I do not THINK Barnacle is compatible with the Kernel in the Sense ROM, that they are using.
Try using the Google Code Wifi application. http://code.google.com/p/android-wi...etail?name=wireless_tether_2_0_6.apk&can=2&q=
That one should work fairly well for you.
Never posted anything that made it into someones signature before. Thats awesome.
I've used all 3 "Stock", Barnacle and the Google.Code one and they all 3 worked fine. I have stuck with the stock one (TMO not charging me for it either) because I prefer the UI for it and it connects first try every time for me. activate app, power up netbook and by the time my netbook is done powering up it has already connected itself to my phone a ready to go for a romp on the inter-web. I have been using it since day I got the phone and haven't received the text telling me I had to add tethering to my account... but then I never get anywhere near the 5GB "cap", my heaviest month was 1.51GB

Can't tether after ICS then factory reset

I'm not rooted and updated to ICS this morning. Brought my transformer to work with me since I was excited and was tethering to my phone via ad-hoc fine. I then decided to do a factory reset to clear up the tablet and do some optimization. Next thing you know I can no longer tether to my phone so now I'm stuck without wifi.
My tether network shows up in the available wifi list but when I try to connect it just saves the network but not connect. Does anyone have suggestions on how to fix this?
There is no reason that a factory reset would block it from being able to connect to a ad hoc network. The only thing that I can think of is that you typed the password wrong but like I said there is no reason it shouldn't work.
I didn't set any encryption on the tether network, it's the only way I was able to get tethering working previously.
Interesting, maybe reboot your phone? Like I said, I really don't think a factory restore could do anything that would prevent this from happening.
I was worried about the tethering. The Prime guys lost it with ics and had to root to get it back.
Yes, I have tried restarting my phone a few times. I was originally using android-wifi-tether 3.1b11 but have also tried barnacle tether, both have the same results. I'm attempting another reset on the transformer now in case I screwed something up on setup. I backed up all my apps before resetting the first time so at least I can install them, but no network access.
Asus had previously fixed ad-hoc in the August OTA, but it looks like the new ICS OTA doesn't have that fix anymore. So, you might try bluetooth pan networking instead. I don't think any amount of factory resets will get your ad-hoc wifi back without actually reverting to a pre ICS install.
I was able to find a wifi tether profile that allowed me to put my phone into AP mode so it's now working without ad-hoc. Thanks for trying to help

Dude, PdaNet has a (new) version for ICS for free. It does bluetooth and more. You might want to check out.
Just fired up wireless tether, connected to it and browsed the web with no problems.

What did you end up using? The same exact thing happened to me.

I came from Revolver. After the ICS update my tether had no issues. I use the app WiFi Tether.
The only thing I noticed is that ICS does not gracefully disconnect after I shut tether off. In fact, the wireless rings for signal indicator grey out but are all still present. After a while, I turned the tether app back on and had to dicsonnect/reconnect wifi on the tab. There was a message like something about "continued poor signal". After the standard off/on of wifi all was good.
Thanks, thats what I was using but I had a really old version. I guess I should update my apps more.

hotspot disconnecting and how to change subnet

rooted stock only tweak is the enabled hotspot which is great if it worked all the time like trev mod
mine will connect then disconnect randomly is there a fix
also is there a way to change the network on the stock tether app like on trev mod
better yet is there anyway to get tevmod working on rooted stock
just point me in the right direction
thnx

[Q] Wifi Tether

I have the paid Wifi Tether Router app by Fabio Grasso. I used to have it on my old phone which I had no problems with. Is there a setting I need to set for it to work or is there a better app for wifi hotspot?
or is there a way to put the last OTA before 27A on the phone than I can use the WiFi tether hack

When I go to the above link I get a warning from McAfee that it contains viruses and spyware.

The only non root method for Wifi Teher I have Found for S7

WIFI TETHER for Sprint S7 Sorry for typo
I am on a Sprint S7 G930PVPS4APK1 ANDORID VERSION 6.0.1. I live in the sticks and wifi tether is the only way I can get high speed for home. The quick reboot method no longer works. I have rooted other phones, but am no expert, and hesitate to try rooting my S7. Can't afford the ins if I brick it.
I have found From lots of reading (thanks to many) that using PDAnet+ alows me to use USB tethering to a laptop. The lap top will then work as a WIFI hotspot with what seems like reasonable speed. I was able to use the wifi on a tablet and stream Netflix, which is what I really want. Works great. It will be worth the $8 bucks to unlock PDAnet for unlimited data. So this works as Jan 2017 for free wifi hotspot.. I have seen no other recent references to this. i should mention i have unlimited data so have not
I do have a question While the WIfi hotspot from the tethered laptop works great, I can not seem to get my Chrome cast to connect to it. I really need this. It satys problem connecting to wifi router. I can't figure out why. The only clue? I constantly get a pop up on the laptop saying intel intelligent wifi is disabled while app running? any ideas would be very helpful TIA
