I was wondering if there is a way to tell if the bootloader is unlocked on a S5 without flashing anything or using cf-auto-root both of which may brick the phone. While it is a G900P it is from Credo Mobile (a Sprint MVNO) rather than Sprint themselves.
You must have to flash custom recovery in order to unlock the bootloader.
You can use Philz recovery.

Hi, I bought an unlocked the mobile note 3, rooted with the 4.4.2 and I want to get lollipop. So I downloaded the latest release for n900t from sammobile to install with Odin but I have a question. If I upgrade in this way I'll lost the free sim unlocked? Sorry if is it a stupid question
When unlocking a phone, there are usually two separate things this can mean; either an unlocked bootloader or an unlocked SIM. Both are unlocked (via software/code) on a hardware level, if I'm not mistaken, as I've heard of folks unlocking their SIMs and flashing all sorts of ROMs with no issues. If it's all the same, unless you're flashing to a firmware that's not downgrade-able, you can also make a full backup, in case it turns out that the flash *does* re-lock it; That way, you can always revert back to your backup.

Ok thanks you
Ok, so I'm technically a new user on XDA although it's not the first time I've read through things here and been relatively successful with rooting and flashing different ROMs. I made an account recently because just reading is no longer helping me
Anyway, I'm trying to unlock the bootloader on the Galaxy S5 G900F model. I've been able to install Philz Touch Recovery and gotten root access, but I still can't flash a ROM because the bootloader is locked. I can't seem to find a method, specifically for G900F, but I've tried several methods already including the following:
[GUIDE] Unlocking the Galaxys S5 Bootloader … | Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 5
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ve...t/rd-unlocking-galaxys-s5-bootloader-t3337909
- All 4 methods don't work which isn't surprising since this is for G900V, the Verizon one.

- Same problem as above, it's for G900V
Twrp, Root And Bootloader Unlock For Samsung Galaxy S5 - Droid School
http://www.droidschool.com/twrp-root-bootloader-unlock-samsung-galaxy-s5/
- This one just frustrated me because I knew the fastboot method didn't work on Samsung phones, but I tried it anyway.
I've also tried using the CF-AutoRoot flashed through Odin, but that ended up failing too.
If anybody can point me in the right direction or something, it would be very much appreciated.
G900F is int'l, so its bootloader is unlocked from the factory. G900V, the verizon model has a locked bootloader. Decide if you have a G900F or G900V.
Hi, I own a rooted , carrier-unlocked GALAXY S5 SM-G900S outside korea. I want to install TWRP and flash custom roms but i don't know if my phone bootloader is locked before i proceed. I've searched through the forums but couldn't find any relevant answer.
I basically want to know if the GALAXY S5 SM-G900S has a locked or unlocked bootloader ?
and can i proceed to install twrp/flash custom roms?
Your bootloaders is unlocked just make sure the OEM unlock is on in your developer options.
Thanks
I have a note 3 with stock lollipop rom model n900w8 which is the canadian note 3 version. I just want to know if it will be sim locked again if I installed a custom rom like magma or darklord?
PS. I don't know if it was sim locked before, I just got it sim unlocked already.
Additional question: can I just go back to stock kitkat from stock lollipop without rooting?
How was it sim unlocked? With an unlock code, the phone should be permanently unlocked regardless of flashing a custom ROM or upgrading bootloaders and modems.

Most likely it will never re-lock itself
Every phone that I got from a carrier and subsequently unlocked via code, including the n900w8, or a free method (i.e. Samsung note 2, s3, s4) has never relocked after flashing a stock or custom ROM.
Help.... I have a ATT Samsung with Verizon G935U When I changed my op system to Verizon G935U I thought that it was unlock...boy was i wrong i am still locked down. I need to install TWRP so i can install custom roms. Can anyone help me with TWRP or am i locked down for good? Where is safestrap?
Alright so ANY phone in general from ATT or Verizion they are always going to lock the bootloader. So for 935U when it says unlocked it means carrier unlocked meaning you can use it on any US carrier (Tmobile,Sprint,Verizon,ATT,etc) that doesn't mean the bootloader is unlocked. ALL US s7 and s7 edge have the bootloader locked (whether it was Samsung choice or carriers idk) and there is no way to unlock it. So any Samsung phone that was made after the s7 just buy the international variant bc those bootloaders are unlocked and can have TWRP and custom rims installed, however you can still get root here's the link to the thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-s7-edge/how-to/root-method-nougat-t3566978
Sorry to disappoint you dude☹
