So how are you all syncing your Z2 on Windows?
Today I got the Sony PC companion working with Z2.
Are you all using Media go for your music need and syncing? If other, can you share which one?
I downloads Celmentine player, I don't know if it will sync with my Z2 wireless. I also have an ipod
Wouldn't be it easier just to plug your phone and copy music to your MicroSD or internal storage?
That's how I do it and never have a problem with any music player finding those songs I copy it to any phone I have including Z2.
Just plug in Z2 to pc, copy, unplug and ready to go without PCC.
Sometimes I even use wireless connection to PC if I'm lazy and don't want to grab a cable.
Still works without the problem.
As much as possible i am using my dock and wireless ftp app for wireless. It is easy ones you get it. Since the flaps of z2 is not reliable as my previous z phone. And also I want to retain its rubber tightness as much as possible.

I was transferring some songs to the memory card with media go and every couple of songs the program would hang and I'd have to restart the program and and phone to get it work again. This happened 3 or 4 times. It is transferring songs but I can only get maybe three across before it happens. It's like the phone disconnects from the computer and PC companion and media go lose the connection. Anyone have a suggestion on what to do about it?
Are you running a task killer set to kill periodically? If so, make sure these 2 are ignored,,
com.sonyericsson.capabilities --- handles hardware properties and connections
com.sonyericsson.devicemonitor --- handles plug and play detection
Otherwise, if you are connecting through a usb hub, remove the hub and connect directly to the pc's usb port, or unplug other devices from the hub. If the hub is unpowered, it may not be providing enough power.
Instead of using media go, y dun u try transferring it manually?
It was a usb connection directly connected to my comp. And I was running task killer, that was probably it. I'll try it tonight. Thanks

I switched to a Droid X for almost 6 months now, and my G1 just sits on my shelf. What's the best way to repurpose my old G1? I have considered donating it to a good dev so they can make good use of it, but what are other options?
Some of them just use it as the backup phone. Other pass it down to their familiy members (ie: kids, etc...) I got mine from my brother as a pass me down.
Some of the others users here using it to test the new ROM for G1. (bascially becoming the tester for the ROM).
Emulator machine. that's what I use my cliq for the d pad its great for nintendo rpgs

I use one of mine as a WiFi streaming audio player for the home sound system.
The other is my backup, sitting ready to take over should my Vibrant kick the bucket.

phone backup is out of the question , moving from t-mobile to verizon :/
i have used my g1 for controlling my pc from my bed, which was convenient, but eventually just stopped
thanks for the suggestions, if anyone else got something, i'd be glad to hear it
I use mine as a dedicated handset for voip and to stop the kids stealing my galaxy to play stupid disney puzzles

Turn it into a car music player. You'd need
-USB host drivers for the G1 (works on Android 2.2)
-mini-USB splitter/headphone adapter (it'd need a USB and headphone jack)
-AUX jack on the car radio
-3.5mm cable (goes from headphone adapter to AUX)
-mini-USB to USB cable
-powered USB hub and car adapter
-portable hard drive
Kind of a lot but you could get one heck of a music collection on a portable hard drive.

I second this
Its the best use for this thing if you dont use it, mines has been sitting on the shelf with my other old phones and hasnt been touched in months.
Hm, I not sure if both the audio adapter and the USB host drivers can work at the same time. Lots of people have done HDD mounting but nobody has tried using output at the same time.
Crap, what a time not to have my USB adapter. Maybe I can pick one up at the flea market.
Well if it does work, why stop there? Plug it into a home audio system. Find an app that allows you to control the music on the G1 from your other phone. Tada! Remote controlled 1TB stereo system. If the G1 wasn't such a weak phone you could turn it into an HTPC.
I used one of my old G1 to use as a walkie talkie. I can use the push to talk app to talk to my kids while there home on Wi-Fi.

I've been thinking about what I could do with an old smartphone. I've done a lot of googling and see most people use their device for internet phone calls, media, wifi only, etc... but I want to do something more.
it has so many sensors and an hdmi port that i think should be made useful. Looking for some suggestions.
If it has hdmi, hook it up to your tv as a media player- play movies from it etc. get a wireless usb/keyboard mouse and connect it to your phone with a usb otg adapter. Connect to your home pc with ES File Explorer.
I mean, what could I do if I took the phone apart and utilized the internals for another project?

So I've got a quick question here, basicly, I have an old xperia z I was using before I got the 6p,
Now I want to move stuff from the xperia to the 6p quickly without using pants Bluetooth lol,
Trying to use a usb-c to USB a, then a otg USB-a to micro usb but its not simply working, the 6p shows the drop down menu but no matter what I choose the xperia z recognises nothing, anyone know if I have to change settings or something? Maybe some other way to transfer? As I don't have a pc or laptop, only a nexus 7, nexus 6p and an xperia z.
Cheers
You could use Dropbox, Google drive or a similar cloud file storage service.

Worth a thought, take it no USB otg then? Got quite over 40gb to transfer so could take a while on my connection xD
You can do this with es file explorer and transfer files directly with WiFi. But if you're doing 40 gigs I would personally Xfer them to computer then back to new phone to make sure the WiFi Xfer doesn't get messed up half way through
WiFi menu -> ... -> Advanced -> Wi-Fi Direct.
Do this on both phones. Connect them. Send files across.

Et. al.
Cheers for the ideas guys, couldn't transfer to a comp then over since I don't have one, so what I did is bought a usb-c hub with micro SD reader, transfered stuff from SD card to nexus, delete, then move rest of stuff over using SD as its only 32gb card, works nice, just es doesn't recognise the SD card in the hub, had to use built in explorer
I am a new owner of the Z1 Compact, and I cannot seem to get Bluetooth 3.0+HS features to work with my laptop. The goal is to synch the phone's 128GB SD-card with my music library, and move any new photos off the phone and onto the laptop for backup.
The link works fine, no errors, but roughly 150 kbps is the best I am doing here over Bluetooth, very painful, makes me want to pull out a USB cable and just plug the phone in.
I bought a few of the magnetic charger cables from a cable vendor, so I am trying to open the little "doors" as little as possible, as they seem to have a lifespan, being rubbery plastic. I'd rather use Bluetooth high speed if I can.
I am rooted at .216 of 5.1.1, but other than removing bloatware, I have not done anything fancy to mess with the phone.
Use wi-fi transfer (plenty of apps for this on the playstore) if you can't use the USB cable. Bluetooth is best for streaming media, not copying large files.

I hear you. Did the same. Sadly charging with the magnetic cable is very slow, but I don't care over night.
About the sync.
How about 'MyPhoneExplorer'. It's a free app I'm using for years now and you can sync wireless.
I use it atm to sync contacts, photos (from different folders, you know, every app a little bit different) and recorded music files.

Yes, I use "My Phone Explorer" for contacts and calendar and such, but for photos and music, I am now using the Lenovo "SHAREit" program, which uses a direct WiFi link, and is far faster than bluetooth or USB. It looks like Bluetooth 3.0+HS has been abandoned in favor of the ultra low-power features of Bluetooth 4.0, dunno why both can't coexist.
On the magnetic charger cable, don't blame the cable, blame whatever you plug it into! Mine changes up lickety-split, so get a better wall wart, or check/change the USB port.
