[Q] Any app to check emails on demand? - Wear OS Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all, I am personally using Wear Mail to manage mail notifications because it allows me to DELETE an email, instead on deleting only the notification. But it is just a way to interact on notifications.
What I am still missing is an app that works like a CLIENT: you tap on it on the watch whenever you want to get into your mail inbox and that's it.
A workaround is using Wear Internet Browser and going into webmail, but a dedicated watch app would be great.
For Pebble an app like that does exist: Workmate and works great! Should not be impossible to develop such an app for Android Wear, but I can't find any.

Are we the only ones?

I've been looking for the same thing with no luck. Maybe we are the only people interested in an app like this.

Gmail on the watch allows to delete the mail. If you are using Gmail on the phone.
Watchmaker allows watch face tags. Including a tag to open the mail app on the phone. If Gmail is the mail app, once opened it will perform a mail sync. So anything new should show up in a Wear mail notification.

what is if I use K9-Mail

Absolutely not the feature I was looking for. I want to see (all of) my inbox on the watch, no matter if I have received an email or not. At the moment wear internet browser is the only unconfortable solution

By the way, thank you for this. I had tried earlier, but I had only "archive" and not "Delete"... now I tried again and I have "Delete" as the first option.

Question about instant messaging

I notice you can add instant messaging mediums under your profile and other contacts but when you goto click on them to chat with that client it doest do anything. What am I missing? Also is there a way to add pics to your facebook account thru the built in client?

Edit any one of your contacts, or edit your own profile and you will see a section to add instsnt messaging such as msn, yahoo and aim. Ive put stuff in there and the once done you will see under that contact an option to chat using aim,etc but iy doesnt do anything.

Trillian is releasing a version for Android (to round out the set with the iPhone, And BlackBerry versions). Maybe a program like that can hook into that information. We should know soon when the beta is released.

Select ALL?

so, has anyone figured out a way to "select all" when trying to delete multiple emails form your inbox or from the trash, in either the Gmail app, or the regular email app?
I can't believe you have to tick the check box for each and every email to delete it...
thanks!
No. This is a long standing issue that you can only work around by purchasing a 3rd party e-mail application such as K9 or Touchdown.
thanks!
I have K9 mail on my evo; I was trying to keep things more "stock" on the xoom, but maybe I should start using it..
I like the email widget built into the xoom; and, I dont believe k9 has a widget..
of course, that wouldnt solve the problem with not being able to multiple select with gmail..
Theres no way to delete emails at once by check boxes or anything?
you have to individually check off each box, one at a time..if you get alot of emails, its a royal PITA..
Launch the web version of gmail.

Yeah, I have to remember every 2 or 3 days to go into the trash folders of both my Nexus One and my Xoom now to clear out the trash otherwise my memory consumption just goes up.

I actually installed K9 mail. K9 Pure, and pure messenger, and am trying out that "trifecta" now..

Apps that show your MS Exchange calendar appointments

Being new to the Android world having come from the Windows Mobile environment I am perplexed to see how I can display my calendar details from my work's MS Exchange server. I have the emails and contacts working fine but all the Apps and Wiggits I have seen so far don't seem to work for the calendar. Surely someone else other there wants to have their work calendar on their S4 so could you advise me how you have done it? Many thanks in anticipation.

You can Try this app called touchdown by nitrodesk... install the trial version from play store and you can evaluate if the app satisfy what you need.

I suggest you download Google calendar from Play Store and then go into the options and select the calendars you wish to show. It has got this neat widget too. I'll try to attach a screenshot

Many thanks. I have actually done that and while it works for email and contacts, the calendar doesn't sync. I has contacted the company for advice but also noted a number of discussions around the wider problem of sync'ing between MS Exchange and Android devices. Would be interested in knowing if there are any widgets out there that show your appointments stored on MS Exchange?
I use my business email via exchange server using the stock email app,
Widget calendar and email works flawlessly,
Sync also does push in realtime

native email app

Has the native email app changed since the S7? Anyone know if it has true threaded messaging?
I hope so. I have tried aquamail and nine email and they both suck compared to stock.
Really? I LOVE nine. Find it amazing but always happy to use stock when it makes sense. What don't you like

I wasnt bashing it. It graphically beautiful. I just prefer the options, menus, and folder structure of stock. Nine was great on battery consumption compared to stock.
Nine has been my choice of app for about 2 years now. It's what got me off of HTC devices (since I very much liked the HTC stock mail app).
+1 for Nine. Been using it for nearly 3 years and it has been flawless.

The stock apps (including e-mail) are the only ones fully integrated with Gear. They're also better integrated with the rest of Samsung's ecosystem (Scrapbook, S Note, Bixby). The S7 nougat e-mail client was a modernized version of the Note7's. I'm assuming since it was just updated it'll carry over and get a new "lines" icon in keeping with the rest of the S8's updated aesthetics.
I'm coming from the native iPhone email app and think it's rubbish. Is the native Samsung one any good? If not what would you all suggest? I can't remember what app I used to use on my htc.

I personally like it. It's clean and easy to navigate. I use it with Exchange and its a great e-mail client. If you're looking for something more integrated check out Samsung Focus.
I have 3 email accounts. Can it handle them and are they easily identified?

Does it have true threaded messaging in and out?
Does Samsung Focus offer polling, not pushing, and true threaded messaging?

What is missing from the none native email app and gear? I currently use S2 with V20 and the email works great.

There is an actual e-mail app on the Gear that syncs with the native phone e-mail app. So you can read messages, mark them read, mark them unread, and reply to them. The Gear app lets you scroll through your entire inbox and has an unread message counter. If you delete an e-mail on your Gear it deletes it on the phone and vice versa. The mail app on the Gear is literally an extension of the full-fledged app on your phone. The Samsung Gear and phone messaging apps have the same level of integration.
Side question anyone know how to move the galaxy native email data to the sd card? I have to carry a pile of email in my pocket. I used to use touchdown so I could relocate the data, but I've switched to hte native app. It used to stink on older devices, but it was fine on the 7 and the integration with other apps is so much more convenient.
I also prefer the stock app. I do have an issue with it, I can't seem to get "push" settings. I have an icloud email address and had push on my iPhone. Is there anyway to get push on this app? Will forwarding to him gmail and using that work?

In the default email app settings there is a menu item called "view" under which you have 2 options "standard" and "conversation". The conversation option attempts a threaded view although I am not able to comment on how well the implementation is as I don't use threaded view.
does anyone know why emails from gmail on the native email app (s8+) do not stay deleted? They keep popping up, when marking as read, it does do that fine. (Settings: Gmail Auto, as items are received)
Messages not downloading completely
I just got a Galaxy S8+, and I can't figure out how to get the email app to load the rest of a message. There is one particular sender that I get daily messages from, and for some reason their messages never load completely. On my old S5, I just swiped up, and the app loaded the rest of the message. In the new app, that has no effect.
Any suggestions?

Try this. Not sure if it is the answer to your issue but give it a go.
Open the email app>menu>click the gear icon>click your email account>scroll down until you see the option "limit retrieval size">select "no limit.

Haven't tested on this device but should work. Over time I've just gotten used to Gmail to help my paranoia of any possible security measures being outdated now. Lol.
Which Email app are you referring to? I don't think there was a specific one for AOSP... If you hate using Gmail app for Google Mail try Inbox. It took a little getting used to but I can't use Gmail anymore on my desktop or phone.
Inbox is great.
I don't use Gmail. I want tho aosp email. The one that was posted above is the one I wanted, but it wants me to update it to Gmail.

Maybe try using an older version on the site. Uninstall first then downgrade (a few downgrade if needed) and see if it still does. Could be something they added in the app when they were moving away from AOSP originally. Otherwise you may be SOL.
I'll try it

I don't like the Gmail app either. I used Type App.
What's the difference between typeapp and bluemail? They look the same
I also hate Gmail for my work email. I've been using boxer by VMware. The company is reputable and I like the app so far. No limitations or paid features. It does everything I need and supports exchange with contact sync and push notifications which is what I needed specifically.
Nine
I use blackberry Hub app works great used it on my note 5 as-well.
Bluemail is the best out there but I cannot see the icons on the top strip in light mode. Anyone have this problem?

Nine's the best!
I use Nine, as already mentioned, which is great because it can contain a work Office 365/Exchange administrator's access to control your phone, to just within the app. Nine also syncs calendars well, which I really like. I also really like AquaMail. Both apps do fine with Google, Outlook, Yahoo, IMAP, etc.

Is this better than Outlook for Android? Is there anything that will combine one nice email app into one, for both personal and work email? Gmail sucked for my work email as well. Been using Outlook for Android, which is fine, but a bit clunky.
