[Q] Mad Catz Mojo USB controller support - M.O.J.O. General

Hi all, I am insterested in the Mojo for console emulation. consoles like PSP, N64, GBA, Snes
etc. The thing is I don't want to use the C.T.R.L. controller that comes with the console, and
I want to use wired controllers instead.
I looked on google for answers and I found a page that gave a small handful of controllers
that work with the Mojo but all of those controllers seemed to be wireless. I have 2
controllers that I think I should mention.
-The first is a Buffalo Snes style controller. (just a regular usb controller)
-And the second one is actually an adapter for the Pc and Wii U, the Mayflash 4 port
Gamecube controller adapter.
Can I use these two usb devices on the Mojo and can I make it so that I never have to use
the C.T.R.L. controller?

Wow wired controller!!! ,
There are a few controllers working on the kernel but they are mostly popular ones.
Try googling android kernel controller to see
Don't purchase any android device requring that kind of compatibility instead stick with a PC
Good luck

Those are not wired controller, but if you want a better controller to use with emulation I personnaly use those

they do work with the USB on the pc, but on android I never tried since I use it with bluetooth

I'm getting mixed results on google when searching for the Kernal but the most common
result is that it allows you to control the CPU? I don't really get it but i'm guessing that
if I need this Kernal then there's no chance of just plugging in my controllers and playing.
Is that about the gist of it?

Sorry searching Android controller would be better.
If it works in Ouya or Android then there's a good chance it will also work on mojo, ie:
https://forums.ouya.tv/discussion/4...ze-my-usb-controller-is-there-something-wrong
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MMxCYwdH6D4
http://www.reddit.com/r/emulation/comments/2khwgv/
But still, I would recommend upgrading like what danivempire suggested, bluetooth!
No compatibility issues and wireless.

That's actually some really good evidence. I'll take the plunge on this Mojo then. And yes,
I have been wanting to get one of those bluetooth wireless controllers I just wanted to be
sure that this console would work with the controllers I already own.
Thanks for the links.

Connect Universal directly to 80GB Mobile Hard Drive?

Is there any way to connect the Universal Directly to a mobile hard drive?.
to be more precise, to this one:
http://www.lacie.com/products/product.htm?pid=10669
Not Directly NO. The Universal does not have the USB Host hardware required to attach this kind of thing.
Take a look at this...

interesting...
but anyways there could be a kind of "piece of hardware" bewtween HD and Universal that makes the USB host function.. or maybe I am a bit lost..

Universal has WIFI so youd be better off just mapping a network drive or something rather than using bluetooth which is very slow.

That would be a PC Its certainly possible that somebody could make a card for the SDIO slot that would support USB Hosting but I am not aware of one.
Better wait for cheaper 4 gigabytes sd cards
Hi jimcl,
You have the same idea as me! I was thinking of hooking up my external 60GB HDD to my Exec using just a normal camera USB cable. As you have thought, it didn't work. Wouldn't it be great if things just works the way we wanna them to be?
I assume that if it works, the battery on your Exec will dry up very quickly as the HDD draws its power from it.
Anyway, if you find anything that allows you to do that, please post it out here and share it with everyone!
Cheers!
Regards,
Johnnie
Wifi would be much better, and is already available, but they are not designed for mobile use, mains supply required.
SDIO to USB is, I think is in the pipeline, but prehaps a better solution would be SDIO to Wired Ethernet, more likely to find this for PDA's with no Wifi, and USB/Ethernet hard drives are available now. Although ethernet drives still require mains supply but USB ones would suck power to quick from the host
I think we will see host controllers as standard in future PDAs.
I know the 5Gb is not particulary good on the Toshiba device, but I doubt it will be long before the capacity increases.
I must admit, SD/MMC cards are a better way to go and I think 8gb is in the pipeline now and prices will drop over time.
of course I'll share the solution... in case I find it!
I more or less agree with all your comments... but sometimes we just want to work with the things we have, ... I already have a mobile hard drive. That's all.
Apart from 4GB SD cards - and future 8GB - maybe we could find a solution in the WIFI way, but anyways 8GB SD card sounds great - maybe not its price..
If your looking for a solution for home or car try the asus WL-HDD wireless access point / hard drive
I picked one up off ebay for 50ukp with a 60 gig drive in it,
Also lets you copy stuff from other usb devices to the hard drive (without a pc) or share other usb devices over the wireless (with new firmware from asus).
http://reviews.cnet.com/Asus_WL_HDD_2_5/4505-3382_7-31080278-2.html?tag=nav
Power wise it needs 5v @ 2 amps
Being linux based there is also some hacked firmware that will let you use other usb devices or turn it into a webserver and other things..
http://wl500g.info/
currently selling in the uk without drive for around 36ukp (scan)

Yes, you can connect the Universal to the hard disk directly WITHOUT going through a router/access point using Wi-Drive, here:-
http://www.edslab.com/products.htm
Spoken to the developer 2 days back and was told that it'll be ready this coming August. It'll be released with a 30GB hard disk as this will be more affordable to the public. If you need higher capacity hard disk you'll need to install it yourself.

[EXPLANATION] Why the Live Dock will never output video from the Xplay

Hi there.
I see that there's still people that thinks that with the Live Dock you can use the Xplay on the TV. That's why I made this thread just to explain better how the device works and why it's impossible to have video ouput with it.
First of all, this is the Sony Ericsson Live Dock:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
This dock enables to use some Xperia phones with a PC keyboard or a PC gamepad for using them on a TV. It has a micro usb cable to conect to the mobile, and two ports on its back: a normal USB port to connect the wireless reciever of a the keyboard+mouse combo or a gamepad, and a micro usb connection wich I thought it was to output the video through some kind of microUSB-HDMI cable.
For its presentation, Sony Ericsson made a video showing the device:
With this video I, and I think some more people, thought that we only would need to connect the dock cable to the USB connection of the Xplay and we would be able to use our dear smartphone on a TV. But without seeing a logical explanation, I saw that the Xplay was not compatible.
That's why I thought angry "why the hell the XPlay is not compatible? It has a USB connection as the other compatible Xperias!!!"
But some time later, Sony Ericsson made another video, wich explained better how the dock works:
As you can see on 0:24, the dock doesn't output any kind of video, the video is outputted directly from the mobile through its HDMI connection. So the micro USB connection on the back is just to charge the smartphone while using it on the dock.
So that's it, the Xperia Play cannot output video with this dock because it hasn't got any video output xD
------
Sorry, this explanation may have been a bit obvious for some users, but until I saw the second video I was still thinkig that video output with this dock on the Xplay would be possible some day, and seeing that there's people that still thinks this, I thought it could be a good idea to clear all doubts.

[Q] Motorola Mini USB to HDMI ? will defy support this ??

I'm unable to post the outside link so pls search this on google
"motorola 1080P HDMI CABLE (15FT)"
Saw this on motorola shop
can defy support this?????
pls Reply ASAP
It's not possible to use the Mini-USB as TV-out on your Defy. So the answer is no.
aww...is there any possible mod for cm7 and miui so that tis could work on defy?

as said before... no!
it`s not mini-usb it is micro-USB and it`s not possible to use it as TV out. Anyone who want`s TV out should have proper output jack. Devices that support that kind of cable have micro-USB and micro-HDMI port`s so it`s not the same port!!!!
To see what I`m talking about just look at the second picture od Atrix:

There are 2 kind` od jacks, micro-USB for data transfer and charging, and micro-HDMI for video output.
you're wrong. tv output through the usb port is possible, just look at the galaxy s2. but the defy doesnt support it. its chipset would, but its hardware-disabled... -.-

so you mean if we "unlock" the bootloader, then we can write custom drivers for this to make it work? like in the sgs2 using an mhl adapter? or even using 3.5mm to output AV like some nokias do?
OH man, if yes, i would be on the top of this world.
tv out is the thing that most important to me on the phone... I've had an N8 before my Defy, and I had used the tv function alot!
i was searching alot on the Internet for a tv-out solution for the deft, but came out with nothing...
I'm only using Defy beacuse I got it for free...
Try the green cirkel ico "Media Share" if you can, can test it myzelf because y dont have the wifi stick for my led-tv ,y read thats the way whit this phoon it can do so. Y now what you mis on the Defy, same here on my Nokia C7, **** symbian but some nice gadgets like tv from the headpfoon plug, special when gaming, super big screen here on 47" tv en nice to via usb on tv use it like a hard disk.
Sorry for the bad typing, ym Dutch and Eng. is dificult here for oldie (56)

It does work, tested on my Z3 Compact with driveclub.
Had to delete the previous pairing with the phone for the playstation app and then it worked with the ps4 connected to the router via wifi.
Yeah it works. Its Amazing what you can do.
But you will need fast internet speeds to do this. I'm getting frame drops going too far away from the ps4. Hopefully they can improve this a little.
Is it working on rooted Z3?
I just cant log in to PSN with Playstation App. I don't know if it is a problem with rooted phone. Can anyone check it out?

You can't cause you unlocked your BL and now you lost your DRM keys forever. I tired on my Z2 and didn't work but worked on Tab Z2. I meant logging in not playing games, I'm nowhere near a PS4.
Yea it's now working fine after I downloaded the new ps4 remote play app :good:
have fun Z3 owners :good:

How are people playing with their dualshock controllers when the mount hasn't been released yet! Just laying it on the table? Why not use the TV then.

I have the Nyko mount (since March)
Dont waste your time with this ****y feature!
I bought a Z3 for remote playing but it **** sucks... I have a direct WiFi connection to PS4 with my Z3 (no router between them) and it laggs so much. Its the same lagging on the PS Vita.
At least I can unlock my bootloader without thinking about losing Remote Play XD
For the life of me, I can;t get the controller and the phone to pair.
I press the PS button and the SHARE buttons at the same time like the app tells me to, but then the controller switches off after a while. (its supposed to start blinking white)
Anyone have any idea what I might be doing wrong?
---------- Post added at 04:58 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:27 PM ----------
Ah, nevermind - realised that the PS4 needs to be off at the time
Can you explain how to get it to connect via home router connection and by direct ps4 access point? I see the access point for the ps4 in my wifi search but the remote play app is still needing to use my wifi router Internet connection. Won't even let me play over LAN, only over the Internet.
The app won't show up for me in the play store
So could anyone confirm it doesnt work with unlocked bootloader?
Not impressed yet. App works but response is not quick enough. Z3 and PS4 are connected via router. Lag is very pronounced in fast games. Especially if video quality is set to high. For games like peggle response is ok. But driveclub... No go

It doesn't work with Unlocked Bootloader on my phone. I've checked if it is problem with root only and flashed stock soft, but it didn't work as well. Back to root...

I'm wondering how I could possibly find a driver for my rooted S5... or
maybe find someone who could make one for me and I could pay them.
thanks!
I've got an AX88772B base adaptor. power and LAN LED both light up (S4 mini they stayed dark)
but the S5 provides no indication that it recognizes the Ethernet interface.
Wrong adaptor or is S5 unable to use USB-Ethernet dongles at all?
Is there any USB-Ethernet adaptor known to work with an S5 ?
Um, you can just plug the phone straight in to your comp with the charging cable and enable USB tether, no additional adapter required.

True, but I want to plug my phone into a LAN cable going to an Outdoor-Wifi repeater
so that my drone gets better range than with stock S5 antenna power.

How do you plan on installing a driver in Android? If there was one
Pretty sure it would have to be baked into the ROM in the first place, although being rooted might allow it, but I've never heard of installing drivers in Android
Not to mention, the huge description of the item on Amazon states "For Windows Tablets & Raspberry Pi Zero"

All true, I'm sure. I'm searching for experience with a Ethernet-USB chipset that DOES work wiht the drivers of an S5, just like there ARE Ethernet chipsets that do work wiht the stock Nvidia android tablet.
Maybe there is none, because Samsung didn't bother to include any usb-Ethernet drivers in their ROM.
Or - perferrably - I'm too much a noob, to know that Samsung Phones support only XYZ chipsets.
So I'd need either
- a trick / hack / secret 8-times tap to enable Ethernet-via-USB
- a (list) of USB-Ethernet chipsets other than mine (AX88772B) that ARE supported by Samsung S5 w/o fuss.
Got any pointers in these directions?

Well I'd at least start off my search with one that says it works with Android
No idea if it works with the S5, and you'd need a Male MicroUSB to Female USB adapter too
