Rooted, can no longer receive MMS - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshootin

I installed root with towelroot and installed safe strap recovery 3.72. I have frozen a lot of bloatware with titanium backup as well. I'm not using any custom roms either. I've messed around with my APN settings yet none of the ones I try work. I only receive MMS as soon as I restart, all at once. Everything after that shows up as downloadable but always fails to download. Any ideas?

something you froze. Root by itself won't cause that problem

[Q] no wifi after unrooting

so i was running cm 10.1 and i no longer wanted it so i did a restore from a backup i did before i flashed the rom, but the wifi no longer worked so i unrooted and went back to stock and the wifi still doesnt work and now i get a warning saying something about i have to reboot now or later and it keeps popping up, help please?
The pop up is because you are rooted. And that is Knox. You have. To use a root browser and go to system/apps and delete or add .bak to the KNOX apk.

New to rooting/flashing, first smart phone,a few questions.

I got an s4 early this summer. I quickly rooted(back on mdk) and really only used it for some basic tasker things and light flow, disabling bloatware, etc. That is as far as my experience goes. What I want to do is to get the latest software update and maintain my root, without loosing all my apps, settings, data, and photos, messages, etc. I can't update through the phone's software update, it gives me an error message along the lines of "error occurred, no changes have been made". I have tried to figure out how to update and backup on my own, but I'm a bit confused as to the differences in backups. I don't know the difference between titanium backups, cwm, twrp, and nandroid. I don't have experience with Odin besides rooting originally. I also would like to have my device status back to normal/original if possible, so I can continue to update ota if I want. I am still running mdk.
Any help with this would be apreciated.

And doing a factory reset would delete all of my settings and apps and photos as well? And which method do you use to get root on the new software?

[Q] Sorry, no suitable apn info available... ?

Hello, XDA. I'm a long time user (unregistered), have flashed many ROMs successfully on various phones, but this one's got me stumped.
My girlfriend just switched from her iPhone to a Galaxy S4 on the Sprint network. To show her the wonderful world of Android, I showed her all the customizable ROMs and such, and she wanted to hop on board. So I did a nandroid backup, full wipe, the works, like I have many times before without any issue. We decided to go with the Darthstalker S4 Version 9.
We got it up and running, beautifully might I add, with absolutely no issues... until today. Her phone will make and receive calls and texts. But she cannot access the internet, send or receive MMS. I looked through her phone and found nothing out of the ordinary, so I figured a reboot may do the trick. Rebooted, and went to go to the Firefox app to test the internet, when suddenly, this small info box appeared and faded at the bottom of the screen:
"Sorry, no suitable apn info for your sim card, operator is"
Mind you, it appears and fades very quickly, I used Hot Reboot numerous times so the dialog would appear enough times so I could read it. Strangely, it ends at "operator is" and nothing else. To my understanding, APNs are for use with phones using SIM cards. So why is this happening suddenly? Nothing has changed and nothing else has been flashed besides the 100% Transparent AccuWeather Widget. I've been fighting with this for hours now and it seems to beyond my capability of understanding at this point. So, I'm turning it over to you. Can anyone explain to me why this is happening?
Sorry for the long post. I just wanted to get the whole story in so no further questions needed to be asked ("Did you dirty flash" "Choose appropriate carrier in AROMA" etc) so we can move on to the real issue.
Thank you in advance.
That rom is based on T-Mobile. Its known to cause issues with data and MMS. Did you try to back up Apns on a working sprint ROM , then restore those APNs on Darthstalker ?

I still have the nandroid backup of the Stock MF9 ROM that I rooted. I'm going to make a nandroid backup of the current Darthstalker so I can just go back to it when I restore the stock ROM.
The bizarre thing is I cant seem to locate APN anywhere in the settings on her phone. I have the AT&T variant of the Galaxy S3 myself, and I know where it is located there. I figured it would be the same, but I have searched every inch of the settings and found no APN options. That said, where could I find this? I know there are APN related apps, but I've never used them.
On a working sprint native touchwiz ROM. Downlaod system app mover and APN backup frothe the play store. Now open up system app. Give super user permission and make APN backup a system app. Then you will have to reboot . after doing so open up APN backup and hot menu then disable ICS check. Now make a backup.
From here you can flash or restore darthstalker ROM. Download those two apps again, and open up system app and give it su permission, make APN backup a system app. Reboot. Open APN restore, and restore APNs from you backup. Reboot and you should be done with data. Let me know if MMS works after this. If not there is a way you can change some things up with gosms pro to use mms

Sorry for the late reply, been a busy day. She gets off work in an hour so when she gets home I'll try this and report back here. Thank you so much for your help. It's very greatly appreciated.

How do I get rid of the system update notification on my Sprint G2?

Sent from my LG-LS980 using xda app-developers app
Well for me over on T-Mobile I either uninstall the update centre apk with titanium backup or flash a custom stock rom. But only problem is that say if something goes wrong example if you uninstall system keyboard and get forced to do a reset. On booting up you won't have the keyboard and might be in a jam especially when you need 1 to enter wifi password and mobile apn lol my t mobile g2 got an error and even tho I flashed back to stock the keyboard and a Lotta stuff I deleted are still not there and the phone senses it as an error and reboots after every 20 seconds upon booting okai good luck.

if you are able to flash roms then make sure you do a full wipe which is system/dalvik/cache/data. then install the rom. this should give you everything you have with stock including your keyboard.
Or you can just long press the notification go to app info and uncheck the show notification box

Chase Bank App

So after updating to NC2 Kitkat all apps are functioning as one would expect, save for one: the Chase Bank app. I repeatedly try to log in and it accepts my credentials, forwards me to a confirm identification by using an authorization code screen. From there I click email/text/call to get an authorization code which comes promptly.
The problem is when I enter it in, it accepts it then spits an error station that my accepted login credentials are incorrect (they're not) and I'm rerouted back to the login screen to repeat the cycle in futility.
Now what's odd is if I go to the mobile site using ANY browser on my phone (stock browser, chrome, Firefox, opera, tried em all) it will do the SAME thing. However, the moment I click "use desktop mode" and try to log in using the full site, it works perfectly, no hiccups whatsoever.
So, this means something on my phone is blocking the use of the mobilized versions of Chase's site. My first thought was my ad blocker. I disabled that completely and uninstalled it, rebooted, and still no dice.
Any ideas? Had anyone else had this same experience? I'm running stock, rooted, de-odexed Kitkat NC2 for reference. No tweaks aside from Wanam via Xposed framework.
Another thought was maybe it's checking my root status as ISIS Mobile Wallet does. Thus I downloaded a root cloak (aptly called rootcloak in Xposed download section) for just such apps. Alas, this too is not the problem.

Im on nc4 non rooted device and the app works flawlessly. Not sure if this helps you just adding my .02 A lot of the lil bugs I encountered were gone after a full reset. maybe u should try it.

I'm using NC4 rooted and Chase is working fine for me. I never had to verify though because I restored the app from titanium backup. It may be obvious but did you try clearing the app data? Maybe you have a backup to restore from when it was working?
Edit: Rereading your post, I also successfully used Chase on NC2. Also, you can use Titanium Backup to restore an app and data from a nandroid backup if you didn't backup through titanium.
