But what about those of us who are on Macs and do not have access to a windows machine to use ODIN? Is there a way to flash back to DI18 or do I pretty much have to start begging random people to use their computers?

Why not just search for the stock di18 zip and flash it? No need for Odin. Exactly what I did.

So I would just need to put the update (I actually have it) on my sd card as update.zip and install it as an update just like I did with dk28? I apologize for being very fail at knowledge.
Easy method i use and worked and removed root/clockwork... with out odin..
For you those going back to stock or are stock and u flashed 2.2 and want to downgrade or resort back to stock use this method.
Rooted/clockwork users skip the first step...
1. Do the one click root/clockwork/etc Here
2. Flash the d118 modem Here
3. Then Flash the zip file Here
4. Then flash the get rid of clockwork zip Here
5. Your are back to stock without using odin yay!!!
Now all links work!!! and added a step use this method to return to stock with out odin.

The get rid of clockwork doesnt work... might have to ask dcrocks to reupload or if someone has it that would be great.

Sorry to double post, just wasnt sure which threads you were checking, but in step 2 when it comes to flashing the modem updater file it wont work, i can install the kernal and rom fine, but the modem gets an "installation aborted" in clockwork.

This will not, however, update your modem back to DI18, anyone have any ideas?
When I went from dk28 bac to di18 I used odin, make sure you have samsung mobile phone drivers, when I downloaded the dk18 tar file the first three times odin said bad mp5 file..I closed odin opened it again, downloaded the exact same tar file and it worked the fourth time. Make sure the f.reset button is deselected and you don't need a pit file....hope this helps

To what folder does OTA get downloaded?

i would like to know to which folder the OTA's get automatically downloaded.
you see, i have a stock g2, rooted s-off, i have a custom recovery, bacon bits and all that. however, i never updated my phone with an OTA.. and so for a time now i would get an OTA and keep postponing it.. then it would go away again for good.. until recently it started popping up yet again.
so this morning i decided that i would update. my current build is 1.19.531.1 and the update would take me to 1.22.xxx something build.
so i clicked "restart & install" and it restarted and took me to recovery (i have clockwork recovery). but it didnt automatically install the update. so i tried doing it manually within recovery and didnt know which folder to point to.
i ended up rebooting and my build version didn't change, but when i go to system updates it says that i'm up to date now.
can anyone help me out with this?
thank you!
There will be a file in your /cache folder.

In the main OTA thread we found the URL, so you can just download it again manually: http://android.clients.google.com/p...MOUS_2.15.531.3-1.22.531.8_release_197463.zip

[Q] Emergency, ROM failed to load, nearly bricked?

I tried putting in a rom earlier for my note 3 and it didn't take.
I ended up on that, vibration boot loop.
Odin still worked fine so I tried putting in an original stock rom with root, so I can add recovery.
I could not actually find a fully suitable rom choice, and the samsung website didn't play well with me either. firstly it would not let me register for some reason...anyway.
I am UK on O2 running 9005 SO I put in N9005XXUDMJ7-PRE-ROOTED-KNOX-FREE-ODEX-BL-FREE
I don't know if that was the right choice, I set it up on PDA, and unclicked partition
It's been stuck possibly hanging on ext4 sys for over an hour.
The references I have seen suggest it takes a long time but how long is too long?
I don't want to pull the plug to brick the device completely.
I have a cwm recovery so all I need is to put the recovery back in and I should be good to go...
If this is hanging, what other options do I have?
How long is too long?
Any help fixing this would be greatly appreciated, and a drinks on me...
I am kinda freaking out, have seen similar threads, but because the firmwares are so different they didn't really help..or perhaps I misread things...but nothing really covered not being able to load the recovery software itself
consider me lizard brain in freak out mode right now..
please reply promptly with something.
Can you still boot to cwm or download mode only?

Odin mode only. But it's still hanging. And I am worried that if I pull it now it's going to brick it and not even give me access to ODIN.

Over one hour is too long to flash something even a full stock rom. Something is wrong there.
So you're saying you have no access to an original stock rom of your phone? If there is a problem like this flashing, I would flash the stock rom first then just root and install cwm. The first thing you want to do is have a working phone then just do the other stuff after like rooting, etc..
If what you posted is your stock rom, then download here and flash through odin.
There's also a newer one which is MK2 which you can download here.
Either one is stock.
Downloading the mk 2 now to test
That sorted me out thank you very much.

Mate the reason you got into trouble was you weren't flashing a stock rom...
N9005XXUDMJ7-PRE-ROOTED-KNOX-FREE-ODEX-BL-FREE means it has been altered and is considered custom...
A stock rom has not been altered.

There are a lot of good people here that will help you. You don't need to give anything back. And be sure to ALWAYS have a NANDROID backup so that you can restore your phone if anything bad happens.

[Q] How to repair OTA update

I had my Tmo S5 rooted and I tried to OTA update. I forgot to uninstall it and now I cant get the OTA. Idk what update it was if it was Lollipop or not. Right now Im on a stock 4.4.2 now non-rooted. It won't brick anything if you follow the onscreen instructions to the point. No it doesn't matter that I gave you a UK link. If you're afraid of losing personal data (apps/photos) make a full nandroid backup and copy that to your pc, then copy all your personal photos and files to your pc. Then download and install Kies and follow the onscreen instructions. :good:

Okay...Im gonna give it a try. LOL. Thank you very much. OH, will this "flash" my phone meaning I will lose all my app and app data along with settings and everything? I havent done a stock update...I know when you do ROMS you should always clean and flash...sometimes you can flash over...but stock stuff...dunno what to expect.

No you're not supposed to lose anything. The word "flash" in this context comes from the act of writing data to the flash based ROM chips. So to "flash" means to "write".
I told you to make a full backup in recovery and a manual backup of your files just in case you are worried. But it's always good to make backups.
Generally when flashing roms, I follow these three simple steps:
1 Make a full backup of your current rom in recovery
2 Flash new rom without wiping (aka dirtyflash), see if it works
3 Only if apps start bugging and crashing do a full wipe and flash new rom again

You should be able to use it to extract the contents of firmware packages and pull the recovery.img directly from it.

This thing is impressive! Okay so I did it... but couldnt find the recovery
I'll check it out and reply back.
I had the same problem - I was on 1.16.xxxx
I followed these directions and I must tell you - it works perfectly:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone-2-laser/general/guide-how-to-flash-stock-rom-via-twrp-t3409768
Although, since I was so far back, I needed to flash all the 1.17.xx versions first, but it worked just fine.
Since none of these OTA roms included the recovery images (that I could find - they must somehow hide it from us) - there were no other way I could find to get the original factory recovery back, but it works great.
Now I need to find a way to re-root and re-TWRP - still working on that.
Good luck!
