flash custom kernel on samsun stock - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello guys.... i would like to know is there is a way to flash a custom kernel without odin..... i tried some kernels but they fail in verification when i update from the recovery directly...also when i flash any kernel from odin it doesnt seem to change the kernel when i flash another over it.... what i mean is i flash philz kernel via odin and now when i want to change the kernel i flash it successfully....and after a reboot i still get philz touch interface.. could anyone help me....

Your story makes no sense.
- Philz is a recovery NOT a kernel.
- You can't flash a custom kernel with Odin.
- If you want to remove the custom recovery, just flash a stock rom.

Best recovery option for rooted stock S4?

I have an i9505 running stock Android 4.2.2 (JDQ39.I9505XXUBMF8) - rooted using CF-Auto-Root (jflte-jfltexx-gti9505 IIRC). My battery life is poor, and I was hoping that a ROM upgrade to 4.3 would help, but haven't flashed a ROM for a while. I was wondering if anyone could answer the following:
- First of all I guess I need to flash a recovery using Odin? Would Philz Touch Recovery be the best option, or is there a basic, more reliable Recovery mod?
- If I want to retain warranty, would it be best to flash a non-Knox ROM such as Omega v18? (which I believe leaves the original bootloader intact?)
- How can I tell whether or not I need to flash a new modem?
Is there anything else I should be careful/aware of when flashing the Recovery mod and ROM?

1. You can use either Philz recovery or twrp
2. If you want to retain a warranty You need to flash this http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23050663588004454 (Its a 4.2.2 pre-rooted rom) then download Triangle away to reset the binary and sent it for repair incase.
3. If you flash a Custom rom Omega, Golden, Echo, etc. you need to Flash a new 4.3 based modem to fix any data drop issues.
4. Never flash any 4.3 stock firmware from samsung via odin. =Newbootloader = Knox void warranty

Thanks for that. Do I flash the modem using Odin AFTER flashing the new ROM, or before flashing the ROM?

Actually it doesnt matter or you can just flash the modem and then the custom rom you want (Make sure to full wipe when your flashing any rom via recovery )and here's a modem http://www.mediafire.com/download/48r0rgqv25s8968/GSM_Modem_XXUEMFK_and_LTE_Modem_XXUBMH1.rar, download then extract and flash it via odin by selecting phone Make sure to turn of your phone manually before flashing via odin. Once your done check if your baseband version change into MKE . Have a nice day.

[Q] how to flash custom roms?

how to flash custom roms from stock?
is your device rooted
do you have odin installed on a PC
Do you have a custom recovery installed
First, you'll have to root your device, preferably by Towelroot (if you want to keep your warranty) or CF Auto-Root (if you don't care about Knox and your warranty), then install a recovery, preferably TWRP, then flash your desired ROM via TWRP. Good luck and have fun with your rooted device!

You don't need root to flash custom rom.
You need only custom rcovery to flash rom.
Download custom recovery (CWM or TWRP) for your device. Flash it with the Odin.
Then boot into recovery and flash custom rom from there (follow the instruction for each custom rom).

Does flashing a KDZ rom remove custom recovery?

Hi everyone..
I would like to know if you have a rooted device with custom recovery installed, then flashed a KDZ rom with flash tool, does this remove the custom recovery and replace it with stock recovery?
And If the answer is yes, is there anyway to flash KDZ while keeping custom recovery intact?
Thanks in advance
Yes.
Flash zipped stock roms in recovery.

I'm Confused with arter97 Recovery ?

Hi ...
I'm a little confused about how to flash arter97 Recovery on G928I
Do I just install this from Odin ?
Thanks
Yes. But make sure to go to recovery directly after flashing the recovery and flash arter97's kernel and SuperSu Zip instead of booting the device. Otherwise the recovery will be reverted back to the stock one.

need custom rom g900h

hello..
i need a cutom rom for galaxy s5 g900h but it must be (.tar.md5) to flash with odin not by intalling from recovery mod...pleaaaaaaase..thanks
usually tar file is a firmware... you can easily find a customed recovery, don't contradict it.
You can't install custom ROMs via Odin, it doesn't work that way, only stock ROMs work with Odin, just install a recovery and flash the ROM, not that difficult. Google is always there to help.
I need rom for lntex slice 2
You can't do that, sorry. Just go through with it on recovery.
