-Root does not install Busybox (needed for this useful UMS Mode App - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1711009). So, after much trial and error, I found the solution I needed.
Busybox can be installed using the S3 Toolkit (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1703488). However, busybox doesn't work if you just have CF-Root and install it from the S3 Toolkit or the Stericson Busybox installer app without an insecure kernel/adbd patch.
Chainfire, has provided a solution through an app called adbd Insecure.
So, here is what you you need:
1. Root using CF-Root (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1695238).
2. adbd Insecure v1.0 app (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1687590)
3. S3 Toolkit (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1703488)
Procedure:
1. Root your S3 using CF-Root method
2. Install adbd Insecure from Google Market (or XDA)
3. Run the app and select "Enable insecure adbd" AND "Enable at boot"
4.Restart S3
5.Connect to S3 to PC using usb cable
6.Open S3 Toolkit (I assume it is installed already with drivers etc.)
7.Select option 14 (Install Busybox on Phone) and answer "yes" to both questions that follow
8. Busybox will install.
9 Check that it works by downloading the UMS Mode App - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1711009 - and running the app with your phone connected to the PC. (If you get any funny messages then the procedure has not worked for some reason.)
Hope this helps.
:good:Support the Developers in whatever way possible by donating or buying one or more their apps from Google Play.:good:
or alternatively.....
1. have root
2. Open Play Store
3. Download "busybox " - https://play.google.com/store/apps/...t=W251bGwsMSwxLDYsInN0ZXJpY3Nvbi5idXN5Ym94Il0.
4. click install
You can try that. Didn't work for me though.

I think you will find that there were some versions which were compact versions of BB, and hence short on binaries, therefore it may be that the version installed from market doesn't work with the ums app as it is quite recent.
There is an interesting bit about it in the OP of the supercharger script thread

Thanks for the insight Slaphead20. That helps me understand why other Busybox installs did not work for me despite several clean firmware installs to try out various options.

I had a look at the v6 thread and ironically he recommends the Sterrickson app if you have BB problems so that alley seems a blind one!
Well, whatever the case this is ONE option for people to try should they have trouble like I have had. I have been using (and abusing) my Android phones (previously an X10 which still works nicely for what it is) for well over 2 years now and I have used Stericson with success before. But, for whatever reason, Stericson did not work for me here. So, here is just one solution to get busybox onto your S3 that works with the Easy UMS application.

Hi Friends,
Everyone tasted the tweaks and uses of Xposed framework in KITKAT stock roms surely missing it in lollipop rom and waiting for it or running behind bugful CM12 ROMS... And Happy news is @rovo89 (developer of Xposed framework) claims that he tested and running fine in ART devices as he tested in Nexus 5 and he also said that xposed framework will be coming soon , not so long... Fingers crossed.... I believe it will out within March or April .....

Viper4Android Complete Setup Guide with Neon Enabled and Convolver (5.0.2 & 5.1.1)
I just wanted to share you guys how i got Viper4Android fully working on my T-Mobile Galaxy S6 Edge (SM-G925T).
I have been testing and searching for many days but never got it worked properly especially the NEON and Convolver but finally i got it work.
Following guide was tested on T-Mobile Galaxy S6 Edge with XtreStoLite and AxisM RLS3 (not planning to promote any ROM though) and latest KT Kernel Test Build on 6-20-2015.
Here is the download link
First i installed the busybox paid version from playstore and did the initial setup.
After that I downloaded latest Viper4Android from their official website. FX version v2.3.4.0
Then i installed it manually just as a user app by following the guide from djjohnnyblaze
(don't open it after the installation)
And then i moved "com.vipercn.viper4android_v2-1" folder from /data/app to /system/PRIV-APP by using Root Explorer.
Then set the permission of both folders, sub-folder and file to full access "0777" by following nappent's guide.
After that i downloaded the "audio_effect.conf.zip" file from the above link and pasted under "/System/etc/" and "/vender/etc/" folders and set the permissions to "0644"
And then i freeze both "Adapt Sound 4.0" "SoundAlive 3.0" by using System Tuner 3C. (Adapt Sount 4.0 was already removed on XtreStoLite Rom)
After that i rebooted then installed driver and rebooted again.
After the second boot, i rebooted again to recovery and install the supolicy fix script provided by maximumentropy from here.
And then reboot back to the system and then i got Viper4Android got it fully working with NEON Enabled except Convolver because of Kernel folder under /storage/sdcard0/Viper4Android is empty.
For that i extracted the Kernel Folder from the flashable zip provided by "stangdriver44". I tried to flash his zip in first place but didn't get it work.
Here is the link to download Kernel Folder that i extracted from stangdriver44's zip file. Just unzip and place it under /storage/sdcard0/Viper4Android.
I take no credit at all. All i did was just combine all the information in one place so people don't have to spend so much time like i did.
All credit goes to the original developer and the others people i mentioned above who contributed.
Enjoy!

HOLY $%!* man you are a lifesaver! Coming from the HTC M8 with Dolby and V4A in one hell of an audiophile combo, its been killing me to not be able to do the same with the S6.
I found the other guide, but it didnt work for me as Im sure I didnt follow the thing properly. This definitely did the trick, v4a is working and I dont even need to use the permissive kernel app anymore. I regretted importing the worst (G9208) variant as not just custom roms, but nothing including this seemed to work. I can now confirm it works on the stock rom and kernel perfectly. Loaded my irs files as well (HTC Boomsound irs was the best to me). Although now Dolby doesnt work anymore, likely due to the audioeffects file swap. Will keep at it.

I am not even rooted yet with my S6 Edge but just wanted to thank you for this.

How to add Impulse Responses:
Flash the MOD with recovery.
Open V4A, Install the drivers, and reboot.
Open V4A, Menu, UI Settings > Expert.
Go to headphones tab, go to Impulse Responses, make sure its Enabled, then click on Impluse Response, it will tell you that the folder is empty. Now it has created the folders for you.
Got to your Internal storage, a folder called EargasmSoundSystem.
Copy the IR responses from the Kernel folder, and paste them in this directory /storage/emulated/legacy/ViPER4Android/Kernel/
Check the Impulse Response in V4A, and all files should be there.
Enjoy.
I have added few pre-made Profiles, that you can paste in Profile folder in the same directory.
How does the backup/restore mechanism work?
When you flash Soulgasm mod, the system will backup your device's original sound files and drivers that conflict with the mod and save them in the location /sdcard/SoulgasmSoundSystem/Backup/.
When you want to remove the Mod, all you need to do is flashing Soulgasm Remover.zip and it will remove the mod and restore your previous sound files.
Note: Flashing the MOD twice in a row will overwrite your original files' backup with the files after flashing the mod.

I will test this on my Note4-N910C running MM.
Thanks

I will create an SSS_Remover.

It's even better.
Ok, can you please state the ROM and kernel you're using?
V4A is not getting root access to install its own drivers.
I will create an SSS_Remover.

Pretty sure the issue might be permissive kernel. I tried a couple of the dolby +viper sound mods and they fc on stock kernel needed permissive

Yes, this mod needs permissive kernel. Will update the thread today.
Update
Update::good:
Added a mechanism to backup/restore your original sound drivers.
I know this is for Mm but i tried for Lollipop Rom, did not boot. If you dont have a backup dont try on LP roms.

You can test it.
Thanks Hani, for the great mod.
I tested it on SimplROM v5 (5.1.1) and it didn't work, because it is not MM.
I tested it on EchoeROM V28 (6.0.1) and it did work, because it is MM........ sorta.... I guess.
Feel free to add it in the OP!
(PS: Im on the F version, in case somebody wants to know)
Got no boot animation after flashing this mod. Any advice? Using OnePlus One Broken OS android 6.0.1
Using Nitrogen OS Hammerhead MM bootloop :/ sad life

The mod doesn't touch the media part, did it boot?

Does it work on any device rather than GN4?
i tried it on my Htc One M9, on almost 3-4 roms, all ended in bootloop.
As we know from a previous post, another person announced he ported Nethunter to l9300, BUT the fact was that the link he posted was incorrect!
What can we Gs3 users do?
REQUIREMENTS:
-ALWAYS make a backup before doing any "strange" actions.
-TWRP or CWM
-Cyanogenmod 13
-Boeffla Kernel
HOW TO DO THIS:
It's even easier than installing a custom ROM.
-Just go to https://www.offensive-security.com/kali-linux-nethunter-download/
-Download the NEXUS 5 MARSHMALLOW .zip
-Flash it in recovery (always make sure you have a backup).
Don't worry if it takes a bit, it's normal.
KNOWN ISSUES:
-Of course, nexus 5 kernel is not the Galaxy s3's, this means some functions will probably NOT work.
-expect to (only while using nethunter app) have to reboot your device due to some freezing..

Is it necessary to use the Boeffla Kernel?
Actually i do not know if it is necessary, i wrote it because i had boeffla while i was flashing it, so in order to not make users brick their devices, just in case i suggest using it.
If some utilities (like the very common terminal issue) do not work, try looking at this post after you flash nethunter:

Thank you for your reply, I have another question, what is the difference with this tutorial?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/general/rom-kali-nethunter-porting-galaxy-s3-t3305011
I really would like to tell you if it works, but all the links are broken (i'm referred to that post, up here)..he actually says he ported a build made only for the galaxy s3...
In my post here i use the nexus 5 build, and probably with the differences between these two hardwares some features may not work.

It should work as well..
Yes of course this is kali linux but no, it's not going to turn your android device into linux.
Nethunter uses [email protected] in terminal to run linux commands...in other words it runs linux only in the terminal and it does not run the chroot itself but only the needed functionalities...
Go to android terminal emulator:
Type "Su",
And type: " bootkali".
And it will make you enter in the kali terminal

have you tried the ported kali i9300? cant make it work it says fatal error old kernel stuff
Which versions of Boeffla and cyanogenmod 13 would you recommend for this?
Will it work on Lineage 14.1 ?
How to Update Kernel ?
i can't believe this actually flashed correctly whitout any bootloop and more. i just have an error in nethunter terminal, as the kali shell doesn't work. it seems that "data/local/nhsystem/kali-arm64 directory does not exist!!.". guess ill try to rename, move that file or other stuffs...
Mmmh, very interesting indeed.
Think I'll try building Nethunter for my Note 3 (that's sitting unused since I moved on to Poco hardware...), when I get some spare time and am bored.
Have you tried building a custom kernel from the Samsung open-source kernel tree ? Might work better, especially if you repurpose the baseband firmware from a stock ROM.
