[Q] N9005 permissions broken? - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there everyone. I just looked for a post with this problem, but didn't found, so here you go.
I have a international Note 3 N9005 (bought in Brazil) with the latest unbranded Brazilian firmware 4.4.2. I have flashed CM and some other roms, rooted etc. But in the end I flashed back the original rom from SanMobile, via Odin.
The problem is:
1. Some settings are not saved. I can only choose pattern in lock screen security, I can't choose pin or password or the settings app freeze or crash.
2. On the contacts app, from which contacts to display, I choose only contacts from Google. When the cellphone restarts, it shows all contacts again (sim, phone, google, etc)
3. GPS only locks when data is turned off or in airplane mode.
SM-N9005
4.4.2
Baseband Version: N9005VJUENC1
Build Number: KOT49H.N9005VJUGNI1 (Brazil)
I flashed this firmware via Odin and tried a factory reset in the original recovery but no success.
I don't know why but I think this is a permission problem. I don't need root right now. I can restore with Kies if that would solve this problem.
Any ideas on the matter are appreciated.
Thanks!

Your baseband don't match with your build number. Reflash the latest firmware android 4.4.2 for Brazil Unlocked: HERE via ODIN. Sometimes is necessary flash 2 times the firmware for fix the baseband. Good luck

Thank you! Will try that and give feedback.

[Q] Need help wifi / stock ROM N900

Hi guys,
First I wanna say that I have samsung phone since a long time, if I post here that means I already search around xda and web to find answers.
So let me explain my situation :
I have a note 3 SM-N900 (not the 4G, not the dual SIM), buy here in China. It's a real one don't worry about that.
I wanted to update the ROM (from sammobile firmware) and here start the problems :
AP: N900ZSUDNB1
CP: N900XXUBMI2
CSC: N900OZSDNB1
I cannot find any ROM who match 100% on sammobile website ! The closest one is the one from Singapore. I dld it.
So I try to update with ODIN and fail.
I try many versions, but each time ODIN fail in the process.
Then my phone was stuck with the screen fail update connect to KIES etc... But of course this solution is not working (KIES 2&3).
And moreover my KNOX counter now is 1. I don't really care about warranty so that doesn't matter.
Then I try to use CF autoroot with ODIN and here sucess ! My phone was booting again !
But now I cannot use wifi anymore ! So I try to wipe data / cache...
Now Wifi is working but very slowly and each time I want to connect it asks me the password for the wifi.
I try to install Custom ROM but in in the bootloader my phone cannot see the sd memory...
So I am a little confused about all this version on Note3...
What can I do to update my phone with the lastest STOCK ROM (100% working) ???
Thanks
No one ?
Try flashing another stock ROM through Odin since you phone is booted up again. And make sure you have the latest Odin. I believe the latest is 3.0.9.

[Q] Cannot update to lollipop using FOA

First things first, I am not very techy and am only trying to accomplish one goal on my galaxy s5 - update to lollipop.
I'm trying to do it by going to Settings --> About device --> Software Update. Everytime I try it check's for updates and says 'The Latest Updates have already been installed'.
My device is unrooted and running Android 4.4.2 and is unlocked. My brother bought the exact same phone and got the update over FOA more than a month ago!
I can't find anywhere on the internet to help me out, I don't want to update manually.. I wan't to know why my device won't update automatically.
Any thoughts on what I can try? Does it need a factory reset? Has anyone else got this issue? Help much appreciated.
sorry my friend the only way is to manually update it using odin on computer.
but, you can try to connect your mobile with kies and see your csc country then look in sammobile website if your country csc got lollipop, if so try to factory reset and then check for an update , but first make backup of your data.

But why won't it update via FOA? Is this a common thing where Samsung picks and chooses who gets it (seems kinda wrong), or is it possible I've got a fake phone? I've got a lot of stuff on the phone and don't really wanna go through the whole backup system restore process. I type on google my problem and it just comes up with stupid articles like 'How's lollipop treating you'.. it's like nobody has my problem but me?
Did some more digging around and found the following info for my phone:
AP: G900FXXU1ANJ1
CP: G900FXXU1ANJ1
CSC: G900FOXX1ANJ1
Searching the CSC on Sammobile tells me that the latest version for my phone is still 4.4.2 (not even 4.4.4?? It's like Samsung forgot about it).
Oddly, it says the country is Portugal (TPH) for this CSC, even though I bought a UK phone. This prompted me to check the IMEI on IMEI.info which confirms that the phone is legit..
I downloaded keys at it tells me the firmware version is:
PDA:NJ1 / CSC:NJ1 / PHONE:NJ1(TPH)
It says the latest firmware is already installed.
I'm wondering if my phone will ever get updated to lollipop (the fact that its still on 4.4.2 tells me maybe never). So I want to try and do this manually. Is there a way to change the country code? Will this void my warranty? Or can I manually force lollipop onto the phone via Kies? Do I need to root?
Some clear instruction for me to follow would be much appreciated. Thanks guys

yes it is... but i want lollipop .. will it void it? If yes thats ok Ill go ahead anyway
Rather than focusing on the goal of upgrading to lollipop, do some research about whether you actually want/need to.......
Quite a few members have posted here about problems and instabilities with lollipop.
Also, if you intend to root your device and tweak/modify it, the general advice is to stay at 4.4.2, as 5.0.0 tends to 'reduce the possibilities'......

I have no idea if it will void the warranty. When I flashed my device to 5.0 with the Polish release my CSC changed to XEO from H3G and my knox is still 0x0. What is your carrier? Head over to sammobile.com and download the rom corresponding to your carrier, and flash it as normal.

^^ I am currently flashing back to 4.4.2 so my stability and battery life isn't wrecked. I would also recommend staying on KitKat.
5.0.0 seems to be (by all accounts) a bit of a 'rush job'......
5.0.1 and/or 5.0.2 will be more polished and stable.....
Also Samsung have (from what I've read) included a new 'secure' bootloader with 5.0 and beyond, which apparently is causing 'issues'.........

The latest firmware for Portugal TPH is 4.4.2, Lollipop for that region has not been released yet.
If your brother has 5.0 on his phone with UK firmware than he most likely has BTU firmware
You can update yours to BTU which as actually a UK & Europe generic multi CSC firmware from Sammobile here. LINK
You will need to download it you will need Odin to do it, but after installing you will need to do a factory reset otherwise you CSC will not change and the phone will be unstable
Lollipop 5.0 for me is extremely stable and battery life far better than any other version I have had, screen clip below shows 2 days 20 hours since last charge and phone at 62% this is with light usage though

Hi ag4751.. this sounds good.. I will get odin and try this. Do you mind being more specific about the factory reset? Is this something I do within settings or do I need to do that volume up power off button thing and access the function from there? Also (probably silly question) but does factory resetting completely wipe all my data and apps? thanks

Yes, factory reset will basically wipe you apps, data everything so backup everything, pictures, music etc, anything that is on your internal storage your External SD Card wont be touched everything else will, It resets the phone to the out of the box condition so if for example you are on level 300 in candy crush unless its synced up to facebook you will be back at level 1.
You do the Factory reset through Settings > User and Backup > Backup and Reset.
You will need to enable Developer Options in About Device if not already done as you need to enable USB Debugging.
Factory resetting is a last resort normally but it does tend to clear a lot of problems if the phone is not working properly but do it after you have flashed the new rom.
This is a good guide to using Odin, its on the S3 forum but the procedure is exactly the same with the S5, If you download the BTU rom it will contain a single .tar file you need to extract that from the zip file.
Reply here is you have any other questions regarding flashing with Odin it is simple but if you are not used to it, it can be worrying.
Cool. I'm downloading the firmware now. I've got USB debugging enabled. A question about the factory reset though. Is there a reason why we do this within Settings and not by pressing the power-->volume down--> home button and accessing those options? Under that menu there is also a 'wipe cache' option. Basically I was planning to flash the firmware using odin, then immediately factory reset and wipe cache before actually loading up lollipop. Does that sound ok?

You can do it that way, the only reason Factory Reset is in setting is to save you having to boot into recovery to do it, its exactly the same, there are additional wipe options in recovery such as cache and the factory reset, a factory reset will wipe the cache as well when its run you don't need to do it separately.
If you want to wipe the cache and factory reset from recovery it wont hurt anything.

Mobile data not working after lollipop update

Hi guys!
Ok I live in Bangladesh and have a GT-I9505 which was brought from UK. It ran just fine until I flashed Singtel's lollipop 5.0.1 update. Ever since then, my mobile data just won't work. It turns on but that's it, no signal ever comes. Everything else still works fine, so I'm wondering if I flashed UK's EE 5.0.1 would my mobile data start working again?
Secondly, exactly how am I supposed to flash the firmware through odin (total noob here)? Is there any risk of bricking my device while flashing?

Install this APP and add screenshots (IMEI not necessary).
Sent from my GT-I9505 using XDA Free mobile app
The XDA app won't let me post images for some reason.
That app says my phone's country of origin is China. CSC code is GT-I9505ZWASIN. Original CSC code, firmware csc code and active csc code are all SIN.
Bootloader, baseband amd PDA version are all I9505ZHUHOC3.

Galaxy S5 unroot.

Hi guys and gals.
I'm in a slight trouble with my Galaxy S5. I'm trying to restore it to official firmware, after the previous owner made a poor rooting on it, and, it's acting weird. I downloaded the official firmware (G900FXXU1BOC7), but, Odin keeps on giving me Fail. I enabled USB debugging, and tried different cables, different USB ports. And it's didn't work. Now, I read that I need the same firmware or more recent than the one currently installed on my phone, so I downloaded Phone INFO, and it gives me weird info. It suddenly says that the Phone Model is:
SM-G900P
PDA Version: G900PVPU3BOG1
CSC Version: G900PSPT1BOA6
Baseband Version: G900PVPU3BOG1
(Which a quick search led me to believe that this is a CyanogenMod rom)
But in the Phone Settings > About, It says:
Model Number: SM-G900F
BASEBAND VERSION: G900FXXU1BOC7.
I am sure that this is the G900F model. So, now, how do I restore it to an original firmware?
Go to download mode and see what model it is.

It says G900P.
Then you have the P variant (no matter what the settings say).....this is turning into a fairly common issue on the S5 forums....
http://i.imgur.com/rVnFwJM.jpg
Then, I just have to install stock G900P firmware, right?

For future searches. I just flashed it with the official G900P firmware. The latest there was.

I'm new, need help with rooting my Galaxy Note 3 SM-N900V

My Samsung Galaxy Note 3 (Android 4.4.4) is SM-N900V, however in the settings, it says that the model number is SM-N9005 and the baseband version is N9005XXUGBOA1.
My primary aim is to upgrade my phone to Lollipop(Touchwiz), also there is no option for system updates in the Settings.
Tried using Odin to flash official rom from Sammobile but Odin says NAND WRITE FAIL. tried all sorts of solutions such as using a diffrent version of Odin and changing the cable etc but nothing seemed to work.
Also, for root, tried different apps and CF auto root but no luck.
