Just seen a similar thread below so please disregard this thread.
Had a similar thread on the nexus 5 thread. The idea is not a slagging of match about which rom is best because all devs spend a lot of time putting roms together for free and sharing with us. So it's just to share what rom and kernel you are using and why you prefer it. This is because we have so many custom roms and kernels with different features. For instance I use rastapop because I used this on nexus 5 and it's been solid and fast. I also use franco kernel because have always used it from nexus 4 and it's stable and smooth for me. So your thoughts please.

Hi, i want to start this thread where we can share our set ups.
I'm using cleanrom v3.0 with franco kernel r31. Very good!

I am using CM10.1 nightly with Trinity Seven alpha 0.
This is pointless. If all you want to know is which ROMs are being used by more people just look in the Development forum and look at the post counts for various ROM threads. The ones with the high counts are being used by more people, the ones with the lowest are used by fewer people. This still tells you little about a particular ROMs suitability for a specific application or use. Only you can decide that.
Sorry, but there is no real need for this thread.. All you will find is everyone is different, and wants different things out of tablets; thus, there are tons of different roms in use. Look for the one that meets your requirements, and go from there.
I am just looking for suggestions on which kernel to use with my stock 4.2.1 Rom? There seems to be two in my mind (Motley and Mako), but I don't know which one to use. If you guys don't mind, can you guys give me a couple feedback on these two kernels or any other kernels. Thank you for your time
Franco. Love it. Tried others and I always go back.
There's not such thing as best kernel
Don't ask
This will only start a flame war over which kernel has the most "bleeding edge" features. Besides you have a crackflasher's dream phone with a growing dev community second to none (except maybe gnex for now).
Apologies
Sorry I should have rephrased the title. I am just asking for suggestions and your experience with different kernels. I have no intention of flaming a war or creating a poll. I am new to the nexus 4 forum and just need a little help. Sorry for inconvenience
franco kernel
franco.
but not a good combo with CM mod.
just like... cuties:
play with all of them.

Agree, would prefer trinity and CM.
Thread closed. There is no such thing as a best kernel or anything to that point. Everyone has an opinion and this won't help you choose what's best for you so please read the first post's from the kernel threads and decide if they have the features that are best for you then try them yourself. It's an easy process so you could even try them all.
Thanks

Just wanna known which is the most stable ROM for nexus 4? And please if anyone can share the pros and cons of all the different ROMS which will be a great insight for new rooted users.

Stay with stock. Stable, reliable, and bug free (well at least as bug free as Google managed to make it)...and will save us precious time describing Roms that you can try for yourself.
This thread should be in Q&A, not development.
try one if you like keep it if not try another
It's a fair question but there have been really similar posts and you should consult them. Check out the posts on individual roms to get a feel. Try them out yourself. Nobody can really objectively tell you how stable a rom is due to varying usages. Also roms are constantly updating and their stability can vary from release to release. Also this should be in the QA forum
Rasbean Jelly + Trinity.

Try them yourself and stop being lazy.

So I'm coming from the Nexus 4, where pretty much anything goes hacking wise and just wanted to get a few things straight about kernels before i re-dive into that world.
How does kernel compatibility work? obviously you need a kernel made for your specific device model, but beyond that, how to they mix and match with different ROMs/ how do you know? Right now i'm running a port of the google edition 4.2.2. If it's based off a stock ROM can i proceed openly as though it was like my nexus 4 and any kernel goes?
Thanks in advance.
Pretty much the same. Stick to kernels for your device. And as far as this one or that one, try a couple and see the results for yourself. It is different from person to person. I prefer KT kernels always had no issues, but the others maybe better for you.

Thanks, but you're saying that any kernel for my device will work with any rom? Samsung's stock TW notwithstanding
UW ..I am saying, I have with my device 4 different kernels I can use on any rom. TW based. And 2 for aokp..and use them accordingly.

Personaly OXYDO, but most would recommend m-kernel which is also a supreme kernel, but not for my needs
Thanks for the recommendation. I will take a look at both of them!

There is no best, as everyone's hardware and personal circumstances differ. As such, best rom and best kernel threads are frowned upon and locked as soon as a mod catches wind of them.
The best kernel is the one that you find that suits your individual needs. There is no substitute for your own firsthand experience.

Well, you put a post here;

Even "STICKY" it, and some folks just don't wanna take the time to look... Just immediately Post a new thread with a redundant question, which is why the sticky is there. But nooooooo....
