Hi
Is there a way I can make an app think my phone is a note 4 other than flashing a port of a note 4 ROM?
I have tried to update the model in build.prop but it doesn't seem to work.

This is available stock on N9005, you didn't post which version you have, so no one can tell you about yours.

I dont think its possible without root. With root you can easily do this with wanamxposed.
Hi ive had a note 3 since release and love it I dont have a pc to root my phone and was wondering is there a way to root it without a pc I rooted my note 2 without one.....the reason I want to root is the s5 rom its very nice.....you guys are great and always have the answers thank you.Brian.

this is a very interesting question, Ive thought about that as well but search on Google shows you can't do that.

I have Samsung Galaxy Note 4 SM-N916S Exynos Version
I just want to know if we can use different firmware on my SM-N916S, because the camera shutter doesnt have any toggle to turn on or off, its always ON, i've tried to Mute the phone completely and it still has the shutter sound on it. Anyone knows if we can use other firmware from sammobile.com?

Hi I have s5 g906k and before I had the same problem as you and I tried the following steps and now my shutter sound can be on/off. So for you guys who don't have the shutter sound working, just do like this(your phone must be rooted):
Using root browser open system/csc/others.xml and verify if you have this line <CscFeature_Camera_ShutterSoundMenu>true</CscFeature_Camera_ShutterSoundMenu>
Its value must be "true" and then follow these steps :
1- Download SQlite editor
2-install SQLite Editor and give it the permission
3-Open it and find Settings storage and click on it
4-Click on settings.db and then click on system
5-on the top click on the icon search to search "camera" and then find csc_pref_camera_forced_shuttersound_key and then edit its value from 1 to 2. That's all

Hello everyone. I bought a Galaxy Note 4 N910P one week ago. And then I recognized that it doesn't have mobile data quick access in notification on Android 5.1.1
I searched Google and Samsung says it is general error on android 5.1.1 of any devices. Samsung promised that they will fix it in the future. I think that I can't wait for them. So anybody in here can tell me how to solve the problem? Thanks so much
I gained that notification by flashing SaintZ93's OBAR rom for 5.1.1 and then clicking Add all notification toggles inside the idoneapps application. This gives you all possible notifications and the one you are looking for. Not sure how else you would do it besides tripping the knox counter and rooting/flashing.

You can add that toggle yourself on pretty much any ROM by using SqLite Editor and accessing the settings.db really no need to flash a different ROM.

If you follow news you seen that note 7 phones will be deactivated from Samsung. Like a lot of people I flashed my bote 4 phone with note 7 rom and received a message from Samsung asking to send it back.
Will it be a problem if I use it like this or will Samsung really deactivated it or even if it's a note 4 ( imei different?)
Which rom are u using dude? and ur model? I have tried all ported roms on 910G and didn't receive such notification.

I think, Samsung needs to send an update to Note 7 phones, so they can block them. Rooted phones are unable to receive official updates. Custom roms are rooted as well, so there is nothing to worry. If there is another way they are using to stop Note 7 phones working, then; open root explorer open the build.prop in text editor and just change the model number. If they can block a phone by using the IMEI number as it is rumored then there is nothing to worry, your IMEI shows that the phone is Note 4... Note 7 roms are making my Note 4 heat too much anyway...

Thank you for the info.
Most of the time my Note 4 is OK on the N7 ROM. Some times during hard work, it does get very hot. But I can live with it.
Samsung can't block phones with IMEI. Only your network provider can block your IMEI. And like stated the firmware doesn't come with an IMEI so you have nothing to worry about
I've gotten a message about the software on this device will be modified to prevent the galaxy note 7 from charging. The phone will no longer work as a mobile device. I attached a screenshot. Not sure if they can do that or not. I have a custom n7 rom on my note 4 so I'm not worried.

Nothing will happen. It's only if a note 7 does an ota update. Which you can't do as it's not a note 7 and it's rooted. Don't worry

Yeah that's what I figured. I'm like, I don't have a note 7, obviously. If developers could they should get rid of those pop ups cause I was not sure the first time I flashed a note 7 rom on my phone. I was reading someone elses concern stating that their carrier blocked their number because they thought they had a note 7. Im using a new note 7 rom and this is v5 of it so I would think the annoying pop ups would be gone. Thanks for responding!!

Yeah I already read about changing the model number in the build.prop file but haven't done that cause it doesn't really bother me. I just wanted to get rid of those pop ups so I turned off samsung push notifications. Thanks!
