I use to be able to hit the text icon on a contact, and it would go to Hangouts. Now I get a message: "to send an sms with Hangouts, turn on sms in settings" I don't think there is a setting for that on a 2012 n7. Anyone else with that issue? I'm on Purity ROM, 5.02.
Edit: Anyone? Here's a picture of a contact with text icon at right. Click and I get message shown. Pretty sure I use to be able to select Hangouts and it would go there. Just need to find out if this is a ROM issue or a Lollipop issue.

If you've got a Wi-Fi only Nexus 7 you can't send SMS texts

? I send texts all the time. I don't use any cell data on my n5 either, WiFi almost 100%. Hangouts sends and receives texts on WiFi no matter what device. I was just asking about the text icon in Contacts with the n7.

I get the same result as the OP when trying from Contacts. But if I open Hangouts and choose a contact from there it will offer to send the text from my Google Voice number. I think you have to have some wifi capable app with the wifi N7, but that doesn't explain the message in the OP when starting with Contacts.

This is what I'm trying to do: I want AT&T LTE service since its really good where i live but I dont want to pay the premium price for it.
In the options menu on AT&Ts website it gives you the option to opt out of text messaging and picture messaging altogether which would save $20. So my plan is to use the google voice app to send text and picture messages instead of the default messaging app. I already have a google voice number and account set up.
I'm also planning on using my google voice number to route calls to my phone so people dont get confused and/or have two numbers under my name lol
will this work? I just want to make sure that the app would use "data only"
BTW: the red galaxy S4 is just a place holder for the HTC one or S4 or Moto X Phone.

To the best of my knowledge, the Google voice application uses your minutes when making calls. Basically it calls both you and your contact ( depends on where you dial from).
It sounds like you want GrooveIP (or something similar). It connects to Google Voice over your WiFi or data connection (paid version only I think.).

Hi guys, I'm on stock ROM 4.3 and I have a really annoying issue: every time I tap COPY to copy something (texts, URLs, etc.) the apps get force-closed ..after the update I did a factory reset to prevent issues like this but seems it didn't help...I've only disabled these apps

Hi got the same problem, stock N10 not rooted and every application has a forced close after 4.3. I was hoping the recent update would resolve it but nope. Also have N4 and that has no such problem.

Uninstalled the app "Convert-It" as suggested in a thread on AndroidCentral, rebooted and now everything seems fine! Unbelievable

My problem has also resolved. I don't quite know when but noticed a few days ago it wasn't crashing the app when I copied text.

I think there was a change in 4.3 in the clipboard API which causes this. As devs update their apps it should be fixed. In the meantime uninstalling convert-it seems to handle the problem.

Hello,
On the iPhone there is an app for jailbroken devices called Call Bar. Basically it allows you to continue whatever you are doing while there is an incoming call. Is there any app similar to this on Android? I have found 2 apps, Small Call Pro and Call PopOut but they haven't been updated in more then a year. Any advise would be highly appreciated.

Or press the home button ?
Hmmm I've tried that however I can't dismiss the incoming call notification which renders the top part of the screen useless.
To clarify I don't want to reject the call, I just want to be able to continue whatever I'm doing while the call is ringing out.

This is a feature in stock Android since Lollipop as shown by @foxmeister

Android can do all this since forever, just answer the call and press the Home button , if the top bar shows, press the power button and turn on the screen again.
I think the OP means he doesn't want to answer OR reject the call, just ignore it so it goes to voicemail after the normal delay.
It took me a while to figure out how to do that with heads up notifications. It appears that you can swipe up on them and it will push them to the notification drawer, instead of dealing with them.
I've never tried that with a call, because I either answer, or reject. Why make the poor person on the other end wait to leave you a voicemail? Just wastes everyone's time, IMO.

Me too...
Fixed! When using gps and you have this problem make a long press on gps icon on top, you go in gps menu and you have this process on the list. Long press on the process, force close and clear data!

But after some time the message appears again. http://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/help/loggingservice-program-stopped-t3369974
