Don't try to reset knox, there is no solution yet

We're not trying to reset knox 0x1 to 0x0. We're trying to get rid of new flash counter in ( ).
Since beginning it was (0) now I have (4)

Have you tried to flash stock 4.4.2? It Has to work cuzz kitkat dosent support thoose 2 things (secure download and that knoxcounter).

No, but It probably won't help.
IMO You can downgrade system, but not the bootloader. It will stay as it is on Lollipop.

Could someone please clarify a rooting/firmware rollback question

Have updated my stock I9505 to JDQ39/MH8 and was wandering if I were to root and install something like CM10 or GE 4.3 rom, I will be unable to rollback to stock TW 4.2.2?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
Of course mister you can. Why not?
But keep in mind that you can rollback only on MH8 stock firmware and not on previous cause new bootloader.
Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk 4
That's great. Thanks. Just wanted to make sure I could go back to stock touchwiz should any of the rooms not be for me.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
your warranty will be void
and for now you cant roll back to warranty, knox warranty void counter will show 1 and there is no way to reset it so far
This has become a bit of a pain hasn't it. Think I may sit this out untill a workaround is sorted.
Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk 2
Apparently the new counter can't be reset, so once you do something to change the system (root etc) your warranty will be voided. For ever.

How can I check Knox counter?
[[]]
If you've updated to the new firmwares, just boot into download mode. You'll see it there.
Thing is, Chainfire said that it is based on an e-fuse, so it can't be reseted.

[Q] Triangle away doesn't reset flash counter. Please help

I have galaxy s4 and wanted to reset flash counter with triangle away . After doing all the steps and I rebooted the phone the triangle away flash counter still show 9 . How come ? Why does it still show 9 and not 1 ?
Any help will be appreciated .
It will most likely be because you're not using stock recovery or kernel

So it means if I go back to stock rom and kernel ,it will reset flash counter to zero and not if i am trying to reset on a already custom rom ?

It won't work you must have stock kernel, stock recovery
You need to flash pre-rooted stock fw with odin, then use triangle away to reset counter. After that you can flash non rooted stock fw with odin to get your phone back to stock, if that is what you want.

Make sure that you absolutely know what you are doing, I dont want you to brick your deivce or trip knox flag.
If you are still with fw that has OLD bootloader without knox flag, then you can use this one: http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23050663588004454
But if you already have bootloader with knox, then I am not one to help you. After reseting my counter and flashing stock fw, I ota updated my phone to newer fw that has knox bootloader and I've been with stock since then.
Oh and btw, you have i9505 right?

Yes I have I9505 model. I am on new bootloader as I updated my phone with MH8 firmware and got 0x1 knox warranty void. Doesnt really care about losing warranty because I have always handled my phone carefully.

Good question, I am coming from the EVO Lte, and am new to Samsung. So I am a little curious as well.
I have the same question. I've searched the forums and can't find a definite answer. Some say you can flash back to stock and accept OTAs with Knox still tripped, while others say that Knox being 0x1 will disable OTAs completely.

I think OTAs will not work, but you can still update via Kies.

Thanks for the info. That won't be a problem for me, but if I ever end up selling the device, I guess I'll have to explain the situation to the potential buyer. I've read there's an OTA out of the box on some devices, and mine will be here tomorrow. I was gonna play around with it completely stock just in case I have any issues and have to send it back. Once I'm sure I'm keeping it, if there is an update, I'll root first and then flash back to see what happens. I'll update this thread with my results.

Based on my experience with my siii and other samsung devices it's more or less:
1) Make sure kies is up to date (I usually get prompted, otherwise go to "information>check for updates" at the top of kies)
2) plug in your phone (if you have pin or some other security system make sure you unlock it and on the home screen)
3) You should see the device under connected devices
4) At this point I usually get prompted, if you don't make sure the device is selected and look under "firmware information" and it should either allow you to update or tell you the device is up to date.
I rooted my s5 after 1 week, of course Knox status has changed and ota is not working, because Rom status is custom. After doing factory reset ota is working, as well as Rom status is official. I have to mention that I did rooting because of blocking ads and unwanted apps, so I do not use any custom Rom.hope this could help to understand Knox and ota difficulties.

So was rooting preserved after you did a factory reset? Was the knox counter status back to 0 or was it still tripped

I am still rooted after factory reset via stock Rom. Knox status is tripped. Afaik there is not known solution how to reset Knox to previous state now.

Can someone please explain to me what is this KNOX and what does it do. How can I check its status?!
It's like the triangle on various Samsung devices. From what I understand, it will display a message or counter if you've modified the OS. This basically tells a service tech or phone carrier employee that you messed with the phone and voided your warranty. As stated, it also disables OTAs as well.

Reset Knox Counter - SM-N900 Exynos

Hello,
i have SM-N900 Galaxy Note 3 with Exynos processor, i got this phone around 6 months or more. In these past 6 months, i never root doing any tweaks with Odin / any other HH tweaker because i dont have the courage to do so. I want to root it since i have this phone, but knowing there is Knox tripping and such, i never try to root.
And then, i just read some articles to check out your Knox warranty, because i'm curious about 'if' there is any Knox Warranty void on Exynos version, i tried to install Phone Info - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.vndnguyen.phoneinfo - and then i checked out, my Knox warranty void is 0x1.
I also getting inside Odin Mode, and the Knox warranty Void is 1, but my Phone status is Samsung Official, the rest is Official.
I read this helpful post to reset KNOX counter on SM-N900: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=52329946&nocache=1 , on those steps, it said it needs to flash Stock ROM to remove the Custom status of your device to back into Official, after you flash the bootloader for resetting Knox warranty void.
Question:
1) I wonder, can we only go through the 1st step, just only flash the bootloader with odin to my Galaxy note 3, only to reset the Knox warranty void back to 0, without flashing the stock Rom afterwards? because i don't want to wipe out my phone and lost all my data (I know i can backup it via Kies), and my phone status is already Official.
2) Does flashing the bootloader itself, will wipe your data inside your phone?
Thanks before for any answers!

if i am not wrong ... and as i used to do with note 1 back then
installing a stock rom over another stock rom does not require to wipe data but maybe this is different since u have to flash a bootloader
sorry ... i know i did not help much
Its imposible to reset Knox from 0x1 to 0x0. Unfortunately.

as i said .. if u install a stock rom over another one . u dont have to wie data at all and u wont lose any thing ..
but since u gona use another file with the stock rom (( the bootloader )))
u better see the steps for this way .. maybe it is require ti wipe and format .
better ask the man who wrote that ........

Hey to me it seems that it does not factory reset the device until you have to move on to the the step
See this link: http://blog.flexispy.com/how-to-downgrade-a-samsung-galaxy-note-3-from-os-4-4-2-to-4-3/
Scroll down to where they begin flashing the bootloader itself. They instruct you to wipe after the bootloader is flashed.
Only way to find to find out is to just do it.
How did Kox get tripped btw? You said you never rooted mainly because of that reason.
If it is already tripped you should just root it, install cwm, do a nandroid backup and try the method in the second link you posted.
So if it fails you just recover your nandroid backup and back to square one.
Hope this helps!

One question ? Need i flash as kernel too or is ok only too root , change twrp and install custom rom i forgot things
@paketek, I'm out from warranty 1,5 years. And still alive.))
You can't reset knox on all devices with knox inside.
Samsung STILL maintain support and warranty is valid even if Knox in your device is tripped.
If you want to run a custom rom, there is no need to root before installing twrp. Just install twrp, perform a full wipe, install custom rom.
Great :/ I'll rooted...
