[Q] SM-G7106 No CWM / TWRP / Google Apps / Custom Roms - Galaxy Grand 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi All,
i have been searching for hours and tried a couple of things to get CWM and TWRP installed in SM-G7106 but to no available. SM-G7106 is a Samsung Grand 2 under China Unicom. Tried using Odin to install CWM and TWRP, despite Odin saying it passed, i still cant get into it and always goes into default Android recovery mode.
I wanted to flash a custom rom for this phone as the default rom is without google apps and cant sign / sync with google services.
I hope anyone here could shed / share some lights and hope the wonderful devs out there willing to pick up a challenge in getting this working.

any luck?
Hi.
Were you able to install cwm or twrp on 7106?
I'm also trying to (find and) install a clean or custom rom for this phone, but has been very hard. I even can't get ODIN to see the phone because it won't go to download mode.

[Q] Need help with restoring normal boot on Samsung A3

Hi everyone!
This is my first post, hope there is a solution.
I have Samsung Galaxy A3 [A300FU].
I wanted to get rid of branded firmware, so I've found stock ROM here: mrcrab.net/stockrom/sm-a300fu.html and flash it with Odin and it was ok.
Then I wanted root, so I've followed this guide: trueandroid.com/root-samsung-galaxy-a3-sm-a300f-easy-guide and now, whenever I restart the phone, it boots to the screen with yellow text: set warranty bit : recovery (file_1.jpg). Then it goes to the screen with opened green robot (file_2.jpg) and after I choose: reboot system now, it loads to OS normally.
How to fix it?
Ok guys, I don't know what happened, but I've managed to save the day
What I did was connecting my phone to KIES and select Firmware Update and Initialization from the Tools menu. It wipes all the data so be prepare for that. This helped to get rid of the yellow text on the screen while booting, but the phone still kept booting to the recovery mode.
Then I've installed TriangleAway from this thread: forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s2/orig-development/2014-01-15-triangleaway-v3-26-t1494114 but it didn't seems to work (and, by the way, it doesn't support my phone). I've also installed SuperSU from Play Store, and also didn't work, so I've uninstalled both and reboot the phone. And guess what - it booted normally, straight to the OS.
Magic.
Sooo, the solution I've provided above wasn't what I needed, because I insist to have my device rooted. That's why I started once again.
I've installed stock ROM, rooted it and the result was the same (yellow text and booting through recovery mode).
I've customized the build with 360 Security (there's many apps out there which allow uninstalling system software and bloatware). Then I've installed Team Win Recovery Project through Odin meant for Samsung Alpha (teamw.in/project/twrp2) and that was it. No more yellow text or booting to the recovery mode. Shiny clean rooted A3.

You flashed a custom recovery meant for Galaxy Alpha on Galaxy A3? Doesn't doing that bricks the device? I'm having the same problem too.

Ok, here are the steps:
Download the newest formware from sammobile and install it through Odin.
Turn off the phone and boot into recovery, wipe cache and run factory reset. I don't know if it's meaningful, but I did it and that's it.
Set up the device and turn on USB Debugging in Developer options. To make those options appear you have to open Settings, then About Phone and keep tapping on Build Number.
Download root files for your model from here: autoroot.chainfire.eu, run Odin, install it and turn on the phone.
I assume you'll get those messages like I did "Set warranty bit : recovery" and the phone will keep booting into recovery mode and from there you can boot into OS. But it's unconvenient, so I've download the TWRP files to get rid of it. At first I used files for Alpha but last time I've install recovery meant for S4 Qualcomm and it worked as well (here: twrp.me/devices/samsunggalaxys4internationalqualcomm.html).
It didn't brick my phone. It keeps going. I don't know much about devices so I didn't hesitate I just wanted root for Macrodroid
Oh and I have SD Maid to freeze unwanted apps, like preinstalled ones and those I don't use, like android e-mail app (I prefer Gmail), stock calendar S Planner (I have Sunrise, it syncs with iCal), KNOX, live wallpapers, some widgets, Fliboard, S Voice, Google Movies Music Games Newsstand Books Hangouts, Google+, Hancom Office.
* Download Odin 3.09 from here: odindownload.com (second link)

I like what you did!. Is the TWRP 2.80 or twrp2 for Samsung Alpha working in Samsung A3? I mean to say that if you go to recovery by pressing Vol Up _Power _ Home Butttons, does TWRP Recovery appears? Or the stock recovery appears and you solve only the recovery and yellow problem?
If the TWRP Recovery Appears then you can install custom roms, backup your system and data. This will be a great job done by you and many owners of Samsung A3 will be thankful to you. Please Reply because I want to test it on my mobile

Well, it seems it only solved yellow text and can't boot into recovery at all. It can't be that way! So!
I've installed unbranded software once again and was waiting to update to Lollipop via Kies. But it took so long that I couldn't resist to root, but I did it differently this time. I've found KingRoot app which works like a charm. Just download the apk [mmgr.myapp.com/myapp/Kingroot/webapp_kingroot/image/KingRoot-4.1.0.249-release-nolog-201505211812_105001.apk] from [kingroot.net/down#root], run it and voila! No hassle, no Odin. After rooting there will come up two apps: Kinguser and some app in Asian. I've uninstalled the second one - it cleans memory and stuff. Stock recovery stays untouched and booting is normal.
Hi Everyone!
I Hope There Is a Solution....
I have galaxy a500g running with stock lollipop and I need to install a custom rom so I flashed TWRP_2.8_SM-A500-LL.img and booted into recovery once it booted into recovery it struck at set warranty bit:recovery and struck at recovery loop....is there a way to install a working custom recovery for galaxy a500g
Thanks in advance

Please help needed!!
I'm stuck here for 3 days
Ok I'm going to tell everything I did,,
My Gionee E7 is indian version.
First I rooted my phone with kingo Root.
Than I flashed CWM chinese version.
I upgraded my system to kitkat and changed the recovery to stock.
I used it for a week than some how my music player and gallery were corrupted.
I don't have any rom so I download one but it was in chinese, flashed it to my gionee. than after rooting,,
I flashed the CWM, same I flashed weeks ago
Here my problem started :crying:
The CWM is not starting. I used recoery tool to boot into recovery after boot up it shows black screen. I used every method holding Vol+ and power button but the same result.
than I tired to get back to my stock recovery but it does the same.
flashed many times both recoveries but didn't worked.
I searched a lot and find a TWRP. I flashed it and wow it worked Finally I can boot into recoery mode.
Now I find the Nandroid backup of indian version. I made it a zip and flashed it through twrp.
My phone is back to indian version but its slow, not too much but its slow; camera, gallery and other apps take some time to open. I can't make or rcv phone calls. Now what i did is download the update form System update.
Now i got kitkat rom.zip but twrp failed to install it.
Some one on the internet was saying that its the problem with my Kernel. I have the latest kernel so CWM won't work cuz it uses old kernel and display drivers.
My
android version is 4.2.2
Kernel version is 3.4.0-svn2155
I also got TWRP for lolipop,
and I patched binary_update in my kitkat rom too but TWRP can't flash it

Hello my friend, please help me.
I am trying to flash stock inidan rom 4.2 but.. I installed all CWM for E7 found on the internet and I am getting black screen. I managed to Install TWRP but TWRP cannot flash the rom that I need to flash. I flashed a chinese 4.2 but is piece of garbage..
gngc-download-tool said that the com port is closed.
I have windows 64 is this the problem causing gngc not working?
No its not, it is working on 64bit windows very well.
In TWRP factory reset and format system and data, than install
Chinese 4.2 ROM. After that boot it and try it again.
It should work!

Help
I just rooted my gionee elife e7. Flashed the chinese recovery which seemed to be the only one which would be compatible. But, while changing a few setting using pimp my rom, the software just stopped working. Errors keep showing up on the screen - "system.ui is not working", "android app is not working", I cannot even go the settings because "settings is not working". Third party apps still seem to work, so, whatsap and stuff continue to function. Doing a factory reset or flashing firmware again seem to be the only viable option.
But, when I try to load up the bootloader using the power and volume keys, it gets stuck on the screen showing the gionee logo and it reads 'fastboot mode' in the bottom left hand side corner. So,
a. can you offer any advice which may be useful ?
b. can you share the link from where you got a TWRP recovery which will work on the Elife ?
c. do you have any idea what exactly went wrong here ?
Any help you can provide will be appreciated because, it's my mausi's phone and I will have a very tough time explaining what really went down here.

Jiayu S3 : Help needed to resurrect the phone..

Hi all
Thanks for taking the time to read this.
I have access to a 2nd Jiayu s3 3GB on android 4.4.4
I've never been able to connect my Jiayu s3 3GB using SP Flash Tools (some driver issues?)
My Jiayu s3 was running android 4.4.4 and when ever it felt like it, it would freeze and then reboot.
So, like a bull in a china shop.....i factory reseted (included format storage option) which now doesn't allow the phone to boot..
The phone won't boot - it starts and just sticks on the Jiayu (white logo)
Thankfully...
if i start the phone with volume up i see
Recovery Mode
Fastboot Mode
Normal boot
I've just tried Recovery mode... and i remember i set my Recovery mode to be TWRP (4pda version)
..and thankfully i can now access the recovery module!
I can also access the phone via fast boot.
i can now access the phone via ADB also - via the recovery mode - i can launch the shell and query the phone
what i would like to do :
change all the partition tables to accept android 5.1.x
flash via adb all the sections needed to install 5.1
After you're all done laughing at me .. can i please have some help?
Cheers

Nothing to laugh here, hapens to all of us. Did you try to falsh a custom 4.4 rom through recovery. You can find them on needrom. Flash that and see what happens.
Regarding flashing 5.1.x you need to atleast once flash 5.1 rom through sp tools, without that its really hard to get 5.1 running on this phone due to changed partition layout from 4.4 to 5.1
Regarding the driver problem, every problem has a solution, try to google how to properly install mtk drivers on your pc, and its fairly very easy to install them. Cheers

Hi
Some jiayu revisions need both Volume buttons to be pressed when connecting to PC
Install spflashtools
Install drivers
Download sptf Rom
Open flashtools
Press download ( choose upgrade mode if you are on KitKat and want to go to lollipop / future MM )
Turn off phone
Press and keep pressed both volume buttons
Connect cable pc-phone
Cheers

Thank you so very much!
I've downloaded and installed the :
JIAYU S3 ADVANCED (3GB version)
XPOSED version
JY-S3_Basic_20150813-Xposed.zip
JY-S3_Advanced_PatchXposed_ For_20150813_Basic_Mod_By_Gab.zip
from needrom, so good to have the phone functional again!

Help me fix my bootloop :( Xposed!

[Fixed]
Hey guys would appreciate some help.
I was trying to install Xposed and was relatively careless and didn't make any backups.
Currently i am on the latest Stock lolipop ROM for my SM-N9005, and only have a basic understanding of what I am doing.
My steps were:
1. Root via CF-Auto-Root and Odin
2. Install latest version of CWM touch via Rashr - Flash Tool - so far so good.
3. I then downloaded and flashed xposed-v67-sdk21-arm.zip via CWM and got into a bootloop.
Still have access to CWM and download mode. I would prefer not to lose all my files and apps if at all possible.
I have tried ADB sideloading Xposed-Disabler-Recovery.zip to undo any damage that Xposed had done, but it just said "no backup found for app_process nothing to be performed!"
Any ideas on how I can get my phone to working order and what has gone wrong?
Thanks!
Ant2555
Still have access to CWM
Make a backup and copy off your phone .
You should be able to recover your files from that .
Thanks for the reply.
I am using about 29gb of my 32gb storage and most of my 64Gb SD card so i fear there may not be room.
Even if there was room, I would very much prefer to not have to do a clean install if at all possible.
How would I transfer the backup to my computer after if I were to go down that route?
Use samsung kies for that

Don't worry all fixed. Downloaded the latest uninstaller and sideloaded it
Worked.

Samsung Galaxy Core Prime SM-G360P TWRP issues

Hello everyone,
I am posting today to bring up the subject of the SM-G360P variant of the Samsung Galaxy Core Prime.
I am having issues with getting TWRP custom recovery to work properly on my device. I am able to flash twrp-3.0.2-0-coreprimelte.img onto my device and it works except for 2 things that i have noticed that makes me very upset and i cant figure out what to do. When i enter recovery mode the back light does not function so i have to use a bright flashlight to see any of the options and the second problem is the GUI is upside down but the button mapping is in the proper place so i have to guess on where to tap on my screen. This makes it very frustrating to use especially when i want to wipe dalvik cache and the regular cache. I accidentally factory reset my device once by tapping the wrong spot. If anyone would be willing to help me out with my problem i am willing to be a guinea pig with anything you can try for the custom recovery to make the GUI reflect the proper button mapping and the back light to work. I can re-flash my device as many times as necessary to get a working custom recovery. I have included the recovery.fstab and the stock recovery along with the version of TWRP custom recovery i have been utilizing to an extent.
I am using the BST Australian variant of SM-G360P which can be rooted with Kingo Root and KingRoot. I used Kingo Root so i could use the SuperUser app rather than just using KingRoot. I have used CROM Service to unlock my bootloader. I have also tried to use CWM custom recovery on my device but it does not register the CWM custom recovery that is available for my device it just goes to a "fake" Odin mode screen. I would really love to get TWRP custom recovery working properly. I have tried to port both TWRP and CWM custom recoveries by using Android Image Kitchen but have not had any success at creating a recovery that works without the same issues i have with TWRP custom recovery. I am running 4.4.4 KitKat OS which is the latest update for SM-G360P and have full root permissions. If you need any other dump files or any other information i will gladly give it to you. I may need directions on how to do some things though.
I will be greatly appreciative if someone would have a look at what the problem may be with TWRP custom recovery and my Variant of SM-G360P. Please help. Thank you for your time and contribution.
Hello @sosthenisRR. I just got this device, the Boost Prevail LTE American version. I was wondering if you've made any headway finding a TWRP for it. I will be trying some things myself... Gotta have TWRP... And I wanted to let you know that if you root with kingroot, super-sume (free version) works to get you supersu.
Odin TWRP 2.8.7.0 for the SM-S820L...it works, i tried V3 as well with no favorable results.

If that doesn't work, install and run this apk, this is what finally allowed me to Odin TWRP to my G360P without errors. Now if only we could get a custom ROM for this variant...
