downgrade epic to 2.1 - Epic 4G General

I recently instaled 2.2 on my epic and I heard what sprint said today about it and its not the official froyo build. I used odin. Is there any way to get the epic back to 2.1? I want to be able to receive the update via ota

But what about those of us who are on Macs and do not have access to a windows machine to use ODIN? Is there a way to flash back to DI18 or do I pretty much have to start begging random people to use their computers?

Why not just search for the stock di18 zip and flash it? No need for Odin. Exactly what I did.

So I would just need to put the update (I actually have it) on my sd card as update.zip and install it as an update just like I did with dk28? I apologize for being very fail at knowledge.

Easy method i use and worked and removed root/clockwork... with out odin..
For you those going back to stock or are stock and u flashed 2.2 and want to downgrade or resort back to stock use this method.
Rooted/clockwork users skip the first step...
1. Do the one click root/clockwork/etc Here
2. Flash the d118 modem Here
3. Then Flash the zip file Here
4. Then flash the get rid of clockwork zip Here
5. Your are back to stock without using odin yay!!!
Now all links work!!! and added a step use this method to return to stock with out odin.

The get rid of clockwork doesnt work... might have to ask dcrocks to reupload or if someone has it that would be great.

Sorry to double post, just wasnt sure which threads you were checking, but in step 2 when it comes to flashing the modem updater file it wont work, i can install the kernal and rom fine, but the modem gets an "installation aborted" in clockwork.

This will not, however, update your modem back to DI18, anyone have any ideas?

When I went from dk28 bac to di18 I used odin, make sure you have samsung mobile phone drivers, when I downloaded the dk18 tar file the first three times odin said bad mp5 file..I closed odin opened it again, downloaded the exact same tar file and it worked the fourth time. Make sure the f.reset button is deselected and you don't need a pit file....hope this helps

Hey guys, I wrote up a post on how I went back to Eclair to fix a Froyo GPS problem, maybe there are some pointers in there to help you:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9612709&postcount=50
I went from rooted stock 2.1 directly to 2.2.1 (downloaded from Google) using the stock recovery and I have ZERO issues. Maybe try again or start clean? Good luck!

The first link is odin and the second is the di18 rom
Download them both easiest is to save them to desktop
Turn your phone into download mode(hold power and the 1 key)
Open up the odin exe file
Plug your phone in and you'll see com and some numbers in the bfirst box. Make sure you do so you know your computer recognizes the phone
Find the pda section and put the rom file in there you just downloaded
Make sure that autoreboot is the only box checked off and hit star
You will see a green proogress bar and just wait
Should only take like 2 to 3 mins and itg will reboot your phoone for you
Don't unplug tillbphone is rebooted
It take a little longer for phone to reboot so don't panic let it do its thing

I'm not rooted and I updated to DK28 but now my GPS is blown.
I'm using these 2 files in ODIN3:
victory_8G_100528.pit (came with the ODIN download)
SPH-D700-DI18-8Gb-REL.tar.md5 (got this from your link here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=794138 )
I need to downgrade back to DI18 but when I use ODIN it gives the following error:
<OSM> MD5 Hash value is invalid
<OSM> SPH-D700-DI18-8Gb-REL.tar.md5 is invalid.
<OSM> End...
Any help would be very much appreciated.

Yeah that's from the same link I got it from originally:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=794138
So, it's the one giving me the hash error. Is it possible to go all the way back to DG27 and then OTA to DI18? I think I read that somewhere and saw that some folks were successful with that method. Anyways, thanks for your help!!
Nevermind it worked. I had two of the same files on my computer, i just deleted one. And also i didn't put in the rom files in odin until after i saw my phone.
Yeah use the one for the dg27 I'll and the phone should update for you. I'll get u a link. http://firon.net/xda/SPH-D700-DG27-8Gb-REL.tar
I'm sorry about the links guys I can't remember where I got the one for my phone that I use and im not home so I'm trying tondo this in the car on my phone

[Q] odin to froyo 2.2!??????

This may sound like a very dumb question but i am just now getting into the different things i can do with my phone. One of which is i have rooted it and installed clock work manager. I have seen A LOT of people talking about odin and using it to install froyo 2.2 on their phone. I was just wondering how you actually go about getting odin on your phone, or is it something installed on your computer to transfer files to your phone? my main objective of all of this is just to have froyo 2.2 finally installed on my phoneso if anyone could please give me the run down on this and the info i need to install 2.2 on my phone, or a web page that shows you how to install it once i have odin, it would be greatly appreciated!!!
Odin is a program used to flash .tar files (modem, kernel, system) onto your phone while in download mode.
A little poking around here (I would link you but I'm at work) and you will find the Samsung Drivers, The Odin program itself, and recently someone posted Odin files for 2.2
If you have the .zip of 2.2 (or Superclean 2.4) all you will have to do is flash the eb01 modem in Odin, then install the .zip file through CWM.
Follow ALL instructions in the threads you find to the T or it will be a pain in the ass to get your phone back.
Remember: When using Odin NEVER USE THE PHONE BUTTON. We use the PDA button for the Fascinate.
PDA = Good
Phone = brick (that's bad)

If u get the eb01 sc Odin package...it comes with rom obviously so u don't flash anything in cwm. However... future roms you want will b flashed in cwm. All u do is boot into recovery, instal zip from sd cars, choose the zip from sd card....select it...and hit ok

Ok, easy way to get froyo... go in the fascinate develpment section of xda or droid forums and look for ODIN eb01 package. It will load you up froyo, new clockwork, and root your phone all in one shot. The directions are super easy, just follow them exactly. I did mine this way, you dont have to mess with clockwork at all, ten minutes total. Let us know how you make out.

Might be a more elegant way of doing this, but maybe try dual booting windows? Or google search heimdall which is a mac Odin equivalent. I'm not sure if the stock firmware works with it or not. You should definitely confirm that before attempting to use heimdall.

[Q] Broken phone - cant figure out how to fix!

Hey fellas. I have to take my hat off to all of those who have done some great work for the VZW Note 3.. Well to my issue now.
I tried to step back to the original release from the MJ7 (I havent read you cant do that yet but I think I figured out why you shouldn't). I wanted to deox, root and safestrap the MJ7 release and I thought this would be the only way how.
Anyways now I am stuck at the "firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please use Software Repair Assistant and try again" screen. I have tried to download the stock release from six different sources, all corrupt (one site, six different mirrors) and obviously failed.
Any suggestions? I need to go to work soon and my phone is very useful at work....
Thanks

Not sure of your exact situation, but you cannot flash MI9 back after going to MJ7. You will need the full MJ7 Odin file and most probably the pit file too.

For Odin you need the tar file...go here- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=42954144
You could flash a stock ROM but if you want to go all the way back to pure stock go there.
Just read and read the op. Make sure you're comfortable with it all.

Appreciate the help, but I don't believe that's what I am looking for. I want the full stock 4.4.2 rom... which should be quite a few hundred mb. If possible what I would like to so *if someone can confirm* is do a complete wipe including the system and reinstall.

Sorry, maybe I should have mentioned I have mental issues (A.D.D., Bipolar etc etc) or posted in the Noob section. No biggie though, I took a crap shoot and crossed my fingers I didn't brick the phone with this file I found on some blog, went into recovery and basically erased anything that said erase lol... then loaded up Odin with the md5 and said a prayer.
Believe it or not, everything went according to plan (wipe sweat from brow...) and even my pedometer and air gestures are functioning. :good:
