[Q] double tape to wake up? - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Do s4 i9500 can have double tap to wake feature ?

No. A single press of the home button will wake the S4 up however.

can u be more detailed? and what about 4k recording?

If this feature was possible, and could be implemented with a ROM or a kernel or both, it would cause substantial battery drain because of the wakelock like @xDroidZz said.. That's because the GS4 does not have a dedicated low powered processor separate from the main SoC to listen in or "watch out" for inputs like that without consuming too much battery. IMO, I'd rather use the home button rather than lose that much battery lol

Okay bro and thanks for replies! And what about samsung galaxy s5 cam3ra? And what about 4k recording is that possible?

4K isn't possible in our device since Snap 600 doesn't have that feature. But Galaxy S4 Snap 800 version has 4K by adding it. :good:
The stock S4 camera is also good enough to take decent pictures.

Mine is exynos version

Coolest tweak for S3 you know?

What is the coolest tweak you know for the Samsung Galaxy S3? I made this thread, so everyone can find out about tweaks that they don't know about - yet. It can be an app or a zip or anything!
I'll start this thread with SGS3 Easy UMS.

Don't see anything wrong about this thread apart from this being a question and in general section. At least it is better than million other ota update threads.

Did you you know if you disable the ripple effect of the lock screen, you get 180MB more RAM. It has to be unchecked even if you disable the swipe lock screen.

Sure mate, also if you take the battery off the s3 is sooo light to bring around.
One of the coolest tweaks is the high luminosity torch in CyanogenMod. It's ExtremelY bright.

i tried that on omega v19 and yes my ram went down 100mb. v20 on the other hand, not at all.
I was just being sarcastic :/
I knew that ripple had to take some memory but both 180 and 100 mb seem an exageraton. BUT, pretty samsung style, i have to admit.
perhaps no mms convert and long hold volume to change songs
charging the battery
The coolest tweak for me is remapping the capacitive buttons lol. I'm easily pleased.

Don't be an ass. I'm trying to help the OP out.
The best tweak in JB is increased available RAM from 773 to 833MB.

The processing of a photo takes about 3 seconds, is this normal for the note 3?
My old note 2 did not.

Not much better than the GS4 at all, now if you have a GS3 hell yeah, but not so much for the GS4. I might just keep my GS4 and wait for the Note 4 or see what the new HTC M8 and LG G3 have to offer and get one of them maybe..
You also get the new textured back but whether or not you prefer it depends on taste really.
The only downside when compared to the S4 is the increased size due to thicker bezels and larger screen. This is probably more than counterbalanced by the other upgrades though.

Hardware keys to activate shutter?

Now that root is achieved and the device is water resistant, has anyone found a method to make one of the hardware keys activate the shutter since the screen can't recognize anything when submerged?

When I push volume up in the stock camera app it fires the shutter. It did work underwater too when I was on vacation before root was achieved so I know it wasn't a mod that I did.

Idk why I didn't even try that... Wow thank you Sir! I guess I assumed it would be the zoom since I was used to that on the Note 3 and S4.
Now to tell my customers.

Question about fingerprint scanner

So if you jailbreak iPhone 5s/6/6plus you can unlock the phone by just putting your finger on the home button without unlocking the screen. Is it possible with some tool in Samsung Galaxy s5 by just swiping the pad without turning the screen on making the phone unlock?
Thanks for answers

I would totally like that if it is possible, and think it won/t use too much battery as if it is only the print sensor on, I hope somebody can help us with this.

Yes its a very awesome feature and I think its possible if some dev looks into it. I dont have S5 atm but I am considering buying the phone if this is possible
As of right now, there is no mod that allows this. but i'm sure sooner or later some dev will get it to work, as the posters above me have already said.

It will take a hit on the battery since this feature will be emulated through software since the hardware restricts it. For that to happen we have to modify the kernel to make the cpu stay awake at all times at low power. It's just like the Double tap to wake feature that is also sort of "emulated".
