Hi, I just bought my first smartphone, an LG G2 from Boost Mobile (also my carrier) and I've been playing some games on it, from low end games to high end games. They all seem to have micro stutter. I've been doing a lot of research on trying to solve this issue but nothing seems to work and I don't want to root my phone.
I've tried uninstalling apps, bloatware, disabling apps, and disabling Auto-Sync. Disabling HW Overlays, turning off window animations and transitions, clearing ram and game boosters. I've tried soft and hard resets, and clearing cache from the recovery menu after installing the latest firmware and LG updates. I also tried lowering the graphics setting on my games but the problem still persists.
Nothing. Seems. To. Work.
I know my phone can play these games with ease but something is causing these games to stutter. I tried Avabel, Asphalt 8 Airborne, Terra Battle and Crusader Quest.
Get some updates man, use latest official 4.4.2 (there are stock ROMs with custom kernel look for cloudy...) Or go for Resurrection Remix Lollopop...

But that requires me to root my phone, right? I don't want to root my phone.

No.
Oh, I see. In that case I've searched for this ROM named ''Cloudy'' but noticed there are several versions of it. What do you recommend? My LG G2 is LS980 and running 4.4.2.

Hello Guy,
After I have flashed CM12.1, I have been unable to download some of the game I was able to download before when I was on TW. In the Google Play Store, these games are showing up as not compatible with my device.
When I emailed the support team of game developers, they came back with the following statement:
"Rooted phones may make the game incompatible as it could spoof the device token that is sent to google play that would decide if you can download the game or not."
Anyone know if there is a way around this?
Happened to me too. But it was GPE and CM12.1.
A possible solution might be to download the game apk and data, if available.
You could also try editing the build.prop to change the phone model. But this may, or may not, cause other issues.

Yeah, that is how I am currently getting the games but prefer a real fix, some of these sites are dodgy.
Change roms, I guess.
The problem is not cause by root, as they say, it is caused by the rom.
If it would be caused by root then you could simply use one of those apps that hides the root status.
Just updated via kdz and im not too impressed. Coming from a geeked up lollipop with no lag to now having cpu throttling all over again. Its great when its been sitting around but once you start using it or trying to olay a game it sucks. Got into the hidden menu and turned off thermal mitigation and htp and nothing changed. Hopefully the good guys here will get root and a kernel going because...damn. Anyone else?
Well you SHOULD HAVE flashed the D85530B.zip via TWRP instead of the KDZ if you wanted to keep root and other Kernel Tweaks. The Lag is not MM issue, it's just the bugged CPU governor. Changing it to Conservative from Interactive eliminates the lag just like in LP.
The only to fix that would be to downgrade and then flash via twrp?
For now, for who flashed the KDZ, I don't think there's a way to downgrade / root it yet.
Hmmm well with this clean kdz i will recieve OTA right? And after my phone settled down it runs a little smoother than it did when i first flashed. Just lags up when it gets warm ??
Have no probs here runs really smooth it does ?
What kdz do you have
derp :/
just posted in wrong topic
sorry :<
what are you guys talking about?mine performnace is great.even with interactive governer there is no lag.i am a heavy gamer.i played lots of heavy games and i didnt noticed any lags or heating issue.
maybe i need to let it set in. I was really optimized when on 5.0 so maybe im expecting too much. It does perform better than my friends vs985 with 5.1.1

Update
Yo guys,
I haven't updated my g3 yet but I have a few questions.
1. I was wondering if you update, and you have a knock code with less than 6 combinations, do you have to change your code immediately? Maybe after the update I can still use my 4 combination knock code if I don't change it afterwards? Like some sort of glitch? Or maybe I won't be able to unlock it because it has less than 6 combinations?
2. Is it necessary to reset the phone after the update or is it recommended?
3. Since I set the user of my phone to guest, my wallpaper changes every 5 minutes to another. I can still set it back to my previous wallpaper but a few minutes later it changes to another wallpaper again. Does anybody have or had this issue too and does that person know if this has been resolved in marshmallow?
Thanks in advance.
Cheers.
Since I rooted my note 4, I have been having random freezes and it is frustrating. I installed SimplROM, Revolution, Note 5 Port ( Kyubi or something ) and finally a stock rooted rom ( bare developer's edition ) and my phone is the whole time freezing on me. I don't use social media so I am not having background heavy tasks running, always fully erased the phone's internal memory and cache before installing a new rom and yet I still get the crashes. I hve never had that before I rooted the phone. anyone experiencing this as well ?
my phone is a N910F

I am having the same problem, lagging all 5 sec when typing or swiping on homescreen. It just happens on Touchwiz roms. The Fingerprintsensor aint working either. I tried Stock Roms, Custom Roms.
Somebody said that they fixed it on the 910T with a puerto rico stockrom but no fix for 910F.
I just installed CM12.1 and no lag.
Waiting for marshmallow for fingerprintsensor support.
Hope i could help.

Mine is actually working fine and it freezes without warning or in other words I can't point out exactly when it freezes, like sometimes the camera, drop down notification bar or even the task switcher. It is random, I tried yesterday some solution which I'm not sure exactly of it's outcome but so far no freezes. I changed the securestorage value in the build.prop to false which resulted in loosing my wireless password but after I retyped it again things were fine.

Hi,
souns like the S-Health and Privatemode error.
you fixed it with that method. You could also use the xposed module for S-Health to fix it.

Hello,
I have installed the android 6 to my p8 lite dual sim phone. C432b574 - I got the OTA update recently but it didn't update, and others told me to update manually, so I did.
I updated from b170.
The problem is the battery started heating up like never before with normal usage. Besides that when I checked the consumption levels it showed that hardware used 95-99% and softwares used the remaining. It is unnatural because I use the phone like I used to use with lollipop. I had been using it for 2 weeks now.
I tried wiping cache partition, updated all of the apps and someone told me the google services may screw up with the new system so I deleted those too, the problem still on.
Should I take it to the repair shop for a battery exchange? Maybe mine is faulty?
Regards, Ghostmuffin - thanks in advancew
I've also had those problems, the high hardware consumption is probably a first time error. For me, the one's causing havoc are the Google Play Services, actually you didn't remove anything, you can't remove them without basically turning your phone useless. Time to consider a deodexed ROM and using amplify (requires Xposed)

I could remove the updates.
And you installed deodexed update or how did you manage to solve it then?
I'll wait for other replies before rooting the phone.
I have never rooted a phone before, one thing is not clear for me, can I install a custom android 6 while it is currently on the phone or should I downgrade it first? The other question is, does it wipe my data?

Well I worry because with the heating up the battery life is reduced. And I wonder if it can be solved because in general the marshmallow is much better than lollipop

Well my device also heats up when playing heavy games like gta san andreas, modern strike, asphalt 8 etc.... I think this is due to octa core processor. Which generates more heat as compare to quad core. I haven't used any octa core devices other than this so might be wrong.

Removing updates fixes nothing, as it seems to be a problem with Marshmallow itself, and yes, I downloaded a custom ROM, it's not a very advanced procedure but you should be careful. You should install it over the current ones, making wipes with a custom recovery, and yes, it will wipe your data, however you can back it up from recovery.

But if it is with marshmallow, a custom rom will still have this problem, won't it? - and which custom rom should i install? from where did you download it?

Maybe you should try custom kernel before flashing a rom.

From my own experience, it seems like it's a wakelock problem. And using Xposed on a stock Rom broke calls, so that's why I was suggesting it

Yes, but they're much more customizable, as I said, if it's a wakelock problem, Amplify will solve it. I recommend Sokoban's ROMS and Nautilus

Well, I give it a try, I can return to stock lollipop if it doesn't help after all. I don't think a battery extender will solve the problem, though.

Hi All,
So I have had my S8 for about 2 months now and I get a freeze none response issue every other day forcing a reset I only recently know that I can enable game mode which seems to have made things better but still lags every now and then.
Is there anything else than can be done?
Are there any optimized custom rom for the S* that can be installed without having to keep root access?
Thanks in advance.

Your best bet is to back up everything and reflash the firmware via Odin, if that doesn't work then a custom rom is the way to go, which will need twrp and root access
