[Q] Netflix play/pause button shows but doesn't work? - Wear OS Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Yesterday when I cast a Netflix stream to Chromecast, I noticed that a pause/play card appeared on my watch. There's also a second screen to the right with volume controls. I don't know which app is doing that, but while the volume controls work, the play/pause button doesn't. Has anyone else seen this with Netflix, Chromecast, and Wear?

Yup, same here, exactly. Nexus 5, Moto 360, all up-to-date.

I think it's a Chromecast/Android wear interaction problem. I have the same problem using HuluPlus app, Moto X 1st gen phone, and LG G watch.

To update, the Wear card play/pause works for YouTube and Play Music on the Chromecast, but not with videos casted from Chrome browser

[Q] Nexus player streaming issue

Wondering if anyone else is having the same issue since Android 5.1 update? while streaming Showbox at the medium setting I have a grey transparent bar across the bottom. It only appears playing movies at medium streaming level, if you use Showbox you will understand what I mean. When streaming at low or high, or even tv shows I dont have the problem.
Even when I cast from my tablet to the nexus player the grey bar appears, again only with movies.
My roommate has a regular chromecast and they dont have this issue. Im trying to narrow it down to either the nexus player or some setting in my tv.
I sideloaded showbox to my nexus player via chrome browser.
I have factory reset nexus player, uninstalled and reinstalled showbox.
Im using a logitech wireless mouse to navigate showbox as well as chrome.
My tv is Samsung 32in smart.
Any ideas or help will be greatly appreciated.
Hi there,
I had the exactly the same issue.
Watched a film in high on showbox last week and it played fine.
I've since updated to 5.1 and when I played a film in high the other night it had serious buffering issues although the image was great.
Tried watching it in medium and it had the same grey bar across the bottom, I just put it down to a poor source.
I prefer to use HomeCinemaMobi, but since 5.1, the genre and search options have disappeared.
I've installed Lollirock at the weekend, but I think I preferred 5.0
I'm wondering if I can re install it?

It could be, but before doing anything else check the last 10 pages of your rom's thread to see if any other user has reported the same thing if you don't find anything try reverting your kernel to default settings to see if it solves the problem

Play YouTube vids while screen is off ""NoRoot"NoExtraApps""

Hi,
So I Discovered a way to play YouTube videos without the need of being in the youtube app, You can even play when The screen is off
# This method does not require youtube red
# No root is needed
It's actually pretty simple all you need is headphones or earphones with a pause/play Physical button.
1) Plug in the headphones
2) Play any youtube video from the youtube app.
3) Press your home button or switch off your screen, But don't remove youtube from memory.
4) Now all you need to do is click the Physical play button in your headphones.
Idk if it does work on other devices. But it worked on mine
LG G5 (H850) running nougat
It wont work long as its just a bug

Song skipping while using bluetooth

i am facing this issue that when i play songs using google play music or retro music ( if you want find it on play store) it skips a few second of music , i have tried different ear phone , head phones and speakers , this issue is only when playing with bluetooth connected devices.
Also i have a song app called savan , it is kindof like spotify+ and when i play songs with it , it works fine without any skipping.

Hi, I know this thread is a bit older, but I just want to mention, that I have the same issue on a OP5T.
It happens on every music app I've tested - Shuttle, Google Play Music, Phonograph, BlackPlayer, Impulse, Retro Music, Eon, Pulsar.
But it only appears when I skip the song with the apps 'skip-song-button' and when Wifi is turned on.
That means with off-screen gestures or Wifi turned off it works as it should on my side, that's not a fix but a rather a bad workaround.
It is due to the devices not being completely compatible with bluetooth 5.0. Its hardware sided dont worry about it. Just wait for BT 5.0 devices such as this: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/...i-true-wireless-headphones-audio-technology#/

mine skipped the song with gestures as well !! and it doesn't matter if wifi was on or off ... but now after the oreo update it is working just fine ...maybe the other music player that i installed did some changes in the library to get gapless playback and when i upgraded the device the libraries got back to normal !

Moto G5 Plus and Chromecast

Hi. I have Moto G5 Plus and I'm going to buy Chromecast. I have 2 questions:
1. When I cast movie from YouTube or Netflix, does screen on my Moto have to be turned on or I can turn off screen to save battery?
2. Battery. Does casting Tales much battery from Moto G5 Plus while it streams for 2 hours? 5%, 10%?

1. Short: Yes you can turn off the screen of your moto.
Long: The phone sends a link to the video file to the chromecast and the chromecast starts streaming. The phone only controls the streaming (pause, stop.. etc.)
2. Casting takes like 5%-10% since your phone is actively following the stream for pausing/stop/start etc.

My experience with streaming to Chromecast (actually, a "cast" compatible TV) is that casting a 2 hour movie, provided the screen is off and your not using your device for other things, takes very little battery, maybe 1-2% more than normal since the device is active and cannot sleep. Of course, this varies based on signal strength, background tasks, etc. The G5+ is very battery friendly.
What about Spotify? Can I steam music from Spotify to TV (via HDMI) or Spotify is compatible only with Chromecast Audio?
